It has been 3 years since my initial review for this place and after eating here again with my son, I decided it's time to update it. This is still a 5 star establishment with delicious food and great service! I have ordered from here several times in the last 3 years but an update was long overdue. I ate the Lord Combination Plate that comes with Chicken Thigh Shish Kabob and Beef Shish Kabob, along with rice, salad, hummus and pita bread. I opted for the roasted tomatoes at an extra cost as well. My son had the Mix Luleh Combo Plate that also comes with one skewer each of beef and chicken along with the same sides. Absolutely delicious, FRESH, great quality meats and ingredients! Good portions at a good price as well. The restaurant is clean and there is a cute indoor patio if you decide to dine-in, however this place is right next to a car wash and can get loud with the constant sounds of the cars drying as they exit the wash. Keep that in mind if you decide to eat here, or you can pick up to-go like many others do. Highly recommend trying this local business the next time you need your kabob fix.
The cashier was very nice and explained the menu very well. The food was delicious and great quality. I got the soltani kebab. The parking lot is not comfortable and the noise of carwash by the side is very loud.
NoHo Cafe is a quaint little diner. They offer counter service and it seems they largely serve to go. While they have some seating inside, the proximity to the car wash and the fact that their indoor seating had large gaps for air flow in the roof means that the quite loud car wash is ever present. I tried the Lamb Kebob combo and found it delicious. The lamb was well seasoned and cooked and the rice and bread were great. I'm still giving this location a 4 because as a take out place this place is great. However if I were rating it based on sitting down to eat, it would definitely be a 2 or 3. The sound of the car wash is just too loud to allow for an enjoyable eating experience. Good food, loved the staff, the noise of the car wash is a bit irratating.
First off the food was great. I don't really have any complaints. The Lamb was seasoned well, but their salad was just alright. I substituted the rice for the fries, and got tzatziki instead of hummus. However, one of the reasons why I am giving this spot a 3 star is because of the setting. It is placed right next to a car wash, so it is very loud and I would only see myself taking the food to go. In addition, I came with a sports team, so there was quite a few of us. We had everything all on one bill, and the lady who took my order didn't ask if I wanted the tomato and pepper. Later, we realized she charged us extra for that side. Some people from my party do remember her asking if they wanted the tomato/pepper, but she never specified it would cost extra, and they assumed it was part of the meal. At the end of the day, I was one of the many who weren't given a choice. If she had asked me from the start, I would've denied the extras anyways, even if it was free or came with the meal. I don't think I should have to pay for something I didn't order myself. I think if you are going to offer specific items to customers, you need to make sure you are specific about the charges/extra costs.
Craving some Mediterranean food and decided to check this spot out. I ordered two noho plates, they bring a beef luleh, one steak skewer and a chicken skewer. It came with hummus, rice, salad, and roasted tomato/ jalapeño. The meats were very flavorful but out of the three the beef luleh was superior. The rice complemented the plate nicely. The hummus was an excellent addition and I enjoyed every bit of it. Next time I will probably just get a luleh plate! If you pay in cash you do get a free soda. A few notes on what made me drop a star, 1. No itemized receipt, paid $58 for two plates of food and saw her add a $3 charge as well as a $5 charge 2. The roasted pepper wasn't fully cooked & the salad dressing was thousand islands. 3. There's parking but it is right next to the car wash which can make it difficult during certain times of the day
The restaurant is located directly next to the Car Wash. It's a little bit drafty and you order from the counter. Very large menu multiple items. Excellent selection. I ordered a Shawarma, which had good seasoning. It was way too salty. The salad had a slight chemical taste to it, but the dressing was good And the french fries were crisp. Service was five star, but the salting of the food dropped it down. Since the car wash was open and noise level was very high location was clean, however but I doubt I will be back because of the noise level.
Have you ever yearned to consume a Middle Eastern feast mere feet away from a car wash? Fill your tummy while the sounds of water jets and car vacuums rumble in the background? Watch soapy water trickle toward your dining area? I bet you do! Well, look no further my friend because Noho Café is at your service and ready to give you that dine and car wash experience! Gives a whole new meaning to drive-thru! Okay, I'm obviously being facetious and bringing a bit of comedy to Yelp but it is no joke that Noho Café, a local, family-owned Middle Eastern eatery, does in fact reside practically on the lap of a car wash at the corner of Laurel Canyon/Oxnard. This is most definitely an 'interesting' choice to hold real estate so unless you are really into watching people clean cars; it is best to purchase takeout. My date and I were