The bento boxes are good too, but if it's your first time here, get the hot pot. I usually get the lamb because it's the best in my opinion. They bring out the soup on the butane burners like you would have at home if you were doing it family style (some of the other places here give you a useless Sterno cup under your pot)... But not here! Now you're cooking with gas! Then comes the plate with all your raw meats and veggies. You can put them into the broth however you feel comfortable. I personally like to just swish the meat through to keep it rare/medium rare. Then when you are all done. You get to drink the delicious broth from all the cooking! If you're looking for extremely authentic, mom and pop style Chinese food, the Noodle Exchange is probably not your best bet. However, with that being said, if you're looking for decent tasting, well priced, semi- Americanized Chinese food, than this place should be OK. It's located inside the Gold Coast, immediately to your left if you are going through the main entrance (across from Ping Pang Pong). We visited on a Monday afternoon and were quickly seated and taken care of. Service from staff was very good, and our food was also delivered quickly. Their menu consists of many selections, but we ordered from the Lunch Specials. Our order consisted of: 1. Crispy Fish- very lightly fried fish with sauce on the side. This was actually the best tasting dish and it was quite good. Not too greasy. 2. Sweet and Sour Chicken- fried chicken pieces with sauce on top. It was very sweet, but overall not bad. Have come here a few times in the past mostly for the cheap hot pot, which happens to be the main selling point of this restaurant. This place has never been an authentic place for Chinese cuisine by any means, but living in Vegas, sometimes you gotta settle! They offer Beef, Lamb, and Seafood hotpot plates, and the Beef and Lamb orders are 17.99 while the Seafood plates run at 19.99. This is a bit of a price raise from the year before, and I feel that nowadays the plates also serve a lot less meat. What you do get is usually fatty meat, or if you're ordering seafood, a lot of vegetables. I like vegetables, don't get me wrong, but I didn't really order a vegetable plate. One thing that hasn't changed is that the hotpot servings are really meant for one person. If you're sharing with someone, one order alone is not going to fill you up at all. That alone is a bit of a downer since the main point of hot pot and bbq places is that it's a very social meal! So if you want to do hot pot on a budget, I wouldn't necessarily call this place cheap if you're looking to eat a lot. I think the worst part about this place has to be the service, though. Having eaten at a lot of places with terrible service for the good food, this place's mediocre food isn't worth sitting out the bad treatment at all. The plates are mediocre and the hot pot more so, and while the buspeople and servers are very kind and attentive, the hosts and waitresses are terrible and it feels like they go out of your way to ignore you even when you're in their line of sight needing something. This place gets packed at night time. Came here two nights in a row though. Pretty good hot pots; beef, lamb, or seafood. Either regular or spicy. We ordered two hot pots... one lamb spicy and one beef regular. They were a bit frugal with the meat quantity but it was fine. Broth was really good with rice. We also got boba milk teas, and coconuts! On a previous night we ordered stir dried noodles which were delicious but super greasy that it made me feel ill afterwards. This was a convenient stop. The casino either had TGIFridays, Ping Pang Pong, a coffee spot, or this noodle house. A good amount of tables in a small space so can get a little claustrophobic... especially when you're running elbows with strangers trying to cook in the hot pot. I loved Ping Pang Pong and I guess I thought that since they were in the same hotel they would be just as great as Noodle Exchange. Definitely not ! Granted everyone raves about this place. I didn't get it until after we recieved our food and that's because I had to ask for it again. Hot pot igniter and pot came out quick. I mean why not ?! All your going to do is add raw fish to the pot. It should be quick. The problem with the hot pot is this. They offer bento boxes, lunch specials, hot pot, and regular family style rice dishes. Overall, the food is good, but it didn't stand out in any way that would get me to come back. The hot pot dishes are perfect for individuals. For a set price you get a pre-set dish of raw veggies and meats. The hot pot comes out on a portable gas stove and most people eat an order by themselves. If you eat on the lighter side, you can share this dish as well. I recommend the spicy soup base. It is spicy, but very tasty. I personally like to order a extra side order of egg noodle and wontons with my hot pot. Their bento boxes are really great for people who want their own personal meal. Bentos boxes come with rice or fried rice, an egg roll with sweet n sour sauce, a bowl of egg drop soup, cucumbers, a fortune cookie, and an entree of your choice. Bento boxes average around $15 each. Their appetizers and pretty good if you're wanting a taste of other dishes. The chicken wings are chicken wings. They are good, but nothing too special. The Peking Duck Tasters are good, but not worth the $10 because it only comes with 3 pieces of duck and buns. The service was the absolute worst here, but it's not something uncommon for a traditional Chinese restaurant. My party sat waiting for the waiters to come over and take our drink order and food order for 30 minutes before we realized that you have to get the waiter's attention to order or they had no intention of coming to stop by our table. I literally asked for utensils five times and they would keep saying "okay," but then never bringing me any. In addition, condiments like the sauces that came with the hot pot or the soup that came with the bento boxes had to be asked for instead of it automatically coming out with the dish. Before coming to this restaurant, pretend you have traveled to China. Then the change in attitude, language and level of friendliness will be expected and not seen as rude. I have always said, if you see ethnic people eating in an ethnic restaurant you can't go wrong and we didn't. We did not order the hot pot, which seems to be THE item to get here, so I think some of our slower service was due to this. We ordered dumplings, and the peking duck sampler as our starters. Both were very good. There were generous portions of duck for just 3 pieces. If you have never had Peking duck (Hong Kong style) and want to try it, this is an inexpensive way to get a taste. We loved both of our starters, they however did not come out in order. For our main courses, we ordered a Bento box with shrimp in lobster sauce and combo noodles, with crispy noodles. The kitchen seemed equally as lacking. The dish I ordered was a lobster noodle dish in a cream sauce. The sauce--watery. The vegetables--weren't chopped properly (full cilantro stems?) and the mushrooms were barely cooked (you could taste that they were just rinsed and tossed into the pan at the end before serving). Friendly, beautiful staff, and awesome food! The Minced Beef and Fried Egg is excellent (super huge portion, and I usually finish my plates clean!). And you have to try the Beef Medallion! The Chrysanthemum Tea is a nice, sweet balance to your meal. The only downside is the pricing, which can be expected since it's located inside a casino. It's the place to get a bowl of porridge after a long flight, you are feeling a little queasy and want your comfort food. It's not your "fancy" restaurant but more like your local corner restaurant where the service can be hit or miss but the food has never disappointed. Come here for your bowl of noodles, congee, BBQ and rice dish. The hotpot meals in the evening is a recent addition (I also understand it went away but then came back again) - and it is a good value with a broth base (too many hotpot places give you hot water instead of a broth). For anyone who has never had a Chinese hotpot - you put in the vegetables to cook and give the broth flavor, then add your meats, taking them out and dipping them in sauces to eat them, then after all the food is gone, you drink the wonderfully flavorful soup. Noodle Exchange has the usual beef / chicken / seafood hotpots and the bases are regular, spicy and herbal. If you have several people eating the hotpot, you can ask for two broths - they bring out a divided bowl. But do give the herbal broth a try. Let it boil a few minutes for the herbs and spices to release their fragrance before you start cooking your meats. I will have to make special mention of the sauces. The Hoisin sauce for the Peking duck, the Sate sauce for hotpots - they are exceptionally good. Once again, a good solid choice for authentic Chinese food. Not fancy, just good. P.S. The pork belly was fattier than I was expecting, and I already know pork belly is fat, but this pork must have not had any muscle. The fried rice was greasy.
