I'd definitely get this again. (5/5) Sicilian Meatballs - FIRE. I loved this. Super flavorful and came with cheese on the bottom. So good. (5/5) Breakfast Carbonara Pasta - Very tasty. We were shopping at the Cerritos Mall and thought we would try a new restaurant, so we visited North Italia. It is located on the east side of the mall. Seating is available at the bar, in the main dining room, or in the fully covered patio. They have a happy hour from 3pm to 6pm on weekdays, so we sat in the bar area. We started off with the Zucca chips ($9 during happy hour, normally $12.50). This is a huge bowl of very thin slices of zucchini with a light breading. They are surprisingly light, and the pesto aioli was great for dipping. They were only a tiny bit greasy. They are addictive, and we kept reaching for more and more until the bowl was empty. I had the Alta Rossa cocktail (Raspberry Infused Lalo Tequila, Italicus Rosolio, Fresh Lemon, $16.50). What an attractive and colorful cocktail! This was a really great balanced cocktail with a light sweetness and light bitterness. Bonus points as always for the foam top. Italicus always catches my eye on a cocktail menu with its great bergamot flavor. I asked our bartender if I could try a little taste of the Italicus on its own, and she was happy to oblige. Without asking, she also brought a little shot of one of their amaros to try. What awesome service. She had the Phony Negroni ($12). This is a non-alcoholic version of a Negroni. It was served with the same common orange peel slice garnish, and tasted very similar to a full strength negroni with its bitter profile. We also had the Burrata Di Stagione appetizer ($18.50).This had a really great variety of flavors with a good sized serving of creamy burrata cheese along with a nice sweetness from the apple chunks and butternut squash with hazelnuts and bread crumbs. For my entrée, I had the Squid Ink Tonnarelli ($28). It came with a generous amount of shrimp and calamari. The red tomato sauce had the perfect level of spiciness, and the squid ink pasta was great. She had the Roasted Salmon ($28). The salmon was cooked well as ordered, and lays on top of a bed of broccolini and a small bead shaped pasta with a basil pesto sauce. She enjoyed it. Erin was our bartender and server. She was so friendly, and provided great service. I really appreciated her letting me try the Italicus straight, and the unexpected amaro sample. I recently visited this restaurant for dinner with my family, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We specifically came to enjoy their happy hour, but after we arrived, we were told that happy hour is only available at certain tables within the restaurant. If you're seated anywhere else, you have to pay full price. I found this policy to be frustrating and unnecessary. As a customer, it doesn't make sense why the same restaurant would limit happy hour based solely on where you're sitting. If I owned the restaurant, I'd want every guest who walked through the door to enjoy the specials and encourage them to stay longer, order more, and come back. Policies like this leave a bad impression and make customers feel like they're playing games just to receive the advertised pricing. Because of this experience, I can't recommend this restaurant. There are plenty of other restaurants that appreciate their customers and offer happy hour without unnecessary restrictions. Spend your money where you'll be treated fairly. read more

I made reservations over a week ahead which was a breeze and appreciated the open table reminders. We arrived and the hostess greeted me and offered to sit us despite our full party hadn't arrived. They made no issue. It was a Thursday night and it was busy and live! Our server was great. Patient, friendly and quick. I decided to go with the bolognese because it seemed to be most popular plate ordered by others on Yelp. I'm so glad I did! It was delicious! We also ordered the truffle bread and calamari which were both 10/10. The chicken parmigiana was shared among the table and it was a no, with it being too salty. The tiramisu was also a low rating as it didn't taste like tiramisu and had not an ounce of coffee taste. The other dessert which is shown was delicious! I would definitely order it again. It had an amazing caramel crunch on top of it and the flavors were incredible! We also got a couple mocktails and they were refreshing and tasty! I really enjoyed that it wasn't all "sugared" up. I want to add that they were really busy that night but never did we feel rushed to leave to give up our table as some of our group offered espresso and coffee with their dessert. The Spicy Broccolini is something I can have everyday of my life! I've actually ordered this to-go one other time. I love their wine display. It makes me want to pair my dish. They also have this massive polychromatic painting of some random chic. I asked my waitress about its relevance but I got a lack-luster response. Parking was a little bit of a hassle but was able to finally find a space that is a few minutes from the restaurant. The restaurant is roomy and cozy with bar seating and a lot of indoor seating. We