Really nice salon. Got a full set and pedi for $45, which is a really good price compared to other places. I got almond shaped nails, so the price of the set was a bit more. I believe the man that did my nails was named Tony. He made sure I was satisfied with everything and was fully accommodating. I'm not sure who the woman was that did my pedi, but she did an amazing job. She was super gentle and didn't mind the fact that I'm very ticklish. Overall, it's a good place. Then I was shuffled among employees and even when placed with my final manicurist, he was double booked with another client. I'm all for double booking but I expect to receive the same service as the person literally right next to me. He matched the picture I showed him and was satisfied. I've followed Steve for years on Instagram so I knew when I moved close by that I HAD to go to him. Scheduling an appointment over the phone was very easy and they were able to accommodate my friend and I to sit together for our pedicures. When we arrived we were seated promptly and our pedicures began. The salon is a little out-dated with older chairs (tears) and a little messy - that's the only reason I dropped them one star. I would have preferred a nicer atmosphere. Our pedicures were fantastic and I was able to start on my full set while still in the spa chair. When Steve was ready, I sat in his station and showed him my inspiration photo. My nails came out FANTASTIC. Seriously, the best nails I've ever had. He got the color and style perfect. Okay so I always have a hard time finding a new nail salon. Some are too expensive. Some are rude. And others just suck. So I did some research and found this place and they offered everything I was looking for. Gel polish and 3d nail art. I made an appointment thinking I was going to get this but no. Instead I was rushed though a fill and then passed off to the guy who does the nail art. Do not. I repeat DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH STEVE OR LINDA. they are the only two who do the special nail art you see in the pictures. I won't be going back. First of all they dont use liners for the pedicure tub which is pretty disgusting knowing that everyones feet gunk goes in there. Asked for designs on the toes wanted the same flower design on my hands but they only do designs on toes, go figure. I choose the toe color to match my hands which was an aqua, theyre done with toes, when it comes to my hands they don't have the color because it hasnt been shipped, maybe consider having more than one bottle at once. This happened after i choose 6 different colors they didnt have them. So color options are very limited. Tony is absolutely awesome! I went in to get my acrylics soaked off... with all that time to sit there and wait, I noticed that the patrons passing through all knew him and loved him. I got a full pink and white set done by him and explained exactly what I wanted.. not too thick and I wanted the nails to be "squoval" shaped and narrow. I have wide nail beds, so my nails tend to look really fat and wide if I just leave it to the nail technician without saying anything. Tony got it down perfectly. GO TO STEVE. I've had my nails done by Tina and I believe his name is Tony.. but Steve is by far the best. I moved here and went to several different salons before finding Steve, and I will not go anywhere else. I constantly get compliments on my nails. They never lift or crack, and he does them beautifully. I'll admit, the place isn't the prettiest to look at. I really think if they cleaned up the shop, they could easily be a top salon in area. It's dusty and rundown, but when it comes down to it, I've gone to the fancy-shmancy nail salons in the area and they were horrible. I like going in there and sitting quietly while Steve does my nails. I don't mind the mess. Alongside the mess, they also yell at each other a lot and many of them are distracted by their phones and other devices. Steve and his wife play games with their children on their tablets (their children being at home) which I don't personally mind, mostly because Steve excused himself and explained what he was doing. Again, cleaning up the place and being a bit more polite could really help draw in customers. The prices are very good as well. I pay about $30 for my fill. I was used to paying $50-$60 each time I had my nails done with my previous manicurist. Pleasant change! read more

Worst nail salon I've ever been to in my life!!! I'd give it a half star if I could. I specifically created this yelp account to complain. The woman who did my nails did not have attention to detail and when I asked her to fix something she had an attitude. She'd shake her head and say something in Vietnamese under her breath. I'm pretty sure she was talking crap about me to her fellow workers who'd be talking away! She was making it pretty obvious. (I probably shouldn't have tipped her) Overall, really bad service. The lady was really rough on shaving my nails. She didn't clean my cuticles and the sides of my nails were bleeding. Not to mention no hand massage! I really want to like this place! I'll say that first. Issue 1: I would have really liked to see the technician open a sealed package of sanitized tools in front of me. I'm pretty sure she put the tools in her little tool basket in the drawer while I was picking out my color, but how would I know that!? Issue 2: Hand cream that she used on me came from what appeared to be a community JAR that she has to dip her hand in for every customer. Yuck. Just use a darn squirt bottle! And 3: I have what appears to be tiny air bubbles