I was craving shakshuka for my entire time in Los Angeles and orange county in September. Finally on my last day, I found Nua, only 7 minutes from the hotel I was staying at. The shakshuka is fabulous, with the right amount of middle eastern spices and it comes with a Jerusalem bagel. The service was exceptional, everything came out promptly. Staff are great. Bathrooms are also clean. It's Beverly Hills so parking could be a challenge, however there are parking garages everywhere. If you park on the side streets, pay attention to street signs. read more

We went into NUA at 5pm. The restaurant was empty , maybe only a couple of tables of 2 in the restaurant total. My kids asked to sit in the completely empty patio, however the general manager didn't allow it because she claimed an entire restaurant would be filled with reservations immediately. When my 3 young children were crying asking why we weren't allowed and i told them the truth that the lady wouldn't allow it, she was offended and told us we can't be served and kicked us out, even though i wasn't even talking to her, and was restating what she said. This is not the first experience I've had with this "general manager" being rude, and know others as well. It's a shame that such a good restaurant can have such bad service. She turned away a table for a party of 5 when the restaurant was completely empty, and made 3 young kids cry, and yelled at their parents in front of them. Truly unfortunate. read more

Nice ambience in a small courtyard at Crescent Hotel. Easy to miss. I had parked in front and missed the entrance because the sign was almost hidden by shrubs. I walked around the corner and asked some passersby who told me to go back up the block and up the ramp. Cool photographs and artwork of celebrities and nudes on the wall around the restrooms and near the entrance. Food was delicious. My friend liked her $26 Butcher's cut prime beef burger and plentiful fries. I had the Schud salad with salmon. I was disappointed this extra piece of salmon for an extra $8 was smaller than the picture. The salad alone was $17, total $25. For dessert, we shared the $12 Halva mousse shaped like a cake. I liked that it wasn't too sweet. Our reservation was at 1 and I had expected to have the salmon entree. It was a little tricky to find since it's located inside a hotel but once we found it, the interior is very classy and outside was really beautiful with plants and wooden elements. My husband and I came to Nua on a Thursday night for dinner with his colleague. We picked Nua due to its location in Beverly Hills, and due to reservation availability last minute. While they generally do have outdoor dining available, it rained that evening so we were forced inside, and were lucky that they had table space to accommodate us. They did not check our vaccine cards even though we were dining inside. Several of the hostesses were also not wearing masks although LA County had an indoor mask mandate at the time. Our server was outgoing and efficient. He brought us menus and water immediately and was very attentive. For appetizers, we started with the Jerusalem bagel and the falafel. Both were okay but nothing amazing. The food was served quickly after ordering. My fish stew consisted of white fish cooked in a tomato sauce. The portion size was good and the dish was fine. The pita bread and the Jerusalem bagel were exquisite as well- so fresh and delicious. I also had the shakshuka with merguez sausage- the sausage was a nice addition, it tasted good, but similar to others I've had. The other unusual dish is their signature charred eggplant- it is sweeter than other eggplant dishes I've had because it had date syrup in it, but I really enjoyed it. 2.5 stars Seems like they are understaffed or something. I was here for a work dinner last night and there were a couple of instances where almost 30min went by without our server coming to our table. He was polite but seemed overwhelmed, as we also ordered a couple of items only to be told they had run out. I could tell there were lots of issues with the heating lamps outside as well, which appeared to keep running out of gas. Some of the dishes were lackluster as well - we ordered the rib eye (most expensive dish on the menu) which we requested to be cooked at "medium" but received it burnt and bone dry. Fortunately we were comped for this item, but it may as well have been a steak from Sizzler. The Shuk salad came highly recommended as an app, but amounted to nothing more than arugula, lemon juice and olive oil with a small amount of diced veggies - this could be easily made at home. We all found that the apps were better than the mains. The restaurant has a lot of potential, but feels more like a hotel restaurant at this point. read more
