We came here over an hour before our show at the Wallis (three minute walk away) and thought we had plenty of time to enjoy the meal. The cauliflower appetizer was awesome so we were excited for our main courses to come. Unfortunately, we waited. And waited. And waited. Our server never came back over to check on us, see if I wanted another glass of wine (until it was too late), or give an update on why the food was taking so long. I started to lose my buzz and we got worried we were going to be late for the show. Waited some more. Finally, out came the cauliflower schwarma and burger. Both needed salt. The schwarma was almost $30 and nothing special. A bunch of chickpeas and chopped cauliflower on lavash with flavorless sauce. The burger looked nice but also lacked flavor. We rushed through the meal because it took so long to come out and hustled over to the Wallis, dissatisfied with our dinner experience at Nua. Honestly, I should give them three stars, but the ambiance and the appetizer and the wine were pretty good. Won't be back, though. read more

Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat at Nua. I had made a reservation online several days ahead of time, received a confirmation, and called to check on parking yesterday afternoon, the day we were to drive in for dinner. Whoever answered the phone said they were having a private party and wouldn't be able to seat us until after the party was finished, when we needed to be driving to an event. I would have expected a call, text, or email letting me know about this ahead of time. Had I not called we would have made the hour drive, paid for parking, and learned we couldn't be seated. read more

Due for an update as it's been almost four years since I wrote my (and apparently Nua's) first review. I didn't really eat much this go-round, but I've also been here pretty consistently over the last few years, so this is something of an aggregate review. Firstly, the ribeye is to die for, especially medium or medium rare. I've also gotten into the habit of ordering a side of the cauliflower florets to go with it, and so far I've never gone wrong with this combo. But it's a bit much for a single person when you also add the florets, so be prepared to split it unless you're routinely used to crushing 16oz ribeyes and still being hungry. Secondly, in the past four years Nua developed a bit of a reputation for being fairly secluded, at least in Rodeo Drive terms. So you'll occasionally find folks here who value their privacy. If you respect it, you'll probably get to enjoy the time you spend with them. Thirdly, Josh somehow continues to do wonders behind the bar. I trust his hand with the drinks. Fourthly, they haven't tampered much with the original Crescent Hotel styling other than swapping the furnishings, which is for the best for the moody feel it's got. I'm eternally a fan of the vibe. Fifthly, the Harira might be the value meal here. If you just need something light, it's (as of writing) $9 for a cup of brutally savory lentil chickpea tomato soup. And the deep fried pita was a surprise. Was trying to be healthy, but alas. Only drawback, but not enough for me to dock a star especially considering how much fixing this would cost: I do wish the bar was longer and could seat more people. 5 stars, even still. read more

The only star given is for Kelvin our server, who was delightful. The only reason we wound up here was because there was line outside of Dialog Cafe, and we were hungry af. We researched the menu and saw that the cuisine was Mediterranean, and the red flags went up, as so many groups claim that epithet, when they're nothing more than interlopers. The second we walked in, there was no one there to greet us. We were seated, and immediately the vibration of the room gave off something oddly cold and sinister. Came here fore brunch and ordered three incredible dishes: Hummus Masabacha, Shuk Salad, and Arayes. The Hummus Masabacha was creamy and rich with a hint of tang, it was topped with chickpeas, herbs, eggs and a drizzle of olive oil that elevated the flavor. It paired perfectly with the fresh pita. The Shuk Salad with Chicken breast was fresh, vibrant and full of color. The Arayes, which were pita pockets stuffed with spiced meat and grilled to crispy perfection, were fantastic. We love love the eggplant, favorite dish by far and unique. We have probably tried 80% of the menu and havent had a bad dish. Favorites include the eggplant, arayes & hummus as apps, and main meals are shipud and branzino. We have brought several people here and everyone has loved it. The ambiance is so nice and something special - beautiful outdoor zen space with gardens where you dont feel like you are right on the street. Drinks are great too. highly recommend this place. Nua is a little gem of a restaurant located on the edge of the Beverly Hills triangle, and is attached to the Crescent Hotel. The atmosphere is very charming and whimsical, with modern art prints on the walls, chandeliers, plush velvet chairs and sofas, a fireplace, and a reflective ceiling. There is also a large outdoor dining area, and a separate bar area. The menu is on the small side but is fairly reasonably priced given the location. There is something for everyone from fish to beef to vegetarian. We shared 3 dishes: the cauliflower florets which were delicious, and the charred eggplant and the Shipud which is a skewer of chicken thighs. The latter two dishes we didn't care for. The eggplant is served cold and is covered in a sweet date syrup which overwhelms the flavor of the eggplant. The craft cocktails were fantastic. The bartender was very accommodating in making them less sweet to serve our taste. Overall, I would given Nua another try but would try some of the other dishes. read more

