As the store owner, Ashley knows her stuff! She knows her collection, what to expect from designers, dress considerations during the wedding, etc. The list goes on! The bridal shop is filled with both timeless classics as well as the latest trends and sought after designers. Ashley attends New York Bridal Fashion Week twice a year, so she is up to date on all the dress trends and keeps her collection fresh. I felt so comfortable having open conversations with her regarding what I like for a dress, what I don't like, and appreciated her honest feedback. I never felt pressured to make a certain decision or purchase. Ashley knows wedding dress shopping is a process and respected my opinions and personal timeline. Once I found the wedding dress of my dreams, I was so happy that alterations were also done in-house by the Nyanza team. When I started shopping at other salons, I was surprised that all of the ones I visited did not have their own alteration services and would've required me to find a trusted seamstress. The fact that my entire wedding dress experience was all with Nyanza was such a relief. My alterations were absolutely perfect. I am a very petite bride, but Veronica the seamstress was able to alter the dress as if it was custom made just for me. I had a vision to add lace sleeves to my dress and Veronica also created those from scratch and matched them to my veil. I can't thank Ashley and her team enough for the best experience. Don't know who is writing these positive experience reviews but I definitely didn't get that when I walked in and asked some questions. Shocked I was also talking to the "owner". You would think the owner of the store would be more welcoming and not snarky with her comments. I asked her a simple question about the mother of the bride dresses and she proceeded to tell me in a snarky way that I can't order through her. They are "designer" and that they are rare to get. Not the question I asked. But okay. I'm flattered that you have rare dresses that not everyone can buy? I kind of got the impression she didn't want to do business with me. I ended up saying okay then, thanks for the information and walked out. She didn't say ANYTHING after that and just sat there. Horrible customer service. I said yes to the most beautiful Vera Wang gown at Nyanza Bridal this past weekend and had an incredible experience with Rebecca. I used to be a bridal stylist at another bridal boutique here in Seattle but ended up driving past Nyanza and falling in love with my dress in the window... Booked an appointment to try it on (plus a few others) even though I planned to visit the bridal boutique I used to work at and then immediately wanted to cancel all my appointments because I had such a great experience. But, everyone including Rebecca encouraged me to sleep on it and I woke up the next morning and officially cancelled the other appointments and said yes! I knew we were going to have an amazing experience when the store dog greeted us at the door. The shop is so clean and the dresses are absolutely stunning. Although I did not end up purchasing my wedding dress here, I am so happy with the service and expertise that Ashley provided!!! I have spent 6 months visiting so many different boutiques in WA and Nyanza exceeded in all areas. Ashley shuts down the entire shop for my appointments (free of charge!!) and really gave her 1:1 undivided attention without ever making me feel rushed, or pressured to purchase. She really listened and asked all the right questions, she even suggested a dress that I would have never picked off the rack and it ended up fitting BEAUTIFULLY on my body. She really knows her stuff and is very very patient and kind. Her boutique and all it's gowns are gorgeous , and it was a nice cherry on top to always be greeted by her friendly dog :) she is very communicative and is quick to respond to emails- I will be recommending her for all the future brides I encounter!!! read more

If you are a future bride looking for a personal, enjoyable, and stress-free dress shopping experience with an expert, go to Nyanza! In the end, I did not end up getting my dress at Nyanza (all the dresses I tried were amazing, but I just happened to find 'the one' elsewhere). However, I felt compelled to leave a review here because of the amazing experience I had. I scheduled an appointment with Ashley about 5 months out from my upcoming wedding. This is typically a shorter timeline for finding a dress, so I was a bit nervous, but Ashley and her team were not phased at all. They worked within my budget, and provided me with way more possibilities than I thought I would have on what I thought was a pretty short timeline! Here are more details on what made my experience so great: 1. Ashley took notes and remembered all the details from our initial call. By the time I got into the appointment, it was just a matter of discussing my personal style and pulling dresses. Also, this may have been because of COVID, but appointments are done solo, so I was the only one in the store! I felt like a celebrity :) 2. The dress-pulling process was very organized. We went section-by-section and Ashley described each designer, what they are known for, and made sure to let me know which dresses would be in my budget and work for my timeline. If I happened to like one that fell out of budget/timeline constraints, she was knowledgeable about following up with similar alternatives, if there were any. She was not pushy at all, everything was very transparent and straightforward. 3. While trying on dresses, Ashley gave her expert opinion, took all the photos I wanted, and helped me narrow down my choices. I was shopping alone, so this was very helpful! After the appointment, Ashley sent a very detailed follow up email summarizing my top 3 choices and availability options. Also it goes without saying -- all of the dresses were absolutely gorgeous. I felt like such a princess getting to try on all these designer gowns for my wedding day -- what a dream. 