Hubs and I have driven by this place several times and often thought of stopping in and finally decided to pull the trigger with my father in law in town this past weekend. He was born in Louisiana and thought he might appreciate a little cajun flava. We went around 6:30 on Saturday night and it was doing a little biz but no wait or anything. Everything was very tasty. Not diet food or anything (read: gut bomb), but that's what makes it so good! I had the cajun pasta which was shrimp, chicken, sausage in a creamy cajun sauce over linguine. I think the shrimp were from a can because they were super tiny- that would be my only complaint. Otherwise the sauce was awesome and there was certainly plenty of food. Hubs had the crawfish Monica which was in another great creamy cajun sauce over rotini pasta. I'm not sure which one I preferred- though I do love me some andouille sausage! Finally, my FIL had the red beans & rice which came complete with a big ham hock right in the middle. Everything was really good. We all agreed each dish could have been spicier so we took full advantage of the Louisiana hot sauce that is on every table. But we all like spicy things so it could have been perfect for someone else. Service overall was very friendly though they did not come by and refill our water...and after all the hot sauce dousing, we could have used more water! I'd definitely like to return for brunch so I'm sure we will do that at some point. I want to see how their bloody mary's compare to Lucile's. I definitely recommend this place to anyone craving a taste of the bayou! read more

I was excited to venture to NoNo's cafe as I'm such a lover of New Orleans! I have to admit that I was disappointed. I can't even put my finger on it, but there was just something missing from the kitschy decor. The place sort of felt like a frumpy Chili's. Sigh... maybe I would have loved it more if I went with more "NOLA-like" food, but I went with a potato scramble that was good, but not great. Everything quickly got soggy from the green chili, which I would opt against next time. My friend got their keto-friendly no carbs breakfast which was literally just bacon, sausage, and eggs. The bacon was SO salty! Service was super nice, the menu large and varied, and the big dining room would probably mean that the wait times are shorter during busy times. Overall this place was fine, but not a joint I'd find myself craving. read more

I know everyone says it but I never write reviews.. I just felt it necessary to talk about my experience at NoNo's because it was awesome. A very nice woman greeted us and we got sat immediately. She explained the menu to us in detail before our server came up to us-- we later found out she was the owner. Our service was wonderful- our server was very attentive, friendly and helpful. The owner came back up to us and talked to us about where we were from, her background, etc. I've never been to a restaurant where the owner is on the floor engaging with the customers without trying to sell us something. We had already ordered by this point but she was so excited it was our first time that she brought us a plate of different samples-- beef stroganoff, crawfish Monica and red beans and rice. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. Beef stroganoff was probably the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. I had already ordered the crawfish Monica and my boyfriend got the shrimp poboy. Both were out of this world. We both agreed that this was the best restaurant we've eaten at since we moved to Colorado over a year ago. Strongly recommend everyone to try it. read more

Went out on a limb today, wanting to try a new restaurant for some southern creole food. Since it being COVID, I decided to grab some gumbo to go. Upon arriving, the place had a very southern feel to it. With that being said, I was really excited about my choice in deciding to go here. Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving, the gumbo I ordered was very bland had no type of southern taste that I was looking for. I should've just drove over to Pappadeaux's to fully fulfill my inner taste buds. As I was indulging into my bowl of soup, that was accompanied by a very small bowl of rice, I noticed, what I thought was an onion in my gumbo, but after fully looking more closely, I found out that it was a piece of plastic. A very decent size piece of plastic so I called the restaurant to let them know about the plastic that I have found in my gumbo. I was told " There was no way of them knowing what it actually was or how big the piece of plastic could've been" so there resolution to the Situation was to offer me another bowl of soup which is very understandable. I came back a year later and ordered the same crab meat au gratin dish. It has increased $1 since last year. I first ate the salad with Italian dressing and croutons. It was delicious! The server brought out my crab meat au gratin dish served with bread on the same plate. She also brought with my main meal, a small plate with sauce and told me it was for the bread. The bread dipped in the red (chalula ish) sauce was absolutely amazing. I actually enjoyed it more than my crab meat dish. I'm not even sure I liked that dish all that much anymore. I enjoyed the salad and bread with sauce more! What killed my experience was the check. There was a charge of $1.25 for the bread and $0.50 for the sauce. WTF?! She brought it with my meal- the bread was on the same plate! I think it was wrong to deliver it to me as if it came complimentary with my dish and then charge me for it! Very UNCOOL! read more

