I liked the atmosphere. We'd been eagerly awaiting this place to open and were excited to go for my husband's birthday. When we got there they said it would be about a 40 minute wait so we put our name down and went to the bar to wait for a drink. After 45 minutes my husband went to ask about how much longer and was told 30-40 more minutes. The guy wasn't very nice and somewhat rude...kind of just blew it off saying they'd been open for 4 days so sorry...Oddly he walked my husband to the bar to get our tab for us. I thought for a moment maybe he'd comp our drinks and we'd just stay and wait for the table but he didn't and just didn't seem to care so we left. I understand they don't have much control over table turnover, it just could have been handled in a much nicer manner. Was very excited about going here. Loved the atmosphere, super fun. The food seemed delicious, but they have very limited gluten free options. Options that are gluten free are marked GF, but that included two appetizers and three salads. The menu states that one can ask they server about "making your selection gluten free". Well, they have no gluten free pasta for mac and cheese, no gluten free buns for burgers, and no gluten free bread for sandwiches. Went in there for a beer and a meal. Ordered the brisket chili which sounded good. My order was no cheese or sour cream on the chili. It came out with both sour cream and cheese. I peeled that off and tasted it, the chili was not cold, but just warm. They came back with another bowl, but by that time I was done with their offering. It was not crowded that night, so how could a bowl of chili get cold? People not paying attention to the customers and their food orders? Plenty of other places in Glen Ellyn and Wheaton that provide better service. read more

First timers - enjoyed delicious food, unique but not weird menu and great service from Jimmy at the recently opened Nobel House. More and more I look at a menu where it seems everything has sriracha or jalapeños and I look for something to settle for. Opposite experience here - there were so many items that looked good that I couldn't decide! had a lobster roll and coleslaw, and my husband had the Market burger - 2 beef patties with bacon, blue cheese and berry BBQ sauce. He enjoyed a side of made-in-house bread & butter pickles and onion rings. They rings were amazing (I "borrowed" a few) - sweet onions in light batter, and I love when the onion doesn't pull out and slap you in the chin on the first bite. Check it out! This place is amazing. We tried many of the dishes available. Definitely check out the burnt ends, Dynamite shrimp and lobster roll. You won't be sorry. Great atmosphere, the staff definitely pays attention to details to make sure your experience is top-notch. Staff and owners are super friendly. A welcome addition to downtown Glen ellyn's bar/restaurant scene. Meats are all smoked on the premises. Just be careful once you check it out it may not want to go anywhere else anymore. read more

I hadn't been into the Nobel House since the expansion, so my fiancé and I finally went in for a late dinner last night. We shared the Cali smoked Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and brussel sprouts. Absolutely the best turkey sandwich ever!!! The turkey was so fresh, perfect amount of avocado & whatever else is in that heavenly sandwich....I'm not typically a sandwich girl but OMG I could be converted!! It was so good that I asked my fiancé if he could bring me lunch from here on our wedding day! Lots of choices of beer and they even have a nice assortment of ciders that most pubs/restaurants don't offer. I usually have wine but it was a nice change for a summer evening. Love Love Love the food. Love the staff. I almost put it at three stars though because the noise level was INSANE. My daughter, who is not someone that usually reacts to sound said it was waaay too loud for her. That was before they started blasting the basketball game. Our party could barely understand each other and most of the meal was spent repeating ourselves. The food is delicious. We had the brussel sprouts, tater tots, and sweet potato fries as sides, I could just eat a meal of those. I had the lobster roll, very very good. My husband had the smoked chicken, unbelievable flavor. My daughter loved her hamburger. We will probably be ordering food to go there in the future but I definitely will be hesitating to sit down and order a beer and some food in house again, due to the sound level. read more

