One spicy and two not spicy - we mixed them into each other to get the flavor of the spicy noodle (which was the best flavor) but also curb how spicy it was. The non spicy noodles had less flavor and may taste bland on its own. The mung bean drink also helped with relieving some of the spice. They had a bogo deal going on when we went. I was excited at the prospect of visiting a Chinese restaurant that specializes in noodles, but I didn't love my experience. First of all, the service is whack. I know that Chinese restaurants aren't known for their service, but these people were RUDE! The dishware and chopsticks that they dropped off at our table was still wet, and the table was given a perfunctory wipe with a dirty dish rag. Let's just say it was a bit sticky. I asked for water, but it was never refilled even though I finished it halfway through my meal and kept trying to wave a server down. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup and didn't love it. The beef was mostly tendon and not very flavorful. The rice noodles were super soggy and fell apart easily, which made me thing that they were pre-made and left to soak in water before assembly. I also tried a stir-fried veggie and egg dish where my friend said it wasn't fresh, though I couldn't taste it because it was spicy. I might give this place another chance since my friends think it really authentic, but I do hope that they work on their customer service some. read more

This place offers unique Chinese noodle with a traditional taste. Most of the dishes are spicy and I only found two non-spicy ones for my girlfriend. We ordered a takeaway using the a self help touch screen. For weekday dinner hours, the waiting time is around 15 minutes, which is reasonable for us. My wife and I came here for our lunch on Saturday. There was a bit of a line, but we didn't have to wait long at all. It seems that they turn tables quickly and if you put your name on the list, they only seat your party if your entire party is present. My wife ordered the braised pork rib noodle soup and I had the beef stew noodle soup. For dessert, we ordered Hunan rice cakes where it has a similar taste and texture to dango. You have the option of two sizes for your soup and we decided to both go large. The portions are good and they give you plenty of meat. The noodles texture was nice and chewy which was complemented by the rich flavorful beef broth. The meat was tender and soft which overall made it a very wholesome meal. Service is somewhat hit or miss around here as there were some moments where they took too long, but besides that our experience was still enjoyable. Parking can be a bit hectic as this plaza does get crowded being in between several restaurants. For me, soup noodles and ramen are comfort food. And Noodle Talk satisfies on many levels. The food is really good and flavorful. The portions are generous. and they have a good selection of wet and dry noodle dishes. This place is popular and sometimes the wait is long. For parties of 1 or 2, opt for the counter and you'll get seated quicker. Just okay. The flavors are pretty authentic and taste good, but quality of ingredients isn't the greatest. The noodles are too soft and taste like over-boiled spaghetti in my opinion. Don't come here if you're in the mood for fresh, chewy noodles. Rice dishes are slightly better but the rice isn't the greatest either (clumpy, not cooked well). Very few vegetarian options here, but the pepper and egg dry noodles was great-shishito peppers stir fried with egg on top of rice noodles, and not too spicy. The mung bean soup-drink (lv dou tang) that comes with a yelp check in is also really good--not too sweet, and incredibly refreshing with the somewhat greasy noodles. Only strange thing here---- When I did my yelp check in the owner was like one free cold dish if you write me a good review, and I was like um well I haven't eaten yet, and then she was like think about it!!!! Lmao!!!! Wut!!!!! I guess reviews here are a little low but seriously lady you gotta be confident of the food you're serving, hahahahahaha! First time trying out their noodles and probably my last time. I ordered the Beef noodle bowl (with wide noodles) for $9.xx. The portion size was decent since they give you plenty of noodles for even a small. The noodles themselves feel similar to pho rice noodles but a little wider with a mushier texture that's really off-putting. The soup was also on the spicy side (even tho I ordered it non-spicy) and oily as heck - I found myself wiping my lips with napkins after every slurp. Another disappointment was the beef - tough and chewy, so thank God they gave me very little. Service was ehh; they got really busy even for a weekday dinner so it wasn't as attentive as we would have liked. It also took forever for them to bring our drinks and bill. Noodle Talk is located off El Camino Real adjacent to Beck's Shoes and nearby Big 5. The exterior is unassuming but it's comfortable and more spacious inside then expected. There are numerous tables and a counter area for one or two tops. Service was efficient and quick. The menu has a variety of noodle soups, some Chef special side dishes and a variety of smaller side items. My selection: Spicy Beef Shank Noodles - $10.99. Two sizes are offered and I chose the regular. It arrives quickly. The soup broth actually packs some heat and envelopes the well cooked noodles, several pieces of beef shank, and a few pieces of fried tofu. The noodles were actually a bit overcooked as were the beef shank. Overall, I found everything underwhelming. When all you enjoy is the broth, it's a start but not enough. Tendon with Garlic and Chili - $7.99. I like tendon but I find the preparation at many places to be lacking. The version here is chewy, cold, and one noted in flavor. Sour And Spicy Pork Noodles - $8.99. I saw a few tables ordering this and thought perhaps people knew something I didn't. Same thing as before. Slightly overcooked noodles. Sour, slightly spicy pork. Again, didn't really enjoy this noodle either as the flavor profile just didn't work for me. Overall, Noodle Talk wasn't my type of noodle place. Although they serve a couple of varieties of noodle soups, I found the noodles overcooked, the beef a bit tough and the sour and spicy pork not my flavor. 