The Copay with HMO Insurance was $40 and I was able to get all my necessary prescriptions sent over to my pharmacy of choice same day! The first time I came here was a recommendation from my doctor to have some spots on my back checked. All they did was tell me I would have to schedule another visit with the doctor (it felt like a money grab, what was the point of the first visit?) When I came back a couple months later (yes, the doctor takes that many vacations), they had screwed up my schedule and shifted it a half hour, despite calling me 2 days earlier confirming the correct time. So 10 minutes after the incorrect time the doctor is already out of the office. All while the receptionist is rolling her eyes and being condescending. Sloppy and unprofessional. read more

I went in for a severely itchy scalp and asked for a lice check. The provider barely looked - gave my head a glance and quickly diagnosed me, sending me off with a prescription for an allergic reaction. Less than 24 hours later, still miserable and convinced something was wrong, I went to a minute clinic. Within minutes, the nurse there found three live lice and multiple eggs. It was a completely obvious diagnosis that this dermatologist's office somehow missed. When I contacted them to let them know, hoping for at least an acknowledgment or accountability, I was met with defensiveness and condescension. The provider repeatedly said, "We don't agree" with that diagnosis and even told me to hire an attorney if I wanted to pursue it. Not once did they express concern or take any responsibility. What's most disturbing is how resistant they were to even consider they could've made a mistake - especially when a basic lice check was clearly not done properly. Their refusal to listen or own up to their error speaks volumes about the kind of care (or lack of it) they provide. I would strongly urge anyone considering this practice to look elsewhere - somewhere that actually listens to patients and takes basic diagnostic steps seriously. read more

Be careful! Unfortunately the office manager employed at this location engages in deceptive, potentially fraudulent business practices. Clients should be advised to double and triple check their billing statements before ever leaving the office. After finishing a cosmetic treatment (which I paid full price for out of pocket) the medical staff asked whether there was anything else that they could assist with. This was in the last 2 - 3 minutes before leaving the office. I thought for a second, then mentioned some minor issue. The medical staff said "oh, why dont you try this" and gave me a prescription. Later on i found out that this business billed this SAME 30 minute visit to my insurance as an office visit while knowing that they billed EXACTLY THE SAME visit to me as a cosmetic treatment. Wow, that is a neat trick. 2 for 1. The insurance company obviously wasn't aware of the deception and paid several hundred dollars for the office visit. I did notice it and called the office assuming it was an innocent mistake on their part. Not so. The business manager yelled at me over the phone. She said it was totally fine to do this and refused to admit obvious wrong. You can decide for yourself whether this you consider this legitimate business practice or fraud. As for me, I am going to report this incident to BBB and hire a lawyer. Please watch for this AND check your old bills from this office. Dr Amin is extremely rude and inappropriate and very unprofessional and disrespectful. I'm super baffled how she's been practicing this long with the kind of shitty bedside manners she has and how she screams and yells. Totally unbelievable. Requested to be seen specifically by a physician for my son before making our initial appt and not by an NP/PA as I had specific questions for her (I'm a physician myself and I heard her midlevel providers are pretty bad but Dr Amin is ok and hence asked to be seen specifically by her as a criteria for the new appt). Yet, my son got seen by a no knowledge midlevel and I wasn't happy and decided not to get any treatment with her and yet her "consultation charges" were $300 for NOTHING with very good insurance. I called to reach out to their billing department ONCE and spoke to her staff for less than 5mins to find out the breakdown of charges and NEVER asked to speak with Dr Amin. But she called me stating how she's busy between patients and started screaming and yelling for no reason (these calls are recorded) and hung up on me. Throughout my call I had to tell her to not scream and yell. So patient doesn't have a right to know how and why they're being charged? Wow... unbelievably rude. I would NOT recommend her to ANYONE.. I've the best insurance and her billing is so ridiculously off and I've NEVER received any communication letters until I found a collections remark and enquired at her office. Front desk staff is very snotty. If you do not have your physical plastic insurance card they will tell you they cannot see you, as well as the doctor. It's somewhat barbaric of a policy considering almost all of healthcare is on Epic where you can find that information very easily. I have never been told I cannot be seen for not having my physical insurance card in my life... I am 40 years old. I offered to give them the group and member ID, their answer was no. Not only that the doctor was completely unprofessional and has no compassion. I see Dr. Amin for Botox injections: I would trust this procedure to no one else. She is careful, concise and, in her own words, a perfectionist. It can be quite easy to overdo it when it comes to Botox and other similar cosmetic procedures. Dr. Amin's conservative approach means that you will leave her office looking fresh and rejuvenated, but still very much like yourself. She is confident, experienced and knowledgeable about the products she works with, and is happy to take the extra time to educate her patients on why she chooses them, and how they work. AWFUL. Dr. Amin is terrible and I would highly suggest looking elsewhere. I came in to take a look at some skin rash on my leg and immediately she suggested removing a portion of it (for testing) leaving me with a scar. I was not expecting this type of diagnosis, but it was fine, I just needed my questions answered. Dr. Amin over and over again said "Trust me" as she had her hand on the door ready to walk out after our less than 5 minutes of meeting each other. How am I supposed to trust you when you are rushing me to this decision? Completely unprofessional. Saw me as a dollar sign and not as a proper patient that had concerns. I got zero answers and a pushy doctor. Waste of my time. Also, asked her about a mole that I was concerned about on my leg. I simply said "is this normal?" She responded with, "I can't answer that. You have to make another appointment for a mole check". WTH? Isn't there some sort of doctor oath to tell me if I should have immediate concerns about something? To withhold a simple, "Yes, let's make another appointment about that" or "No, that looks fine" is VERY simple. To charge me for another visit will not be happening. read more

