My hot dog was super tasty, and I liked that the hot dog casing didn't take a chainsaw in order to rip through it, like some other establishments (*cough* Portillo's *cough*). The fried zucchini were great. I asked for a ranch dressing in which to dip my zucchini, and they gave me a container of white stuff (no herbs...usually ranch has herbs, amiright?). But it was good, nonetheless. I didn't have a shake, but my sister claims they are one of the best she's had. Maybe next time... The food is tolerable but the service is even worse. I've come here a few times on lunch cause it's near. I've experienced bad customer service over the phone but still came back. But today came in to order my lunch and the customer service while attempting to place a order was horrible. The male taking my order was so aggravated that I immediately changed my order, his face and actions was so rude, now why would I spend a dollar in this establishment. I'll take my business and money to another restaurant, which there are several in the area. Whatever happened to serving a customer with enthusiasm and appreciation? OH MY. This place is where it's at. I'm sill drooling over the Italian beef I had last week. It was hands down the most flavorful Italian beef I've ever had. The mozzarella cheese was so fresh and flavorful. The giardinera was crunchy and delicious. Only word of caution is both the beef and hot peppers are pretty spicy. Next time I'd probably opt for the sweet peppers. There's a $12 meal deal that comes with a drink and fries-I thought it was an excellent value. I was watching them prepare the food and I noticed that the masks were all below their nose. So what good is a face mask below the nose. No one worse plastic gloves. I also noticed that they were putting the gyro meat on a salad and patting it down. The problem with patting it down is that they were not wearing gloves. I really don't like bear hands patting down meat. Hopefully he washed his hands after using the bathroom otherwise whatever remnants that were on his hand is now on gyro meat on top of a salad. I was leaving my bank & hopped on Yelp to find a bite to eat. Found this spot which was only 2 blocks away, so I decided to check them out. The parking lot was full with only 2 spots left, that was a good sign. The place was packed with barely any seats. I ordered quickly & the cashier was nice. I ordered the 8oz steak Sandwich w/fries. My order took about 10mins which wasn't bad at all. I got it to go and ate as I drove back to work. The steak was juicy and cooked a nice med/well, it wasn't as seasoned as I prefer but it was a good grade of meat & it freshly prepared as we're the fries!!! Definitely enjoyed my meal. I've passed this place a million times, and today when I was on my way home from Niki Moon Salon (down the street) I was super hungry so I thought, hey - why not keep this Nicky Friday a-goin?? The restaurant itself is very casual and clean. The service is fast and the staff is efficient. It's just a cute and welcoming little fast-food joint. The interior includes an order/pickup counter, a bunch of tables and booths, and 3 TV's for your viewing pleasure. The menu at Nicky's Red Hots is pretty huge. They have everything: soups, salads, appetizers, Greek sandwiches, charbroiled burgers, gourmet burgers, all american sandwiches, hot dogs, deluxe sandwiches, dinners, chicken lover options, desserts, specialty sandwiches, a kid's menu...you get the picture. I ordered the #3 -- Gyro, french fries and a fountain beverage (Pepsi products). My total came to $9.53. My plate was FULL so it was well worth it. The gyro was fantastic and topped with tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, and onions. The pita was stocked with a TON of meat. In order to pick it up properly and eat it as handheld item, I had to take off about half of the meat to fold the pita. Definitely not complaining, just something to note. I saw a couple other people just diving in with a fork and knife and skipping the gyro fold all together. Hey - whatever works! The fries complimented the meal nicely and they were the perfect texture - a little crunch on the outside, but mashed on the inside. I'll definitely pop in again when I'm in the area. If this rating is 100% based on my kid's opinion which would be a five. They loved it and they demanded to go back when we drove by there occasionally. We had the regular gyro with fries which kids called it sliced sausage with fries; chicken tenders, clam chowder soup and corn dogs. Kids finished up the gyro and corn dogs in no time. Then they were very happily licking their ice cream cones. Chicken tenders were a bit tough so kids left those for Daddy. :) Me, on the other hand, didn't care much my chowder soup. I didn't care much about the service neither as the man at the counter didn't help too much with my ordering and tried to rush me as I could not decide between chicken tender or ribs. This was a good choice for a late Saturday lunch. I chose the Chicken Souvlaki Sandwich and onion rings and my husband had a gyro. All were fresh, hot and delicious. I returned and had the gyros. If you like gyros, you can't go wrong with ordering it here - a good, fresh, and satisfying serving for $5.45. They also have a lot of other reasonably priced sandwich offerings that look worth trying. I still think they need a better ventilation system, as one still leaves here smelling a bit of the cooking grease. I was mulling over docking a star for that, but oh well, you factor it in as a "cost" of getting otherwise good and reasonably priced products. I missed going to this spot, and that is why I did not hesitate to visit it for the first time after a long time. It never really gets old. Every good thing I wanted to experience in a fast food restaurant is what I always experience here, and that includes them having great customer service and, most importantly, delicious and good quality food. I went here for lunch and it was busy, but I was able to order quickly and get seated on the first available seat I saw. I usually order the BBQ ribs because they are so good and tender meat with perfect seasoning and flavor, but instead of that BBQ rib, I ordered a gyros plate. There are a variety of options on their menu, and I have been going to this spot a lot of times. I am certain that I haven't tried all of them, but based on the food I ate at this restaurant, I can say that every meal never disappoints. My food came, and the service was friendly and quick. Food is definitely good. It tastes fresh, and everything on the plate has a good, tasty flavor. I do not regret choosing it over the BBQ ribs, which I love the most. read more

