We have been coming to this place for over twenty years and our last visit was not a pleasant one. Usually food comes out quick and served together for the whole table. I ordered my favorite mint leaf chicken dish and it came out quickly. My wife ordered the charbroiled pork chop and it didn't come to our table until after I asked about her order ten minutes later. The server cane back with the food, but no apology. Normally I would overlook this considering how busy they normally are, but on this night the restaurant was half full. It also took me asking two different servers to refill our water, ten minutes later our water was refilled. They literally have almost every type of noodle dish you can think of - pad Thai, pho, chow mein, etc. There's something for everyone! This location in particular is always very busy and packed on the weekends and late at night. Because they stay open until about 1am, you'll be pleased to know that they'll have some yummy noodles to help you sober up after a long night of partying fun. The only thing preventing me from giving this place 5 stars is their extremely poor service. They are so unfriendly and you have to hunt someone down just to get a seat, place an order, or ask for a glass of water. They act like you're a bother. Wth... I'm Thai and I have really high expectations when it comes to Thai dishes. When you don't know what to eat ... there is always Noodle World with their vast choices of Thai, Viet, Chinese food. They offer the most popular dishes such as pad thai, pho, and many other noodle dishes. They also open late so definitely a plus for the late night hunger. Spicy spaghetti: comes with your choice of meat (pork, beef, chicken) and it has a basil flavor. Not spicy but the taste is just addicting. Cube steak w/ rice: the steak is pretty tasty but not the best I had. It's good if you are craving it late at night and other restaurants are closed. Hainan chicken: meh. the chicken was dry and bland. Stay away from this dish. Combo Pho: hits the spot when you're craving it but not the best place to get this dish. This place is like a Thai noodle house, but it has a large menu with different options. It has soups, noodle and rice dishes. As much as I want to take away a star from this place, I can't, because IT'S WORTH IT! The prices are a bit high but they're damn good. The seating and environment of this new revamped location is just better than before so that makes it even more appealing. The employees are 9/10 always helpful and kind. They package your food for you and constantly refill your cup of ice water. I know some Yelpers here are calling this place a 'fake' & 'half ass' Asian food restaurant but they sure do a damn good job of faking it, lol! It's been a while since I last came here. When I worked swing shift, this was an every paycheck go to spot after work. We'd always order the Chicken Tom Kha, the pork pad see ew and simple basic fried rice. I am happy to discover that Noodle World continues to deliver tasty dishes that tantalize the taste buds and makes you want to order another plate even though the belly says there's no more room! One of the bonuses of coming back here is finding out that FINALLY, after so many years of being CASH ONLY, they know accept cards! That in itself is worthy of 4 or 5 stars. Service started off a little shaky but it quickly rebounded. We were a party of 9 including one baby and were sat fairly quickly, but it was a good 10-15 minutes before we saw a server to take our order and bring us out glasses of water. But at least once that happened, the lady made sure to keep coming by. Now I'm not a noodle or soup expert, so I don't know if this is some type of fusion or not, but Noodle World is the only place I know of that puts noodles in their Tom Kha. If someone could please tell me if that is common or something they do it would be greatly appreciated because at all the Thai places I've been too, it's never come with noodles. It was delicious by the way, but I think it was missing lemongrass or bamboo, because I was expecting more tang. As far as my flat noodles and rice went, the kids LOVED the rice, but my daughter didn't like the pad see ew. She didn't say why, but it was perfectly fine with me. How is this not an automatic 5-star? They have a ba-jillion things on their menu and each one is so good! Thai BBQ Chicken ($8.25) The price is right! I've been dining with them since 1994. My favorite dishes are: 1) Noodle World Thai fried rice (my choice of meat - chicken). I usually ask them to leave out onions, tomato, and two slices of cucumber that come with it. With this dish, I enjoy eating with crushed chili in oil and or that tangy mix sauce (I don't know what it is called). When doing take-out, be sure to ask for those sauces. Lately, I've noticed they would give them to you upon request only. 2) Of course, the well known Spicy Spaghetti (my choice of meat is beef). WARNING! It is packed with very strong flavor (in a good way). If you eat this first and try other dishes, the rest would become tasteless. I have had that experience several time now, so be careful. 3) Pork Chop (with rice or salad) is another favorite entrée of mine. I order mine with rice, although salad is still great. 4) Lastly, Noodle World Tom Yum (my choice of meat is seafood). It is a big bowl of noodle soup. I like it with plenty of lemon juice. Service: Even though it is not the best, it is still better than most restaurants in the area. They do have a habit of forgetting your orders, so be warned. This is a CASH ONLY restaurant. I ordered their pho because I was craving something simple and soupy on a late Sunday night since all other pho places were closed. My bowl came and I was pleased to see the amount of meat and noodles in it. However, I saw a bunch of chili flakes in there, which was odd (so rather than question it, I just rolled with it). I then took my first bite and was shocked to see that this wasn't your typical pho broth. Instead of plain beef broth that's normally used in pho, they used some sort of Thai-inspired sour soup with a thicker consistency - this was totally off-putting and can never reasonably be called pho without getting criticized for it. I also got to try the teo chow (cheew-zhou) wonton noodle, which was OK, but the flavor was a bit bland. I also ordered a Thai Iced Tea and got to try an almond honey milk tea, which was suprisingly sweet and pretty good. I would probably return to this location only if I have a midnight craving. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE NOODLE WORLD!!! Granted, the only thing I've gotten there have been the pad thai (both the normal and the seafood), but I absolutely love it. The servers and cashiers are always nice and helpful, and I don't know if it was the time of day or what, but the food always came out in a timely manner, so I don't understand the complaints about slow service, either. The only thing I would complain about is that I wish that there was a Noodle World closer to where I live (I live in Anaheim). I live close to Westminster where it's Asian city, so I don't think it would hurt their business to expand this way just a bit. 3.5 stars I have been to noodle world since I was a kid, sad but true. It has changed a lot having only moved a block away but after it moved I just stopped going. why?! It is expensive and it feels like you are eating in a high school cafeteria. Also service isn't the best. While the food comes in big portions at pretty good prices, I feel that a majority of their food just doesn't feel authentic. I've been to Noodle World (was Noodle Planet) since I was a kid. Now I come when I go visit my parents back in their office at Alhambra and we are short of time. It really is a convenient, all around has everything kind of place. Prices have slowly started going up which makes my family not want to come here a lot anymore. And yes, we use to come A LOT (as in we were probably regulars back at the old Noodle planet location). You can get a little better food elsewhere, but you won't get the variety. So 4 stars on variety. The spicy catfish had always been pretty good and it's something that's almost always a buy when I do come here. It gets BUSY. Service *can be* pretty fast, but it's almost chaotic at times. Hard to keep track of your server and sometimes you feel like you have to just ask anyone for help, or you might have to wait forever for help. So I don't know, if you can handle that then it's worth it to come by and at least get a quick fix of Asian food. read more

In a span of two weeks, I've already been here three times. I used to frequent the Noodle World in Westwood many times as I knew it provided delicious food at a decent price, perfect for college students. When I moved back home to the San Gabriel Valley, it made me realize how much I miss Noodle World. I usually get the pad Thai, and I've definitely had much better pad Thai now; but there's something about the recipe of Noodle World's pad Thai that keeps me coming back. My family and I love the great variety--though we usually alternate between the pad Thai, pad see ew, mint chicken, and combination pho. We're not food snobs, so as long as the food doesn't make us sick, we like it! (And Noodle World has never made us sick, just VERY FULL!!) The servings are so large that the leftovers usually last two more days at home. One major thing that I've noticed in this location compared to Westwood is that it's about two times bigger, which totally makes sense because Alhambra definitely has more Asian residents than Westwood. However, I definitely don't think it has enough staff. Trying to get a waiter for anything (water, to take your order, to get the check) literally means waving them down even if they're what seems like a mile away. My second time here, I waited about fifteen minutes longer for my entree while the rest of my family were already eating; and my third time here, the restaurant was probably so loud that the waiter didn't hear my entire order and ended up missing something. Visited the place after a long day at school and study session, got the beef steak plate served with white rice. It was delicious, meat well done and of great flavor. My friend got the pineapple fried rice which was also amazing, it has chicken, shrimp, cashews, raisins, and pineapple. It was no where busy this afternoon as I know how busy it can really get. The wait to get someone to take our order was pretty long. The wait to get our food was pretty long. And the wait to get someone to give us our check was by far the longest. I think we could have picked up and walked out without paying and nobody would have ever known - ignored. I could have made my spicy spaghetti with beef much better at home with a jar of Ragu. No, make it Barilla. Anyway, it was dry yet slathered on thick. I could barely taste the basil and y'know basil can overpower an entire plate if used too much. The beef was a little tough and had no taste to it. And it wasn't spicy at all. Too much hype for this dish. I enjoyed my lychee soda, though. A hint of saltiness to it and too bad they only give you a pair of lychees (hehehehe, get the visual?) in the drink. Lastly, carry cash although you probably know that by now. The atm there charges 65 cents for the transaction so that's really not so bad. I recommend getting the dry noodles or rice thai dishes. Sooo...this used to be like the go-to place for my family when we couldn't decide on a restaurant for our weekly gatherings. It's like the Norms for traditional American folk for Asians. Because you can get thai, chinese, chiu-chow, vietnamese, inspired dishes. I was here 7/12/18 and they are looking for a cook. The Noodle World pho has becomes less spicy, not much lime flavor as before but will have so many noodles and a large bowl. I did not see peanuts in it (maybe cuz they knew my sister was allergic and didn't add).We also shared the Pad Kee Mao was very good. My mom ordered the House Noodles. The soup tasted really good, the texture of the flat noodles was perfect. However, it was mostly ground chicken and not much shrimp, pork or fish balls/cake. read more

Noodle World, how I love you! I've been going to Noodle World since I was a kid before they moved into their "Big Boy" location! I love the different types of food they had and their easy to read menus! The portions are big and so good! Even though I've been going here for years, I haven't even tried everything on the menu because its huge! :] Food/deserts to try (because I like it! haha): - Thai Sate - They grill it to a nice texture, juicy and the peanut dipping sauce isn't dry. - Teo Chew Wonton & Noodles - The wonton is tasty! - Ramen - The broth is good! - Combo Pho - One of thee best Pho! - Thai Boat Noodles - Even though its a little spicy its so good! - Pad Thai - Pad See-Ew - Pan-Fried Beef - Chow Mein - Ask for Crispy noodles! - Spicy Spaghetti - So good but spicy! - Avocado Shake - Taro Smoothie - SHAVED ICE -- WHICH IS THE BEST THING! My all time favorite decent cheap food lol only CONS of the place is CASH only but supposedly recent visa and master cards are accepted ! But all dishes are about $10 or less And in huge QTS u can share with a friend :) !! Service is alright hit or miss like everyone else says !
