Don't understand the popularity of this restaurant. We have eaten here a couple of times when visiting Stonington and the food mediocre at best. I had chicken quesadillas and the chicken was gristled dark meat. Tortillas were very greasy. Salsa didn't even taste like it had any seasoning. My Italian husband had linguini and cicken - dry, dry, dry. Won't be talked into going back here again!!! read more

Went with another couple for "buck a shuck" oysters. We arrived early and enjoyed a drink at the bar. The bar was full of older locals and the drinks were strong! Some of the appetizers were good, others were not so good. The oysters were served promptly and there were no limits! If you have nothing else, get the oyster stew. For such a great location, what a disappointment!!!! Although I went at a slow time (I sat at the bar where there were 2 other couples), the bartender's service was lacking. After I ordered my drink, he disappeared for about 15 minutes before finally taking my order. I ordered clam chowder and "Mexican spiced" grilled salmon. The chowder was ok. It was chock full of clams, which I love, but they were all rubbery and impossible to chew. The salmon was a HUGE let down. The salmon itself was the smallest piece I have ever seen, maybe 5 bites worth. Also, I could barely see the salmon on the plate as it was smothered in a tomato avocado salsa. Because the avocados were placed on a hot piece of salmon, they turned brown and looked very unappetizing. I stayed away from the salsa. As for the "Mexican spice", I tasted none of it. I don't think the salmon was seasoned at all. Speaking of bland, the rice and beans served with the salmon were pathetic. The rice was overcooked and dry with 0 seasoning to speak of (except some sort of minced greenery sprinkled on top, maybe parsley??), not even salt. The beans were the same. I think they just opened a can of black beans and plopped it on the plate. Overall, my experience at Noah's was bland, underwhelming, and unimpressive. I will not be returning here any time soon and recommend you don't waste your time, money, or palate on this sad little restaurant. If you're in the area, definitely skip Noah's and go check out Water Street cafe. read more

Great service, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food is incredible! There is even a bakery inside that has fresh bread and treats daily. The food is inventive, fresh and always delicious. You do have to be careful and check to see if they are running any specials so you don't get surprised. Highly agreeable! read more

I left feeling disappointed. I've gone to Noah's for years and I was shocked after receiving a meal today that was not up to their usual standard. The three slices of bacon were cold and limp, the potatoes were sparse, and the French toast was slightly dry. Had dinner at the bar, I think they ruined the dinners of all the customers sitting at the bar in one way or another, bad service, screwing up the orders, understaffed, etc....I don't think they even cared, think the staff was just waiting to get to get to their own meal at the end of the night....waited about an hour, they forgot our appetizer, half of the swordfish I ordered was all fat....very disappointed, won't go back... read more

Went there for lunch last weekend mildly excited after reading all these solid reviews... FYI we've been coming to Stonington several times over the years and we usually eat in Mystic or the Dog Watch Café, but thought we'd try something different. What was not the fault of the restaurant was our immediate impression with the menu which we read outside. it wasn't really what we wanted for lunch so we walked a block to the other restaurant (Water Street café?) and we were not into the menu there so because it was cold we went back to Noah's. Why we weren't into menus at these places was that we have small children who are finicky eaters. AGAIN, not the fault of this or the other restaurant. Once inside Noah's and seated was where I had an issue with it. First no one asked us what we wanted to drink. The bread that was given us for the table was rubbery. The food we ordered took over 40 minutes to get to us and the place was only half full. We ordered sandwiches and got a ridiculous amount of lettuce on them. Honestly I never saw so much lettuce. Even if I ordered a lettuce sandwich at a restaurant it would not have been half as much lettuce as was given. No one really liked or disliked what they ate. The waitress never checked on us and it took forever just to get someone to give us the check. When we left - we live an hour and a half from the area - I felt we wasted a good destination laced with great restaurants with one that just wasn't for us. The menu didn't have the variety we needed. The service was off. And the food at best was maybe a notch above a chain restaurant - not even. But the brunch menu looked good. Maybe breakfast is their strength. Anyway, we know that area well and enjoy many eateries there when we go two or three times a year so this was a miss-step for us. read more

A nice, cozy restaurant in a quiet area and serves very fresh food. Everything seems to close at 5pm, but this place closes at 10pm or so. We ordered fettucine with basil pesto and the pasta was so fresh! Not the boxed stuff! The pork cops with apple chutney was cooked to perfection! So juicy and cooked medium and loved the flavors of the chutney! The sea scallops were seasoned and cooked perfectly! We had a few kids and since they don't have a kid's menu, they were able to serve the fettucine in small portions with butter and cheese. The kids enjoyed that! We had to order desserts, since they are freshly made daily. We had the peanut butter pie, which is a thick fudge bottom with peanut butter & peanut crumbs on top. Rich and delicious! Our friends had the pavlova (egg white meringue) with a scoop of ice cream and fresh berries. They said it was delicious and had to order a second one because the kids ate up the first one. The service could've been better, but they were busy and a little understaffed, but they were pleasant. This is definitely a great little place! read more

My wife and I visit the Mystic area once or twice a year, and we always make sure Noah's is one of our stops. It's so small and unassuming you would hardly notice it if you weren't looking. We generally go for lunch as dinner tends to get a little pricy. Most of the time we will skip appetizers (which, the few times I've had them, were just okay. The chowder is so/so, and I think I've had a split pea soup special there that was pretty good). The entrees are always incredible and fresh. I generally get one of the specials (one of the few places I will order a special) and my wife loves the noodle bowels. Our biggest complaint is with the service. They have never been rude, per se, but sometimes when we go there we feel like we're bothering them. What's your order, here's your meal, here's the check sort of thing. Once our waitress left for her shift and no one took over so we sat awhile waiting for our check (not realizing our waitress left). Also, as I said, we usually skip the apps in favor of dessert. Their desserts are fresh made and always delicious (although sometimes a little on the skimpy side, especially considering the price). The problem being that our waitress usually brings our check without asking if we want dessert. So we've only actually had it a couple times. I definitely recommend going for the meal...and bug your waitress for dessert if they have the Boston Blackout Cake. I'll leave on a high note...They make their own cream soda...and I love a good cream soda. read more

Loved Noah's breakfast, possibly the best I've ever had!