on my nail polish. After doing some Googling, it looks like this happens because of old polish and shaking the bottle just before applying the polish. I went to NY Nails for an upcoming wedding which i was a Bridesmaid in. Normally I drive down to SFV and LOVE the nails i get from down there... good quality. But the wedding party was going here and I wanted to participate with them. First... It is $20 for a pedicure here (not the normal $15 or $16) .. so ok, whatever, i figured it would be a good one. WRONG. They didnt clean UNDER my toe nails (isnt that what you are supposed to do?), they scrubbed the bottom of my feet for less than 30 seconds (how does that get them clean???) AND the massage was hardly a massage. I dont expect much, I have been getting my nails done for years.. so I know the Massage isnt really a massage.. but this was like.. they put lotion on and that was that. no rubbing.. no pressure no nothing. So already i knew i wouldnt come back here just for that. So moving on to my acrylics. At first, I was impressed. They looked REALLY good. I just got plain pink and white, they are nice and thick like i like them and super square and Lynda was VERY meticulous about the shape and getting them all even,,.. so i thought "SCORE!" ... NOPE! It has been 1 week since I got my FULL Pink and white set from NY Nails and they are already lifting. They were actually lifting after 4 days but I couldnt write a review until today. I didn't get a design.. but I can say that Lynda is VERY talented with her designs.. and the shape of the nails are perfect as well as the thickness. But more than HALF of my nails are lifting.. a lot.. and they are brittle. Personally, I prefer quality... over anything So for $62 (including tip) i can say that I am MUCH less than satisfied. I wont be going back here - but I will be going back to EPIC nails in SFV. You may have a bit of a wait there.. but there is good reason for it. In Santa Clarita, I don't believe you will find any other place that will provide the services that NY Nail provides. Steve and Lynda have been doing my nails for years. I was initially referred here by a co-worker of mine back in 2008. You want glitter tips? you got it! You want gel? You got it! You want a gel pedi? You got it! You want hand painted themed holiday nails? You got it! Seen it on Pintrest and want it recreated? You got that too! There is NOTHING they cannot do here. Strongest word of advice....MAKE AN APPOINTMENT and not a day or two ahead...I'm talking at minimum a week. Lynda is always booked as well as Steve. It is worth every penny. I hate to be the first to post a non-5-star review but honestly this place was "fine"... it was "A-OK"... but hardly worthy of the 5-star raves it's been getting here. I'm a very laid-back, easy going, no-fuss customer who is not at all high maintenance. I just want a pain-free, hassle-free, professional-looking mani/pedi and chose NY Nails SOLELY based on the reviews. I was planning on making an appointment at The Painted Nail in Sherman Oaks but since I was going to be up in Valencia at my friend's house, I came to Yelp to find a fabulous nail salon nearby. The place is pretty much just like every other Asian Chop Shop in every other strip mall. When I called to make the appointment, the guy on the phone had such a thick accent I could hardly figure out what he was saying. When we agreed on a time, I asked who my appointment would be with and he said he didn't know, he'd figure it out. When I arrived, it was larger than I expected and they had a few customers but they were hardly what I'd call busy. I had a pedicure and manicure and asked for Gellish polish since I'd heard good things about it. The mani and pedi were done at the same time and neither girl spoke good enough English to effectively communicate about basic things like whether I wanted my nails cut down or filed, or the shape I wanted or if I wanted any designs. When I asked about whether or not the Gellish polish would chip, the girl absolutely did not understand the question, even when I repeated it three times. THAT is a problem! I wasn't trying to converse with her about things related to the automotive industry, I was asking a manicurist about whether the polish will chip and there's every reason to expect that she should understand me. As I said before, I'm very laid-back and easy-going but it always bothers me when they speak Vietnamese among themselves while working on customers. That is just rude and that's exactly what ALL of the technicians were doing while I was there. I did notice two girls who spoke rather good English and were speaking with their customers but all the rest were speaking Vietnamese amongst themselves. It's rude. It's good they use a new kit for each customer but the place itself was not all that clean or tidy. It just doesn't have an upscale or uber neat/clean appearance to it, though it probably could if they tried. As a previous reviewer mentioned - and I was grateful to read ahead of time - they do take credit cards but DO NOT allow you to put the tip on your card. Tips are cash only and I appreciate that a previous Yelper clued me in so a big THANK YOU to her! No real complaints about NY Nails but honestly I can't understand all the 5-star reviews. My experience wasn't worthy of it so I gave my rating based on my experience, not based on their "reputation". read more

