***They are open during SIP!!*** I've been going to this place since 2013. They have very comfortable setting (recliner, relaxing music and halogen heater at your feet) and the treatment time is about 45 mins to 1 hour (depending on your condition that day). Booking is very easy with the app and price is very reasonable (recommend to buy a package plan). During SIP, they have 4 people max policy and each recliners are more than 6 feet apart. They sanitize the recliner after each patient. I've seen Faye for my fertility treatment. She is very knowledgeable and always welcome you with smile. Acupuncture helped me, not only to have my son but also overall health. When I got BFP for the first time on the last embryo transfer, the blood test was lower side so Faye boosted my blood flow to my uterus and also took me to a nearby Chinese medicine pharmacy and helped me to get customized medicine. All of the help resulted in my 5yo healthy boy. I'm currently in my 2nd fertility treatment journey and couldn't think of doing it without going back to Numo. MY CONDITION: Allergies have been completely severe this year, very itchy eyes (one time a few weeks ago, the eyeball swell up and I thought I was going to lose it), runny nose that is copious and clear worst with dust/pollen, sneezing in the form of 2-3 every few hours. The night before, felt like coming down with a cold, throat started feel sore when swallowing, felt like had a low grade fever and knew home remedies (ginger, garlic, lemon, natural loquat cough syrup) would not be enough, came in to Numo Acupuncture confident anyone could help treat my symptoms. MY EXPERIENCE: Mrs Faye Luong examed me, took my pulse, did a (in TCM terms a complete HPI!) history present illness and arrived at a diagnosis of Wind-heat with congestion and excess (洩氣）unproductive qi in the Lungs and Stomach. We started with 10 mins of cupping, which was warm and relaxing in a privacy partition part of the clinic. The cupping was to break up any congestion in the lungs. Then we transferred to a lazy-boy recliner where we commenced the needling in the arms and legs. She also add two needles in the center midline of the top of my head near the front hairline. Her needling is SUPERB, she obtains the qi sensation in each needle but without excess discomfort. I am also an acupuncturist and after receiving acupuncture from her, is very confident in her needling skills. She is busy back to back patient but keeps her time managed. There was a little wait time for me but only because she is so kind and sweet to squeeze me in her already overbooked schedule, so priority was placed on her original clients. Cannot dock stars because I was intruding in an already overbooked schedule. RESULTS: Immediately after the treatment, chest pain in the lungs and throat reduced about 60%. Nose felt dry, no runny nose. No sneezing all day. Coughing was reduced about 70% but when it got cold was the only time I coughed. However, it is AMAZING that I did not mention the past 3 weeks after an episode of excess alcohol (wine) drinking, I disrupted my stomach and would frequently have dry heaves, like morning sickness. It has improved about 90% by the time I saw Faye but I did not mention it. She was still able to pick it up by feeling my pulse alone. After the treatment, and lunch at home, I had a rush of diarrhea, and was urgent, the type where if I was on the freeway, it would soil my pants. The stool was DARK, rancid smelling, and oily/rotten. I believe Faye's treatment expelled these from my digestive tract... I feel so much lighter and had increased appetite throughout the day. I had another less urgent and less volume of loose stools in the evening after dinner, which again was rancid and oily, but I can tell everything was improving. I have come here twice to get induction for delivery as i was past my due date by a week and i did not want to get induced at the hospital. I was told i will need a minimum of 3 sittings for better results but at both times i delivered after my first visit. I do not remember the first visit, but on my second Melanie treated me. thank god i found FAYE... Guillermo provided an absolutely amazing acupuncture treatment to me yesterday. I went in with a full blown sinus cold/sore throat, and light headedness. At the beginning of the appointment, he asked me which side of my throat hurt more... (i never really thought about it until he asked)... it was definitely the left. Moral of the story is that upon leaving my appointment, I consciously tried to see what side hurt more again- and the pain had completely dissipated. My sinuses are finally draining as well. Only one day later, and I am 75% better than when I walked in. As for my light headedness, I was able to return to my fitness class today without having to quit half way through (big progress from last week). From my first experience with Paul Wang to my fairly regular appointments with Dat On, Living Room Acupuncture is the primary place I go for health and well being. While they don't intend to be a replacement for Kaiser or a doctor at a hospital, I would