Came here recently for gel manicure and pedicure. They do not have a very good selection of gel colors. Because of this I spent a lot of time trying to find a color to match what I wanted on my toes. Nothing was an exact match, but I picked what I felt to be the closest. A woman, who I assumed to be the manger, came over to help me match the color. But when I told her what I picked she told me I was wrong, and I should "trust her" to use the color she picked. I politely declined saying I tried all of them, and even then she kept insisting she was right. It was very uncomfortable. The gel manicure itself was not very good, unfortunately. Wasn't even a week before it started to peel off! Photos show how my nails looked 1 week later.... I've had some gel manicures I can get to last 3 weeks! Super disappointing to spend so much for a bad manicure. The woman who did my nails was great- she was very patient and kind. I might try them again, but def not for a gel manicure. read more

Came here to get a mani pedi. The pedicure was just ok - went without a hitch and the chairs were relaxing but they did not scrub my calluses the way that other salons do. For my manicure, my nail technician cut my cuticles kind of aggressively and I ended up bleeding a little. Some of my nails ended up bumpy as well. On the upside, I did not have any wait. read more

We've been going to Nirvana for many years and post pandemic, it was the first nail salon that we felt comfortable entering. They are extremely clean and careful. My husband is a constant customer of Lee. She is truly amazing not only at pedicures but her massages leave him relaxed. I normally get a regular mani, pedi and 15 minute massage. Just had to deduct a star because the second visit was disappointing to say the least. I still think this place is great and the prices are awesome, but the woman that did my nails this time was lacking. She is a bit older and although she was sweet, she did a terrible job. 5 stars for Nirvana. I came to use this Salon when my former Salon closed: I am much happier here! It's a lovely Salon - spotlessly clean with cheerful owners and workers. Silvia does my nails every Friday and she's fantastic - always on time for my 9:30 appointment and a friend as well. My nails look beautiful and her neck massage while my nails are drying is the best. The prices of mani/pedis are very reasonable - far more reasonable than my former Salon. Sadly the service here is not consistent. The second time I went in I did the same mani-pedi combo as the first time and my experience was not nearly as great as the first. My manicurist rushed through things and left out the foot mask and a few other things; the mani and pedi themselves were also very average. read more

This is really disappointing, but I'm officially done coming here. I made a 9:30am appointment for Friday, March 16th. I was assured that they would be open, but lo and behold they were not. I had a mani-pedi for $50. The lady who worked on me was not good. I would say she did a decent job on my pedicure except that she cut my cuticle too short and it bled. On the other hand, the manicure was somewhat hurried and did not end up professionally. When she made a mistake like creating bumps and bubbles, she, instead of re-doing that nail, removed them with her own nail and re-applied nail polish on that area only. I have seen manicurist uses her nail to wipe off nail polish on the skin around my nails, but nothing like this. It was lazy and unprofessional. read more

