It is a bit of a drive for me to get here but it is totally worth it. Their gyros have plenty of meat in it, (sometimes so much that I have to take one out, and my boyfriend loves it.) with the right amount of sauce and spice. There is a reason Niko's (as it is lovingly called by locals) receives consistent five star reviews: it's a family owned establishment that puts a lot of love into their authentic Greek cuisine. The menu has all of the Greek classics: souvlaki, avgolemono, keftedes, dolmathes, saganaki- I could keep listing, but it's really hard to beat their house salad, a plate of fries and their traditional gyro with feta. Everything on the menu is delicious and prepared very rapidly at no loss to quality. You could say very efficiently. Call in an order for 5+ people and it'll be ready in 15. My family has been going here as long as I can remember- back when it was split down the middle with an Americana joint called 'The Big Scoop' and had only three tables to sit at. They expanded into the other half some time later and the place really became family/group friendly. The SINGLE complaint I have is the high volume human traffic during food rush hour, but that isn't the restaurant's fault- it is simply an expression of the sheer love and appreciation for this place by the community. Consistently great greek food. I've been eating here for about 3 years and it is as delicious as the first time. I was never a huge fan of gyros until I started coming here and now greek is one of my favorite types of food. The staff is always very friendly and accomodating. Kid friendly and some nice benches outside to sit on in the summer. The to go is quick and the prices very reasonable (5.50 for a huge gyro with tons of meat or falafel). My husband and I go here every time we are in town! We love this place and have never had a bad meal here. When we lived in Magnolia, we'd go here at least once a week. Everything is good. This place is actually run by a Greek family while most of Greek places are operated by Pakistanis of some sort. I study Greek language so I go here to practice when I'm confident enough. They're super helpful and gladly have a small talk with me in Greek. Food is great too. Lamb shank USA very nice comfort food and you can't go wrong with a gyro plate. Side salad is crisp and the dressing is amazing. In summer time, you can sit and eat at the outside table. Interior is not the best and may need a little update but I kinda like it that way as it has a family atmosphere. read more

The Keftedes are pretty big, but relatively bland; they're not really garlicly at all. The gyro meat was wrong/bad; they don't have a vertical broiler and the strips were more like oddly shaped hamburgers instead of gyro meat. The feta in the tzatziki was good/interesting though the tzatziki itself wasn't very tasty. For the reasons above, the sandwiches aren't worth going here for. From what I could see on other diner's plates and also from the menu, I think the "Specialty Plates" could be worth about 4 stars separate from the sandwiches. If I'm nearby again, I might try the combination souvlaki, briam, horiatiki, or mousaka plates. read more

I came in for a chicken gyro and was a little disappointed. The gyro didn't have much in it and you can tell they use packaged meat and just heat it up on the grill. By the looks of the interior and other good Yelp reviews I was expecting something better and more traditional. A rotisserie of meat or maybe even some fresh marinated chicken breast would have been nice. The Greek fries were small round disks with feta on top. Nothing bad but nothing special either. What I ordered can be described as Greek fast food. Quick and cheap. I would rather wait longer and pay more for better food. That's just my opinion. The place was packed so I don't know what I'm missing here. The staff seemed nice and all but the gyro was a let down. I'm going to stick with Taki's Mad Greek for now. read more