much rather use my "co-pay" at Living Room Acupuncture instead because I know it will help me recover from any ailment naturally and on my body's terms. Where's the 6th star? Very rarely, I feel, that you'll meet that right eastern med doc that has the perfect balance :). Faye does take her time to listen to my concerns and addresses them. I know she is truly a professional at her craft because her explanations or diagnosis are always consistent time after time. She's honest but with a good sense of humor. I chose to go to Faye for various reasons, the big one is stress and that in turn affected my hormones. Well, surprisingly enough, she healed my system so well that, I was pregnant and stayed pregnant. I was also on herbal medicine which she monitored very carefully on me. My parents in law just went to her for chronic pain and they came out of the experience so comforted, most of all, without pain. They both raved about her service, knowledge, and her ability to give them their good emotional state back. They're going back to see her for sure. Unlike a lot of doctors I meet, Faye has amazing 'bedside manners'. As a person, she has a wholesome outlook on life and has actually donated to our organization to help build a library in an under privilege part of the world. My most memorable statement of hers is, "I just want to help people." And it really is true - she's not about charging $100+ per session because she believes everyone should have access to care. A personal story and testimonial....I highly recommend Living Room Acupuncture. I am currently getting treatments for an ankle injury that I am suffering from now. I love the community setting its comfortable, spacious, quiet, clean and affordable. On average Acupuncture treatments are $75 a session but not at Living Room average price is between $20 - $40 a session. Its a sliding scale, you basically pay what you can they just want to make sure that you get treatment. Now my review.... I became sick with Bacterial Meningitis in 2006, if it were not for Doreen being there, I would have died. This is was before I got into internet marketing, I was traveling with Safeway Stores doing remodels and resets for all their California and Nevada stores. Anyways, I became sick around 9pm at night and by early morning hours, I did not know who I was and was just a couple hours from dying. Doreen, woke up to me acting a fool, she was so mad that she slapped me. When she got no response she knew something was wrong...lol. I do not want to get into great detail here but basically, I left the hospital 2 weeks later with facial paralysis. My whole left side of my face was unable to move, I could not smile or blink my eye. That's when I went to see Faye, she had started an aggressive Acupuncture treatment that lasted 2 weeks. As anyone can imagine, I was self-conscious and unable to look at people directly and lets not mention the fact that I could not blink my eye it was terrible. I have to dissent from the majority of reviewers on the Living Room. I am a frequent acupuncture & chiro patient. Overall I did not have a good experience at the living room. Pros: Very friendly staff Flexible hours - open weekends including Sunday Flex pay system - they offer a range for their service, and you pay what you can within this range. Unique and customer-focused Good facilities, comfortable equipment, clean Cons: The treatment was not only ineffective, it made things worse. I have been to other acupuncturists who have effectively treated a range of maladies. However, the others were not open on a Sunday when I had a sore lower back, so I gave the living room a try. After a few painful needles inserted, twisted and then having me bend over and ask "better?", each to no avail, they sat me in a chair and proceeded to insert needles that made my ears ache, my arms numb and hand sore for a week afterwards. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Also, I woke up the next morning with a lower back even worse than the day I went to the living room, plus a sore wrist (carpal-tunnel like symptoms) that has now persisted for a week. I really liked the provider, friendly, flexile, available - but it seems the treatment has made things worse for me, so I have to post a "patient beware" based on my own experience. read more

This is Faye Luong's new office (formerly of Acupuncture Ave). She is a very competent LAc, personable and professional. Scheduling appointments has always been easy and flexible. Ample parking and the new clinic is community based, making acupuncture more accessible to everyone by offering a sliding scale. *2 thumbs up* Her first appointments are always consultations. Then you come back on another day to get your first treatment. I have not tried any other providers, but I don't need to as Faye has been awesome. She also offers cupping, scraping, chinese herbs etc. Personally, I always feel better after each session so my experiences with acupuncture are positive because of Faye. Woke one Sunday morning with excruciating shoulder and upper back pain. After searching on Yelp for services in