Visit June 2026: Squid Pasta. Incredibly tender squid
    Jeff R.

Visit June 2026 This visit was born out of documentary on Chef Nobu my wife watched on our flight to Japan this Spring lol. Apparently this site is recently opened and with all of his properties Chef Nobu came to oversee the grand opening a few months ago. Came here for early Father's Day and to celebrate one of my kid's MS graduation. Located on the boardwalk with outdoor seating and bar that blends into an open air restaurant, you don't get a view of the ocean really but it's nice and fresh air. It's simple but classy looking inside. Nothing ornate. Food was definitely on the $$$$ end but the quality was excellent. Our server, Adil along with his assistant Matthew, were excellent and attentive. They both gave personal recommendations which I appreciate. Food came spaced out in courses per Adil's suggestion. Two starters, Crispy Rice Tuna and a special sashimi. This was followed up by two hot plates; squid pasta (literally slices of squid not pasta) and Wagyu gyoza. Then this was followed up by sushi rolls: softshell crab, negi toro, the Coronado roll and salmon avocado. Dinner tasted incredible with lovely presentations. For dessert, we ordered the Bento Box (matcha gelato and a chocolate cake) and Adil also gave my daughter a complimentary mochi ice cream dessert for her graduation. Drinks: I got the Nobu Old Fashioned which used Michter's 101. Really good and strong. The graduate got a martini and her sister got sake. This was a great celebratory meal and everyone had a great time.

Great food. Great service. The ambience was chill and engaging. There was a lot of movement going on but still calm. I'd recommend folks to try the sushi options and lobster tempura! Plus the spicy seafood soup.

We dined at Nobu as party of 4 for a graduation celebration. Our reservation was at 6:30 pm, but we arrived early at 6 and were able to be seated right away. Our server, Ke'Ante, was absolutely amazing. While there wasn't a true omakase option on the menu, he helped us curate our menu for the evening. Everything was delicious, and we really loved every dish.

Enjoyed a little bite to eat with some good drinks. We were lucky to get seats at the bar. Service was great. View was amazing. You can never go wrong being near the beach.

Sometimes everything aligns just right--setting, service, flavors, and occasion--and you find yourself in the middle of a truly unforgettable meal. That's exactly how I would describe our 40th anniversary dinner at Nobu Coronado, nestled within the iconic Hotel del Coronado. The Del was glowing for the holidays: Wizard of Oz-themed Christmas trees, the beachfront ice rink shimmering at sunset, festive shops, and a buzz of energy throughout the property. All of it was made even more impressive by the hotel's beautifully completed multi-year restoration, which has elevated an already legendary destination to a new level of brilliance. We arrived for our 6:00 p.m. reservation and were promptly seated, warmly welcomed, and wished a happy anniversary--an early sign of the thoughtful, polished service that would carry us through the evening. The staff struck that perfect Nobu balance: attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without pretense, and genuinely warm. We began with miso soup, mushroom soup, and the iconic Yellowtail Jalapeño. The miso soup was comforting and refined, with silky tofu and a clean, savory depth. The mushroom soup was equally satisfying--earthy, aromatic, and layered with a variety of mushrooms that gave it real character. Then came the Yellowtail Jalapeño, a dish that has achieved near-legendary status across Nobu locations worldwide--and for good reason. Paper-thin slices of pristine yellowtail were topped with garlic paste, razor-thin jalapeño, and fresh cilantro, all swimming in that signature citrusy yuzu soy sauce. Bright, balanced, and addictive. Robin cleverly added some of the yuzu sauce to her mushroom soup, instantly elevating it to a whole new level--chef's kiss. For our mains, we shared the Miso Black Cod and the Lamb Anticucho, a pairing that showcased Nobu's mastery of both seafood and bold, global flavors. The Lamb Anticucho was outstanding: tender, succulent lamb coated in a richly spiced, savory-spicy marinade with hints of miso, garlic, rosemary, and herbs. Deeply flavorful without being heavy, it delivered complexity and comfort in equal measure. The Miso Black Cod--Nobu's most famous dish--fully lived up to its reputation. Perfectly glazed, delicately caramelized, and impossibly tender, it practically melted on the fork. The black cod's natural richness was enhanced by the umami-packed marinade of white miso, sake, mirin, and sugar, creating a dish that's both elegant and deeply satisfying. It's easy to see why people rave about it; this is a signature for a reason. We closed the evening with hot tea and a beautifully presented Yuzu White Chocolate Cheesecake--an ideal anniversary dessert. Bright, creamy, and balanced, the citrusy yuzu cut through the richness of the white chocolate, while the accompanying citrus sorbet, meringue, and delicate shortbread cookies added texture and contrast. It was light, refreshing, and memorable--just like the evening itself. From the breathtaking setting to the impeccable service and flawlessly executed dishes, Nobu Coronado delivered a dining experience worthy of both the occasion and the legendary Nobu name. A perfect meal, in an unbelievable location, marking a milestone we'll always remember.

Was able to have an amazing lunch here with the hubs and his coworker! We shared so many of the dishes! I Had a pineapple martini we had sashimi, mushrooms, chicken and edamame! Everything was superb. The service was efficient and our waiter explained all dishes to me since it was my first time there. The ambiance there is beyond amazing right on the Coronado boardwalk with views of the ocean and ice skating rink! Pretty sure we will be back!