I give this place five stars for the absolutely delicious gyros, delicious Greek fries, delicious baklava, very friendly and welcoming customer service, and the fact that it is near a beautiful view point in Seattle: the Magnolia Bluff. You don't have a view of the bluff when you're at the restaurant, but it is just a two minute (give or take) walk from there. Niko's is, in my opinion, the BEST affordable restaurant in all of Seattle. The gyros are out of this world and the pitas are fresh and fabulous, much heartier than other places. The Greek Salad is terrific with generous slices of various veggies. The owner came directly from Greece and took the cooking skills with him! All of the staff is friendly and efficient. When I lived in Magnolia, I ate there at least twice a week. Now that I moved out of the city, Nikos is my first stop when visiting!!! YUMMY!! Also, I have to disagree with the reviewer that called the service "surly." I have received nothing but terrific service on every visit. For example, one time I left my credit card by mistake. Let me start by saying that seems like Greek food in Seattle is a let-down. It is very stereotypical and not that authentic and fresh. Also, most do not have comprehensive menus. We have been to about 10 of the so-called best Greek restaurants in Seattle and they are all just meh. It's like Seattle only knows about gyros and hummus and soulvaki for Greek food. Very strange! There is no place to go in Seattle for a comprehensive Greek menu with stellar basics as well as more exotic (less traditional dishes). With all the glowing reviews about Nikos we were very excited to try the place. We moved to Ballard last year and miss being close to a great gyros place in Kirkland called Santorini's. Anyway - we were dissapointed. The Gyros meat was soggy and the pita bread broke apart before we could finish. I did like the coin fires with the feta but it was not enough to overcome the poor sandwich. I think the owner was there since the guy behind the counter was a bit grouchy. Kind of like the soup nazi. The location is excellent and sidewalk dining was fun. I can now say a trip to Kirkland for a Santorini's Gyros is worth it. Friendly staff too! Food is okay, but the old guy (owner?)behind the counter definitely doesn't seem like he loves being there. He's never rude, just kind of generally unpleasant. Doesn't give you a real welcoming feeling that people frequent the mom and pop type places for. Their food is typical for this type of place. Nothing I've tasted has blown me away. We've eaten there several times and it's right next to my barber, so it's convenient, but I live in Magnolia and we drive to Ballard for our Falafel and Gyro. One of our favorite family restaurants in Seattle. We generally stick to our favorites (traditional gyro with feta, Greek fries, hummus and rice), all of which are mouthwateringly perfect every time. Eating in is fun, but we'd recommend calling ahead or calling for take-out during the busiest hours. We were already devotees to Niko's, but a sweet gesture during one of our visits made us lifelong customers: My 6-year-old got strangely adventurous once and ordered something she didn't like. We had her try a few bites just to make sure, then just shared our food rather than ordering a whole new plate. From over the counter, the owner saw what was going on and, without saying a word, sent over a plate of kid-friendly Greek fries with ketchup. After placing my order the person on the phone told me that I was "yelling." This was after being repeatedly told to speak up, because I could not be heard. Niko's is not the best Greek restaurant I've eaten at because I came here from Detroit where the Greek restaurants are undeniably amazing. However, Niko's is great. They don't just have the normal boring Greek restaurant fare. They step out a bit with things like their Halibut Gyro. That being said, I usually show up for a bowl of Avgolemeno. Warms the heart and the stomach. It is very nicely done. For me, a good bowl of Avgolemeno reminds me of the best of Michigan (greektown) and the best of Hong Kong. Avgolemeno is this amazing cross over between chinese Jok (congee) and a more complex european soup. I love it. I sometimes feel guilty that I don't go there more. After an afternoon stroll in the discovery park, we were hungry for quick food before heading out for the night. So happy we found this wonderful neighborhood gem! We had 4 gyros to go (did I mention we were hungry?) and Greek fries. The difference between Greek fries and french fries are: 1. Different shape (circular vs. string); 2. Addition of Feta (awesome!). I had the falafel gyro which is amazingly flavorful, and the sauce was tingy and creamy. All for less than $5! This place is great!! I have only had takeout since I work near by but their Keftedes gyro (Greek meatballs) is amazing. No subway marinara drenched puny meatballs here. They are huge (think tennis balls) and packed with garlicky goodness. They are drenched in a very tasty tatziki sauce too. I have a special place in my heard for Takis Mad Greek in Crown Hill but I don't feel like this is cheating because they don't have these lovely meatballs on the menu. Go get some soon!! read more

Their food is always really great and the staff is super helpful and attentive. I love their vegetarian gyros, especially with added eggplant. They cook the vegetables just perfectly, so they still have texture and a little crunch without being soggy or undercooked. Niko's reminds me of the little hole in the wall Greek places you find in NYC and along the northeast corridor: family pictures on the wall, lots of greek pride, small kitchen right up front, family owned and very reasonably priced. The falafel with added feta was delicious-- just the right amount of sauce so I wasn't spilling it all over the plate, but enough to make the falafel nice and moist. And not too heavy on the onions. Basically, perfect. My boyfriend loved the lamb shank. The meat peels right off the bone and looked delicious. Pretty sure I got a good 15 minutes of dead silence from him while he devoured it. This place seems popular with families, so if you aren't a big fan of kids, probably best to get it to go. read more

I have been sad about the lack of truly amazing Greek food here in Seattle since I moved in 2006. That changed on Wednesday night when I was waiting for a friend to get off of a late work day and decided to get some food in the interim. I walked in and immediately realized these folks were serious. The menu was widely accommodating for different levels of hunger, taste, and budget, and you'd best know what you want when you get to the counter because there's a steady stream of customers coming in. I had the *best gyro that I have had on this coast. Delicious, affordable, filling, and perfectly seasoned. There was an older gentleman that I noticed was making sure the napkins on empty tables were perfectly squared and upon finishing my meal he brought me a few orange slices. The service was fantastic, it was packed with people who were undoubtedly enjoying their meals, it was clean and fast. I had no problem finding street parking. I only wished I lived closer. I will definitely be returning as soon as possible. read more