ordered a lot of food an appetizer but my favorite was the squid ink tonnareli because of the good amount of seafood and kick of spice. The Braised Short Rib Lumache was a little underwhelming from why I expected. The calamari did its job and started the meal off well. Yesterday was my daughters 27th birthday and I let her choose which restaurant she wanted to have dinner at. Without batting an eye, she selected North Italia! I asked where it was located and she said it was at Cerritos mall, former location of CPK. I said, great let's do this! Neither one of us have ever been here, I do like Italian food so we were excited. We had a group of 5 and were very excited. We did make a reservation for 5:30 but a reservation isn't required. Location is great, close to Lazy Dog. There is a beautiful outdoor patio but we say indoors. It is beautiful! As a first time visitor, we were very impressed at how nicely decorated, well done. We had a very nice corner table too, beautiful! I love the wood ceilings and just so well decorated. We didn't know what to order, everything sounded so good. We got a margherita pizza, 3 Caesar salads with chicken, a child chicken Alfredo and bolognese pasta. The ceasar Salas was one of the best I've ever had! The croutons were made in house and all the ingredients were fresh, very well done! The pizza was delicious, fresh and flavorful and just perfect! We finished the pizza fairly quickly. Lastly, the bolognese pasta was just perfect, that's what's daughter selected for her birthday meal. We also got strawberry lemonade and modelo beer. I think the strawberry lemonade is made in house, doesn't seem like it's concentrated. My daughter(the birthday girl) was given a complimentary desert. I believe it was a salted caramel ice cream but I could be wrong. It was delicious! All around this was an amazing first time experience, we all enjoyed ourselves. Arriving early for pickup, the staff member was friendly & hospitable as there was about five minutes of wait time. I had to ask for chili peppers & olive oil, of which I received the former, not the latter. Ample seating indoors, and al fresco in the patio, with plentiful bar seating, too. North Italia is located on the Gridley Road side of Los Cerritos Center, across from Lazy Dog. Without the online order promo, I don't see being a frequent visitor a possibility. The pizza was fine, but the regular price is too much to justify. North Italia is usually busy most times I've been at the mall, so the restaurant will presumably be a longtime tenant in Cerritos. Even though I had a reservation and there were open window seats, I was first seated near the restroom. After I asked, they moved us to a better table by the window. The food at North Italia is truly unforgettable, and secondary to the large serving size, you don't have to remember because there is likely going to be leftover. This place is popular at the Cerritos mall!! We weren't able to make reservations in advance but we just walked around the mall until our table was ready. The ambiance of this restaurant is nice but very dark if you get seated in the outdoor section at night. We ordered the meatballs and garlic bread as appetizers and they were both delicious! I loved dipping the bread in the meatball sauce too! I'm most of the party ordered pasta but I felt like something lighter so I ordered the seasonal vegetable salad with salmon. So delicious, although I will say the shrimp were a lot smaller than last time. The flavor was definitely there and the garlic and roasted tomatoes were perfectly roasted, melted in our mouths. Friends ordered the lasagna, which she loved, the meat was so tender and the marinara packed a little surprise kick. We also ordered the chicken strozzapretti. It was great size portion and the chicken was so tender. And the mushrooms were a perfect touch. My friend and I both ordered the Ricotta Cavatelli. This is where I was disappointed. The sauce was nice and light, but it was not hot at all, as if it had been sitting there. The other problem was the cavatelli was gummy not like a good chew at all. The shrimp again were small and I did not see one piece of lump crab, it was just strands of crab as if I was having a crab bisque. The flavor wasn't bad, but there was nothing that stood out. I just stopped eating it, all I could think was, I should have stuck with the scallops. We also ordered dessert the brookie sundae, which I suggest everyone try, it's the cutest way to have your guest build their own sundae, and the affogato, I'm not a coffee drinker, but they loved it, said it was the best they ever had. Our waitress Brooke, was what made this stay even better. She was so sweet and kept our glasses full. It was a wonderful night with friends and good food. The food was outstanding, the noodles are made in house and tasted fresh. The service was good as our waitress kept checking up on us if we needed anything. The place is very clean and we were seated by the patio area. During hot days I'd recommend to get seating indoors with the AC on. The dessert on the other hand wasn't so great as the banana chocolate pudding was too salty and the butter bread was too bland.