this area in the South Bay (where many say there are the most and best acupuncture services), happened across Living Room Acupuncture as one of the listings with the highest quantity and quality of listings. I was pleasantly surprised they were open on a Sunday, and given the pain I was feeling was so sharp (I could barely rotate my neck in any direction, nor push myself out of bed with my left arm) I decided I could not wait another day and needed to rush over to see if they could squeeze me into their schedule. When I arrived, a really patient receptionist told me that they were unfortunately already booked for the day. It was then that Faye (who I believe is may be one of the owners and lead therapists) warmly greeted me, shook my hand, and asked me how she might be able to help! I was actually quite surprised by here genuine level of care and concern, especially given she was simply just passing by the waiting area and clearly had many other patients who were waiting for her care. When I told her about my pain, she warmly told me to hold on a for a few minutes and that she would do what she could to squeeze me in to their schedule for the day. I was further pleasantly surprised at the thoughtfulness and professionalism of Faye's initial consult. In her office she then asked me very carefully about everything I was feeling, and asked me to perform some arm movements so she could get a sense of my range of motion. She then led me into this very airy and inviting room where there were many patients undergoing treatment for varying issues. I could tell that many there were regulars, and that they were very comfortable as they were receiving their treatment. There was a small area to the corner with a chiropractor bench where Faye then proceeded to politely and patiently tell me about some of things she was going to do, as well as the reasoning for doing so. Faye's skill as an acupuncturist is amazing. There was absolutely no pain, and from the speed and deftness of how she applied the acupuncture needles you could tell that she was extremely skilled and experienced. In addition to acupuncture, Faye also applied numerous pressure cups to the area of pain for several minutes, which she took the time to explain would help to detoxify the area. After the session was over, I was so happy to discover that the pain I was feeling was nearly completely gone! Importantly, Faye then patiently explained to me that in all likelihood my pain was on its way to going away due to the body's natural healing process; however, she also suggested that while not completely necessary, it may be worthwhile to consider one more treatment so that the healing could happen much faster. How refreshing it was to hear a therapist provide a post-consult offering recommendations for next steps, with or without further treatment as possibilities! For the level of service, knowledge, patience, skill, and follow-up advice and recommendations that Faye provided during my visit - without any doubt, I will be recommendind family and friends to this impressive, service-oriented clinic. It's a great place bcuz they are very friendly and the price accommodates people who are broke and who need quality health care & service. Overall, I recommend. The flip side is it can get noisy inside esp around after work hours, some clients are not aware of their voice volume. Also, sometimes if you're on time, you still wait 10-15 to get treated. Affordable Acupuncture. Excellent Service. Where do I start? Living Room Acupuncture is a true gem in a sea of acupuncture clinics in the Bay Area. My impression of Acupuncture in general is that: 1) I hate needles 2) acupuncture clinics are generally tiny, dusty, and smell of herbs 3) Is it really effective? I took my mother here as a last resort for her degenerative joint disease after her numerous cortisone injections and pain medicines became ineffective. The next step would be surgery and being in her mid seventies, she did not want that. The clinic is located in a business park and looks really small from the outside. When we walked in, everything I had presumed about acupuncture clinics was wrong. The place is very beautiful, thoughtfully decorated with a peaceful zen-like vibe. The front office was a bit narrow but the rooms were quite large. The first room is a family room where a patient can get a treatment and have their family room hang out in the comfortable recliners next to them. Other rooms include a massage room and my favorite is the massive dimly lit group acupuncture room. There seemed ti be about 50 acupuncture recliners with relaxing music. According to Faye, one of the owners of Living Room Acupuncture, patients do not feel as anxious about Acupuncture when they see others receiving treatment. The best and greatest thing about LRA is that it is actually Affordable! Treatments are on a Sliding scale between $20-$40 per session and you can stay as long as you like. Basically you pay what you can. If $20 is all you can afford then that is all you pay. They give you the utmost care in treating their patients regardless of what the