We took good friends to the Nook this evening and had the best experience. Only waited a couple minutes for a table in the bar.. a quiet corner where we could talk and even catch a NBA playoffs game. This place is meh.... With that being said, Service was great. Pizza was fantastic, "nookie" dessert was great. The risotto and bolognese were less than average. Granted risotto is hard to do well but for $34 bucks at this level of restaurant it needs to be done really well. The Nook, what a perfect and wonderful surprise. My husband and I came here for last minute date night and had originally heard good things. We were seated right away and greeted by different servers. They were both very personable, attentive and gave great rundowns of the menu. We ordered the bartenders choice cocktail and we were fans of both! Although everyone shared different recommendations, we decided to go with pan seared scallops, chicken Marsala & start with arancini. The Arancini was okay, a bit dry, could have been better with more cheese or sauce. Glad I tried it but pretty basic. However the dinner options were phenomenal! The scallops were very savory and need to be balanced with something else. Very good but I wouldn't be able to eat that alone. Luckily my husband and I shared, which the server split and delivered to us on separate plates, such a nice touch. The best of the night was the Marsala, it was so good, by far the best we've ever had. Also, my husbands least favorite pasta dish is Marsala, but he knows I love it and the server recommended. I finally made it to Nook last night and it was better than I had hoped. I could definitely see it becoming a neighborhood hang out for me from time to time. Upscale but not snobby, low key vibe. It would be a great place for a date, because the tables are set up in a way so that you can have an intimate conversation. I sat at the bar and I thought the bartender was very sweet and attentive. I didn't get his name. He's listed on the receipt as PM Bar 400. As you'd expect, there was an interesting cast of characters at the bar. There were TV's all around playing sports, but it wasn't an obnoxious sports bar in any way. I had a glass of the Evolution Pinot Noir. At first I wasn't very impressed but the more I tasted it, the more complex it seemed, as a pinot noir should be. I got a pizza bianco with just carmelized onions. There were combo pizzas listed on the menu but I didn't want any meat or heavy ingredients that changed the texture of the pizza. It was delicious and perfectly baked (Neopolitan style). I'm a serious foodie and a serious Italian. And you can definitely tell when pizza is made well. The dough can't be over-handled or the crust will be tough. There was some olive oil on the pan. I couldn't tell whether the oil had dripped onto the pan or it was drizzled to prevent the pizza from sticking. But the olive oil was good quality. Overall, a really great experience. And really nice to find someplace open until 10, because I go to The Nash on Sunday nights for Jam Session and it's hard to find someplace open past 9:00 PM. Highly recommended! read more

We enjoyed a beautiful meal at Nook this past Friday evening! We walked in and loved the interior- luxe, cozy, and sleek. I had been craving a good pasta for months and nothing seemed to quite scratch that itch for me until I tried Nook's cacio e pepe- cheesy, fatty, and perfectly peppery. The chicken I added on top was moist and blackened to perfection. My husband opted for the Diavolo and he loved it- the bottom of the crust was beautifully browned and crunchy, and the outer crust had a beautiful chew to it. Before we left, we enjoyed the tiramisu- it was rich and surprisingly bright, thanks to the addition of orange zest. It was a bit watery and soggy near the bottom, but I didn't mind that much. Service was phenomenal- Isaiah was attentive the entire evening. He was also apologetic when our friends' dessert came out far too underbaked, and he made sure to make it right for us. The manager (Nicholas) let us know they were completely booked for the night but could get us a table for a couple of hours before he would need it for a reservation: DEAL! He sat us at a quaint little table by the window. Was just me and my bestie out for a quick dinner and then a show later. We ordered some fun drinks, and then tried several items from appetizer menu (Brussel chips, octopus, olives, and the bacon wrapped stuffed dates! We had to have them redo the bacon on the dates cause it came out BLACK! But they were so lovely about it and it came out super fast and manager apologized. I won't ding them on that since they handled it with grace and class. We will be back again because the service was great, the food was delicious and the manager was very kind.