Very disappointing and this was their third chance. I took friends there in July because the sausage was homemade. It was becoming lunch time so it was not available. The waitress was not good at all. We heard specialty drinks being offered at the next table but not at ours. We asked for a memosa and it arrived about ten minutes later. Today we went back thinking maybe it was just a bad day. Again no specialty drinks were offered then after two requests, our memosa came but not with the fresh squeezed orange juice but she took a commercial brand to the bar, after we asked for the drink a second time. No sausage was available today either. The omelette was tasty but not exceptional. I would not recommend Noah's again. read more

Dined on a Saturday night with 3 friends. Menu has great amount of variety and choice but not so many that you wonder how can they do them all well. I like they clearly marked vegetarian options. Their bread was nothing special and was not baked on site. They could have forgone putting it on the table. Had the chips and guacamole, good, but not as flavorful I have had. House salad was excellent, well dressed and very fair price at $3.95. Had a local wine, and noticed they had a few local wines on the list. It appears their aim is to offer local options when possible. I had the fettuccine with basil pesto sauce and it was good, a iittle dry perhaps, a drizzle of a nice olive oil would have helped the dish. Perhaps a sprinkle of shredded parmesan also. My friends had the salmon, grilled scallops and fried scallops and all thought the dishes were very good. We had desserts, having sat next to the dessert display we couldn't resist! Tried the raspberry layer cake, it had nice flavor, but a bit sugary, didn't taste the raspberry as much as I would have liked. If I had it with coffee instead of wine, I would have enjoyed it more I think. Service was very pleasant, but was a little slow. We were enjoying each other's company so it didn't bother us too much. Usually a very reliable informal restaurant with an interesting menu heavy on local seafood. Soups especially good. At dinner this week, one special that needs much work is Penne Amatriciana. Their version had a San Marzano tomato sauce with pancetta and onions that looked great, but tasted of vinegar (?) and the pancetta had not been crisped as is usually the case. Not sure how the vinegar got there, but it just doesn't belong. Maybe they used some wine that had turned? read more

I went to Noah's last week for breakfast and was very disappointed. I ordered the "John's Healthy Breakfast" (a cup of fruit, a cup of oatmeal and a scrambled egg). I wanted my egg cooked over easy, because I dont like scambled, but was promptly told that there were no changes allowed. So I ordered the egg sandwich with an over easy egg instead of the over hard egg that it comes with and was told again that the chef wouldn't make it! I don't know why this place is reviewed so highly. Ive never heard of a restaurant that wont make such a simple change. Our server was excellent, really the only saving grace of this place. Had the opportunity to return to Noah's after 17 years and it was still as good as I remembered it! Fresh, local and all in house. Had appetizers one evening there and returned for lunch the next day to sample their great baked in-house bread, cold soups (Thai Honey Dew Melon and Gazpacho). The lobster roll on a slightly toasted potato bun was fantastic, piled high with warm, large butter covered choice pieces, had difficulty fitting into one's mouth. Happened upon Noah's last year and was excited to go back this year. Great food simply prepared, and the best desserts! Blueberry pie/crumble with vanilla ice cream couldn't be beat. Friendly service and a great vibe! Prices range, and just right. Can't recommend it enough. read more

If I could select negative stars I would. I am not one for negativity but I felt compelled to share my experience. This restaurants service is so bad that it makes me want to buy a piece of real estate and open a restaurant just so I could take away their business. The hostess/owner is absurdly rude and incompetent. We arrived as walk ins at 10:20am and did not eat a morsel of food till 12:30. We were prepared to wait as walk ins and were told 30 minutes in that we would be seated in 10 minutes. That obviously didn't happen. We only received our food when I got up to track down a waitress to find out how much longer we would have to wait. We saw many tables sit after us, eat, pay and leave before we even got our food. When I told the owner it was unacceptable her excuse is "we are backed up". Sorry not a valid excuse when people are in and out before us. My piece of advice for the owner is to come down to Fairfield County and see how a real restaurant runs their business. This place would not last 2 months in this area , with how they treat their clients. The worst part about it is that the food is no bad at all. It's just that the service is disgusting. Just because we were walk ins doesn't give you the right to treat us as if our business doesn't count. You should be careful how you treat people. You never know who they are. The owner is old enough to know that. She should know better. But I guess when you are the only breakfast place in town you can afford to loose customers?????? read more

One star for good location. We had a wonderful meal last year at a Stonington restaurant so when we saw Noah's, we hoped we might find an open table. It was 7 pm on Saturday, granted, so we were prepared to wait or not find a table for two. It was the attitude of the staff that shocked us. The hostess looked at us as if we'd requested a banquet room, pointed to the dining room and said "We only take reservations there." Then she swept the bar area with her hand and said, "It's first come, first served in the bar and there are two couples in front of you. You could wait, but it will be at least 45 minutes." There were open seats at the bar, but these were not offered. We decided not to wait and as we left the hostess quipped "good luck finding a table in town." Very rude and unhelpful. Skip Noah's. Drive 10 minutes to Mystic and dine on the water at Latitude. Great service and food and no attitude. read more