We were in the area and looking for a place with good food for lunch and found this place. It's inside a hotel. We enjoyed everything about it. We were happy to find 1hr street parking. There's also valet and free a 2hrs at the public parking garage 2 blocks away. For lunch, we ordered off the brunch menu, which is different than dinner time, but still really good. The star of the meal was the Israeli bagel. I'm not sure who the pastry chef is, but they are very talented. I may have to go back just for another bagel. The outside was perfectly firm with toasted sesame seeds. The inside was the lightest bread I've ever had. I was very happy it was the size of a loaf pan and not a typical New York bagel. The bagel came as a side with the Shakshuka. We also ordered the Borekas Sabih, a sandwich on a pastry. The flavor and texture combination was different than I have had, but it worked. The patio was closed off to a private party, which was a photo shoot for a model management company. Fine, we ate inside which was lovely, however,, the model shoot took it upon themselves, to move its way inside to the table next to us as well, basically shooting on the patio and inside. So photographer giving instructions, the girls doing all their poses, right next to our table, talking about the photos and the results. I think it would've been nice and respectful, if management of the restaurant, respected the patrons inside who are trying to eat and converse, since the outside was reserved for that photo shoot and party. If management wanted to reserve the whole restaurant for that photo shoot, then maybe that should've been considered. read more

Had a lovely dinner here on a Saturday night with friends! Our waitress was nice and extremely helpful as we decided between dishes. She encouraged us to share and was very affirming of what we decided to order - everything was absolutely delicious and very easy to share! The patio seating was nice with ample heaters that staff were adjusting by request. However, as we were wrapping up and getting ready to pay, it began to drizzle. Staff were opening the umbrellas and helping tables relocate inside, but no one checked on our table where we were getting drizzled on! Decided to try it based on searching Yelp while in the area. Another hit, thank you Yelp! I was alone and I like to eat dinner early so I showed up around 5 p.m. and quickly got a table for one outside. A warm summer evening and I had the whole place to myself. My server (Alexander) greeted me promptly and answered all my questions. He was perfectly attentive throughout my meal and I enjoyed chatting with him. I had the hummus machabacha and the Shipud. Hummus: I have had a lot of very good hummus in my day and this is right up there. I have never seen a hard boiled egg in it but this really works. The tahini, olive oil, lemon and cumin were great. The pita bread is fresh made and came out piping hot. The Shipud is a unique spin on a classic chicken skewer dish. They go with a tortilla of all things with a few veggies and tahini sauces. The chicken is marinated, grilled and seasoned perfectly. Pro tip: order a side of Zhoug, which is spicy cilantro sauce. It pairs perfectly with this dish and if you like some heat it is awesome. I was too full to even think about dessert but I think this place has very reasonable prices, has a charming atmosphere and the food is fantastic. read more