The 1-star is for being argumentive & lacking responsibility for your minor error. We simply called to state our order was incorrect & a Peter(owner he stated)argued with us that he took order and blah blah was what we ordered, we kindly & simply stated..NO iT WAS NOT..now we had 3 people in the car when I ordered and Peter clearly wrote the order incorrect. We were not looking for anything, but just to have our items we actually ordered put on credit so we can pick up next time in area. Peter stated that, while we were sitting down to eat 20 minutes away, we had to bring the wrong items back to get the correct ones. For obvious reasons, that was not going to happen. We love the certain item here, but refuse to come back due to lack of customer service. If this big of a deal was made for this minor issue by the owner, how the heck will it be handled for anything else?? This makes me think this place certainly cuts corners, since this was absolutely ridiculous how we were treated & argued with. Sorry, there are many Greek places out there, I'm sure we'll find a place that appreciates their customers! I Don't recommend if any issue, as minor as this, may come up in your dining experience. I have to agree with the other review of them not taking ownership. We purchased 4 ice cream cones and the ice cream tasted like what was being cooked, and it literally melted in seconds we all threw them out right away. The cones themselves were very stale. I called the restaurant in a very polite manner to inform them that the machine was off and he was very rude. My family and I patronized this business multiple times a week on a regular occasion, after today we will no be returning. They can keep their "free cones" he rudely offered us. Went to Nicky's today (4/25/21) ordered a gyros and garden salad at 6:16 pm. They were very busy (online orders) so I patiently waited for my order, but once 6:46 pm arrived I thought I'd check on the status of my order. The response from the person in the kitchen was "we are busy, if they don't like it give them their money back". No quick update on how much longer or sorry we are behind. My additional issue with them was two customers behind me ordered the same sandwich and received their orders in less than 10 minutes. I realize everyone has bad days but after waiting 30 minutes and getting that response with the attitude is unacceptable. Never again Nicky's! read more

Well what can I say, a place that is usually good greatly disappointed me tonight. Online order for a ribeye steak sandwich - almost immediately got a call they were out, would I like something else. Understandable, these things happen. However I ordered the ribeye with fries and cole slaw, for which there was an extra charge. My substitute cheesesteak was just the sandwich. You'd think the numbnuts would have figured that out all on their own. But had to settle for just the sandwich, so guess I'll go a bit hungry tonight. I've ate here a few times and even took my daughter. We both enjoyed the food, so today I decided to order food from here. So I go online and ordered my food. When I got there the cashier asked me to wait a few minutes, of course I said "sure, no problem". While I was waiting, I notice that NONE of the employees, including the owner, were wearing gloves. So I see the manager with a silver bowl and he is using his fingers to get something out of it. So I'm watching him do this with no gloves and I realized he was picking up boneless wings WITH NO GLOVES. He was trying to make sure all of the wings had sauce but was using his bare hands. So I'm still watching him and then I notice another employee started helping him pickup the wings and toss them in the sauce and guess what??? HE DIDN'T HAVE GLOVES ON EITHER . Here come the cashier and I asked him "you guys do not wear gloves while working with food?" He says, "ma'am we can't wear gloves with hot food because it will burn our hands". Huh?? Why are you touching food with your hands PERIOD? So then I point at the owner to tell him who was doing it and he says "oh he is the owner and I can't tell him what to do" WHAT?? It doesn't matter who is the owner, you are supposed to wear gloves with food. Soooo, here comes another employee with celery in his bare hands putting it on the customers trays. Then the manager come and asked me what is the problem. I tell him and all he says is "we wash our hands and sanitize them" I said that doesn't matter you are still suppose to wear gloves. He doesn't care and walk away. Then the cashiers tells me "I personally made your food so you don't have to worry" I am sorry, yes I do have to worry because you working with money and food AT THE SAME DAMN TIME? . Look I am just trying to warn everyone that they do not believe in wearing gloves and actually touches your food with their bare hands, that goes into you body. Read some of the reviews, people got sick and found hair in their food. It could be from them scratching their heads and then touching your food ‍ IJS. So far Nicky's is my favorite place to get Gyros in the Naperville/Lisle area. Giant portions (I usually get two meals out of the platter), good flavor, and everything tastes very fresh. Do yourself a favor and order the Greek potatoes with your meal. Nicely seasoned