I went to Nima a few years ago for some laser spot removals. Zapped away some less than sightly marks. They did a good job. I needed real dermatologic care recently for a few different issues and remembered them, made an appointment and went back. The doctor was not available soon, so I went with the assistant, a young, blonde woman I'll call YBW. Her manner was unsmiling and perfunctory. I did not feel respected, more as if the problems of a middle-aged man were distasteful and "like, yucky." I should not have gone to a place with a strong cosmetic focus. YBW made her "diagnoses," indicated prescriptions and sent me on my way. She saw me about twenty minutes. The bill was $200. I had misgivings about the way I was treated and the care I received, and cancelled my scheduled return to Nima. Days later, I contacted my PCP for a referral and today saw a real dermatologist at a respected facility. She was terrific: Dr. Sarah Kasprowicz in Chicago. She inspired complete confidence. YBW noted marks on my face and said they were dangerous and needed to be 'burned off.' "We can do that today if you want." Dr. K said they were normal and prescribed a cream. YBW recommended a shampoo for a yeast-related dandruff. She said "you can mix it with your regular shampoo." Dr. K. said that product was very strong and should only be used as needed perhaps two or three times in a week, as it could cause dependence. (No mention of that from YBW.) YBW said I could 'mix it with my regular shampoo.' Dr. K. wondered why you would reduce the effectiveness of a medication by mixing it. YBW looked at a mark on my wrist and prescribed a strong corticosteroid. Dr. K. looked at the same mark very carefully and prescribed a hydrocortisone cream. I would have considered a lower rating, but I received good results from my strictly cosmetic care a few years ago. Also, I was a dope for going to the wrong place, and learned a valuable lesson. Young people? Go to Nima for cosmetic procedures. Middle-aged folks who need real dermatologic care? Always see an actual doctor. Receive respect and real medical care. If you must go to Nima, wait till you can see the doctor. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Amin's for over a year and have used her and her team for cosmetic and traditional dermalogical services. I was surprised to read the reviews saying the front desk staff was rude - in my experience, they always greet me by name, remind me to get my parking validated and say goodbye, etc. on my way out. I feel like I couldn't really ask for more. As for Dr. Amin and her medical team - I love them! Dr. Amin clearly loves helping people achieve the cosmetic results they are looking for and is also completely professional and thorough for medical-based appointments like skin cancer checks, etc. During my last appointment, I actually texted a friend about how much fun I have coming to Nima. Finally, what we're all really looking for in picking a doctor is results! I have never had an issue that Dr. Amin and her staff haven't addressed quickly and professionally. As far as the cosmetic results, I can't recommend microneedling enough! My acne scars are much less pronounced after only a couple of treatments and my skin is generally more full and youthful looking. I will be back (probably often) for this and more! read more

