I had acrylic nails taken off at this location a few days ago. This was my first time trying acrylics so I wanted them taken off professionaly. I had hoped it would be safer and more painless than doing it myself at home. The lady that helped me pryed them off and did not use nail remover or hot water to soften them first. It was so painful, I felt like I was being tortured. I later learned that although this method is unfortunately common, it is also illegal because it is dangerous. The tip of my nail was torn off on one finger exposing the nail bed and causing it to bleed. The lady politely apologized but still tried to use a nail file on the injury. Not to mention how painful this would have been, it would also be unsanitary. She poured liquid on the bleeding area before I could say anything. I'm guessing it was rubbing alcohol but she was unable to tell me. I have a few allergies so this experience made me very nervous. This was the only service I've had done at this location. They may be very good at other things but if they are willing to cause unnecessary pain to save a little time, what other corners are they willing to cut at the customers expense? Please be cautious when visiting this business. read more

Worst nail place I have been to. Negative stars. I went to get my acrylics taken off. Lucy tried to yank them off with clippers instead of putting them in solution. I told her it was painful but she still kept yanking. Pulled my nail off the nail bed along with the acrylic. It started bleeding. Attached is the picture after it was washed. She tried to go back to the nail and work on it more and I had to stop her. It may get infected and I may have to incur medical expenses for this. read more

I came here after reading great reviews on here. Hmm... Im disappointed to see the brand "Gellish" products ( love CND gels way better) but I got my nails done anyways. The lady who did my nails did not seem experienced at all at simple things, such as polish my nail without having to get on my skin over and over please...wtf? Took her forever too to just clean around my nails. That was annoying. Service was good and friendly but I dont think I will return. I need CND polish--- huge difference in quality! read more

I wanted to try a new nail place in SCV. My niece and a few friends raved about this place, so I decided to give it a try. I called to see if they were available for 2 and they said to come on in. I asked for prices over the phone, the gentleman said 20 for gel, 20 for pedi, and 23 for kids, which I thought was really reasonable. When I arrived, I was okay with the unkempt salon, but was disappointed in the nail color selection. I may be biased, but I do love OPI and 2nd choice is Essie. They did not carry any OPI colors and a few Essie's. The rest were the less expensive brands. The technician who did my nails was very thorough and spent a lot of time with me, which I was appreciative. The gel color on my thumb faded for some reason (maybe because it wasn't OPI :)), but nonetheless the technician fixed it. The whale spa chairs were excellent. My nail colors did come out nice at the end, but when I went to pay, the lady charged me $32 for my gel manicure. She said only the gel was $20 and with manicure it is an extra $12. I was a little disappointed as I could've spent that same cost at one of my favorite nail salons with the brand of colors I enjoy. read more

I have been going to place for so long now. I first started bc they were the only ones who did really wide and thick pink and whites the way I like it. Over time my mood changed and now only get reg acryllics with gel, but they still do the best job. My nails never lift and always leave happy. def recoommend steve or Linda they are the best! Received a gift card for this place, but won't be back! There's a sign posted that if you are more than 5 minutes late, to please give them a courtesy call or you will be considered a no show. I was recommended here. So I took myself and a couple others and we walked in did not receive a greeting and we were looked at like zombies. One of our appts were not documented so one of us did not get serviced and the guy Tony who made the appts over the phone did not bother to apologize. The only apologetic person was Tina. She was very sweet. And the guy and girl that sits at the front were acting like their Ish don't stink. I was not expecting this type of experience for this type of business. People really need to get a grip on life especially with all the things that are on right now. JUST HUMBLE YOURSELVES HERE!!! read more

Just a quick review. Had acrylics done with Steve today and this was my first time getting them ever. Steve does a good job although I cannot really compare to any other experience. He was able to see me the same day I enquired. Nails look pretty good. The only negative I would say is I felt he rushes through his clients. Once I got there, he asked his client he was working on to move to the side and then kept switching us to complete us both, which I felt was not good. The other manicurist, Linda, who was next to him, spent time with her one client, while Steve managed to squeeze in 3 of us. I did not like that. read more

I never write yelp reviews but I felt compelled to due to the job they did on my nails and my mothers nails. We called and we able to get in right away which we were very pleased with since everyone else was booked on the day we wanted to go. My gels began to peel the next day, my daughters polish came off the same day and my mom got a full set and they were not put on straight. Very disappointing. We will not be going back. read more

