So I had the opportunity to eat here about a week after it opened. I had never been to a "Not Your Average Joe's" before, so pretty much unaware it was a chain. You might not know that is, either. Both the sign and interior don't really feel like a chain restaurant, either. It suits this place. It feels unique, and offers a wonderful dining experience before you get to deep into mall traffic down the road. I ended up getting a the cheese steak egg rolls as a starter and the mustard-crusted chicken. I can honestly say, picking things off the menu was kind of hard for me. While the place advertises "American Cuisine" - it's actually more of a fusion-type place. Like, I wouldn't normally associate "egg rolls" in traditionally American, but making them cheese steak? It worked. The one thing I can say about the apps is that they are pretty heavy and filling, so this is definitely one of those places where you can order and split appetizers in lieu of doing a full entree. Also? The cheese steak egg roll is amazing. You should get it if you visit. I can't even talk about the mustard-crusted chicken. It was quite possibly the best chicken I had in 2014. I can say that I'm writing this on the last day of the year. It was so good, I'll probably go back just to get this... and there's a lot of other things on the menu, guys. The decor feels pretty industrial, but in an accessible way. The bar is in the middle of the restaurant, with kind of a circular set up (the Uno's near the mall is very similar, but not as cool looking as this new NYAJ). You can see the kitchen in the back, so if you're worried the people cooking your food are goofing off, it's definitely not happening. The wait staff was also pretty amazing. Can't say enough things about the few interactions I had with the employees. Lots of smiles, and I never felt neglected. Nashua is usually lame and never gets anything new or cool. I wholeheartedly give this place my top recommendation. I had an amazing experience. read more

Tldr; food has been going downhill for a while and I'm giving up. The bread at this place is usually pretty great. I found the meals pretty lackluster but it's a good place where everybody can find something. The only thing I really enjoy here's the cobb salad and I've been many times. Every couple of months they change the dish that it's in or some of the ingredients and it always seems to to be the goal to spend less money ingredients to increase profit. The last time that I went they switched out the default grilled chicken for some weird process turkey but I definitely was not willing to eat. It definitely seems like there was a larger percentage of iceberg in the mix as compared to previous versions. Every couple visits something gets really messed up and theyseems you got to make things right with a free dessert. I'm not sure if that usually works or not but I'm never interested. the point is whether customer service seems pretty solid. Maybe my opinion isn't normal but I would rather pay more dollars and enjoy my food then get a deal. I get the idea of trying to increase your margin but they've taken it too far. read more

I have eaten at and enjoyed Not Your Average Joes in other locations (Acton and other establishments in MA) several times. This was our first trip to this location, we were hungry and looking forward to dinner. But we were unable to try the food. The restaurant was largely empty when we arrived at 5:15 on a Sunday. We were seated in an odd booth near the front hostess stand. As a party of 5 we could easily have fit into a regular booth, but for some reason they felt the need to seat us where a chair needed to be brought over and an extra place setting brought out, but whatever. We reviewed the menu, discussed drinks, apps, main courses. Planned out our meal. The restaurant slowly began to fill up a bit more. And we continued to wait, without being checked in on by a wait staff person. Patrons seated near us but after we had been seated were brought bread, water, ordered drinks, still we waited. Finally we decided that being ignored was only fun for so long. About 20 minutes after being seated, we walked out. Nobody seemed to notice that either. I guess the lesson learned is to go to your average Joe's. Maybe there they know what customer service is. read more

This place left nothing to be desired. It all started with the amazing bread and dip, with the perfect amount of garlic. Followed by the sweet lemonade (I recommend the mango). I had heard that this is a franchise, and I usually try to avoid those, but I had heard some good things so my wife and I decided to give it a go for lunch. We sat at the bar but didn't drink. I started out with a cup of chowder and a chop salad. My wife had the fried goat cheese salad. The staff was friendly, competent, and (I am assuming by design) attractive. The place hasn't been open very long so there was a sense of people getting used to everything, but really no complaints. I thought that the food was good but not great, and I thought that it was a little bit overpriced. This place used to be great, and while their bread and dipping sauce are still some of the very best, the rest of the meal, not so much. The burgers were bland and what happened to the fries? We hadn't been in a while and my husband was specifically looking forward to the fries, which we believe used to be fresh cut, with the skin still on and now, that are boring run of the mill "yellow" shoe string fries. And the women's restroom there has a horrible smell, always has. I've been in port-a-potties that smell better than this bathroom. No idea what's wrong with it but it's horrible. read more