This is just a sales office for expensive pharmaceutical skincare. It's way less expensive and more pleasant to get a facial at a nice salon. By the way, the PA used an alcohol swab to remove some of my makeup. Probably not the best choice when you have acne-prone skin in the winter, eh? Finally, there wasn't even a proper exam. The PA walked in, wiped an alcohol swab over my face, and then told me I needed a bunch of expensive prescriptions. Hard pass. Never again. I went there for a small procedure. When the procedure started, the PA Tracee sent the nursing assistant to bring more meds because they didn't prepare well. During the whole procedure the nurse assistant was snorting. Every time I heard sound of nursing assistant's running nose, I was diving deeper into the chair. I felt really horrible. In the middle of procedure, two of them started fussing, stirring. It sounded like there was some hidden turmoil. I actually think that they messed up the second incision, but they hid it. Later I noticed that the second incision is bigger and it took a longer time to heal. When the agony of the snorting nose, clumsy hands and unprepared PA was over, the PA gave me a paper with a follow up instructions. I looked at the paper and noticed that the instructions were for a different procedure. When I pointed that out, PA Tracee started crossing the sentences with an attitude as if to say "how stupid you are not to know what the follow up instructions are!". OK, she had a bad day, she didn't like me, she wanted to go home... there can be variety of reasons to be unprofessional, but let me ask you: How difficult is to prepare and print piece of paper with adequate instructions? My final impression is that PA Tracee spends more time on choosing her wardrobe and posturing rather than seriously and responsibly preparing for her work. Instead of one, I'm giving this place two stars. That's because Dr Amin was very, very nice and the nurse that took out the stitches was polite, soft and reassuring. Dr. Amin was amazing - I went to her because my wife noticed a mole on the side of my head that had grown. She was very thorough in her testing and treatment through the whole process, as I was terrified of cancer and extremely worried. She was very comforting, followed up with me the next day, and her treatment plan saved my life. She continued to follow up with me after just to be sure and assist with Checkins. I really want to give Nima Skin Institute more stars but the fact that they were rude and unhelpful makes me seriously considering starting all over again with a new doctor and sadly I can only give 1 star. The only reason for the star is Dr. Amin, I find the staff at the Institute to be rude and unhelpful and for that I can't recommend this place to anyone else. I love Dr. Amin, I think she's a wonderful doctor who has helped me a lot, however, I called to see if I could get in to see her because I'm having a problem and the not so helpful person who answered the phone pretty much told me there is nothing I can do but wait until November. UNPROFESSIONAL and UNHONEST practice. I make an appointment originally for dermabrasion and the receptionist asked me twice for my insurance card which I declined to provide. I meet with PA Tracee and she suggested TCA peel instead. Since the PA offered to give me a free peel if I buy 4 more peels I kindly accepted the offer. During the procedure the PA appears tired, poor set up (I was asked to hold a handheld fan during the peel), and poor post procedure instruction. Then I was directed to a impolite cashier/MA who charged my credit card and did not even offer to make the next appt or ask if I have any other questions. First peel was okay, 4 days of redness, and no siginificant difference. I called back 3 weeks later to make a second appt I discovered I only have 3 peels left. The receptionist looked at the chart and she spoke to the PA both states I only have 3 peels left. When I ask to speak the PA the receptionist states "I don't know what agreement you and her have but she is busy right now." I am going to go there in person and get my money back. read more