5. While I ultimately ended up going with a dress elsewhere, I reached back out to Nyanza recently because I was considering a second look dress (it's a month out from my wedding, ha...). Ashley was so helpful and sent me 7 beautiful options she had off-the-rack, each with a detailed description and photos. I couldn't believe it! AND on top of that - when none of them were quite what I was looking for, Ashley went above and beyond and sent me links to other dresses available from online retailers that might fit my style (!!!) It was so nice, and I could not believe the kindness and level of customer service and care that she provided (now you see why I felt compelled to leave this review!) Overall, you really feel that Ashley and her team really care about you finding happiness as a bride. Planning a wedding during this time can sometime feel de-motivating. But working with Ashley has really made it much more enjoyable and I am grateful for that. Last note: I visited about 4-5 different boutiques while looking for a dress. Some were pushy, feigned surprise at my "short" timeline (as if pandemic brides need more anxiety....), tried to get me to fall in love with dresses out of my budget, or hasten a decision by offering a discount for same day purchase (LOL - huge red flag that that boutique really didn't understand this process). Anyone who knows brides knows that choosing a wedding dress is an extremely personal and important decision that should be respected, NOT rushed or taken advantage of (side note: if someone tries to do this to you, stand your ground! it's your decision at the end of the day). I've been to a number of bridal shops at this point (6 or 7), but Nyanza was the one that just felt right! The customer service is unparalleled. They kept track of what I was looking for and 8 months later they let me know they were getting in something I might be interested in and made sure I was able to get an appointment. Everyone I've interacted with there is kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and not at all pushy. This is the one place I went were I felt like what I wanted was heard and respected versus a gown was being pushed on me. Ashley and Sara were really helpful and clear that this is a big choice for me, and I should take my time and get it right (which was both super reassuring and not my experience elsewhere!). My entire experience was comfortable, relaxed, empowering, and exactly what I wanted it to be. Ashley has created a wonderful space for brides! Covid review: it's not easy shopping during covid, but Nyanza made it feel safe and easy. They are definitely taking good precautions. Only one appointment at a time, the sales associate wears a mask, there's hand sanitizer available all over the place, and you're not allowed to touch gowns until you try them on. I found about Nyanza Bridal as I was eyeing on Galia Lahav dresses and Nyanza is the exclusive retailer for their couture collection in the entire PNW. As a bride-to-be with a tight timeline, I was definitely overwhelmed when I started my dress hunting (especially when I didn't really know what exactly I was looking for ). Then everything changed after I received the first email from Ashley, the owner of Nyanza, and started to work with her on finding my dream dress. During the entire process, I was impressed with not only the knowledge Ashley has for the brands and dresses (not limited to those in her store!) but also her creativity to customize the dresses to meet your needs/specific body shape (I.e: adding straps off or on the shoulders). She's also very talented at helping me imagine what the final dress would look like when one dress was not available at store for try-on (in my case, she magically layered one dress of which the bottom part I really liked with the other one of which the top part I loved). On top of that, I really appreciate their patience when I have to FaceTime my family to help with decision-making, I love that my fiancé could play with their dog Delta and not get bored, and I also felt Ashley and her team are there to help me find my dream dress regardless if it's at the higher or lower end of my budget. I found the love of my life at Nyanza Bridal! And no I am not talking about the shop dog Delta (a literal angel) or my future husband! After trying most every bridal salon in the Seattle metro area and just feeling worn and tired about the process, I stumbled across Nyzanza after seeing them listed as a stockist for a designer I was looking at. Trust when I say NO ONE has the thoughtful curation that Nyanza has. Ashley seems to keep a very healthy and broad price range of every designer she carries as well. This makes me as a customer believe there is something for everyone here even if it is a more designer centric bridal salon. On this, I worked with Rebecca who was thoughtfully transparent about price when I gave her my preferred budget and made sure I wasn't going to accidentally fall in love with something outside of my budget. That is some truly wonderful customer service. Additionally the shop was quiet, organized, every dress could be viewed easily. These are all things that stand out after going to many other salons that felt crowded with both dresses and people making those experiences over stimulating and not focused. I remember every dress I tried on at Nyanza because I was fully present having the store completely to ourselves with zero distractions. The second time there was another party but our privacy was not compromised at all! Also after my first appointment, Rebecca followed up with a detailed email of my top picks. She included fabrication and shape details and even photos of the dress on model which can be an important oversight when dress shopping since the samples are typically clamped in the back. She included price and any details we specifically spoke about. Seriously what an upgrade compared to the dress name written on a business card that other shops sent me home with. Rebecca also was also so understanding to the fact that even though I was 99.9% sure I was going to buy "the one" that I needed to sleep on it. I mean it is a huge decision! And I felt zero pressure. So she scheduled me for another appointment a week later and when I went back I was even more excited to purchase it. I wouldn't have changed anything about the process, it was wonderful. This salon has just does it all RIGHT! Ashley is just so clearly an expert because anything we didn't love about a certain shop, she corrected in her business. Ashley is a dream to work with! From first walking in the store she makes you feel heard, comfortable and welcome. You're able to freely browse the dresses which