Never experience such horrible customer service before. Not only did the manager reprimand the employee for not following a rule that does not exist publicly. But they also stopped my friend from purchasing the Gucci loafers that he was ready to buy. They literally took them out of his hand and said he could not buy them. They made up a rule that they can hold the shoes for two hours and they told him he can sit around till the store closes and maybe he can get them. This is a Friday night. The most unprofessional experience ever.. then I talked to Andrea who is actually the sales manager of the store she took no accountability then kind of threw the other manager under the bus a little bit by saying oh it wasn't me. The "other manager" that was an assistant manager that made up with this bizarre rule. as the sales manager, Andrea is responsible. The fact that they abused a power and tried to reprimand their employee for doing exactly what he was supposed to do is wild. Esmeralda and Andrea are far from professional. The star should question their employment. What's wild to me is that I was literally reading the store policy on my phone. They insisted on lying. What kind of managers don't even know their own store policies and then try to throw the employee that is doing his job under the bus. The fact that they were publicly saying this in front of customers is unacceptable. I feel bad for the employee for doing his job. He handled the situation professionally. Is that the new hip name for this place? No, I decided. It's simply a neglected outdoor sign. Well if that was the case, I was afraid of what the inside of the store might look like. Fortunately, with the exception of the kid's shoe section, this place did NOT look like a tornado had run through it. Sorting could be done better, but it wasn't the worst I've seen. Take for instance the men's shoe section, the main reason I came here. To my surprise and delight, there were several aisles of men's shoes (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nordstrom-rack-san-jose?select=oiycaEbMiyOPIv6ZJ5irPA#862BlIKXte62E-5ACTeeEg). Only one of each pair of shoes is on the shelves - this is probably for security and space reasons. Unfortunately, the shoes aren't sorted in any way except for size. Athletic shoes are mixed with dress shoes which are mixed with hiking boots. Makes it harder to find what you're looking for, and sadly I didn't find a shoe that had that "it" factor for me. Clothes hanging from the circular racks are in a jumbled order, but at least clothes are on the RIGHT racks and on the correct size hangers. Racks are labeled with signs indicating the type of clothing (e.g. jackets, golf knits, alternative, long sleeve knits) or brand (yep, some racks are dedicated to clothes of a particular brand). Compared to a regular Nordstrom, prices here are generally lower. There were nice tailored pants for $30, which I thought was a decent deal, and $50 jeans which are similar to what Macy's charges. Still, the wife and I had trouble finding anything that we really liked, despite having a gift card. And this is why we continue to have gift cards that were given to us long ago. Le sigh. read more

Not the best Nordstrom Rack I've been to, but it does the job if you're looking for some decent quality brands for a good price. Their shoe selection gets cray cray cuz it's literally like finding the other glass slipper Cinderella status in a huge pool of shoes you gotta dive into. Their jewelry selection isn't the best, I feel like other Nordstrom Racks, especially ones in SoCal have a wider selection. Lines here can get pretty damn long even with the plethora of open cashiers. Parking though is easy peasy. You never have to hunt for a parking spot in the huge lot right outside. read more

Had to return two pairs of Ugg's I bought online. I totally underestimated how big they run! Anyway, this is a bigggg Nordstrom Rack! Definitely lots of things for everyone. My biggest gripe about this location is they recently added signs on the floor and ceiling. Why though?.. they got 2 lines in the front of the store. One line is for a few items, the other line is for check out. I waited in the checkout line to return something... the guy is like oh over HeRe is returns. This review is for one employee Rizza who was extremely rude. I wanted to exchange a gift with a gift receipt, and Rizza rudely told me I wasn't allowed to do so. She spoke to me in a condescending manner and told me to "LISTEN". She then offered to get her manager and said her manager was going to say the same thing. She even said "You're just going to go in circles again". Guess what, her manager actually helped me!!! (Thank you!!!) Rizza was wrong, unprofessional, and said things that were uncalled for. She should learn how to be courteous and not waste each other's time. Perhaps next time she can say something simple like "I understand your frustration. Normally, I enjoy going to Nordstrom Rack for their variety of styles and brand names at more affordable prices. Although I love the store itself, my experience at this particular Nordstrom Rack was "eh". It took 10 minutes for an employee to come over and unlock their purses for me. I already knew what I wanted and was on a time crunch, but she insisted on me looking around and trying on the purse. Frankly, i was already slightly irritated at this point because of how long it was taking just to make the purchase (it wasn't a busy Wednesday night). I was asked about 3 times if I was sure I didn't want to open an account with them, to which I politely declined... three times. She kept saying, "you're already spending a lot, you could save with your purchase." I get it, you need to hit numbers. I was in retail for a few years. But I really didn't appreciate how pushy it came off. I get home, ready to use my new wallet and purse, only to find out she did not remove the security tags!! While the goods in this store are quality products, it's not the most organized (I.e. messy racks) and the service itself is slow and quite inconvenient. There are several locations of the rack around San Jose, but this locale is my favorite! I buy all my athletic shoes here and they have a special section for designer shoes as well. I have purchased multiple gym bags and a couple of suitcases too! I'm a huge fan on plain turtlenecks and I always stock up here. It's a staple of my wardrobe, I have a little "preppie"part of my style, especially when I was younger, it was even a part of my catholic school uniform! There are a variety of things here too, cute costume jewelry, designer handbags, hats, hosiery ( I like their brand ) socks, underwear and I could go on and on. Big fan! read more

