I have spent a few months contemplating coming to this place because I'm not a fan of mall food. But the reviews finally convinced me to go give it a try! I went to eat dinner on a weeknight around 7 and they were a bit busy. I ended up sitting at the sushi bar because there were no booths available. The restaurant looked very clean and the hostess was quick to sit us. The sushi chef had several tickets and I was a bit worried it would take long to get our sushi, so we ordered an appetizer. The food was quick in coming out and our waitress was very helpful in answering our questions. I'm a huge ramen fan and I got the pork ramen. At the first bite, I was surprised it wasn't as salty as I expected. But after stirring the soup a bit and trying the pork, the flavors blended together perfectly. The sushi had enormous amounts of fish and was quite filling on its own! I will definitely be back for both sushi and ramen! The prices are great for the food portions. read more

This place is great. Sushi and Ramen are the main attractions for the restaurant, which are worth the money and the small wait. The atmosphere is very nice with great decor. The only issue with the restaurant is it quite small and can get busy. I try to go at least once a week, this place is fantastic with great service. But be prepared for a small wait on the food or to be seated. The food: The sushi is fantastic. They roll and plate everything exceptionally and always have great wasabi. The ingredients taste fresh and crisp with the flavors blending together very well. The Ramen - This is NOT your normal ramen. This is what ramen is supposed to be. They have a good selection of broths and meats to choose from, which taste great in any combination. The ramen itself has a great consistency and flavor. The Service: I have never had anything less than exceptional from the cooks, servers, and owners. This is the benchmark I set for all other restaurants. The Wait: Now, here comes the tricky part. There is a normal small wait, of around 10 mins for ramen and some other menu items, but you will have a bit longer wait for sushi, especially if it is busy. In my opinion, the food is worth the wait, and it isn't going to sit in a window, it will be made and directly to your seat, which is a redeeming quality which offsets some of the wait. The Prices: Worth every penny. It is around the normal sushi bar pricing and for the quality is great pricing for what you get. Overall, Nippon is a great value with exceptional quality dishes and exceptional service. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant, either dining in or getting it to go. read more

Service takes forever! Nothing about this place is quick. We ordered sushi and there was ONE other person in the restaurant... It shouldn't take 30 minutes to get our food. This review is for the laughing bao and Rock Candy ribs. Every time I have visited this place they had rock candy ribs on their menu but never had them available during my visit so I called before I came this time. When I ordered I told the waitress I wanted to keep the menu to possibly order more well a min later another waitress asked if I ordered I said yes and she took the menu without giving me a chance to interject (well ok I guess I won't be ordering anything else) when I got the Rock Candy ribs there is no indication of the rock candy anywhere or even a taste of it it was a let down especially after waiting so long for them to have them. (Check a photo I posted of the three ribs) Some spots on the rib were cold which leads me strongly to believe it was warmed in the microwave :-( :sigh: and then to make matters worse my go to which is the laughing bao usually a wonderful mix of gooey, spicy, crunchy deliciousness felt an awful lot like the bun had been microwave leaving it a bit tough and rubbery. Went to Nippon on a Saturday around 2. Seating is very awkward. My boyfriend ordered sushi which he liked, but his food came out about 20 minutes after being ordered. My food (pork ramen) came out about 35 minutes after being ordered. He was finished by the time my soup even came out. I wouldn't recommend the ramen. The broth was flavorless. Pork was tender and noodles were good but if they're floating in cloudy water what's the point? Corn was good too but I only had about 5 kernels in the bowl. Would not recommend or return. Really wanted it to be good since it had such good reviews. read more

Super high quality raw fish! I'm a sushi snob and always order a rainbow roll to gauge quality before making a larger order. I will absolutely be coming back...often. At first, I was a little surprised at the price of the roll as it is about what I would pay at my favorite sushi bar in Washington, DC. However, the rainbow roll had a huge portion of fish and was well worth the price. Ginger is freshly pickled. I can't wait to try the rest of their menu because it looked great. As far as I am concerned, this is the ONLY sushi restaurant in the Pensacola area. Trust me, I have tried them all and left disappointed...that is until Nippon. They have consistently given me amazing customers service, and delicious sushi. My friends and I have been coming here regularly and even cultivated a relationship with the staff that has been extremely rewarding. Went to this place ordered: -Ramen - spoon was served in the Ramen, I was told by the server it was in there somewhere...who does that. Ramen from package in Walmart has more flavor. I could have went home and took a frozen bag of seafood and created a much more flavorful bowl of Ramen. This could be from getting it to-go, but I could forgive some soggy bamboo shoots or noodles that weren't perfect. The thing that disappointed was the miso broth. I see the menu with it on there and this sweet pregnant waitress tells me we have to go next door to the "sister restaurant" to get it because they needed the business. Well it was not next door. I am gluten intolerant, but sushi is one of those foods I can usually order from a restaurant and safely eat. I make sure I order sushi rolls that do not contain ingredients with gluten and request that no eel sauce is added to the roll. So, it's a pretty simple request when I order to make the sushi safe for me, just "no eel sauce." I ordered 2 sushi rolls for delivery from this restaurant, requested no eel sauce for one of the rolls, and after an extended wait because it took about 1 hour for the restaurant to put these 2 rolls together, I received a roll so covered in eel sauce that it dripped over and under the other roll rendering both rolls of sushi inedible for me. I rarely order food out because of my intolerance, so this meal was meant to be a treat for myself. Instead, I waited an hour for my order only to receive food that I can't eat. Save your money; there are better sushi places in town (literally one across the street and another down the road) that are capable of making sushi quickly and getting your order correct. read more

Today was my first time eating at Nippon Sushi and it was amazing! The food my family had was 100+% delicious, the waitresses were nice enough, and the man who made my sister's and mother's sushi was super nice and I personally enjoyed the company of conversation we had going. The restaurant itself was orderly and clean, very calm and comfortable environment and the menu has so many choices of Sushi that it's so hard to choose until next time! This is definitely the place to eat at and enjoy and I would definitely recommend eating here! (In fact, I'm thinking of making myself a regular customer, lol). read more

We were greeted by one of the servers who was extremely friendly and accommodating to our group, we had a group of 8 and the restaurant had very limited seating and is very small. We waited about 7 mins and then were seated by the friendly server. Sadly she wasn't the server who would be serving us. We then were greeted by the most hostile server we ever had the unfortunate luck to meet. No smile, no kind greeting, no patience when taking our drink or food order. Absolutely no social skills. Being part of the service industry myself, I tend to be an amazing tipper and a very giving customer but this server did not deserve a single percentage from any of us. Stopped by Nippon for a mango bubble tea smoothie earlier today. First of all, it's a very small space and it was a bit awkward to be so close to others...strangers. The server who took my order was a bit unfriendly. While we were waiting on the smoothie, my granddaughter sat in the chair that was in the middle of the room. Nevertheless, another server approached her and was very rude, telling her to move the chair because, "we do have a walkway here." I stated that she didn't move the chair there...it was there to begin with. How disrespectful can an adult be to a child, especially one who was tired and sat in the empty seat she saw. She could have simply asked to move the chair without all the other unnecessary words. What if it was her child, would she feel comfortable with someone talking to her in that tone? If the answer is "no," then why do it to someone else's child or grandchild? Have you ever tried Japanese food cooking by a Chinese? It tastes Chinese oil and cheap food. It is consulting Japanese food meaning. What they call " cucumber salad" is small pieces of cucumber mixed with soy sauce. The sushi we had wasn't that great also. Hopefully they can improve it read more