searching for a quick bite in the area and he insisted the food was delicious (and also claims Yelp); so we did indeed dine-in the small, almost food-stand like restaurant. And let me tell you: it is loud and unusual! Not really the best ambiance, to say the least. Despite this absence of atmosphere, I was curious to see if the food is as amazing as touted. Noho Café's menu consists of the usual fare: kabobs, schwarma, hummus, rice, gyro, salads, yada yada and so forth. My date and I were going to eat family-style and order two plates amd share it half-half and went with the Lamb Kabob plate (comes with rice, tatziki or hummus, side salad, pita- $17.99) which we substituted Cherry Rice - or so we thought: it was actually $5.99 extra and the Chicken Luleh Kabob Plate ($13.99). We also each ordered a canned soft drink that broke the wallet at almost $4 per can! YIKES! Our food arrived rather quickly (in takeout styrofoam containers) and we were starving to dig in. Unfortunately, I'm going to the outlier here because I have NO idea what all the raving reviews regarding the food are about. Did I eat at the wrong place?! The lamb kabob was decent and large chunks of meat but nothing to write home about. The salad was very poorly dressed with a tiny amount of red wine vinaigrette pooled under the greens and the hummus was some of the blandest hummus I've ever had: it was in dire need of both salt and acid. Even grocery store bought hummus in a container is better! The Chicken Luleh was also mediocre: not horrible but not exceptional with the same poor salad situation and tatziki that is just as monotone as the hummus with no flavor or salt and was almost like eating straight Greek yogurt. The star of the show was the Cherry Rice - which although cost extra -was quite delicious with re-hydrated dried cherries in saffron rice. Overall though, this food was NOT it and not at all worth the $50 dollar check. There is way better Middle Eastern food available nearby for less cost. I do have to note that the customer service at Noho Café is exceptional even though the food is not. Eating at Noho Café is like eating at a Middle Eastern grandma's house. The women behind the counter/serving are SO kind and friendly and were very concerned with our view of the food and even offered a freebie sample of the crispy rice. Even though I was very uncomfortable with the car wash situation and not pleased with the food; these ladies are definitely pure puddles of love and are an absolute joy. There isn't much more to be said about Noho Café as it is simply a weird location and the food is subpar and overpriced for what it is making the positive Yelp reviews questionable. It is the lovely customer service that boosted my opinion from two to three stars. Noho Café isn't terrible but there are wayyyy better Middle Eastern choices in the immediate vicinity so unless you're about that car wash; this place can be skipped. Next!
I've driven past this cafe so many times and didn't even realize that there was a hidden gem there! Came in for lunch and was greeted by a sweet woman who took my order. It's definitely a mom and pops joint so you'll feel right at home immediately. I ordered the chicken shawarma with salad and the chicken didn't disappoint! It was tender and flavorful, just what I needed to satisfy my appetite. I do have to say that it's a small spot so there is no restrooms available for customers but if you're getting your car washed, you can use the one there and walk over.
The Lentils soup was delicious! And the $6 lunch bowls we ordered were scrumptious, especially for the price. A bit of a language barrier which came across aggressive but the food made up for it!
Just came in there and ordered a chicken kabob and beef kabob combo, and a side of falafel.. She charged us $30, and asked if we wanted a roasted tomato and pepper for additional $2 and I said no because I've never heard of this ever and usually when u order a combo or plate it comes with it... Well that wasn't the worst part... what's worst is the food is not cooked all the way especially the chicken! I'm so disappointed but I'm glad I didn't order 2 plates like I intended on doing at first.. Me and my mom shared the plate but we can't eat it cus the chicken is raw still. Also the falafel is brown on the inside.... I'm half Egyptian so I know falafel is usually green in color. I'm not sure why it's brown inside. The rice has no flavor at all! Big time disappointed! First time ordering from here and it was solid middle eastern food. My order was delivered in a timely manner with napkins and utensils . Only negative : stingy on the pita bread, only one piece. For a $ 22 entree there should be 2.
Really enjoyed the food here! It's more of a place you'd take out from rather than dine in, especially cause it's located right adjacent to a car wash. It would also be great for catering for Mediterranean food. They serve mostly kebabs with all the typical fix ins - rice, pita bread, hummus, tzatziki. I got 1 chicken kebab and 1 steak kebob with rice, hummus, pita, and tzatziki. The chicken was juicy and so was the steak. Flavor was on point for both and the char marks from the grill were delicious. I really enjoyed the hummus and pita, they tasted classic. The tzatziki unfortunately didn't taste so great or flavorful but luckily I had some of my own at home. The store manager was friendly and the food came out quick. I do think they have some limited seating but again, more of a grab and go kindve spot.