with lemon and garlic. They taste so good they should be illegal. Whenever I think about gyros, the first place that comes to mind is definitely this family-owned restaurant. This restaurant has been here for years, and I have also been here a lot of times, and I can definitely say that they are very consistent with their food, flavor, and everything. The restaurant is also super nice. It is a good spot for something casual and comfy. It is also always clean and bright and just basically a good spot when you want something clean that has nice ambiance as well. The food here is really delicious. They have a huge variety of options on their menu. There are a lot of choices, but for me, the best ones are definitely their gyros, salads, their dogs, and, of course, their burgers. I love their gyros because they are authentic, they taste delicious, and they are always served fresh. Their salad is always fresh, and aside from that, the dressing tastes great too. Their dogs and burgers are also good. It all tastes good, and the portions are huge. Back then, service was always quick, but it is kind of different now. Service is sometimes really slow. That's the only downside I could think of, and the rest of everything is fine, including the prices, which are fair and reasonable. read more

I have been a fan for as long as I have lived in Naperville which is over 22 years. My first experience was as a new Mom, & hubby would bring home the tastiest Greek chicken. I didn't know where he got it, I just greedily chowed down as I was nursing our son then & I was ALWAYS hungry & the food ALWAYS satisfied. When he pointed out the place one day while we drove by, I was shocked that such tasty food came from a smallish "takeout joint"...Zoom forward many years & Nicky's has kept up, with remodeling the place & its' menu. I believe I have tried pretty much everything there, and everything is delicious & I have never been disappointed. Everything is quality, great ingredients, and well-prepared & handled. I cannot recommend Nickys enough. Try the pulled pork...I was pleasantly surprised, it tastes homemade, I couldn't believe I had missed it so long before "discovering" it on the menu. Especially during this pandemic you can see & appreciate the care this establishment STILL & always places in their work. Even family members who live a few suburbs over, who have enjoyed Nicky's at our home during catered parties, (it took me a while to reveal who made that chicken) drive all the way to Naperville for now "their" Nickys... Nicky's is located on Ogden Avenue just a few blocks East of Washington in Naperville. Inside is are a handful of tables for seating along with a few outside tables with Vienna Beef umbrella's. I looked over the menu and decided to try the Hot Dog. The first thing I noticed was that they offered a regular Hot Dog for 2.55 and a hot dog with fries for a dollar more. Despite not ordering fries, I got them anyway. The hot dog I received came on a non-poppy seed bun. The bun was not particularly soft, but wasn't hard either. The sausage itself had a nice flavor to it and all the juices appeared to be intact after steaming. It came with a thick pickle, nice chopped up onion, and a sour relish that isn't the typical neon green style you find at most Hot Dog establishments around Chicagoland. I didn't detect any presence of celery salt and there was a bit more mustard than there should have been. The fries were very bland, they were not very salty and the potato paste inside wasn't very tasty. As far as the texture goes they weren't too crispy or too soft. While they certainly didn't taste bad, they didn't taste that good either, needless to say most of them wound up in the trash. Overall if you're looking for a hot dog on Ogden Avenue in Naperville don't stop at Nicky's. While some of their other menu items might be better, their hot dogs aren't anything to brag about and their fries are even less memorable. read more

What's with all the good reviews? I came here on the way home from taking my daughter to the children's musuem, down the street.... Saw the good reviews, but I'd never step foot in this place again. I ordered a chicken gyro. Average taste, but I was starving. Honey mustard was ok - made the gyro have flavor. Overpriced, forsure. 6.50? Ordered chicken nuggets for my 2 y/o (Not the kids meal, 9 nuggets themselves) IT WAS basically eating McDonald nuggets. WTF - I haven't been to McDonald's in years. Felt like I just threw $4 out the window for some low grade nuggets. oh -- and I ordered cheese fries. GOOD THING I CHECKED MY BAG IN THE CAR, because they weren't even in there. The cheese on the side was - but NOT the fries. I had to walk all the way back in with a sleeping toddler in my arms, and I didn't even receive a "sorry" or any customer service in that regard. AND THEY QUESTIONED ME TWICE IF THE FRIES WERE IN THE BAG. **JUST GIVE ME MY FRIES, and let's go! I have a sleeping 25 lb baby in my hands for damn sakes** I ended up paying over $14 for just me and my 2 year old. Didn't get the service I'd expect, or food. Another one of the family owned Red Hots where they make everything from hot dogs and burgers to Italian beef and gyros. This one is nicer than some of the other one's I've been to for the fact that they have a dining area and TVs. Been here a few times for lunch and I always get the gyro.Comes out fresh and you can still see the drippings on the lamb. Small complaint is that the pita is too small! But I guess that's good because that means they give you a lot of meat. Ok amount of fries too. Ended up paying around 8.50 for a combo. A little pricey in my opinion but I suppose they can do that since it's something different than the bigger chains. Friendly cash register people, I think they are usually the owners or managers. Bus boy even came by and was offering to throw people's trash away from them. How sweet. This last time I went it was pretty packed so you may not have seating.