person can afford. This is priceless! They do not ask you what your income is nor do they try to verify your income. They are not your local welfare or social security office. They are not government funded at all. Living Room Acupuncture is privately owned by two amazing, caring, and generous Acupuncturists that want to help the most people they can to relieve their ailments. My mother has already had 6 treatments and her pain has lessened. She is also taking the herbs she purchased at the clinic and feels much more energized and it also helps with her digestion. I have known Faye and Paul for many years. I rented a room from their first office in 2005. Their knowledge is amazing and their treatments helped me dramatically. Due to couple of miscarriages, my reproductive system was whacked up. I was having some kind of infection twice a month for 6 months. Working with Faye solved that and I have not had a break out of any infection since 2007. Faye also treated my then boyfriend 2 weeks straight and got his paralyzed face to function 100% after a meningitis attacked which hospitalized him for 12 days and caused short term memory loss. I never thought I'd be able to afford acupuncture. Hell, I don't even have health insurance. I've been seen by almost all of the staff here primarily for eczema flare ups and they are amazing. Cool and relaxing space. This past January I had a crazy painful allergic reaction (contact dermatitis) on my FACE. Of course, I went to Valley Care's express clinic since it was near my eyes and didn't want to risk damage to my eyeballs (thought it was shingles). Was prescribed antibiotic and a topical ointment, but no improvement after a few days. Four days of back to back acupuncture and the blisters were dried out scabbing and healing. I really believe if I hadn't gone to acupuncture, my recovery would have taken a LOT longer. Spent less on the acu sessions than I did on that hospital bill. Oy. I'm on a mission to re-assemble my "well-used" young body without having to visit a MD as a part of my daily mission to look better and better each year as I age. I've abused myself pretty badly and am in constant pain so I've taken up Bikram Yoga and decided to try acupuncture as well. The thought of having someone stick needles all over the place is pretty bothersome, not going to lie. Faye is incredibly compassionate and I felt surprisingly comfortable on my first visit. She looked over my laundry list of problems and decided to deal with the most pressing matters first. I was surprised at how the needles felt - because of the way she administers them, I hardly noticed most of the needles. And the ones that I did notice, stung slightly for a second and then the feeling disappeared. I was there for probably a little over an hour but I think next time I think I'll stay to take a nap. She took her time, explained what she was doing, and was nice and knowledgeable. I was so relaxed by the time I walked out that I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make it home! Even the next day, I felt overall much more relaxed and somewhat sleepy (but in a good way, not in an exhausted way!). The studio is quiet and clean. I love their philosophy of pay-what-you-can and it speaks volumes of their motivation as healers. The thing about Eastern medicine is that you have to want to be an active part of your own healing. So if you go in expecting someone else to solve your problems, you'll be out of luck. I haven't been to other acupuncture places (but I have been to other chiropractor and massage places) but I get the impression that this is a great place to go if you want to try out acupuncture. One of my health practitioners prescribed regular (2-3x/week) acupuncture as part of a treatment plan for a number of chronic issues I am dealing with, including autoimmune disease. With the price of acupuncture being out of the question at that rate alongside other medical costs, he suggested I look into community acupuncture. Received acupuncture from Victoria this weekend. She is sweet, knowledgeable and beautiful! I was impressed with the ease at which she performed the treatment. I have only ever received Japanese acupuncture, which is a shallower experience in needles. Vitoria made sure I was comfortable. Extra blankets and a heat lamp by my feet. Since the beginning of June 2019 I have been evaluated and treated by Faye Luong. I make efforts to schedule for a cupping and acupuncture sessions, back to back, for twice a week. This is great because I have noticed great improvements in my energy level, clarity in thinking, as well as ridding body aches. Since I teach high school students, volunteer in my community & have a very busy family life style, my stress level rises so high that my muscles tense and I cannot relax nor think as clear as I should. Sleeping getting the proper sleep and rest is a challenge. The treatment I receive helps get rid of toxins, allows oxygen to enter my brain, helps blood to circulate throughout my body as well as allow my entire body to relax in order for me to sleep the entire night without having