This place used to be PB's which was mediocre at best, but unfortunately it's not gotten any better in its new iteration as Norby's. I'm hoping their poorly done food and drinks will improve over time with this new management. A couple things from our experience, since I can't get ahold of anyone at the store: * My everything bagel was cooked on the griddle/grill for some reason. It tasted like all the other food that had been cooked on the grill. I think the "cook" got it mixed up with my husband's bagel, which he ordered as a part of a bagel sandwich, since his was on a toasted bagel. Either way, the griddle bagel is disgusting. As a bagel-lover, I was appalled. * My iced chai latte was "watered" down. There was barely any flavor to it. It was more milk and cream than anything else. Don't be cheap with your drinks! * The cheese on my husband's sausage, egg and cheese bagel sandwich was bland. I told him to request a different cheese next time, but you'd think the food overall would be more flavorful--from the drinks to the cheese on the sandwich. It'd be great to find a "regular" place, but unfortunately Norby's isn't it. I'll stick to trekking out to Bethesda bagels (which is actually where they get their bagels from) where they can get a simple bagel with cream cheese order straight. read more

Katie and PB brought a coffee bar to my brunch party yesterday and they were terrific. Everyone loved their coffee drinks, both hot and cold! One guest said, "I was going to stop for coffee on my wat over here, but I'm glad I didn't -- this is great!" Both servers were professional and they made the drinks so quickly that no one had to wait long. I'm happy to support a local business and Norby's is one of the best. read more

This place is great if you're looking for your neighborhood coffee shop! They have a great outdoor space that feels breathable and relaxing (as many places in the DC area are so busy and packed) for the hotter months. It is decently priced for a wide selection of food. Food is good but the service needs to be improved. The young woman who takes the orders is pretty rude. Just takes your order and hands you the food. I've walked in more than once and politely greeted her saying hello, with no reply. As soon as you pay, you don't get a thank you or anything. Our bike club met at Norby's twice now for lunch and the iced coffee and sandwiches have always been good. The outdoor patio is particularly nice, and has tables with umbrellas for shade. The staff is very nice but small, so you may need to wait a bit for your food, but it's worth it. They take care to make the food right. Highly recommend this place. But it does close at 6 pm. read more

Cute! Looks like they're still transitioning from when it was a different coffee shop, but it's coming together. My latte was great, and the unique good menu is great. We just moved into the area, and because our belongings did not come with us we have eaten at Norby's cafe multiple times throughout the last two weeks. I am yet to eat anything that was not excellent. Their breakfast food through lunch, and including their desserts are all wonderful. The desserts are definitely made by someone with culinary training. They are always light, and delicious. I would recommend their coffee drinks as well. For Christmas we customer ordered an almond cake and an assortment of macarons. The almond cake was delicious. And, the individually wrapped macarons were colorful and full of fun flavors. This was my first time coming to Norby's so I was curious what it was like since the change in ownership. Not toooo much is different, but it definitely feels cozier though and the menu is a little more curated which is kind of nice because the menu before was almost overwhelming. Main pro's: yummy food, very affordable, great location easy to get to and park. We sat right next to the fireplace on a rainy day, there were Christmas lights up, I felt like I was in a ski lodge. I'd recommend as a place to catch up with friends/family since it's not too loud, or some people I noticed were doing some work. It'll be nice too in the summer with the patio. Got an omelette wrap for $6, so, can't beat that. Only con was that my cup was filled a bit too high with coffee so I asked them to pour a little out so I could top up with extra milk how I like. I'm the type of person who loves to read reviews on anything I'm going to try for the first time. I am drawn to places that appear to have a few too many undesirable reviews. Therefore, I decided to give this place a go to see for myself. Upon entering this location, I noticed that it is clean. It does not have any foul smells. I was greeted immediately upon stepping inside of the building. I took the time to look around and notice that the seats were already full with families enjoying their saturday morning outing. The noise level was at an acceptable range despite it being almost full with patrons. I then studied the menu and decided on a waffle. I like that my waffle was made to order an I could have fruit toppings if I so desired. I waited about 5 minutes for my waffle to be prepared, packaged and handed to me to go. I must say this waffle was delicious. It was warm and saft on the inside and slighlty crispy on the outside. Just the way I like my waffle served. The syrup and butter were packaged separately which allowed me to put as little or much as I so desired. I ate the whole waffle in under 2 minutes. The portion was just the right size. The syrup was not overly sweet but had just enough sweetness to compliment the waffle. All in all I will be returning to this location to try out other items from the menu. read more

Terrible customer service. We came in and the first thing the lady working there said to us was "What are you doing here" with a nasty attitude. She informed us she had just closed and asked "if we could not hear the alarms." We did not see the sign for hours as there were many pieces of paper on their front door. I have had a breakfast sandwich twice and both times it was very well prepared. Toasted everything bagel, cheddar, spinach, artichoke and tomato. Nice Cafe with a warm comfortable atmosphere. While traveling through Rockville we where looking for a place to grab a coffee and breakfast sandwich, we prefer to patronize local businesses. Love that owner is on site. Coffee was freshly brewed and they have a nice assortment of lattes and specialty coffees. I had the egg, cheese and ham breakfast sandwich on sourdough bread and it was tasty. The table next to us was having waffles and they looked and smelled delicious. There's also a nice selection of muffins, desserts and Gelato. We will be visiting again on our next trip through the area. read more

Met family at a great little restaurant! The place is nicely decorated with art work from a local 3rd grade class...really great look! Tried the breakfast wrap which was great...nice & hot with fresh ingredients. My husband and I split one of the homemade English muffins which was also very good! I go here because its cute and local and I found that their Açai bowls are some of the best I've ever had. The guy that makes them is always really nice and takes time to make them and it shows when you eat it. Today I ordered them over the phone and it was a woman who answered and said they'll be ready in 10 min. I got there 15 min after the call and she was just starting to get stuff together for the blender. So I ended up waiting there for another 15 minutes. No apology and she was rude. I drove home and it was the worst açaí bowl I've ever had. It was pure liquid and they didn't ever really cut the fruit so it was hard to eat. And at the bottom there were chunks of acai that wasn't even fully blended (I attached a pic). So I barely ended up eating half of it.When the man who is usually working makes them, they NEVER taste or look like this. So if you're going in and its the guy who's working, definitely get the acai bowl, otherwise don't it'd be a waste of $10. read more

A nice, cosy local business coffee shop. More menu choices than most coffee shops; they are good and reasonably priced. Food is prepared there (unlike Starbucks trucked in food, heated in the microwave.) Good coffee; just wish they would serve it a little hotter. read more

I tried Norby's Cafe today. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich on an English muffin. They were out of white English muffins, so I ordered it on white bread. I also ordered an espresso. The espresso was excellent with good crema, but I was unhappy with the sandwich. First I think the cheese was bland. It was probably provalone, which is fine on many things, but too bland for an egg sandwich. I would have preferred cheddar. The bread was good, but very dry. A second on the grill would be good. However, the bacon was the worst part. There were only two small pieces and they tasted microwaved or precooked. I'm not sure what was wrong with the bacon but it was not great and there wasn't much of it. The bacon was not worth the extra $1.55 it added to the sandwich. I know that sounds cheap, but it wasn't worth it. Anyway, I may give them a second chance in a few months, but overall I was not impressed. read more
