I happened to stumble across this place while visiting some friends at CSUF, and I am so happy to have found this restaurant. Upon walking in, we all looked at each other and said, "omg! that smell is amazing." And the food definitely lived up to the smell. I ordered the signature beef noodle soup with triangle noodles. I love my noodles on the chewier side, and it's great they allow you to choose the type of noodle you want for each dish. The beef soup broth was so flavorful and yummy! The little dollop of added chili oil was perfect, and added a nice kick to the broth. The beef pieces were cooked perfectly. The service was great, as well! All the servers work together to check on each table, so there is always someone if you ever need something. I got the spicy beef noodle soup and chose flat noodles. The soup was very flavorful. There isn't a lot of meat. The thing about getting it to go is that the soup isn't hot. This dish needs to be consumed hot, not just warm. If you are going to order anything with spicy in it, wear a napkin bib. My wife and I were under a great deal of stress and a warm bowl of soup seemed like just the thing. I had the Beef Noodle Soup (Sliced beef shank seasoned with Chinese herbs and served with fresh spinach, green onions, sliced tomato, and cilantro in a traditional light beef broth) which was divine. Went here on a Saturday evening. It was crowded but worth the wait. We tried the pork dumplings; cucumber salad and beef stir fry noodles. Everything tasted amazing. I was very impressed by the staff. Their customer service was excellent. All of the servers were friendly despite it being very busy. In my personal opinion, take it with a grain of salt, this place is better than the what's up ramen across the street on some aspects. More parking slots, prices and brings me home. The waiters are friendly and very accommodating plus the food comes out fresh and hot ( but not too hot). I like the Beef Roll Pancake, Signature Beef Noodle soup and if I'm feeling fancy I'll get some scallion pancakes. I wish the beef rolls came in smaller pieces of 5 instead of 4 big pieces. Seemed like they were simply stuffed with green onions and cilantro. Overall I really enjoyed the quality of the knife cut noodle itself, I but it didn't seem like the decorative ingredients were prepared well. The stir-fry didn't have much wok-hei. Once you go inside and see the window displaying the chefs knife cutting the noodles and prepping meals, I knew we had been to the Monrovia location. I remember they also use the giant wood slabs for tables. It basically gets 3 stars for the taste of the food and loses 2 stars due to their poor service and non-urgent nature of their employees. Here are the reasons I deducted the 2 stars: * I totally understand that employees need breaks. At this establishment, their employees take those breaks in the main dining room in front of everyone. Plus, they are allowed to drink on the job as a couple of them were having beer. I think this is tacky. * Our main dishes came out before our appetizer. I get that timing doesn't always work out, but the waitress didn't say anything. When we asked about it, she looked annoyed and said it was coming later. * They don't take American Express. I tried to pay with one and the waiter walked past and said "we don't take that". He didn't even stop or wait for me to change cards. * No one ever checked in on us to ask how we were doing. If anything, Noodle St is CONSISTENT - I love their thick knife cut noodles and it's my go-to place for beef roll and cucumber salad! Not too many macro friendly options but it's worth a cheat day! Positives 1. Taste - Everything I've tried on their menu is on point. A. Their noodles (Both stir fried and soup noodles) are satisfyingly chewy and the sauces and soups are full of flavor and salted perfectly. I always get the thickest cut but that's because my favorite thing in the world is Korean sujaebi (Ripped dough soup) and it's the CHEW that gets me good. B. Beef roll - crispy with a good amount of beef (I saw some reviews on the rolls having too much green onion and cilantro but you can definitely ask for less - I prefer the herbs but it's just personal preference) C. Cucumber salad - so crisp and refreshing! Noodle Street honestly does this cucumber salad the best out of all the places that do the black vinegar and cilantro smashed cucumber salad. 2. Service - Service is always quick and the team here is super attentive. 3. Price - You get a lot of food and it's definitely shareable. Negatives 1. Came in for a late dinner around 8:30-9Pm. The noodle chefs were still hand pulling them so I knew they were fresh. Our server was awesome. It was our first time here so she explained the different cuts of noodles. We started off with the crispy tofu and beef roll. Both were delicious but I had expected the crispy tofu to be more crispy like at sit down Chinese restaurants. The waiter says it's the hoisin. The menu has a wide variety of dishes. We tried the stir fried noodles with shrimp, the beef roll and the lamb skewer. The beef roll was crammed with soft sliced beef. The onion pancake was slightly sweet giving it a crispy outside. The lamb skewers were thin pieces (not ground) with a spicy rub on the outside. Everything was so good that we can't wait to come back and try three different dishes. The prices are decent too. I've paid more for inferior food but I've also paid less for similar quality. Ever mad at yourself when you go to lunch and your not really hungry? That's me today this place is amazing and I'm not really hungry, don't worry I took one for the team. Started off with cucumber salad with garlic and cilantro dressing. It was great large chucks of cucumber dressed with this surprise combination of fresh garlic and cilantro, delicious.