I took my coworker May here during our nursing conference since it was just her birthday just a few days ago. Nobu faced the Coronado oceanfront alongside the other high-end restaurants, like Serea. We were unable to get seating outside but the restaurant was fairly open so we could still watch the sunset. Our server was very knowledgeable and had memorized all the nuisances of each drink and food item. Between him and his colleagues, their knowledge, timeliness, and seamless execution were praiseworthy. From the cold section, the toro tartare was incredibly delicious. The tuna texture was delicate, exquisite, and fatty. The caviar and wasabi topping added a complex buttery, briny texture. Presentation was breathtaking, the way the tartare was housed in an exterior shaved ice bowl. The soft color scheme of pastel greens added to its ambience. Amongst the hot section, we ended up picking the black cod miso. It did not disappoint. It was perfectly caramelized on the exterior. The flesh was well marinated, imparting a deep, savory flavor. The interior was moist and just fell apart in your mouth. The miso glaze added a lovely umami element to it. The accompanying ginger flower sprout had such a lovely sharp, citrusy undertone to help cleanse the palate in between. For sushi, we got the house special. I cannot remember what it was called or what was in it to be honest. But the flavor combination and textures were delicious. The tempura balls on top added some complexity to the roll. Lastly, for dessert, we ordered the bento box, which consisted of a lava cake and a scoop of matcha ice cream. The lava cake was more of a souffle style that was intensely rich. It did not flow as much as I would have liked. The ice cream was smooth. The matcha was able to balance the lava cake. The contrast of hot and cold was lovely. But I think it was my least favorite item we got. Overall, this was excellent fine dining, which of course came with steep prices. But the quality, presentation, service, and beachside ambience were well executed. I would definitely love to return to Nobu!

I came here on a Monday night around 7 PM, and the experience was incredible from start to finish. The decor is absolutely magical. The space is beautiful and creates such a special atmosphere. The service was outstanding, and every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We had: * Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna * Fluke Sashimi Dry Miso * Yellowtail Jalapeño * Sea Bass Dry Miso * Rock Shrimp Tempura * Wagyu Dumplings * Lobster Tempura Truffle Amazu * Shrimp and Lobster Spicy Lemon Sauce * Japanese A5 Wagyu * Rolls + Sashimi The Japanese A5 Wagyu had an amazing presentation and was definitely a highlight of the night. Honestly, everything we tried was delicious. The vibe here is fun yet relaxing, making it a great place for a special dinner or a night out. In my opinion, this location is 100x better than the original downtown spot. We had one of the best meals here, and I highly recommend checking it out!

An exceptional dining experience from beginning to end. The cuisine was impeccable, but the highlight of the evening was our server, Ke'Ante. His attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine warmth made my boyfriend's birthday celebration feel especially memorable. Thoughtful service and impeccable hospitality elevated an already outstanding meal. We look forward to returning.

I loved that crab was used in multiple dishes, like the warm dish and soup. I wish the nigiri was bigger in general, on the smaller side compared to other spots. Tuna lovers will appreciate how many dishes had tuna. The warm dish (seabass w hairy crab sauce) was one of my favorites, the hairy crab sauce consistency reminded me of banh canh cua. A normal meal. A casual San Diego ramen situation. Incorrect. What actually happened was that my child experienced a culinary event so powerful it rearranged her internal belief system. She took one bite and immediately declared it her "favorite meal ever" and "the best sushi on earth," which is impressive because those are two separate categories of food, but honestly I respect the conviction. At that moment, she became a tiny ramen prophet. A noodle evangelist. A sushi sommelier of chaos. I was no longer her father. I was merely the adult with a wallet and transportation. The ramen was fantastic. The sushi was fresh. The whole place had that magical "we actually care about what we are doing" energy, which is increasingly rare in a world held together by parking apps and spiritual fatigue. Then, as if the first visit had not already altered the timeline, my daughter made me go back the next day. Not requested. Not suggested. Made. There was no negotiation. She had tasted the mountain and demanded we return to the temple. So we did. And it was still excellent. BESHOCK is now officially part of our family lore. Somewhere between "remember that time we saw the ocean" and "remember when your daughter discovered ramen and briefly became a food critic possessed by a joyful sea dragon." Highly recommend. Bring your children only if you are emotionally prepared for them to ask to come back immediately.

When I arrived, they had a long waitlist for inside seating but we got lucky because there was a table available outside. I didn't see any heaters outside but it also wasn't cold when I went. I will say up front, that it was a bit on the pricey side. One onigiri was $8, but it was a huge onigiri. We also got the Neapolitan noodles, and wow, it was so delicious! This thing that impressed me the most was their gluten free noodle options! It did not taste or feel gluten free, I had to double check with the waiter. Plus they didn't not charge extra to substitute to the gluten free noodles and I am grateful for that. Lastly we got the hot tea pot to share and it was so much tea! It was delicious. They served it with a tea candle so the tea stayed warm the whole meal. I really enjoyed this place, definitely check them out.

Even the bathroom had a heated toilet lol that's very Japan like. The food was pretty good. We got the omurice which my husband ate so fast, it's on the sweeter side, the egg could've been a little more runny but it was still good overall. We got the karage chicken, it was very flavorful and the breading was light which I liked and it didn't taste too oily. The curry was super good, the meat was tender and the curry sauce itself had a little spicy kick in it but still super flavorful. Also we got that huge tuna mayo onigiri which was like super sized but it was $8 so yea. It had a lot of tuna and it was packed really well. I was so full but the dessert looked amazing. We tried the matcha latte it was good but tasted just like sugar and milk lol There is no parking, u have to find street parking and there's no cross walk so u basically gotta jay walk if u park on the other side. Also the place isn't that big so it's not great for big parties, maybe for a family of 6 is the most you can accommodate. There is bar seating and limited outdoor seating.