When I wear my designer clothes and look rich, the employees ALWAYS disregard their 45 day return policy and let me exchange. Today at 11:30am, I watched a young Asian boy at the return desk allow an Asian woman return shoes WITH THE WRONG SKU TAG THAT WASN'T EVEN ON HER RECEIPT and then when it was my turn he was very rude to me and refused to return my brand new items with tags on them with an ever so slightly old receipt. My reason for return is the low quality of the merchandise. This all has a somewhat happy ending, because my $90 with of merchandise is now going to help rape victims (whose clothes are logged into evidence) in hospitals. Purchased Tomford sunglasses for $200 and couldn't get a matching case even though multiple Tom ford sunglasses were in the case. After I ask if I can choose the woman said yes I was gonna grab a gucci case because it was the only comparable thing they had. Out of nowhere a white guy with long hair yells out you can't have a Gucci case because that's our most expensive and the Manufacturer blah blah.. funny thing they only have 1 Gucci sunglass in the case for a whopping $64 dollars. I was very loyal costumer to this Nordstrom Rack and to Nordstrom for nearly three decades. Lately, the customer service is absolutely horrible. In addition, they've been implementing unreasonable new policies without any notification to their customers. For the first time ever, I was told that I couldn't return a pair of $80 jeans that I had purchased the day before. Apparently, you can no longer return brand new, unworn clothing if the price tag was removed. Seriously? So, the jeans that I just bought and didn't fit correctly ... I should just throw them away? Why wasn't I explained this at the time of purchase? The saddest part -- the horrible customer service rep accused me of wearing them. IT WAS THE STYLE. THEY SMELLED NEW! At any rate, I am finished with Nordstrom. So sad. They used to be such a good company, but they're not the same. They seem to have been replaced by a 3rd rate company who owns their old name -- just like Schwinn. I will no longer purchase any clothing from Nordstrom. This Nordstrom Rack was a huge mess. Came in the other day and the store was crowded with customers and the aisles were super tight with merchandise everywhere. There was staff around the store trying their best to clean up the store... The lines are the register were probably ~20 ppl deep too... I kinda get an inkling they mark up the prices so they make it seem like a bigger discount. But nonetheless it is cheaper than full price at the original store I suppose. This store has been here for a long time at least 16 years. You do have to dig somewhat to find good finds. But overall I've had good experiences shopping here. I believe that Nordstrom Rack recently received a large shipment of SHOES and the selection at Westgate is quite impressive, considering that we're talking about discount shoes from Jimmy Choo, Burberry, and Tods. I also saw shoes by Bettye Muller (demure gingham ones, 50% off of $80), Claudia Ciuti heels (50% off of $80), Kate Spade, Jil Sander sandals,sporty sneakers with hearts by Harajuku Lovers, Belle by Sigerson Morrison flats, Nanette Lepore ruffle booties, Coach, Tory Burch, Juicy Couture, etc. Then there are the mid-tier brands: BCBG, Steve Madden, Jeffrey Campbell, Nine West, etc. You'll find everything from flip flops to athletic shoes. I didn't check out the shoe selection for men or children. Besides shoes, they have purses (See by Chloe purses), accessories, jewelry, perfume, petite section, plus size section, lingerie, men's clothing, kid's clothing, and luggage. The women's clothing section seems inferior to the SF and Colma locations. They didn't have a special designated designer clothing section. The store feels more spacious than the average Nordstrom Rack location with a decent amount of room to maneuver around in. read more

Pretty large Nordstorm Rack in the Westgate Mall (northeast corner), but it was kind of difficult to find anything in the store. Items are grouped by type and size, but it takes a significant amount of digging and scavenging to really find anything worthwhile (especially during a sale). Tons of racks, so tons of variety, but also very difficult to narrow down the options to what you're looking for. They have mobile stations where they can check you out using a credit card thing attached to an iPhone, which does help speed up the process when there's ton of people waiting to pay, but even those stations had a decent line when I came by. I found it easier to shop online and have the items shipped to me directly. But it doesn't hurt to stop by when you happen to be at Westgate already. read more