We had a reservation for six on Fat Tuesday. Masks, social distancing, etc were in place. Jambalaya was the obvious special of the night and was selected by three of us. It was fantastic! A good size portion, finished by one and a to go box for two others. Loaded with taste, supported by a tasty roux, and lots of shrimp. I have been a customer of Nono's Cafe since they first opened and have been hooked ever since. Before moving to Highlands Ranch, we lived in the New Orleans area for several years and know good Cajun cooking when we find it:) I have a difficult time deciding what to order when I look at the Nono's menu because I have ordered practically everything on it ... and have never been disappointed. I not only love eating there because of the quality of the food, but because of the outstanding customer service. This hidden New Orleans style gem is wonderful. As soon as you step inside you can smell the Cajun cooking. We came for breakfast and it was the best I have eaten in a long time. My husband enjoyed his burrito with gravy and hot sausage. My meal was the no carb plate... great for weight watchers!!! They have a full bar, too early for us, but the Bloody Mary looked awesome. The breakfast food here warranted a 4-star rating. The Hash brown pie was everything you could ask for if you're looking for a greasy plate after a night of too much drinking. It had a generous portion of bacon chunks, which is nice to see because usually skillet-type breakfasts have very little bacon in them. The bacon was thick and crispy. The reason I didn't give NoNo's 4 stars, though was the service. I joined my friends a few minutes late and they had already gotten their drinks, but had not ordered. I had to flag the waitress down to ask for water after we had ordered our food. They were also slow refilling my coffee and water. Overall, though, I was impressed by the quality of food at NoNo's. A few other friends got various sandwich's from there for lunch, and I heard nothing but positive reviews about the sandwiches as well. read more

The biscuits and gravy is my favorite thing there, the gravy is creamy and you actually get enough to cover your biscuits and then some, no skimping here! The breakfast burrito has an option of half green chili, half sausage gravy, a win-win if you can't decide. and the beignets. We share a couple between the family when we come here, our kids love them, as do we. You need to try one of these when you go. Light, delicious puffs of pastry with powder sugar. Holy Beignets, Batman! I love Creole Cook'n, and this place certainly fits the bill. We've been for Breakfast, and how can you complain about Beignets and Coffee au Lait with Chicory? Noms. The owner is the real-deal, and stopped by our table to chat and make sure we were welcomed on our first visit. So that was nice. I'd guess he's from the Backcountry (Or at least somewhere in the South.) The food certainly tastes of authenticity. Grits and Eggs and Sausages and Thick Bacon and Red Beans and Rice. Despite the fact our expectations were not very high as we pulled into their parking lot, we soon discovered we were in for a treat. If I had the ability to choose the last meal I will ever eat, I would order the same thing I ordered the first time I ate at Nono's Cafe -their blackened rib-eye. We both ordered the blackened rib-eye, which came with their mac-and-cheese and sliced tomatoes. The rib-eye was the best I have ever eaten. Their mac-and-cheese is difficult to describe, but this is no kids version (forget the boxed soupy stuff). This is severed like lasagna, it is dense and it holds it shape when served. We tried to make it at home, and $15 latter (think lots of cheese), we were not even close. The sliced tomatoes were served with a bit of oil and seasoning - a well balanced combination. The staff was pleasant, and even though they were closing soon, we never felt rushed. I used to pass by Nono's Café when I worked in Highlands Ranch and had no idea it was a Cajun New Orleans homecookin' restaurant. I came here for lunch roughly around 130pm on a Saturday. My server was very patient with me since this was my first time here. They have an array of dishes but I was craving catfish and grits. Unfortunately they didn't have anymore grits since breakfast ended at 2pm however I saw a sign on their property that you can get breakfast all day. Hmm... I started with a cup of Chicken and Sausage Gumbo ($6) It was flavorful with chunks of chicken and sausage however the rice were undercooked. I order the lunch portion of the Blackened Catfish which comes with a filet of catfish, a couple of sliced tomatoes vinaigrette and I got a side of their "famous" Mayme's Macaroni & Cheese ($12). The catfish was seasoned way too much. It was so salty and spicy I can barely eat more than a bite or two. The macaroni and cheese looks like it is cooked in a casserole dish and reheated. It was not creamy at all. It looked plastic and fake. Something you see in a store front window to advertise what is being sold there. It was greasy and disgusting. I just left it. I didn't take any of my leftovers home. The best thing about this place was the large glass of Coke for ($2) that I drank which was so refreshing. Pretty bummed about my visit here. I saw so many great reviews about their food..and many positive reviews for the mac and cheese.. but honestly I cannot believe they are proud of the square block of greasy mess they call mac & cheese. read more

Great food. While our server was fine, the rest of the staff was just sort of hanging out, gossiping, not super professional. The place was pretty dead, so it happens I guess. Not a super authentic feeling place, which would be nice for a Cajun restaurant. No danger of feeling like you've been whisked away to the French Quarter, or even out of the suburbs. But the food... That's what you come for. And it is strong. No restaurant is perfect, and the closer they are, the more expensive they are. I'd much rather compromise ambiance and keep the great food. All the food that we have had here has been excellent. Just tried the stroganoff for the first time and will be ordering that again. It had a nice rich sauce that tasted as if it had been finished with a little wine. Somewhat pricey for lunch, but worth it since the quality of food is so good.