Nirvana is a terrific salon. Before the pandemic, it was immaculately kept. Now, even more so. The owner is taking every precaution to make sure her customers and staff are protected, with temperature checks on arrival, sign-ins and plexiglass barriers. I was there last week for a mani-pedi, my first since March, and I felt completely safe and at ease. And so happy to have had some much-needed pampering. Best manicure and pedicure I've had in NYC! The service was incredible, the staff is so friendly, and I could not believe how high quality the service was for the price- $30 manicure/pedicure, with brief shoulder massage, hot oils in the pedicure, and some special lotion thing that the technician did on my hands that I had never had before but it was amazing! I tried this salon because they offer less toxic nail polish. But what is toxic is the owner the way she runs the shop. I went in one Sunday for a mani pedi and was upsold to a deal that did not include a mani! My bad, I didn't have my glasses on and was kind of exhausted. BUT I came in for a mani pedi! In the middle of my pedi, with a young woman who was being very careful and gentle, the owner barreled over rudely and notified us that she was pulling the woman for a previously booked appointment that had been overlooked. There was no discussion, no apology, no offer to make it up to me in any way. The woman who took over was a brute. She cut one of my fingers so badly that it became infected and required Polysporin. It still hurts days later. After the switch I realized the issue with my deal, which offered a fancy pedicure (which never really is) and a 20 minute massage. When I told the other that I thought it included a manicure she said I could add one for 12.50 - no offer at all to swap the massage for a mani, even after switching out my manicurist so rudely and abruptly. I told the owner that I didn't want a 20 minute massage in the chair because my lower back can't handle it. she said fine, I could get on a table in the back. When time came for my massage, the manicurist (who barely speaks English) made me follow her downstairs - where she made me take off my clothing and said that I had to add ten minutes for the massage to be on the table. I told her that the owner said it was ok to use the table for the 20 minutes and I didn't need or want another ten minutes (which by the way costs 12.50 the price of the manicure she had just done). I could have said no but she was so forceful and insistent and promised I wouldn't be disappointed. But I was. She was a brute again, with no real idea of what she was doing to my back. I know that there are very good manicurists there but I will never go back. The owner is a rude bully and I get the sense she is running a sweat shop, where there is a great deal of pressure to upsell move fast. By the way, if you want the less toxic base and topcoat you have to pay two dollars extra. So they offer Zoya color for free but if you truly want to be less toxic with your nails it will cost you. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if let me. I am SO incredibly upset and have been crying all evening. This has been my go to nail salon for awhile, I have a very important event that I purchased nail stickers for and the salon assured me they knew how to do them. (I had prefaced repeatedly if they did not know, I would not be offended and would go somewhere else but come back to them for regular manicures). So the women doing my nails Pami did not even put a regular polish and just placed the stickers (they've come off less than 12 hours later because of this). They were not smooth. I paid $35 for a gel manicure that lasted 12 hours that didn't even give me a polish. When I told her they were not correct, she just looked at me and said "you're done". Who treats a customer like that? Do not go here and do not trust them ever - they would not listen. I provided instructions on how to do them and instead the owner had the audacity to take a phone photo of the instructions for future reference. Worst experience ever and they have ruined my nails for a once in a life time event. I am so upset. The owner was so forceful and the nail technician cared more about getting another women's manicure to make more $ than making mine look good. As a result a $35 manicure lasted 12 hours and they didn't even put on polish. NEVER EVER come here. read more

I also just moved into a house so I figured my nails would be ruined within hours... it's now Thursday and there is not a single chip! I don't think I have ever had a regular manicure last so long! This is a long overdue review. Do not go to this salon if you plan on using a Groupon voucher. I was a regular at this salon for quite sometime before I decided to actually take advantage of the Groupon special. In the middle of my pedicure the owner accused me of using a GROUPON voucher previously when I told her that I never used one before. She then proceeded to tell me that I needed to pay tax on the Groupon (which was not a problem). THEN she told me that a tip was required. Mind you I always tipped for my previous services so I'm not quite sure why she felt the need to tell me that. FYI people in this industry need to understand that tips are a courtesy and are based on the service PROVIDED. A customer is not required to leave a tip. Decided to check this place out because of the positive Yelp reviews. I went in for a regular pedicure and dip/powder manicure. I was initially happy with my visit, until within a week of my manicure the color came off of four of my nails. I called the salon and spoke with a man who said I could come in the next day to get it fixed. The next day I show up and there is a woman at the desk. I told her what happened and that I was told I could get my manicure fixed. The woman gave me a hard time. She looked at my nails and told me my manicure looked more than a week old. I offered to show her the date I paid on my credit card to prove to her it hadn't been more than a week. She then said 'No, no, I trust you.' They did end up fixing my nails but the poor customer service and the fact that the nails didn't even last a week means I won't be coming back to this place. read more

I recently visited Nirvana Lash & Nails Spa for a regular mani-pedi and let me start off by saying when I first walked in, it was incredibly nice inside! My actual mani-pedi was done very carefully, and came out amazing! They really take their time with everything and make sure you like everything including filing and application. I normally opt to do my own nails, so I consider myself a little more critical. I so badly want to give this place 5-stars but unfortunately they tried to up-charge me at least 4 times, and weren't very open about the costs of those "upgrades" and simply asked if I wanted "an extra massage" not explicitly stating it cost extra. I understand that promoting services a customer may not know about is necessary, but I clearly stated over the phone and at the nail-salon more than twice I was there for just a regular mani-pedi. I definitely would recommend this place to a friend with a slight warning that they will try to up-charge you on certain things, however despite that, I will definitely be back! read more