When I first went to this place, I enjoyed it. The prices were decent. As I came back, I noticed the women who work the mani-pedi chairs are so rude. You go there to relax and treat yourself and they talk horribly about you even when you are getting the most expensive treatment and my nails ALWAYS chipped right away. Hard gel, for those who don't know, is very similar to acrylic (perhaps MORE sturdy). When I reviewed my experience it was primarily based on how they looked & how I was treated! I LOVE NY NAILS! I have lived in Santa Clarita my entire life and this is the best nail salon in the valley, by far. I've treid numerous nail salons, but nothing compares to the quality work done at NY Nails. A friend recommneded this salon to me in 2007 and I haven't gone to another salon since. I usually make appointments with Tony or Tina (both do an EXCELLENT job) with acrylics. All of the women who do pedicures are wonderful, as well. My favorite thing about the staff is their attention to detail. There work is virtually flawless and they strive to make each salon experience as comfortable and relaxing as possible. I'm so mad and disappointed because I've been coming here for a while... Hey, a guy need a manicure, too! Last time I came in, apparently some new girl got assigned to give me the manicure from hell. She first put a bit of lotion on my hands, then started to scrape away my cuticles with her own nails--gross. Then I asked, "Shouldn't my hands be in a bowl of hot water?" I'm a guy, not an idiot. Then the manager came over and said, "oh we don't do water bowls, only hot towels before we start." So, I gave him a look... then she stopped what she was doing, grabbed two hot towels and gave me a hand massage... mid manicure, while some nails were cut and others weren't. Okay. I have pretty bad cuticles and she didn't take any off. Her touch was so light that she wasn't doing anything and it took her 30 minutes to give me the damn manicure. The worst part of this all was that she took some buffing machine and went downtown on my middle finger nail, which now has a big dent in it. I'm pretty sure those are only for acrylic nails, no? I basically paid an over-priced $15 to get my nails fucked up. Mind you, another manicurist spent an additional 15 minutes trying to clean up her mess. Who hired this lady and who didn't train her? The next morning, my nails look like shit and now my "flip you off" middle fingernail has a big dent in it. Thanks. I will NEVER come back here again. NIGHTMARE. read more

Been going here on and off for about 2 years!! I am giving this place 1 star because of the way I was treated last time I went in. I normally go in maybe once a month for a mani/pedi.. In all honesty they do a good job.... I'd give them 4 stars for the way my mani/pedi looks when I leave the salon. I usually take my daughter with me when I go in the salon, she loves to get her nails painted..... and I always pay and tip extra for her as well. About 2 weeks ago I took her with me as I usually do, told the girl what I wanted and she said it would be about 5 minutes.... no problem they weren't too busy. I was deciding what color I wanted...... and I dropped the polish & it broke.... being very apologetic.... (I felt really bad), the owner walks over and says "that is why you shouldnt let young children touch things." I informed her that I was the one who dropped it.... but just got an attitude along with her talking amongst her employees in vietnamese...... I probably would have walked out but I decided since I felt awful for dropping the polish, Id stay and still left a decent tip. But you bet I will never go back there again. The employees are very nice, do a good job. Only thing that I think is rude is they answer their cell phones in the middle of working with clients. I feel the owner could have been a little more understanding. In this economy, people are cutting back on these extra luxuries..... the salon employees and owners should treat their clients with a little more customer service....... read more

Went in last week for a manicure with gel nail polish and pedicure and it only came out to $52. Not too shabby. I've avoided gel nail polish up to now because my most places only have very limited color selection (mostly pinks and reds), but this place had tons of choices, including glitter. My pedicure and manicure were good and didn't feel rushed. They women who did my nails were not very talkative, which I appreciate when I'm just trying to relax. I was thrilled that they took me as a walk in since I was just trying to kill time before I met up with friends. But I just wanted a simple french tip manicure. Not a lot to ask, right? Didn't ask me if I wanted my nails squared or round, I already had them squared & she started rounding them & I had to ask her not to. I was going to make it up to her & leave a generous tip for accommodating me. About a 5 second massage. Alright. I was on a time limit anyways. Don't really care. Others might though. Here's the best part. $20 for a manicure. Ok, I was pleased with how my nails came out, Not a big deal. Not the best job, But I was already improvising, little bubbles & not so even polish. Still ok at this point. It wasn't until later that night when the polish already started chipping off. I was so sad. It must have been some terrible top coat because my manicure was destroyed by day two. I wasn't doing anything that would've been rough on my nails either. Just visiting friends for the weekend. Didn't even have to work or clean. So here I am, day 4 & already have to go get my nails redone. This time I'll go to my place, where it's $12 & will actually last more then a day. I hope they enjoyed my generous tip because that will be the LAST time I ever go there. They should seriously consider buying better polish.
