The people working there have a serious attitude problem and plus the pizza sorta sucks

NEVER GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THIS PLACE!! As I called to make an order and spend my money, apparently I was not speaking fast enough for the guy on the phone so he proceeded to ask me "are you planning on making an order or not because I'm very busy. You can call back later" with a CRAZY disgusting attitude. Who talks to people like that?! Ridiculous!! Usually when I want pizza, I go for a classic NY slice. For some reason yesterday I was craving a neopolitan pie. I couldn't find any pizza place that baked neopolitan pies with walking distance or on seamless. After much searching I found this place. I knew it wouldn't be exactly what I was craving, but figured it would be close enough. At that point even a good NY slice would've sufficed. Upon tasting a slice, I was quite surprised. I'd say this pizza is neither here nor there. It's not a good NY slice, it's not neopolitan, it's not pretend pizza (aka Dominos and Papa Johns), it's not even bad neopolitan. It's unlike any other pizza I've ever had, and not in a good way. The dough was very stiff, there was no chew or stretch to it. The fresh mozzarella and sauce were fine, but the dough made eating the pizza unappealing. This was the first time I've ever had trouble biting into a slice, the dough was that unforgiving. Knife and fork pizza! We also ordered garlic knots. On the plus side, they were large, soft and very garlicky. They were also soaked in oil though, way above what is normal. The saving grace of the order was the chicken Parmesan garlic knot. It's a great idea, tasted delicious, and was well executed, except for once again, the garlic knot was incredibly oily. read more

Having seen this spot on the Slice blog nearly 3 years ago, they've apparently fallen off. Typos abound on the displays, and the gran ma ma was ok, but greasy & unevenly cooked. Paid cash due to the $10 card minimum. They share a name with the St Marks (EV) spot, but haven't researched if they're affiliated. read more

This is our neighborhood pizza stop. It's got all the pizzas you want to grab and go. My wife loves the Grandma pizza ( you can get the pie or the slice) which is made with sample flavorful ingredients. My go to slice is the Buffalo chicken which comes with generous chunks of chicken and a tasty buffalo sauce. The garlic knots are solid choice as well. The prices are reasonable and the pizzas are rotated regularly. Any time I have ordered a pie for pickup it is always hot when I get there and still hot when i get it home. read more

I just had a horrible experience with this restaurant. We placed an order through GrubHub. There were three items in the order, one of which was described as as fried chicken cutlet hero sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onion, and dressing. When the order arrived, what I received instead was a chicken cutlet hero with tomato sauce, which it was not supposed to have, no lettuce, tomato, onion, or dressing. Phoned the restaurant and got the most uncooperative idiot on the phone. When I stated what I ordered, he insisted several times that what he sent was what I had ordered, which it certainly was not. He said the error was "Not (his) fault," and kept insisting repeatedly that the fried cutlet with lettuce etc. was "Not what (I) ordered." Finally, after this surly imbecile kept saying that the mistake was mine, I asked, "Are you going to send me what I ordered or not?" The jerk said "No" and hung up. I despise this kind of exceptionally lousy customer non-service. Plus, don't morons like this realize that right after I hang up, I'm going to go describe this online? I'd tried them again after several years because of good reviews on Yelp. Needless to say, NEVER again. And to be honest, their pizza isn't so hot, either. read more

I love plain and simple, but if this is the best Bay Ridge has to offer at this point there's no reason to make the trek down. It's solid pizza...but just a notch above your average slice joint...and that's what it is: a neighborhood slice joint. Joe's in the Village is better which is tough to admit considering the icky tourist foot traffic and low brow word of mouth via untrained mouths. Here's my angle. Many long standing Italian neighborhood joints have gone steadily downhill over the years. Now that the original old Italian owners are 95 years old and essentially catatonic or 75 years old and in need of some well-earned R&R, they have turned over the establishment to cheap Mexican laborers with day to day management and leadership turned completely over to their head Mexican hancho. As much as I respect Mexican cooks, it takes original owners to continue traditions...and these places inevitably suffer. This is my idea as to why. read more

First time ordering. I got the chicken roll and it was one of the best I ever had. It was actually cheesy and the chicken was juicy. The crust is crispy, the sauce is tangy, the cheese is delicious. This will be one of the best under $10 meals of your life. Kick back and enjoy the beauty of Grandma slice. Counter help is very nice and the store is always clean. The regular pizza is pretty good, as is the baked ziti. The pizza also holds up pretty well if you get it to go, too. Only drawback is that it does get a little warm in the store if you eat there. The food was great in a classic pizza shop kind of way. I liked that it wasn't fancy, but it was still cheerful and clean. They were quick to take our order, and we made sure to get a variety. We got a slice of the margherita pizza, a garlic knot, and a sausage roll. The pizza crust was yummy with a nice crunch to it. The flavors were bright and fresh. The garlic knot is vampire-death, but I loved it. A nice texture and a different way of enjoying garlic bread. The sausage roll was different. I've never had sliced sausage meat like that . . . it was almost like a steak sub with the way the meat was inside, but it tasted like sausage. *shrug* I liked it, though. I would recommend each, but next time I definitely want to go back and try some other stuff, too, like the grandma pizza everyone is talking about. : ) Best news--there is a cupcake shop around the corner for a sweet after-dinner treat. What is a Gran ma pizza? Thats what we wanted to know with all the buzz and rage either online or word of mouth. Our familia decided to check out Nino's and try some of this so-called, "Gran Ma" pizza and boy was it good. The pizzas there are mostly thin crust (which I'm a fan of) and the sauce is delish, but a bit on the salty side so have your beer on hand. The chees gooey and the pepperoni just awesome. I didn't have a hard time scarfing half a pie with one hand and playing on my Playstation with the other. We're now hooked and say "NO TO PAPA JOHN'S AND YES TO NINO'S!" Sweet! read more

