we decided to do a girls bday wknd on the strip and found out there's a brand new speakeasy and of course we gotta give it a shot!!! we did book reservation for 1015, there was no line and no wait since it's a really new spot. they are located right around the front side of venetian restaurant row (across from yardbird and chica and kinda next to sugarcane). staffs are nice and friendly and services was really great! we got 2 rounds of specialty cocktails and mocktails, all super yummy; the bday ladies also got some bday tequila shots!!! the speakeasy feels very intimate and cozy and you definitely can spend some quality time with close friends and family. the only thing that's a bit unfortunate in my book is they do close the kitchen early at 10pm, which means you might not be able to get some yummy sashimi/sushi to snack on after couple rounds of drinks... we did come back the next day trying the actual sushi bar menu... it was quite a fun experience and the spicy tuna cut rolls turned out to be the girls favorite!!! overall, if you are looking for a new fun spot to try on the strip with yummy drinks and sushi, Nomikai is definitely worth a visit!!! read more

Cool space. Food is medicore -- sushi rice is not very good in the rolls. Service is excellent though. Very expensive. Also -- tip: Say no to the special fresh grated wasabi -- they charged $15/pp for a tiny blob of it (outrageous and they never mentioned it would cost more). Okay. The presentation was nice, at least. I've never been to a sushi place that didn't serve hot tea or ponzu sauce. Our server, who was Asian, looked a bit confused when I asked for ponzu; it seemed like she had never heard of it before. We ordered two premium rolls and a few other pieces, but our $3 sauce never arrived. When we told the server, it felt like she was double-checking to make sure we weren't trying to shortchange them out of $3 on a $167 bill! On the bright side, the chef was very nice and skilled, but the server's vibe felt a bit off--somewhat passive-aggressive. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this place or come back, especially with all the good dining options in Vegas; I would have preferred fast food instead, just to avoid feeling like my money was wasted. read more

Can't speak for the bar outside which seems to have a somewhat reasonable menu. Inside they don't present you with that menu. Instead you get a very odd menu. Missing anything you would expect to see. Only seeing the other menu after leaving, the inside menu was hard to make sense of. We got the tasting menu. For about $700 including tip, you get a selection of mediocre sushi (half of it on par with what you'd expect from AYCE). Tuna in particular was terrible. The sashimi was translucent. Tuna tataki 0/5. It's so dark in there it's hard to tell but I'm almost certain the negitoro was just regular tuna too. Insane. The toro nigiri on the other hand was the best thing we had. The sesame old fashioned was undrinkable. It sounded good and if executed well it probably could have been good. Unfortunately just tasted like you're drinking sesame oil with a drop of whiskey. To compliment your $700 bill for what should be at most $300, you're finished off with store bought frozen mochi felt like satire. Service was good. Ambiance is nice. Honestly if they just would give the menu from the bar outside to guests on the inside, we'd probably have had a much more enjoyable experience. Seems like the prices match up closer with the quality on the bar menu. All in all will be recommending people elsewhere. Fish quality was insulting for the price. read more

So many things went wrong. First, going through the hallway to the dining room was so smelly like rotten fish, it made me nauseous. The server came to our table and asked to take our order like it was a Denny's. The sushi fish was fresh but the way it was prepared and seasoned killed the taste. Went to the restroom and sewage started to come out of the floor. It was so disgusting but it made sense why the restaurant smelled. Excellent sushi and great service. I've eaten a decent amount of sushi in my time and found that their spicy tuna roll was the best I've had. Ate at the other on property Japanese restaurant a few nights ago which was good, but Nomikai was great. Also enjoyed the nigiri yellow tail and tuna, and the crab roll.
