Just got home from one of the tastiest dinners I've had in a long time! I will go back every chance I get. The peanut noodles , the ginger cabbage salad, and charcoal chicken were my favorites, but everything was unique and well- prepared. Three of us shared a variety of dishes and this worked out well. The dumplings are great - we had the shrimp and garlic and they are perfect. The sauce they come in is well balanced and flavorful. Beef noodles are good on their own but if you add some of the homemade hot sauce to it, it changes the whole dish with another tasty flavor. Be careful though the ghost pepper sauce is HOT. The noddles will absorb all the sauce up. Yum. Nice variety of craft cocktails. All of them we had were on point. Service is also very friendly and attentive. They have the QR code to order at your table - we struggled with it for our second drink order and they were happy to just put it in for us. This place is so nice, it may make sense for them to just get rid of the QR codes at some point since it adds some stress to reviewing the menu and ordering. Get some hot sauces to go. My favorite is the mango habanero. read more

I'm glad that bakery section kept some of the fan favorites from the Fat Rice bakery menu. Definitely keep coming back for more Patel de Nata and Ceylon snickerdoodle cookies. They're so good. read more

They have nice and cool interior design. I felt at peace when I came here since I like interior design. They have nice set up in their chair inside for dine in. If you want to feel the presence of air and enjoy the view outside you can enjoy their outside dining. They have nice and great customer service. There are staff who greet and welcome me when I enter and also when I order my food. One of my favorites that I like on their menu was Char Siu BBQ Berkshire Pork. It was so yummy. It was so amazing. It was marinated well. I can't get enough of it. The meat was soft and so tasty. I can have a lot of extra rice if I ate these BBQs. I really suggest this food. You will try these if you come here. The waitstaff is absolutely incredible! My party (x2) went for the first time and the person at the registered told us where we could sit, and recommended a few items. We weren't thoughtful, and didn't realize that they closed within the hour, so when we tried to hurry eating, the waitstaff purposely stopped by and said it was okay, we should take our time, and that there were other people still eating. We felt awful but the waitstaff made us feel so welcomed! Few items that we got: French toast - delicious! Chicken and waffle combo is good, but the peanut butter was a surprisingly good twist. Egg tarts - honestly my favorite item. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, but the flavor was good and a good size portion. Beef noodle - I made the mistake of sharing it because that was really good and filling All in all, good place and nice atmosphere. The food was delicious. The flavors were something my husband and I have never tried before, but it still felt so homey and nostalgic. All the baked goods were amazing as were the hot sauces which they make in house. The noodles and dumplings (also made in house) were unlike any I've tried before. Honestly, everything was amazing... food, decor, and we got to talk to the owner who is so down to earth and has such an artistic way of viewing food. Food was delicious!!! My daughter and I stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised they had a kids menu. She got to try some new flavors and enjoy her usual love for dumplings. I usually don't write reviews but this restaurant triggered me. Been to Macau twice and I should say that this is nothing like the cuisine in Macau. The flavors in pork noodles were not cohesive, the char siu was hard and more on the salty side. The half charcoal chicken had no flavor, you really have to douse it in all the spicy sauce on the counter so that it would taste like anything. Nandos peri-peri chicken is 100x better. The dumplings were decent. The mango passion cooler was the best part of the meal. Will not be back. Overrated and highly disappointing. read more

This place is my happy place! Sometimes I'm scared of spicy food but this place has a wide range of spice and flavors you can't find anywhere else in Chicago. I dream about how good the BBQ pork is on the menu, along with everything else. The desserts are yummy and don't forget to grab a hot sauce to take home. So good. I mean, so so so good. I was hesitant to come back given all of the news last year, but a few back office employees and contractors I know swore up and down that real change has been made, so we gave it a shot. I went on a Saturday around 7:30 and there was no wait. We sat on the covered porch, ordered through the app and had drinks in 5 min and food within 15. We got the pork fried rice, garlic shrimp, cucumber salad, eggplant and some cocktails (too much food for 2, but I have no regrets). I can't explain the deliciousness that was this food. The pork was an umami bomb--super salty, flavorful, and with a great mix of texture. I've had dreams of that shrimp--tons of garlic and enough sauce to keep eating with the coconut rice even long after we devoured the shrimp. The only skip was the eggplant which could have been crispier, but still had great flavor. We grabbed some egg tarts to go for dessert. Overall, it was an awesome casual meal, perfect for a girls night out or a chill date night. read more

We ordered takeout tonight and WOW. Was not expecting that. We got the shrimp and garlic dumplings, char siu pork, pork noodles and the Lu special. All were outstanding. The portions were smaller than your average neighborhood takeout place but it was the perfect amount for three adults. It's pricier than your average takeout as well, but the quality and flavor is on a completely different level. We picked up our food, but inside had a really cute hipster vibe. Food is decent but overpriced for a mostly self-service restaurant. Vegetables were fresh but it was a pretty small portion of protein. Not much flavor but thankfully they have very good hot sauce on the side to bring some depth and heat. read more

Recently moved to the neighborhood. I read about the re-opening/transformation of Fat Rice to Noodlebird and hope that the owners are treating their new employees great. Every item we ordered was well-prepared, of chef quality and tasty. Chicken was moist and tender, pork noodles had great flavor and they were not too salty, cabbage side salad had a tangy dressing and the pork dumplings were light and tender, not rock hard like most places.