I had severe acne as a teenager, and in my mid-twenties it began to resurface. It may sound superficial, but your face is one of the first things you present to the world, and my self-esteem really began to suffer. Who still gets acne in their twenties?! After going to Dr. Amin, I was informed many still do! I thought at first it was a little strange to go on 'yelp' to seek out a medical provider, but it turned out to be a really great decision. Dr. Amin took my concerns seriously, and conveyed a lot of empathy. I also appreciated her thorough, straight-forward explanation of what was going on with my skin. She wasn't condescending or overly-technical, and her prescribed treatments have been helping a great deal. My skin isn't quite where I want it to be yet. But the treatment has helped much more than I anticipated. In addition, Dr. Amin gave me samples and coupons to knock down the price of the prescriptions, making sure that I didn't have to forgo treatment because of my inadequate insurance coverage. That also indicated to me that she genuinely cares about her patients. Dr. Amin has been my dermatologist for several years. She's highly personable and very knowledgeable. Two qualities that are "must have" in a doc! Best part! Recently, I complained to her that I've had skin irritation from shaving that's been a source of discomfort for years. She suggested I meet with her PA (Tracee) about Laser Hair Removal. Tracee proved extremely experienced in the procedure, answered all my questions thoroughly, and completely removed my concerns about getting the procedure. She was extremely rude, stand-offish, and communicated that she couldn't talk about any services over the phone. Dr. Amin and her PA Tracee are extremely nice and highly skilled in their respective fields. I'm in my early 20s and was on the losing end of a acne battle for years before Dr. Amin helped me. I have been to other dermatologists who have used a one size fits all approach to acne, but Dr. Amin actually took the time to get to know my skin and set up a plan that works for me. I am currently undergoing peels to diminish the signs of my bouts with acne with the PA Tracee, and although it is an expensive process she is always clear on the price and offers plenty of free samples to help with after-care treatment. read more

Because she really is a great dermatologist. That is usually an oxymoron. She is practical and sensible and makes me feel like a valued patient. I'm concerned I just got scammed... after reading other reviews, I might have fallen for the same thing. I had one appointment in 2018 to get an Rx refilled and wasn't charged a co-pay at the door because I had excellent insurance. I moved away and fast forward 2 years I discovered a $50 collection against me. Had to research where it came from, I didn't remember the doctor's name, and then realized it was from that one appointment. I didn't receive statements requesting the co-pay. I don't remember receiving one phone call from the office that they claimed to have made. The collection agency never contacted me. No phone call, no bill. I had to ask Nima Institute for the collection agency phone number so I could pay it and get it off my record where it's been unbeknownst to me for 14 months. So glad I checked credit karma today. Maybe I shouldn't have paid it. But I just want it off my record. I really don't appreciate the way this office handles business. read more

Dr. Amin, where have you been all my life? My skin has been up and down my entire life. I had normal teenager acne, then it cleared up, then it would flare up again off and on. As I was approaching my mid-30s (sob), I figured enough was enough. After being unsuccessful with another dermatologist I found Dr. Amin on Yelp and decided to give her a try. Dr. Amin and her staff are fantastic. She is so nice and cheerful, and she works fast - but not in a "I'm turning and burning patients" kind of way. I didn't feel rushed at all during the appointment, but she is definitely efficient with her time. I like it. She is generous with samples and discount cards, and wants to know right away what is working and what isn't so she can tweak things as needed. Her staff writes everything down for you and makes it detailed so it's completely dummy proof, which I needed. Since I started seeing her in June, my skin is SO much better, and I must say that it helped boost my confidence as well. I still get the occasional pimple, but that's the exception and not the rule these days. I'm so happy with what she's done for me and my skin! On top of all that, the location is super convenient to everything and there is $2 validated parking. What's not to love? read more