Sooo glad this restaurant opened in Nashua because I have become addicted. Literally everything I've had here is top notch. I am so picky about my margaritas - their's are some of the best! Good beer selection, amazing happy hour specials and the best bread and oil while you wait for your food. I've had steak tips, buffalo Caribbean tenders, calamari, nachos, sliders (mustard chicken is the best one), Sante fe chicken pizza, beer braised clams, and it is all fantastic. Above all, my favorite this is the butternut squash flatbread - I'm obsessed. It sounds a bit weird with the toppings, but I promise you won't be disappointed. We've become regulars here and usually stick to apps and drinks during happy hour. Service is ALWAYS phenomenal so I always make it a point to take their survey at the end of our visit. Make a reservation if you go on a Friday or Saturday for dinner as it gets REALLY busy and wait times can be greater than an hour. We arrived 30 min before our reservation because it was too cold to walk around the outlets anymore. While we waited we were asked if we wanted anything from the bar multiple times and also offered white pizza. This was really nice and is rare at most restaurants. We were seated 5 min early. Waitress was really cool. The bread and Parmesan dip was amazing like always. We got an order of nachos, however they weren't the size of nachos you are used to, the four of us got two large chips each, but piled Pretty good with chicken. Between that and the bread though, it is enough. My bf got the BBQ meatloaf and I got the Thai chicken wraps(was disappointed they were cold and not hot), but entrees were good. read more

This restaurant chain should decide what it's going to be, because the menu is all over the map, and it's unclear what type or style of food they specialize in. Lets be honest, you can't do everything well, and this is a restaurant with no identity, at least in terms of the food. The Nashua, New Hampshire location is a disaster when it comes to presentation and taste... dishes seem hastily thrown together, and lack flavor. My nephew had a Meatloaf Sandwich that had a bread tie in it, and the french fries were pale and mushy, not crisp and crunchy... awful looking and even worse to eat. Unfortunately, the manager of this location isn't very good at customer relations, but our waiter did his best. The food is pricey and bland, if not tasteless, and either overcooked or undercooked. I certainly won't be recommending this place, and have no plans on going back. read more

One of the best dining experiences I have had. I went on a Monday night with my boyfriend and we were seated instantly. The decor is really entertaining to look at and the staff was great. I normally do not get appetizers but I ordered the Ahi Tuna Wontons and just wow. The fish tasted fresh and was the perfect texture. They were phenomenal. I got it with the Japanese Chili Spice Wontons as opposed to the cucumbers. I highly recommend this. I'd go back for just this appetizer. For my meal I ordered the Veggie Burger and it was huge! The burger also comes with an organic salad or fries. Very tasty and filling. All the food I had was so good I even ended up ordering a coffee and a dessert. Again it was delicious, I ordered The Peanut Butter Thing (yes that is the actual name) it is pretty much a super amazing ice cream cake. For drinks I enjoyed a Raspberry Lime Ricky which was refreshing and bottomless. I also had a Moscow Mule with had a fruity twist of blackberry. My boyfriend ordered a few beers because they had a great selection on tap. On top of a great atmosphere and the food being fantastic our waitress, who was named Kate, was awesome. My wife and I were nearby, running an ultra marathon in Brookline. We left the course after 30 miles, needing some real food and sleep before we would do 15 more miles the next morning. I rarely review a place on one visit, but this place did so many little things perfectly, that I'm making an exception. I was a little nauseous from our hours on the race course, so I opted for simple food - chicken pot stickers and clam chowder. Both were very good. My wife started with a beer - ordering from the draft list, but they brought her a seasonal pumpkin ale from the same brewery. We pointed out the error and they fixed it immediately. No complaints or anything. They just fixed it. My wife had a burger and fries and loved it. Our waiter was awesome. The space is big - almost an industrial feel. But, it was warm and cozy. If every one of the shitty chains out there was a little bit serious about good ingredients, good booze and beer, and making their customers HAPPY, they would be like this place. I don't get to the area often, but I will be back. We did have a hard time finding the place. We let Yelp give us directions, and the directions took us to a plot of grass beside a nearby ski shop. I just wanted to add an update 11/8/17: I had the best time here last night. We reserved a table for 6 and it was ready and beautifully prepared when we arrived. The wait staff was phenomenal, as was the food. We had two members of our party with Gluten issues and they almost cried with joy when they saw the extensive gluten free menu options. Everything was cooked to perfection and the bill for 6 people (including alcohol) was extremely reasonable. It's the perfect place for a group get together. Ok. It's easy to give a five star rating when the first thing out is a great baked bread and dip. Follow that by the waitress giving you a free lemonade because you ask how they were. No in true yelp fashion I will tell you that it was less sweet than I like, but I'm from the south and think you serve sweet tea and lemonade with more sugar than water. At any rate, I had the jumbalaya and it was very tasty and big enough to share. Third time is not a charm. I've been there multiple times. The food is excellent, and it was great when I was there last too. The problems are the hostesses, our waitress, a former and the time it took to get our meal. We were there on a rainy Thursday, 2 weeks ago. It was not busy at all. The two hostesses hanging around were ok, but certainly not exuding friendliness. No friendly smiles there. Our waitress was Rina and she seemed preoccupied--so while she was attentive, it seemed obvious that she wanted to be anywhere but there. The food took about 45 minutes. I know it's fresh but that seems like a lot of time considering how slow it was. I'm definitely going back in the hopes that this doesn't go the way of so many other chains. First off... this is the best lunch experience we've had in ages. Service was spot on and the food was great. Our server, Miranda, kept our refills coming without our having to ask. Everything came out correctly and in timely manner. She was friendly and efficient! The food was also great. The focaccia bread with Parmesan and oil they serve to start off with is absolutely delicious. We had the BBQ meatloaf and mustard crusted chicken, mashed potatoes, carrots and fries. We had a few poor experiences in the last week with takeout, the most recent one getting home after a 25 minutes drive each way with a baby to find out the hostess gave us someone else's order. We spoke to a manager who handled the situation amazing. He asked what he could do to make the situation better and I told him if we are going to drive all that way again, we would like our money back and the original order we placed. He was more than happy to do that for us. He was very apologetic and certainly wants to please his customers. Hey, mistakes happen, but this was the second time in one week we had a bad experience at this location which is why we were so upset. Needless to say, the food is always amazing and because of the outstanding manager last night, I am giving it 4 stars. read more