10/17/16 (2nd update): So just had an "interesting" experience here. I ordered the EPIC "Rice stirred with Lard + Smoked Pork $3.99" again, which I gave 10/10 last time. It really was some of the best clay pot rice dishes I've ever had. Well, what they gave us was NOTHING like it. Just some long grain white rice with melted fat dumped on it, some soy suace, and the meat. Like wtf. I even called the manager over and asked why it's so different from before. I even showed him my original picture of what they served us. He said he asked the cooks and they said they have never served anything different... .... further confirms my suspicions: When they found out I was taking pictures for Yelp, they must have given us many special variations not found on the menu, hence the overly spectacular food. Anyway....... just fyi 11/29/15 (update): Seems we were extremely hasty with the last review. Just came back from dinner and wow, what a polar difference from last time! The food was horrible and strangely enough some random guys were singing karaoke style over the PA... The ribs were pretty underdone. I mean, not raw or anything, but just were very hard. Flavor was super standard. Edible, but for that amount of money for so little food, pretty bad. 3/10. And.......... service was again HORRIBLE. First off, we asked for water, which never came. Then when I bugged them again, after 10min of eating, I guess the dude realized we weren't given the standard table appetizers they give (pickles and peanuts). So he brought those. I saw the ads for this place on Wechat several times and finally gave it a try on a Wednesday night. The noodle soup comes fast. The soup base tastes good and I like their sour beans. However, I'm very disappointment about the portion. There are barely any meat in the noodle soup. We got like 10 pieces of chick gizzard and 5 small pieces of beef. For noodle soup for $9.99-10.99, we expect more than this. 2 items we ordered are not available that night- sweet rice cake and the spinach salad. We got something else instead. The celery salad tastes pretty weird. The sesame sticky rice looks like joke... Even my cat can make something look better than this... The service of this place is not good. After I returned the offal, another waiter rushes out of the kitchen wihin two minutes with a bowl of noodle soup in bland chicken broth, with leftover pieces of lamb and almost no toppings. Which is a stark comparison to the correct lamb roll order that my partner had, and a huge middle finger to the customer to remedy the mistake of a waiter. This is a brand new spot that took over an old sushi restaurant. They serve Hunan style noodle dishes. When I walked in, I discovered from the owner that they were not quite open for business yet, but the owner was very accommodating and accepted me as a customer anyway, but she said they can only serve one dish that day. Of course I was game for whatever it was. The dish was a cold veggie noodle dish, which was very good. The slender rice noodles were handmade and pretty hard to beat the texture. They had that great balance between firmness and chewiness that let them snap when bitten but gave you enough chew to really enjoy the flavor of the noodle and the cold broth. The vegetable-based broth had a nice light flavor with a medium hit of heat. There were peanuts, bean sprouts, cabbage, carrots, green onion, and cilantro that helped bring it more color, textures, and bright flavors. This was a pure vegetarian dish and was surprised I liked it being as such. I was also offered an appetizer of spicy red cabbage. This had a higher level of heat, which also lingered due to the chili oil, but the strong garlic flavor got me to keep on picking at it until it was gone by the end of my meal. I was thankfully able to give my palate a rest between bites with a passion fruit soda. It was not overly sweet, the passionfruit with a bit of lemon in it was not overpowering. Very upset about this one thought this would strike gold with my family, but the only thing they had were the appetizer peanuts. First time here we thought to try three different noodles, A1 beef stew, A3 ground pork with spicy beans, and A6 pork rib noodle. They came out pretty quick which was great, but few things weren't right. I ordered A3 with ground pork, but didn't seem to have much of the ground pork more of the spicy/sour beans which over powered the soup. My sister had A1 their most popular dish she enjoyed the noodles, but not the tough beef pieces. Mom tried A6 the pork rib noodle she thought the noodles were over cooked , but the fried egg was a great addition to the soup. Each of the noodles were around $9 for a small, not worth it in out opinion :( We also ordered green onion pancake that came out cold and very oily. We arrived a little before closing and when we walked in, we cleared stated if its still open or not and they replied "Yes we are still open", and when we sat down, they started to rush us several times and limited the menu to only the noodles. If you know that the kitchen is closing soon, why not just tell us that we are not taking any new customers, but instead they rushed up and we were forced to eat in a hurry. I used to go to another rice noodle place but was trying to look for something new. This place totally blowed my mind. I went on July 4th around 1:30pm. Made a phone call to make sure they are open. there were a bunch of people waiting outside, but it only took 10 minutes for a table for 2 people. I guess bigger party might need to wait for longer. I ordered minced pork noodle and my husband ordered wild pepper with beef, which is their popular dish. After my noodle is served, a waitress came over and told us the wild pepper with beef is out, and asked us what dish we would like to replace. My husband ordered pickled cabbage noodle soup, and it only took 1 minute to bring the noodle over. Their appetizer is pretty refreshing too. Highly recommended! read more

We ordered A3, spicy ground pork with sour beans noodle soup, and B2, braised pork with brown sauce and with rice. A3, spicy ground pork with sour beans noodle soup, is good. It's not too spicy, and the size is good. B2, braised pork with brown sauce and with rice, is greasy. I know braised pork is supposed to be greasy but theirs is even greasier than what I normally get. The drinks are expensive. A can of soda costs you $2.50. I feel they intentionally make the food very spicy and greasy so people order drinks. They make more profits from the drinks. There are three things that really annoyed me in this restaurant: 1. The seats are much lower than the tables! I almost never had a problem with the height of the seats, but their seats are so low that I can even notice! I'm 5'5'', and I wonder how uncomfortable it is for the people shorter than me. 2. The tables are so close to each other! Com'on. We're in Sunnyvale, not NYC. They fit 4 tables in a row. When the thin servers needed to pass, the customers had to move their chairs closer to the tables to allow them to pass. 3. The music is unbearable. I understand the restaurant wants to create a lively atmosphere. However, the hip pop music with strong beats is disturbing. This is not a BBQ or hot pot place where often the music just play in the background. This place's music dominates the conversation. I don't know if I'm supposed to listen to the music, eat, or chat.