I and my wife ordered chicken breast kabob and NOHO combo plates which had Excellent texture and flavor. The lady who attended us offered us a special condiment that enhanced the flavor of the dishes. The rice and the side salads and humus were also excellent. Definitely we will be back with my daughter who loves Mediterranean foods. read more

Was craving some kabobs for dinner and this place did not disappoint. This is a small place located right next to a car wash and auto body place. Parking is not that bad. It seems the parking lot is shared with the other businesses. Got in and was greeted by a lady with a smile. I felt very welcomed. We let her know it was our first visit and she quickly helped us narrow our selection. I got the Lords plate. The misses got the beef soltani plate. It's a big plate. Lots of food. Took about 10 minutes. Food was hot as if it just came off the grill. In the great words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, I'll be baack, fooor sureeeee. If you are feeling some Mediterranean food and are in the area, I definitely suggest you try this place out. Tip - pay cash and you get a free can of soda as of the date of this review! read more
I was craving Persian food after a meeting in the area. NoHo Cafe had high ratings, so I drove right over! We had a little difficulty finding the restaurant, but we got it on the second try around the block! It's right on the corner of the car wash (at the southwest corner of the street). As soon as I saw the location, I knew it had to be good. And indeed it was. My chicken was excellent. The beef koobideh was juicy and flavorful. The rice was perfect. The grilled tomato was heaven. Parking is a breeze - there are designated spaces right as you pull in to the driveway. I will definitely return! read more
Healthy and plentiful plates at noho cafe is great! Really enjoyed how delicious but not overly salted the meats, right amount of flavor was happening here! The chicken was tender and with a clean bite under that perfect char/reddish tint. Goad the same for the luleh. Wow, I can't believe this is rated so high. Yelp has definitely found some hidden gems for me and I was excited to try this place for I grew up around here and I never knew about this place. I mean it's gotta be legit with so many 5 star reviews and the giant banner of Yelp's top 100 places to eat. Parking: They have like 3 or 4 parking spots. That's it. I had to find street parking on the side after looking for additional parking next to the car wash. Dine in experience: I wouldn't recommend dining in. It is hot with no AC and being next to a carwash, you can't hear anything every time the air dryer goes off and it is extremely loud. I tried checking in for a free drink and got denied. I couldn't hear well but I think she said it is for to go only and if you pay cash. Food: I got the Noho special and it was not special. I saw pics with hot cheeto flakes on it but mine didn't have it which I didn't mind so much. But the biggest issue was that I found it all to be very bland. Overall I believe it was a 3 star experience but minus 1 star for the parking. read more

Once again, this place never disappoints me nor my craving for some good Ole Armenian food made from the heart. The ladies here always have and still treat me with the utmost respect and always recommends me different food to try each time. They keep this establishment so well maintained like its their own kitchen at home. On to the amazing food, the chicken breast pieces are so tender and well marinated in whatever they marinate their meat with. The rice is something different (very delicious) I could eat the entire thing. Now, this place was voted and rated on Yelp for about 2 or 3 years in a row, and I know why. The food is good overall but the reason why I left 3 stars is because I wanted a garlic sauce and paid 2.50 cents to get more. I did see that it says small so I thought it will be at least a decent size however it was an extremely small sauce pack which in other places charge only 50 cents more. 2.50 for such a small garlic sauce is a really high price. I paid 22$ for a plate of food and should be getting decent amount of sauce. They did have a 5$ bigger sauce option but comparing with this im not sure if it will justify the price. read more

Hello NoHo Cafe!! This is a fun spot to put of your food adventures. A quality small business with lots of charm. Top notch falafel and some of my favorite. The hummus is subtle but lovely. I unfortunately haven't been able to try the garlic sauce yet and was looking forward to my recent deliver order to finally enjoy but it was left out, as well as one small substation. The grilled veggies are some of the best I've had and the salad is pretty standard, the dressing brings it to life. Overall this is a great long standing neighborhood spot and I will be back for more and the garlic sauce!!! The restaurant has a laid back diner meets fast food sit down style feel. It's very inviting and well kept up. The have canned and bottle beverages for sale, which I've seen at a few middle eastern style spots. Good health and safety practices as well! read more

Soho Cafe serves up some delicious Persian food! I called in and ordered 7 meals to-go and they had it ready within 30 minutes! The owners are very friendly and courteous; definitely embraced the mom and pop shop and always ensured my order was made quickly and accurately. I ordered 7 plates including the Beef and Chicken Luleh Kebabs and both meats were juicy and flavorful. The chicken plates came with hummus and the beef plates came with tzatziki on the side. Both were creamy and delicous which complemented the dishes nicely. All plates came with a side salad, a large pita bread and little bags of sumac were also provided. Before gathering all the bags to go, the owner reminded me that each plate comes with a drink as well. She handed me an empty bag and I headed to the refrigerators to fill it up with an assortment of 7 drinks. The smile never left her face as she continued to thank me as I headed out. I've been coming here for years. I knew about this place because it has always been rated as one of the top places to eat in Los Angeles. I always enjoy eating here, since the food is always consistently delicious. The ladies inside are always really hospitable and keep everything very clean. I'm always happy to stop by and enjoy my food while watching what is going on out on the street. Thank you Noho Cafe for keeping this amazing restaurant running efficiently all these years! I was totally convinced by the reviews and was totally disappointed! Got delivery through Grubhub (which was great) but wow - the food was NOT GOOD! Ordered chicken thigh and beef combo with an extra kebob of lamb AND a veggie combo. The dolmas were good but that's about all I can say favorably about the food. The falafels were dense, bready and oily. The tabouli was dry and seemed (smelled) packaged for about a week. Hummus was tasteless. Sorry I spent $60 for two plates of mediocre food. read more

Great question! The only gluten on our plates would be the Pita Bread, which is optional. For Vegan options we have the Veggie Delight #23 and Veggie Garden #24.