I'm hoping this is the correct pizza place I'm reviewing. I went here once before a chiropractic crack with my roommate to get something quick. I was wary of getting pizza for lunch (I'm not a huge pizza fan, especially after a night of drinking). But we walked in and I was like what the hell there's nothing else on the block that we could sit down and eat quick. I was dead wrong about not liking pizza hung over. Again, if this is the right place hopefully, I had a slice of chicken marsala pizza. I was floored. It was superb and tender, and the chicken wasn't dry, which was awesome. Maybe some people would balk at it, but its a great, huge slice, and the people in here all seem to know each other, its very communal......and thin. I definitely had to do the "Hamawpuf" and press myself against a wall to let people pass. read more

Definitely the best pizza in Brooklyn. I miss it even more now that we've relocated to Princeton. The Gran-Mama pizza is perfect--cracker thin crust, tangy but not sweet sauce, correct amount of fresh mozzerella. YUM! I'm salivating just thinking about it. We've eaten here/had delivery dozens of times. Highly recommended. They'll also sell you dough if you want to make your own ($5/pound). The service is a bit abrupt, but it's a pizza joint. I dunno what all the hub bub is with here, it's all basic fare, the specialty stuff may be good I dunno cause I've had nothing but regular pies for years and honestly it looks better than it tastes, sauce on pie is tangy that's good, cheese has sumn to be desired, crust looks good but honestly I think that may just be what the issues is, it feels separated, like it never took in the cooking process. You can literally peel the sauce/cheese off the overly thick by the way dough like a Lego pizza piece, sumn just ain't right here, and again the crust has NO taste. Honestly I could take or leave it under the worst circumstances but since I've almost always hit an option if leave it. But like I said this is just the plain pies, I haven't tried any of the things people seem to be raving about here. read more

I will never give this place a dime again. Messed up our order and didn't bring my meal. We called and they said they'd bring it "as soon as they can". 55 minutes later, still no food. Are you kidding me? You screw up an order you should make sure to get your customer their food not make them wait just as long as you would for am entire order. Okay, so after a friend recommend this place, I decided to try it. I've had two pepperoni slices ($3.50 each) and they were edible. That's it, just edible. The dough was rather thick and the cheese was oily. For $3.50 a slice I expect better. I don't expect Grimaldi's quality or anything but I expect something a little more edible. We just moved to Bay Ridge and finally found our favorite local pizza. We came in for slices (he actually got a chicken parm on garlic knots) and I got a slice of the margherita. Both were delicious... we went for a walk and on the way back decided we wanted even more and ordered a whole pie to bring home. The dough is delicious, cheese just right, and the flavor is there. Couldn't ask much for more in a pizza. The service was friendly and pretty quick. Only downside is their toppings are pretty expensive ($3-$4) depending on which topping you get. But if you're craving really delicious pizza it's worth it. read more

Most pizza places have your typical run of the mill pizza. But Nino's slices are flavorful and unique. I particularly enjoyed the white slice, grandma ma slice and sophia loren slice. And be sure to have a stuffed garlic knot, like the pizza they were also one of a kind. I will definitely be back. read more

My family's been coming here for years. It seems the business has changed hands a couple of times or that they have high turnover. Their price for a whole pie is fair at 14$ and 16$ for a Grand Ma pizza. The pizzas are generally fresh and taste better than franchise pizzas like dominos/papa johns. In my most recent visit I was disgusted when one of their employees were cleaning behind the signage and scrapping scum off. At one point when the pizza was coming out you could see some black stuff fall into it. Check out the photo I uploaded. I'm sure these things happen behind the scenes but they should have the sense to not do it in front of customers. Since I'm at it I recall an employee refusing to wear a cap because it would ruin his stylish gelled hair. It was his co worker or manager reminding him. read more

I live in Bayridge over 20 years and order from Nino's on 3rd Ave regularly. Tonight my adult grandson calls in the order..chicken parm hero, rice ball special and a side order of meatballs (my dog eats these). Order total $32. He asked to put it on the credit card and the wise a__s answers back that's too many numbers to take down can you pay cash? Grandson says why credit card machine not working? Wiseguy says "no too many numbers!" Grandson innocently says "ok then cash." Grandson tells me the story and I call Nino's back thinking they were joking or something and again " wisea_s says too many numbers too take down, want do you want to start a problem with me"?? I was dumbfounded and say "put the boss on" he says "he's the boss and not taking card because too many numbers!" I said "I will never order from you again for being so disrespectful to a regular customer" and he hung up on me. This happened 9/16@ 8:45. I hope wisea_s gets fired! read more