sleep disruption. In turn I wake up with lots of energy and feel soooo rested; not tired nor grogui. This week I plan on trying their yoga class for posture, which I definitely need. I cannot wait! I have been going to LRA for over a year now and have had great results. My mom starting coming here first and she was the one who recommended it to me. I have been dealing with lower back pain, shoulder and neck pain along with other issues. I started seeing Guillermo on my second session because his schedule worked better with my work schedule. I continued scheduling my appointments with him because he is very knowledgeable and has tried to help me with all of my other issues as well. He makes me feel relaxed and works to make me feel better after each session. My body aches have become less since I've been coming to LRA. I have also been to see Catherine for massage therapy which Guillermo recommended for me. I'm happy that they offer both of these services at reasonable prices. I cannot say enough about this place. They helped me get my life back! This review is embarrassingly overdue. I starting going to acupuncture when I was under-employed and without health insurance. I had Occipital Neuralgia and subsequent shooting/stabbing pain on the top of my scalp and behind my eye on the right side. (Side note make sure you are sitting at your desk properly at work - I don't want you to suffer like I did!) The pain was excruciating and affecting every aspect of my life. I couldn't get comfortable enough to even sleep. My first clinician was Hobie. He has moved on but after several treatments completely healed my pain. Doctors recommend a nerve block but who wants to go without feeling their scalp?? I am now being treated by Guillermo and he is amazing. He is an incredibly skilled and knows exactly which areas to treat for pain. He also provides practical suggestions as to keep yourself healthy. Most of all I appreciate that he is a really good listener and so very funny! When i first started coming they had a sliding scale fee schedule but now they have fixed fees for treatment which are still considerably less than other places. If you are looking for excellent care at a reasonable price please make an appointment. If anyone I talk with has pain I immediately recommend them here. I am so happy I found this place! I live all the way in San Mateo but it's totally worth the drive because they are really good, and affordable too! You get just as good of a session here as you would at an expensive place. The only difference is that you are in a large non private room with other patients, instead of a small private room. The "living room" setting is vey pleasant. Lots of comfy recliners are scattered throughout the room, the lights are dim, they play soothing music, and it is quiet. (They do have two smaller rooms too.) I had excruciating back pain for two months straight and tried chiropractors and everything else I could think of, finally I went to see Faye and after one visit I was much improved and by my third visit I was %100 better! Faye is also a fertility specialist. I have also seen Hobie for my heel spurs and plantar fasciitis. The plantar fasciitis is hardly there anymore and the heel spurs are completely gone! Amazing! And Paul treated me for stiffness in my hands (I think I may be getting arthritis.) And they have felt great ever since! Offering this much needed treatment to people at affordable prices says a lot about how much they believe in helping people. I will totally continue to see them for all my body quirks! I have been a client of Numo Acupuncture for over 4 years and I cannot stress how much the entire staff here has helped me, my family and friends out since. If you're a skeptic, what's the worst that can happen from trying it? Nothing, you'll feel the same. But if you never give yourself the chance to try it and remain a skeptic from afar without ever experiencing it, you can't say that it can't help you. I have health insurance through Kaiser from my work but I never bother going there. Why pay the copay and go visit someone who gives me 5 mins of their time and not be able to give me answers or provide effective treatment because they're just prescribing meds? I'd rather go see people who know me, care about me and actually make a difference in my health. Get some acupuncture in your life from Numo; you won't regret it. I was having knee issues from too many high impact activities and was referred to Numo by a friend. I was very pleased how efficient the experiences had been. I had 3 visits so far with Faye, did cupping and acupuncture twice and acupuncture only the third time. It improved by 50% after first visit and now its 80% better. The rest will probably just need time. Definitely recommend and will be back for maintenance in future. Reason for the 4 stars is because I had an appointment around lunch time once and it was very busy and crowded in the large room in the back. Each practitioner was juggling with multiple clients, difficult to focus and have their attention. Avoid the lunch crowd if you can. read more