This is a store that has been turned into a restaurant. I kinda like the atmosphere. We tried everything calmari which is a favorite in most places. Here it was greasy is the best way to put it. It also seemed a little too spicy. I like spicy, but this was too much. Then I had the chicken cacciatore which was so so. The pasta was kink of chewy. Didn't try desert but the discription ok some sounded good. Will have to try some other time. read more

We had a terrific service experience with our server JOHN (6'1, stocky build, beard). Our 4 year-old son Grayson is totally in love with John and wanted to take him home. We had to explain that we couldn't do that but would come back to see John. We will definitely call ahead to arrange our next visit when John can be our server. We don't think our son is gay. One of my favorite spots to go in Nashua is NYAJ, for the following reasons.... 1. The bar staff is AWESOME. All are very friendly and their service is top notch. Always personable, super-quick with service and (even w all the people they serve) remember our drink preferences from the last time we were in. 2. The drinks are great too. This was first experience with any of the NYAJ restaurants. I must say that the food was excellent and the service was at par with it. I ordered nachos for appetizer and they were excellent. They were not soggy and heavy as you usually are used to but were really light and very fresh. The pineapple-mango smoothie that my wife ordered was a also delicious. I ordered chicken noodle soup for dinner and my wife got a salad and both were very good. The servers were very eager to help and suggest and so were the managers who were around to check if everything was fine. The interiors were cozy and music was good and not loud. All in all, a very good experience overall. Highly recommend it in the Nashua area. read more

Nice place...great ambiance! The service...not so great. I ordered a salad and an entree. The waitress specifically asked if I wanted the salad to come out first...I said yes. When she brought my salad, she also brought my entree. She said she put the salad in first, but they both came out...she asked if this was OK. She didn't wait for an answer...she just put the plate on the table. I said I wasn't ready for the entree...she took it back, but she so wasn't happy about it! When I finished my salad, she brought it back...the same plate! It had totally died under the heat lamp. I couldn't believe she brought it back...I should have asked for a new one, but she was so put out by having to take it back the first time, I had no idea what she'd do to the next one. Really pleased with our lunch today. We had the poached pear salad, chicken noodle soup and Thai chicken wraps. The timing of our entire meal was great and our waitress was spot on! Promptly filled empty glasses when we didn't even realize she was around to notice. Salad was excellent but wished there was more pear. Soup had good flavor for chicken noodle. Thai wraps were lightly dressed but had great flavor, although the texture of chicken "got weird" to my mom as she ate them. Wish the bread was warm but it was tasty. All minimal issues considering how good it was overall. Glad I convinced my mom to try it and I hadn't been to this chain in over a year. We will be back! read more