I took a friend here for pedicures and was very impressed! We came early for our appointment, but we were shown right in and they started on us right away. They pampered our feet for an hour (yes, an hour!) and massaged my calves twice. The callous remover worked wonders on my dry, cracked feet. I was able to choose a design for the polish from dozens available. The flowers we chose looked great. All this for only $34 each! The staff was friendly and everything was sanitary. NY Nails Spa is one of the best places in SCV. It's one of the few luxuries I've been able to keep. Everyone there is amazing and courteous. Their work and the atmosphere they maintain keep me coming back. I take my daughter in with me to get her nails done sometimes and they are just as good on her too. The best thing is that they aren't wasting time chattering away and not paying attention to you. I've been to so many other places where all they do is chatter away and giggle and not pay attention to the fact that they've just cut my nail too short. When this Salon first opened it was a nice clean, enjoyable salon with great service. Over the years I have noticed it has become very run down. I took two guests there about 4 months ago. I was embarrassed at the condition of the salon. Furniture and spa chairs are run down, everything covered in dust. Manicurest have become sloppy in their work. I went again a couple weeks ago...still same problems exist! I would not consider going again until it is cleaned up like it was when it first opened. This is a shame because the owners and staff are extremely nice and they have done a very good job in the past. read more

I've gone to NY nails for about a year now and I do love the design and how long the nails hold up, but unfortunately the salon is filthy it needs a remodel so bad they also need to hire a cleaning crew. The first couple times I came here, I loved it. I had a really great technician who would give me a really good shoulder rub and foot massage with my mani/pedi. The last 2 times I've been here, I've had really lazy technicians who talk to each other the entire time. There are spots on my nails (I do gel) that aren't even painted and the nails chip within 7 days. There is no massage, not even for 30 seconds, with the mani/pedi. In fact, sometimes there's not even lotion. I used to go to NYC once a month for work and I would always get my nails done while there. Trust me-this place wouldn't survive on the east coast, so it's funny they call themselves NY Nails Spa. I've never had a pedicure where a thorough massage wasn't included. read more

I've been going to Steve for the past 4 years. I have never not loved my nails, every time I adore them. He is worth every mile, every penny, and every minute. I live in SFV so I have tried to find someone even slightly as good as him, epic fail every time. I work in the beauty industry as a hairdresser so maybe that's why I understand how valuable pre-booking and being patient is. 1 person can throw off your entire day. I am saddened by some of the awful reviews I have read on here. These people are amazing and true artists. I'm truly sorry you have felt that way while you visited. I wanted a manicure, my friend wanted a pedi, so we checked Yelp, and went in. I actually double checked to see that we ended up in the same place we found on Yelp- yes, we were in the right place! The place was filthy! Dust and nail clippings all over the place. My friends pedi was really short and not a great paint job. I had a gel mani and it was terrible. First of all, she cut me on 3 fingers when trimming my cuticles, so I was bleeding. Not good. Then she started applying the gel, and it ended up lumpy and really far away from my the base of the nail. So, even though I got the manicure yesterday, it looks 7-10 days old. Poor customer service. I was having a gel manicure and the manicurist left me to go do a brow wax. She had some other manicurist apply other layers. She didn't even explain, but got up and just left. This nail salon is absolutely amazing. When it comes to getting my nails done, I am one of the pickiest people ever. I like my nails done a very specific way and it has been very difficult for me to be able to pick a salon closer to home that could do this. The salon that I had been going to for the past 6 years was getting to be too much of a drive for me (30 minutes) and it was too pricey, so I tried out NY Nails Spa for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I had Tony do my nails and he is really experienced and good at what he does. He was able to replicate the exact style of nails that I had been getting at my other nail place. I also got Lucy to do my pedicure and she is one of the best pedicure people I've ever experienced. She never forgets a face and always gives me extra VIP service whenever I am there (probably because I tip her very well). She does amazing art work on your toes (best I've ever seen) and she gives amazing foot massages. The prices here are very reasonable and for me very cheap since my last salon was so overpriced. I am a very loyal customer if I find a place that I really like and it's safe to say that I will probably be coming here for many years to come. read more

I went to NY Nails based on the Yelp reviews. They were clean and friendly, but my gel manicure was only OK. This is only my second gel mani and my first one lasted 3 weeks and cost only $28 (with a french tip). So I expected the same with NY Nails. I called around and NY was $34 versus $40 at another place for a gel mani. The gal seemed unsure about the process, and unfortunately one nail came undone after only one week. In addition, it was an additional $5 for a french tip. Lots of chit chat in whatever language. Not sure I'll go back as it was just an average experience for the price. Will not go back! Wost service ever! I called today and made an appointment for 1130 for two pedicures. My mom and i get there 10 mins early and we don't get seated in our chairs till 1145! No sorry no nothing! As i am sitting in my chair i see there is a sign that says if you are going to be 5 mins late please give us a courtesy call. Well clearly it doesn't work both ways.... The lady working on my feet was very nice, but when it came to my leg massage... dang it was bad!! all she did was rub in lotion on my legs and then take it off. When it came to the foot massage same thing rubbed in lotion then took it off! HORRIBLE!! Right after she was done painting my nails she immediately took off out the napkin between my toes. Clearly they were still wet because she just got done and she messed up one of the nails. She goes to fix it by just dabbing some paint on it. Then puts on my shoes and messes up another one and blames it on me. Tell me to be careful when clearly she put on my shoes when they were WET!! When you finish painting someone toes let them dry before messing with them! There were 5 other chairs available around me for other people and my lady tells me i need to go sit somewhere else.... NOT happy with my service and don't expect to go back anytime soon! read more
