Jalapeno Cheddar Bagel with Veggie Cream Cheese
    Vivek D.

not the best bagels, but not the worst in LA (will explain why later). I came here twice on my work trip as I'm a breakfast person and needed a pick-me-up in the morning. I ordered two different bagels both times. The first day, I ordered a Jalapeno Cheddar bagel (apparently Jalapeno Cheddar's a thing in LA???) with Veggie Cream Cheese. Bagel was pretty big I thought. Maybe they should've cut it in half, but that's okay for this review. I've seen the jalapeno cheddar bagels around here place the jalapeno on top of the bagel. I do wish they try the East Coast method (or at least the place by me) where the jalapeno pieces are lumped into the bagel batter itself. It's somewhat smoothed out, I'd think. Maybe LA will learn in a few years or so. The second bagel was an egg and cheddar on an everything bagel. On the positive, at least the eggs weren't microwaved. Portion sizes don't beat what I get at home, but can't be spoiled. Noah's apparently is a chain, so that's something to keep in mind. But sometimes when traveling, choices are minimal. Also - side note: the orange juice was pretty damn good. Plenty of seating inside, but I enjoyed sitting outside on the street enjoying the morning breeze. Fortunately, lines weren't as long at around 8-9am or so (maybe the UCLA kids weren't awake....)

BEST pumpernickel bagels, really. I halve, scoop out a bit of the interior, halve again and freeze 2 out of 3 to be thawed, toasted, m'm...

Below my original review from Dec 16, 2018 which somehow ended up on a page for the now closed, Manhattan Bagel (Believe me, I was never there.) with the listed address (10910 Lindbrook Dr Los Angeles, CA 90024) identical to Noah's NY Bagels' address I initially reviewed (I was definitely there). Perhaps I posted to the wrong page???? Nope. But now methinks, I may be going crazy... 2018: Noah's NY Bagels, back in the day, could be found in nearly every suburb, not as prevalent as Starbucks is today but definitely there when in need of an authentic, un-supersized, well executed bagel. Still waxing nostalgic, in my 90210 days I would schlep to the Pico/Beverwil store for a non-traditional fave nosh, potato flour/cracked black pepper bagel. Alas both the bagel (and that store) is no more as I was no doubt the only patron who bought that bagel, perhaps shopped that store... Fortunately, a few Noah's NY Bagels stores are still around, still serving up an authentic, un-supersized, well executed bagel in a variety of flavors. Hubby has been on a quest for THE best pumpernickel bagel. He did some intel. I did some research. There's flour and there's flour. Potato flour, my fave as previously stated (carbo junkie that I am) is not as nutritious as pumpernickel flour. Pumpernickel flour is dark, unbolted/un-sifted, nutritious, a low gluten content flour that comes from coarsely ground rye berries mixed with a soupçon of caraway seeds then transformed into bread or by Noah's expert bakers into a 250 calorie disc of deliciousness. We, hubby and I bought three (should have bought more) to-go pumpernickel bagels and couldn't wait to get home to test drive 'em. Result: total goodness, BEST pumpernickel bagel hands down! As we're still pretty much Whole 30, paying attention to carbs, we immediately sliced then scooped out most of the middle of each bagel à la Weight Watcher's in preparation for freezing. Full disclosure, in the interest of research, taste testing, we devoured every scooped out crumb from those three bagels. So much for Whole 30... Quest officially over! But enough about us. OK, a bit more. We feel so lucky to still have Noah's NY Bagels in business, especially a store we can walk to, a store where quality and service thrives. Noah's NY Bagels is a go-to for Westwood neighbors, UCLA and surrounding commerce for breakfast, lunch. Noah's NY Bagels can cater your next residential or corporate party, a good thing to know with holidays rapidly approaching. 2024 update: Noah's NY Bagels is still my/our destination for absolutely THE best pumpernickel bagels in town! P.S. This review was recently tallied/credited on my page as a new review. It isn't and should be removed from my review total. It's just an update.

I am so thankful for this place that is located next door to a Starbucks that doesn't have any seating. The staff were polite and kind enough to let me know that I could charge my phone. The French Toast Bagel with cream cheese is so ono (delicious)!!! I will definitely look for more locations whenever I'm traveling.

    Lox bagel sandwich

Came in 15 minutes before closing. Didn't know they closed at 2pm. Staff was friendly. I got a lox sandwich and a few bagels. The lox sandwich was not good. The bagel was hard and the cucumbers and onions were cut so thick that when I took a bite, they fell out. Maybe quality is better during the morning time? I was disappointed to be quite honest. Not sure if I will come back because I have had better elsewhere.

Service was good, but the brew coffee was lukewarm. All the thermometers on the different coffees were turned off. There was no line in the service on my latte was very quick. I would say I would come again if it was the only choice but I certainly wouldn't make it my first choice. But they were very gracious, and they immediately made my wife a latte for no extra charge. So I have to say that the service definitely excellent and I don't think they would do that at Starbucks. They would do a pour over. Also, Starbucks next-door does not have a bathroom which is amazing, but these guys have a very clean bathroom and filled with locals.

Them cheddar jalapeño mugs were good!