The Charred Eggplant caught my eye and I liked that it was served with pita. I wasn't expecting this dish to be cold. It is definitely on the sweet side too. Very unique dish, but I think I liked the pita more than the eggplant LOL For drinks, I tried the Graham's 10 yr Tawny Porto and honestly, I wasn't a fan. We ordered a bunch of food to share family style: Jerusalem Bagel: 10/10 - came out hot and the bread was so fluffy Cauliflower: 9/10 - Love cauliflower, thought it was really great and could have eaten more. For people who eat kosher food, it has been impossible to find any place that is open on a Friday afternoon or evening or on Saturday. This is because the Jewish sabbath falls on those times and it's either the Sabbath itself, when restaurants cannot be open, or it is the preparation time for it on Friday afternoons. it is always been many peoples dream to have any kosher restaurant, let alone one that is fantastic, with great food and great ambience, that people could eat at and eat anything on the menu, regardless of the day. When I heard about this restaurant, I was in disbelief. But showing up, it became clear that this place really was a fantasy. In the positive way. Excellent service, beautiful location with a gorgeous outdoor patio. That is very inviting, incredible location, right in the Golden triangle of Beverly Hills, And the perfect romantic spot. More importantly, the food was exceptional. The appetizers were massive and sufficient for three or four people apiece. And I am very glad that we shared the ribeye steak because frankly, that was enough for three people. It was well over a pound with a ton of fries and grilled onions. Very pleased. We were in town for the Beverly Hills Art Show and decided to try Nua since it was nearby and had outdoor seating and a menu that appealed to our very particular child. They were hopping busy when we arrived. Initially the hostess said we could get a patio table if we waited 15-20 minutes, then she rearranged the seating for another reservation and gave us the last small table on the patio almost immediately. Our server was kind but incredibly busy, so we waited a while to order, a long time to get water, and an even longer time for our food. When it finally arrived, it was only my husband's and child's orders, and the hostess regretfully informed me that they had run out of the dish I wanted. To make up for that, however, she said they would comp another entree for me and have it cooked immediately and they would also comp dessert. That more than made up for the disappointment, IMO - I have so much respect for restaurants that can handle their mistakes with such grace. I ordered the avocado toast with salmon and it indeed arrived quickly and was delicious. The challah bread was very light and easy to eat with a fork and knife. The avocado was high quality and I loved the radishes and the smoked salmon, which didn't have that fishy quality it does at some places. The salad that accompanied it was also tasty with perfectly ripe strawberry pieces. Child loved her Israeli breakfast - the Jerusalem bagel was much lighter than a typical bagel, and it was delicious eaten with the hummus. The eggs were also outstanding - nice and fluffy. Husband was happy with his chicken schnitzel sandwich as well. The desserts were outstanding, and here is where I am actually happy that they didn't have what I wanted and comped some desserts for us because I never would have ordered them otherwise, and they were worth a trip in and of themselves. The saffron pistachio ice cream tasted exactly like the ingredients and was cold and sweet but not too sweet. The halva cake was like nothing that I've ever had before - it was light and barely sweet at all (I think the server said the only sugar came from the dates that went into making it). And the berries that came with it were high quality as well. We are definitely adding Nua to our must repeat list. I came to Nua a few weeks ago for dinner on a Monday night. It was hidden in a small hotel and had a very cute ambiance. Even for a Monday, seemed a little empty and quiet for LA. I came here because my brother was visiting and really wanted an Israeli restaurant. I'm giving it 4 stars because although the food was good, I can't really say it was super Israeli - more like American with some Israeli fusion. As a child of an Israeli immigrant, when I say I want Israeli - I mean everything - food, ambiance, music, kinda rude service - but you could honestly come to Nua and not realize it has any connection to Israeli food/culture aside from some of the dishes - and only if you really knew your stuff. The arayes were the star of the show and I'd definitely recommend them. Everything else was good, but not stand out good. For a great Israeli ambiance, I'd go to the chef's other restaurant, Carmel! read more

Went to Nua for dinner last night. Fist time and I want to go back ASAP. It was an incredible experience! The eggplant was cooked to perfection. I have never that it prepared this way. The pita was simply amazing--soft, warm, puffy and perfect for dipping. The hummus had a lot of flavor and textures. It was creamy and flavorful, and the Shuk Salad was a fresh and vibrant complement to the meal. Our waiter was outstanding, providing impeccable service and even bringing us a different sauce to try, which was unbelievably good. Although I wish I remembered his name, his attentiveness and friendliness made our meal even more enjoyable. For dessert, we had the Havali with date syrup drizzle and fruit, which was the perfect light and sweet treat to end our meal. The location is fantastic, giving off the vibe of a charming cafe in Israel, and loved dining al fresco, enjoying the beautiful atmosphere. Sorry I didn't take photos. I was so into the meal....