My husband loves BBQ - I liked that there were other items on the menu. I thought I had found the perfect compromise SOOOO disappointed that they have no idea how to cut brisket - Making it super chewy - they chef should cut across the grain - he has made it chewy and gross. This place is going to be a smash hit in Glen Ellyn. No question. As time goes by I'm confident they will iron out some of their issues as it obviously only opened a few weeks ago and will take time to mature. I'll break my review down into a few short bullets. Host: Average at best. Mostly kids who could give two craps about being friendly when greeting customers and showing them to their table. For an average tab in the neighborhood of $100 I expect better. Atmosphere: The owners pretty much nailed it and have come up with a concept that is greatly lacking in Glen Ellyn. When you consider other restaurants in the area they scream SUBURBS! In NH I feel like I'm in a trendy place in the West Loop. Seriously, nice work NH! However, the TV situation needs work. The video distribution system is poor. When watching the TVs spread around the dining room you can see how poor the video quality is. Also, for a place to watch sports the TVs are way too small and they pay zero attention to the content they are tuned in to. For a place that will print money, they really cheaped out here. Food Service: For a place that just opened it was OUTSTANDING. Loved our server Alyssa who took great care of us. Seriously, the place was jam packed and she did a fantastic job. Apps: Fried pickles are legit. Get them and you won't be disappointed. I'd equate their frying process to tempura and it's awesome! Mains: I had the smoked turkey sandwich and it was quite good. Wouldn't order it again but still thoroughly enjoyed all the way around. The wife had the two+two. She got ribs and brisket with Mac and a veggie. Someone else complained the bbq was dry. Well, that's because they don't serve crazy fatty bbq dripping in fat. I personally appreciate that and can taste the meat and sauce better that way. Not to mention the fact it's healthier. While I'm not a big fan of vinegar based sauce the NH rendition was the star of the main course. In general we both thought all of the bbq was outstanding and can't wait to try more items on their rather large menu selection. Lastly, worth noting is the portions are massive. We easily ordered enough food for 4 people and will have to order less next time! Owners, if you're reading these please look into your video distribution. You obviously are encouraging folks to come drink and watch sports. Unless that gets addressed I won't be one of those people. Plus, most of your TVs have completely meaningless games on or a talk show nobody cares about. When other high profile games are on in addition to local teams playing please prioritize them!!! read more

My review is based on two different visits. The first visit was on a Sunday around noon, for brunch. Our server was fantastic, and the food was delicious! I loved having so many vegetarian options to choose from and opted for the fried pickles as an app, and a veggie burger for lunch. We had a nice seat by the front and the windows were open, so it was beautiful! We loved NH this day. 5/5 My second visit was during 'Sounds on the Street' to grab some drinks and was absolutely terrible. I came in from the festival specifically because I wanted a Truly cocktail, and love that NH has Truly on tap for this! Of course the place was very busy, as expected, but after waiting 17 minutes (exactly) I finally asked a bartender if we could be helped because we had been there for 15 minutes. I saw at least 3 people come in and get served before we did. The woman bartending (a blonde) got EXTREMELY snippy with me and said (and I quote) "You haven't been here for 15 minutes. I don't care what you say, it hasn't been 15 minutes. We are busy. People have been waiting longer than you." And then walked away. A manager who was behind the bar was also overwhelmingly busy, but explained they were busy and would be back. The sassy bartender came back and took our order, and we had our drinks in 2 minutes and were on our way. I did not argue with the sassy woman, but that is 100% not how you treat a customer. I understand it's busy (I served for 5 years myself), but that's not okay. We will not ever return to the NH after this experience. 1/5 read more

My friends and I came here for the first time on a Thursday night and we loved it! It was about 8:30pm, so we were seated immediately and it wasn't too loud in there at all. We tried a couple of mixed drinks which were ok, but they have a great beer selection on tap! We tried a several food items: -Smoked poutine with chopped brisket: Delicious. The cheese seemed to be of quality (not some Kraft nonsense, but like real melted cheese curds). Excellent brisket and delicious sauce on it. -Kansas City Chicken: Amazing. The skin had the perfect balance of smoky and sweet flavor and it was cooked perfectly, not dried out at all. -Texas Chop: Love. The BBQ sauce and the brisket mixed with the cheese and the caramelized onion went all so perfectly together. And you gotta love those sweet and spicy B&B pickles! So Addicting! -Nashville Hot Sandwich: Perfection. The right amount of flavor and seasonings. Fried to crispy perfection and juicy with every bite. With a side of sweet potato fries, you can't go wrong! -NoHo Burger: Yummy. As delicious as you would hope a burger would be! The regular french french fries were the perfect side. -Brussel Sprouts: Fantastic. This side dish deserves it's own mention because it was just that good! The flavor of the balsamic with the bacon jam is addicting. These were truly perfect in every way. We had two servers helping us out throughout the service, and they were both super friendly guys! They chatted with us just enough without being intrusive, and they got our orders down perfectly! We did have to go and request our check since we were waiting for a while, but that's alright. Nobel House is a cool, quaint spot in downtown Glen Ellyn, with what looks like a sprawling beer menu and this seems to be their focus. The Decor is nice and you can tell that this is one of the go-to dinner spots around town, being that I'm not from here though, it kinda failed to impress. I'm not saying that I wouldn't try it again, but I also don't get out to Glen Ellyn much and I would probably try a different restaurant. I got the Alabama Chicken and my partner got the Brisket, the food was good, however, I'm pretty sure my chicken was still pink and this was confirmed when I got sick later. The service was alright, nothing to write home about. Maybe I'd check Nobel House again just to give them another chance, but again, I don't come to Glen Ellyn every day so probably won't be anytime soon. read more

