Under section 1748.1 it's illegal at a federal level to charge a patron for using their debit card. There's an exception in the state of California due to the Italian colors lawsuit. However, you have to post what you will be charging for using a card. I get times are hard especially for a small businesses owner. Being deceitful and stealing from your customers is not a great business move. Had I not asked to pay cash, I would have never known and I'm sure 99% of the people coming here aren't aware either. So here's your warning! A fee of roughly 3-4% is being added to your bill for paying with your card.
