We used to come here almost weekly as kids. While driving through Burbank many years later I decided to stop by. Although the original owner sold the business and the name has been slightly changed the food is still the best Chinese food I've ever had! I ordered hot and sour soup, chow mein a la carte and Kung pao (3 flavors) to go. All the food was r ally good, freshly made and they even give you the fried wonton chips to go. The chow mein was enough to feed 5 and had broccoli, bok choy and cabbage. The hot and sour soup was soooo delicious. I know every cook makes it different but this version has a slight quick to it and actually has some pork and shrimp in it! The Kung pao was spicy just like I asked and had plenty of chicken, shrimp and beef. Yes, it has some old style tables and chairs and it's a small restaurant but when you're eating delicious, freshly made food the most important thing is flavor and taste. I started a company nearby in 2020. I've been a patron of Nu Great Wok since day 2. I highly recommend their 3 Flavor King Pao special. Piping hot, great spice, and very savory. My go to is their King Pao Chicken with String Beans. Juicy chunks of meat, perfect seasoning, and a great crunch with the veggies. My other comfort food is their Mabo Tofu (extra spicy). One order of that, with a large rice will cover me for 2 meals. It's my staple for lunch, and I'm thoroughly satisfied with their pricing and quality. read more

I've been looking for those bad boys for like 20 years and had a place in Noho, but the guy died, and no one knew had to make em after. These are hard to make and find and oh so delicious. The yelp reviews are wrong on this place! I've been ordering here for a long time. The place changed ownership awhile ago--and this spot is still perfect. The food and service was amazing. We ordered the Wonton Soup, steamed dumplings, sesame chicken and double fried pork. Our family of three could have stopped with the soup and dumplings!! Okay- here is the breakdown. The wonton soup has delicious flavor, big shrimp and chicken pieces and lots of veggies. The steamed dumpling are HUGE - homemade - and delicious!! Our six year old devoured them. One of the best, quick (don't want to call them fast food) Chinese food in the SF Valley. I get that this isn't exactly the most "authentic" food out there but what it is, is really good food. The egg drop soup is delicious, the Mongolian beef is great as well. The prices are reasonable and portions are good. The owners are really nice and there is usually parking in this strip mall location. Food is always consistent, doesn't feel like it's been sitting for hours, always hot and made on order and that is a good thing with this kind of Chinese restaurant. read more

I came in at noon on Easter Sunday. No line, no one in the restaurant save some employees cleaning green beans, it looked like. Fresh produce, always a plus. I ordered the Sichuan Beef and a side of egg rolls. It came out very quickly, piping hot. When I got home, I was dismayed to find the beef tasted like...seafood. None of the vegetables in the dish had a fishy taste, just the beef, leading me to conclude that either the beef was cross-contaminated with a shrimp dish, or was fried in old oil. Massively disappointed, shall not be returning again. (That said, the egg rolls were delicious, if over priced...but all food is more expensive these days, so I can't blame the restaurant for that) read more

I have tried a few things from here in the last few months. I definitely recommend the Kung Pao San Yan a combination with beef, chicken and shrimp sautéed in a spicy sauce with green onions and peanuts. Very yummy. I also tried the chicken and garlic sauce. It's a spicy garlic sauce that it's cooking with white rice. Very yummy as well. These two meals were so good. I had to call the owner and tell him it's been a while since I was able to complement any restaurant I don't know if he took my compliment at face value or not I hope so. We have also tried their lunch specials and had a variety of the beef and broccoli pork fried rice pay attention to the rice, because even though we ordered the same way, it came to different ways just know which pork fried rice you are ordering, and that the order taker understands which one you want. The chef special seem a little on the pricey side, but the food does go a long ways enough for dinner and then lunch another day. The chef special was quite spicy, but very enjoyable. The menu is pretty full with lots of different dishes/options but I ended up trying the combination fried rice, broccoli beef and vegetable egg rolls. The portions are fairly large; these three dishes were plenty for two people. The broccoli beef was overall a very flavorful dish. The meat was very tender! I was told, The kitchen just forgot to sprinkle sesame seeds on top, sorry. Isn't that the whole point? I also said it's not supposed to have chilis. "That's the Orange Chicken." Yesterday, on a Sunday afternoon, I ordered take-out for the first time from Nu Wok and was pleasantly surprised. Don, the person who took my order, was extremely attentive, pleasant and helpful, If there were any attitude problems with the staff reported previously, I saw no sign of anything like that while I was there, and I wonder if it might have involved previous owners or helpers quite some time ago. In any case, I ordered a lot of food, which was prepared in good time, and most importantly all the selections were delicious: kung pao chicken, shrimp in lobster sauce, sweet & sour chicken, pineapple fried rice with shrimp & chicken. Not cheap but not unreasonable --there was plenty of shrimp, no skimping as so many restaurants do. Perhaps not the rarest of the most expensive gourmet quality but yo my taste really quite flavorful and substantial, large portions yet excellent variety and quality for a neighborhood restaurant with simple but very pleasant, clean and neat decor and tables. They are now open 7 days a week and deliver within a three-mile radius for only a $3 fee at the present time. The variety is awesome, the flavors are spiced wonderfully and balanced really well. The meats have a wonderful crispy cooked texture; it's never soggy or dry. The Orange chicken is tangy and delightful. General Tso chicken is always a win. It's very important to note they bring out crispy wonton strips before you order. They are highly addictive and wonderful. They also bring out sweet and sour sauce for your dipping pleasure... Please don't quote me on that out of context. It's also important to talk about how amazing their lunch specials are. This lunch special is no joke! You'll save a lot and satiate your hunger completely. I've been coming here for several years. Though on initial inspection it looks like a typical small, strip-mall Chinese restaurant, it serves surprisingly good food. The service is also always topnotch. These two factors raise the level of this restaurant above expectations. Kung pao chicken here was good... but not the best I've ever had. The meat was tender. There were too many peanuts, and the peanuts tasted a little old, and had a weird aftertaste. The sauce was really tasty though, and I could eat all my rice just drenched in the sauce. The hot and sour soup tasted a little like egg drop soup with a little soy sauce for color. There was neither hot nor sour in it. I'll come back again, since their kung pao flavor is pretty decent, and I'll try their much acclaimed woo won ton soup. read more
