The food is amazingly delicious. Red beans and rice are to die for. Our group ordered a mix: crawfish étouffée, jumbalea, gumbo and red beans & rice. The group favorites were the red beans and rice tied with the gumbo. That being said, it was a tough choice because it was all delicious. The restaurant is a small, neighborhood restaurant. While not fancy, it has full bar and the service was great. When we got there, the bartender was tending bar and serving. At some point, the owner arrived and jumped right into the mix. It has a friendly and homey atmosphere. If you want fancy, go downtown. If you want authentic and very reasonably priced, check out this gem!! We will be back! read more

My partner and I came here way back in January and I've been thinking about the food since then so I figured I should finally get to writing a review! We ordered the Nola Sampler Trio to split as well as an appetizer sampler that included pickle spears, jalapeño poppers, and Cajun cheese fries with red beans. Everything was so good. The Nola Sampler Trio is great if you're indecisive like me and want everything - it includes a small cup of gumbo, crawfish etoufee, and red beans and rice. Our favorite was the red beans and rice which meant the cheese fries were also amazing. They're kind of like chili fries but you get that red beans and rice flavor instead. They're covered with a melty mozzarella and it's perfect. The pickle spears had a good crispy breading and came with a tangy, creamy sauce on the side. The poppers were good too but comparable to other places. Can't wait for our next visit/take out order! read more

Best beans and rice I have ever had. I rarely make bold statements like this, but I was completely gobsmacked by the quality and flavor of the dishes in this neighborhood jewel. I have no clue where the idea of pouring crawfish etouffee over cheese fries came from, but that person is a culinary genius. The staff is friendly, and the service is prompt. Coming from Nola native, this place is hands down the most authentic Nola food in Denver. I've tried many spots in Denver and nothing comes close! The cheesy red bean fries were so delicious; we scraped the plate clean. The catfish and shrimp poboys were also delicious; the breading on both were perfect. The food was delicious . I had the gumbo and the fried green tomatoes. They were both very yummy. The fried green tomatoes were probably the best I ever had! However, I was very uncomfortable in the restaurant because some guy who appeared to be homeless was leering at me as I got out of my vehicle, approached the restaurant, and went inside. He then followed me into the restaurant and stood at the door looking at me. This made me so uncomfortable that I switched to another bar seat further inside of the restaurant. I was looking for some good Cajun food in Denver and this little place popped up. The atmosphere is very Nola. The place standing room only by 7:00pm on a Saturday night. The service was quick and friendly even while they were slammed with customers. They only had two folks working the floor and the bar. Impressive. Goodbye, Aurora! We parked, shepherded our toddler past a toothless woman demanding respect from no one in particular, and stepped inside. Immediately, I felt like I was back in NOLA, minus the badussy and tourists of Bourbon Street. This place wasn't crowded, wasn't loud, and I saw not a single hipster. Looking around, everyone seemed happy to be there. Our server was friendly and helpful, bringing my Turbodog and our other drinks quickly. I was in the mood for catfish. She ordered the oyster po boy. We agreed that both were the best we've had around metro Denver. My catfish tasted fresh and the cornmeal breading was spot-on. My late grandmother would have approved... The bread on the sandwich was perfect and oysters were plentiful. We took half the po boy home and I guarantee it'll be gone by lunch tomorrow. Wow! For this being a GrubHub order, it was super good! I never judge a restaurant just on their to go orders because I never think they live up to getting it straight from the kitchen. Nola had some awesome food, even after being delivered to us! I got the shrimp po boy, my husband got the catfish étouffée, our friend got the sampler, and we all shared some fries topped with étouffée. All of us were blown away! Had lunch at Voodoo today. First off, the food was excellent. Went with a co-worker who is a Louisiana native and she was impressed to find good creole food in Denver. Everything was well spiced and tasty. I had a bowl of red beans and rice and my lips are still tingling. My wife had the muffaletta sandwich with the homemade giardiniera. The peppers were actually a little too hot for her and the bread was slightly over toasted. But she enjoyed it, overall. My co-worker had the 3 bowl sampler (gumbo, red beans and rice and crawfish etoufee) and added the jambalaya. They also split a one pound crawfish boil. Again, everything was seasoned nicely and perfectly cooked. I so wanted to give five stars, but the place is a little cramped, unless you sit at the bar. Removing one table would help immensely, but I also understand maximizing the potential covers. I have nothing but great things to say about this establishment. I was visiting saw it on Yelp and then saw the menu. I was put off by the name. I'm thinking if I end up voodoo'd it no one else's fault, they warned me. LOL. When I got there, it was kinda cool with graffiti written on the walls in the alley perked up the artist in me. I started towards the door and got a little nervous. It looked smaller than originally thought and I'm thinking what if I get sick from eating here. I proceeded inside and thought NOLA's hole in the wall places are definitely step ups to a Chicago hole in the wall. I immediately went to the restroom to wash my hands. It was clean and fresh. I was sold right there. If they take time to ensure the bathroom is clean, I'm sure the kitchen is clean as well. The bar was small and full so I couldn't sit there. The bartender told me I could grab a seat anywhere so I did. I decided on the chicken wings with house sauce which was a sweet chili sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of sauce and as delicious as the waiter said they would be. I never would have ordered the a sweet chili sauce but glad I did. I also had the Cajun cheesy fries (made with real cheese, not a cheese sauce) The potatoes had a pleasantly unique cut and I loved every bit. I would have preferred a few more red beans but the portion size was great and a delight to the tastebuds. The six wings served with carrots coupled with the fries was just enough food to fill me up. My only regret is I was in such culinary bliss and full, I forgot to order the pecan pie to go. I wish the waiter had asked me about dessert. Overall, I liked the coziness ambiance of the restaurant with the added touch of NOLA decor, the food, the customer service. It was a complete experience which is what I look for when spending my money whether it's dinner, an event or a hotel stay. I felt like it was a great value for my money. They may have me fooled but you know how restaurants add a city name to draw you to a restaurant and you get there and realize it was a marketing ploy, somehow I believe that this restaurant has some NOLA roots or atleast recipes. The waitstaff was very pleasant and friendly. So glad I found it. Love this place. I highly recommend it and it will definitely be on of my go tos in Denver from now. read more

I went in for dinner after work and ordered the shrimp Po-Boy, best I've had out side of NOLA. I ordered 2 to go with a side of RB &R for the kids it was so amazing. The menu is thoughtfully designed to give the dinner multiple choices, by offering Tro flights of NOLA famous dishes. I'm so happy I found this place, having lived in NOLA for over 17 years I find it to be "the " go to place for NOLA feel come Saints season. Voodoo also happens to have amazing ambience, on point warm service,ample flat screen TVs NOLA famous cocktails, Abita beer And!! zapps chips. Let the good times roll. The setting was great definitely gives you the feel of NOLA however we anticipated to order from the full menu but they mentioned that the kitchen was closed and we could only order from the appetizers. Phenomenal! Quaint spot in denver and I'm so glad they are here! I ordered a Nola Explosion which was delicious as I love Disaronno Amaretto, spot on with rum and cranberry juice. The fried pickles were our appetizer and they were crispy and juicy at the same time with a tasty dipping sauce. We couldn't decide whether or not to order the gumbo, crawfish ettoufee, or red beans and rice. The waiter was super cool and brought us samples of each. Everything was so delicious and authentic, we decided on red beans and rice and ettoufee however. They all had the right amount of spice and seasoning, just perfect. Then we split a shrimp po boy which was fantastic as well. We already called our friends and told them about this place.