This was my first time visiting this new Glen Ellyn establishment. It was quite happening here on a Saturday night. We put our names down and we're told an hour or so wait. This was no big deal since we planned on just grabbing a quick drink across the street while we waited. About 45 minutes later we got a text saying that our table was now ready and hurried over. We were sat quickly and our server greeted us. I noticed a slight attitude but it got better as the night went on. I don't blame her though since it was kind of crazy inside. We got our drinks quickly and grabbed the poutine for an app. This poutine was outstanding in every way. I highly recommend it. Since there were three of us we decided to split three entrees. We went with the steak salad, bbq tacos, and the texas chop. All of them tasted great. The only let down was that the steak was over cooked. I asked for it medium and it came out well. Good solid average/slightly above. Very loud and crowded. The cocktails looked good, though I didn't order one. Service was good, and friendly. I liked that you give them your cell number and they text when your table is ready- so you can walk around when the wait is long. It also tells you what number "in line" you are. From all the good reviews I read about the shrimp appetizer and lobster roll ($19. A bit on the expensive side as far as the very small size and small Portion of fries with it)...I expected a bit more- same for the Brussels too. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was good quality, just a bit lacking in flavor/hotness. Probably would not come back here/recommend it with the other local options available, but I'm glad I checked it out. read more

Came here for dinner this past Saturday. Place was jam packed which is typical since it's located in downtown Glen Ellyn. Luckily we were able to steal some seats at the bar so that's where we stayed. They had a lot of draft beer choices. I didn't realize this going in but the menu was really focused on BBQ and smoked meats. Not the only thing going on but definitely the focus. We got the burnt ends appetizer. Dave really really liked it. I thought it was ok. The Brisket has that nice double smoked char and texture but sort of a strange sweetness to it. Also there were like 4-5 chunks neither of us would eat as they were 100% just fat. Next we split a Pulled Pork Sandwich with Brussel Sprouts as the side. This I would definitely order again. The sandwich itself was flavorful and a nice touch was that the sandwich came plain but on the side you got sweet pickles to add if you like and two bbq sauces in little sauce dishes. I liked the thicker sauce more. Brussel Sprouts were amazing and will forever be part of my order. What I really liked too was that we casually told the bartender we were splitting so it came out as two perfect little portioned out meals, half sandwich, half Brussels, both plates with the side sauces and sweet pickles. Nice of them to do that to start but even more impressive for it to be done when they are on an hour+ wait. We originally wanted to try their lobster rolls when they teamed up with solemn oath brewing, but they sold out quickly. So we decided to order from the restaurant. The lobster rolls were fantastic! The surprise though were there sides. The onion rings were good even though we prefer battered over breaded. The baked beans in the other hand were absolutely the best baked beans we have ever eaten in our entire lives. Sweet and smoky and delicious. Amazing! normally, i love nobel house. never had a bad meal. until sunday 10/6/19. three of us had lunch around 2:00 my cousin had the pulled pork sandwich. fabulous, his wife and i both had the chopped salad, even the same dressing. tasted great. four hours later, we were both sick with what i can only assume was food poisoning. had it been the flu, she would have given it to her husband. we both had it all night and all the next day. a very unpleasant experience. i'm always leery about ordering salads in restaurants, because i wonder if they wash their greens. lesson learned. read more

Came into Nobel House with some friends. I liked the layout a lot. It's a casual bar and restaurant but with some class too, more of a city quality, and an open concept which I personally like. I had the half of chicken which was so tasty l got two sides with it. The Brussels sprouts were amazing and the charred broccoli was great.