I only recently started going to Nordstrom Rack. After having such a good experience at another location I could not wait to go back. Unfortunately I mixed the locations up. This location was incredibly busy. Black Friday/ Christmas Day busy. While I was there mainly for shoes (a recent foot injury means I have to buy higher quality and larger shoe sizes for right now) I also glanced at the purses since my gorgeous blue shoulder bag had some problems with the leather and had bitten the dust hard. Now, while I understand Nordstrom Rack is for a lower income type of customer and theft must be rampant in the area, the continuous shrill buzzing from different places in the store from the theft deterrents made the shopping experience singularly awful. And seem more than a little trashy. Picking out a purse while they beeped - awful. Trying on the shoes and having them pop off and start blaring - awful. There is a reason I shop at high end consignment stores when I want a great deal. They have champagne, and there are no large black boxes that scream at you when you try on their shoes. I mean for petes sake... My final straw came when I held up the shrill screaming box to an associate only to watch her glance at me and continue on with her conversation. I set the box on the table and walked off - only to wait in line for almost 20 minutes just to make my purchase. I'm not coming back to this location. Ever. read more

With any Nordstrom Rack or outlet stores, you have to realize that it'll always be a hit or miss. That isn't necessarily the fault of the store itself, but perhaps the customers that come in to swipe all the treasured finds before you do! That being said, this Rack generally has a pretty good selection of all types of items. Yes, the lines are long but trust me, they move very fast. There's no need to blame the popularity of this store by deducting stars from the reviews because the lines are "too long". You already ransacked through the store for great deals, whats another 10-15 minutes at the most waiting in lines? Something that surprised me was that most employees have great attitudes and are pretty willing to help you look up an item in the system for an alternate size/color. If it's not available in the store, they'll help you look up other stores that have them. You have the option of having them shipped (for a cost) or physically going into the other store. If you have a Nordstrom card, I believe shipping is free. I've found many treasured deals at this location: classic black Tory Burch Reva flats for $64, Nike dry fit pants for $27, 7 for all Mankind jeans for $50, and the list goes on. read more

Oh Nordstrom's Rack... how you've fallen from grace. Years ago, in Chandler Arizona, I'd go here at least every three weeks looking through the shoes. I found their prices on other items to be reasonable though not exceptional... but I could always find stellar deals on footwear because older items had a color-coded label and were 35% or 50% off of the already-lowered price. Looking through only those items, I could find really great shoes in the $35-$50 range. Last night, made a special trip here specifically for that reason... and they don't do that anymore. Sales are just marked with clearance stickers. And the prices don't seem as aggressive as they once were. I just didn't see much marked very low that wasn't terrible in style or condition. If I'm going to pay $80 for a pair of shoes, I can find that full-price elsewhere. I ended up discovering DSW and spending $90 for three pairs of cool shoes - the type of deal I used to get at Nordstrom's Rack. End of an era, as far as I'm concerned. Love this Nordstrom Rack! Lots of variety, lots of sizes, and usually well organized (though if it's not, it's because they are having huge sales and then it's well worth the searching). I love this store for many reasons but I really have to note how great the customer service is. I was having issues with my Nordstrom card today because of some sort of mix-up with my rewards, and Jessica really helped me out! She was incredibly nice and took the time to call my card because she said it would be easier for her to do it than for me. She also gave me advice on multiple point days, which she definitely didn't have to do but I really appreciated. Lastly, Irene in alterations is amazing! Avoid weekends if you can - long lines and just too many people! Weekdays are much more enjoyable. You'd have to enjoy being a pro at digging around the clothing racks and shoe shelves to enjoy yourself. At times it can get dizzy after looking through and you forget why you were there in the first place. I feel that with all that they have to offer, I always leave like I didn't find exactly what I was looking for in the first place. Shoe Selection: Some of the shoes are not in perfect condition. Understandable as there are many people going through the same selection as you. They have sizes as small as 4.5 to 11. Clothing for Women: They have a big selection of day dresses and evening dresses. Jeans: selections such as NYMJ and Citizens of Humanity Children's selection: They have special occasion dresses for girls as well as every day play clothes for both boys and girls. There is a selection of toys also. If you have the Nordstrom card, they have a points rewards program as well as free alterations if needed. read more

This is a very large Nordstrom Rack store located in the Westgate Mall. There are tons of racks of clothing, especially the clearance section. I'm sure if you dig long enough you can find something you'd like here. The brand names here are pretty good. Lots of Vince, Guess, BCBG, etc. I even spotted some Hugo Boss in the clearance racks (alas they were not my size). The sunglasses section is pretty impressive. They have a lot of brands like Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, etc. I have recently started going to Nordstrom Rack for my sunglasses and I convinced my sister to do the same. Some of the shoes inventory seemed a bit old/dated (I saw my pair of shoes that I bought like two years ago here) but I guess you could find bargains if you look hard enough. read more

Good selection of clothes, purses, and cosmetic/beauty items. The store is kept clean and tidy for the most part, however on weekends it can get pretty disorganized, especially in the sale sections. No complaints about the fitting rooms, which are usually clean. My only gripe is that the time it takes to check out will probably take about 50% of the whole time you spend in the store; it can take upwards of 30-45 minutes just to get to the counter even when you're the 10th person in line and all 5 registers are open. read more