The bagel comes with cream cheese, salmon, dill, capers, tomato, onion, lemon and olive oil and black pepper. The combination of flavors is ridiculous. Every single ingredient is fresh and high quality. All of the ingredients add something to the bagel and make it a perfect bagel imo. I think this place must fly their tomatoes in straight from Eden, as in the garden. I have never had a fresher, great tasting and beautiful tomato as I did here. I know that's wild to say about something like a tomato but it's the truth. I don't even eat tomatoes in that form, it was the first bite of a sliced tomato I ate in over 20 years. It looked so great I had to try it, especially because I wanted to eat the bagel in its most genuine form. My Wife loves bagels, it is one of her favorite foods. It was her favorite bagel as well. We ended up going here twice. We went on our last day of vacation prior to heading to the airport. I got a plain bagel with butter and honey, WhatKevEats inspired the order. It was also delicious however, not as good as the smoked salmon.

My favorite out of all of them are the sesame bagels, but the burnt ones are pretty good too. I've had a sandwich here and while they are really really good, I personally feel it's better to just buy the bagel plain and the ingredients (or custom ingredients) and just make them yourself. It's not really that hard. I did that this time. I bought a bunch of bagels, then turned them into breakfast sandwiches. One thing that's random though is every time I'm craving a bagel, it just happens to be on the day they're closed haha. Then I have to remember that I wanted a bagel for the rest of the week and then go. But this time I did!!! I'm so glad I remembered because I absolutely love these bagels. The service here is really good. The ambiance is chill if you sit on the patio. It's nice. I don't usually turn my gps on when I come here though so sometimes I accidentally drive right by it because I miss the yellow umbrella. For some reason I can't remember exactly what street it's on but there's always a bunch of street parking so it's a nice place to go to. I should come here a lot more.

Herby mayo, hot sweet peppers had a hint of spice, pastrami was soft and not too salty, egg was fluffy. It was a good bagel sandwich. However, I don't think I'd reorder this. LATKE Crispy and savory. The sourcream and apple sauce together was delicious. Absolutely loved the apple sauce, which had a beautiful texture and sweetness that was addictive. The star was the applesauce! SALT BAGEL, EVERYTHING BAGEL, CACIO E PEPE, EVERYTHING PUMPERNICKEL BAGEL All of the untoasted bagels except the Cacio e Pepe, had a firm outer texture, a bit hard to tear apart with hands. Inside the bagels were dense, yet had a light chewy texture and not dry either. Toasted, they were even better. The outer crust was beautifully crispy and the inside bagel was soft and chewy. The beet cream cheese was delicious with all the bagels! Cacio e Pepe was soft all around, unlike the other bagels. Cacio e Pepe had a light cheese and black pepper crust. It wasn't full of cacio e pepe flavor right off the bat, but still enough to know what you're eating. If you ate only the top bagel, I think you'll get the best of this bagel. Still good all around, even toasted. I think it will be great as a bagel sandwich. Everything Pumpernickle had a good pumpernickle flavor in addition to the everything seasonings. They did not skimp on the seasonings! Every inch of that bagel was covered in seasonings! Favorite Bagels: Salt Bagel, Everything Bagel BEET CREAM CHEESE Delicious! Smooth, creamy, almost buttery! This is whipped cream cheese with roasted beet puree. Light in beet flavor, it had dill in it too. I was hesitant in getting a tub because it was on the pricier side. But it was so good, glad I got it! SEATS / AMBIANCE It had a lovely East Coast diner feel when walking in. But still, the space felt a bit cluttered. There were booths, counter seats and outdoor seats too. It was packed inside on a Wednesday lunch. Got there before noon. CUSTOMER SERVICE Overall good, friendly service. Staff was smiling and that's always a good thing! Went on a Wednesday before noon, but it was nearly packed. PARKING Horrible. Just horrible. Street parking only. There's a few spots directly in front of Belle's, but it's metered parking too and also it was full. It's parking that always makes or breaks your experience when driving to LA. After driving around to find a decent parking spot, I finally found one close to Belle's, but after parking, I realized it was a loading zone. So hurried to get my food to go and just ate in the car. Overall, I enjoyed the bagels here and would love to return for their bagels and lunch offerings.

We take our number and go sit and wait at the small blue tables outside like most everyone else. Strike one was their being out of fresh made orange juice, something that should NEVER happen at a bagel purveyor... oh, and my coffee? Was only technically that. Seriously. It tasted more like tea to the point that I questioned whether or not they in fact got my order wrong and it was that. Flavorless. (2/10) I like my salmon bagel and the ratios were pretty on point with there being maybe just a tad too much cream cheese. For $20, this was what I expected and I appreciated the quality olive oil drizzled over the quality ingredients to keep it all moist. Loved the tomato and capers. It's a big meal and half of it went home for later. (8/10) My date's bagel was a nightmare though. Thick wedge of cream cheese on a barely toasted bagel, she had to wipe half of it off just to eat it. And as for this being a "hatch cream cheese?" Like calling my brown water broth 'coffee,' I'd suggest that it only technically met up to the definition: there were 2-3 little chunks of hatch chile. Seriously. Two or three. The white cream cheese hardly had any smell or taste of hatch chile. I know as I ate the other half she took home. Dispel any fantasy you might be harboring of that cool, greenish cream cheese with real chunks of smoked hatch chiles because that doesn't exist here. (2/10) So there you have it. For close to $40 when you factor in tax and tip? This was barely a 3 star bagel experience. Order with care and intention.