many places don't allow you to do. I didn't know exactly what I wanted so I picked some dresses and based on my selections she picked some for me and we ultimately found the perfect dress. During the buying process, there was no buying pressure and she actually encouraged me to sleep on the decision which never happened at any other store I went to. Throughout the ordering process she always kept me in the loop and my dress arrived on time and it was absolutely perfect. I honestly can't say enough good things about my amazing experience being a Nyanza bride. Ashley, Sara and Julia were all so kind, considerate and vastly knowledgeable. The store is comfortable and just bursting with so many gorgeous things (and the most adorable friendly shop dog, Delta). Each gown is impeccably taken care of and in great condition. The work she did on my multi layer tulle bustle was nothing short of art. They even went so far as to source multiple options when I asked to add buttons to the closure of my dress. Ashley and Sara couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. We had the salon to ourselves during our appointment and it was such a relaxing, beautiful space to try on dresses! I am absolutely in love with Nyanza bridal and am soooo grateful for Ashley. I first came in about a month ago at the very beginning of my dress shopping journey and was so impressed with Ashley's knowledge of the gowns. My mom commented after we left how impressive it was that she knew every detail about the gowns in her shop. Her dresses are gorgeous and we had plenty of time and space to shop. I knew I was a Galia Lahav bride right away as I was drawn to the details, beading and unique designs of each dress. Ashley was so professional and helpful. I didn't buy a dress right then as I had another appointment immediately afterward. Ashley was never pushy and sent me all the information via email so that I could look at all the gowns, headpieces, and veils I had tried and see the prices with my family. Funnily enough, we ran into Ashley two days later at a restaurant. We stopped and chatted and it felt like fate seeing her. Now this is where the story gets crazy. I had known I had loved one of the Galia dresses I had tried but I was still interested in trying another popular designer that was at another boutique. I went to that appointment and got caught up in the excitement (and pressure from that stylist) and ended up saying yes there. I had immediate regrets. What came next is better saved for another review on a different page, but some shady things happened that prevented me from getting my deposit back before they sent in my dress to production. Somehow I had found myself in a situation I had hoped would never happen to me. After many tears my family and I were trying to figure out what to do. My mom suggested calling Ashley. We could tell she was so knowledgeable about the industry and she had the dress I truly wanted. I called her and she talked to me on the phone for about 20 minutes. She supported me, listened to me and gave me some solutions. It was so nice to have someone listen to my fears and walk me back from the ledge. After much thought and discussion, my family decided on buying the dress I truly loved and sorting out the dress from the other salon when that time came. I called Ashley again and she set up an appointment for me to come try on "the one". She was so welcoming once again and she had my dress ready for me. We had a full appointment just to bask in the feeling that I was indeed in my right dress and I felt so happy. I am so grateful that I had Ashley on my team and that she was so understanding. It never felt like a salesperson just saying what I wanted to hear. She gave me options on every side and I am so appreciative of that expertise. My family left our appointment yesterday with smiles and we all raved about how professional and incredible the experience is at Nyanza. Wedding planning during a pandemic has certainly been interesting but my dress shopping experience was taken above and beyond by going to Nyanza Bridal! Ashley and the team at Nyanza made it so I didn't feel like my experience was lesser because of the restrictions in place due to Covid, which was very important to me. The whole process of shopping at Nyanza was highly personalized and Ashley was really able to understand my style and the vision I was going for for the big day. Nyanza has an amazing selection and range of dresses that would fit any bride's style and needs. Ashley's knowledge and understanding of each dress and designer is astounding and makes the process of finding your dress so much easier! Their knowledge of the wedding industry in general is awesome to have available too. My experience at Nyanza bridal was unmatched by any other bridal shop I visited. While dress shopping for my wedding gown, I tried on over 80 gowns at over 10 different appointments... and at some point I nearly settled for a gown. However, at the last minute I reached out to Sarah for an appointment and I found myself completely in love with a gown. Nyanza Bridal was above and beyond accommodating, where other shops had declined me a second appointment to bring my future-MIL, Nyanza was completely gracious and understanding and welcomed the appointment. Moreover, when a designer had an additional unexpected fee for my gown, Nyanza bridal graciously offered to offset the fee, without me even asking. I also appreciate that they do their alteration appointments in-store, which gives the added bonus of not only a comfortable first-fitting but also your stylist will be there with you every step of the way. (As opposed to other shops, which as soon as you purchase a gown and it comes in, you are on your own!) If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! I was looking for an elegant, classic, yet modern gown... something I had been really struggling to find in Seattle's incredibly boho-heavy bridal market. Nyanza Bridal not only has beautiful gowns that match the above description from Anne Barge, Romona Keveza, and Galia Lahav to name a few, their customer service is top-notch. Ashley, the owner, and Sara, the stylist, were both incredibly kind, helpful, patient, and knowledgeable, and their passion for the bridal industry really shows. It's clear that they care about their brides and just want them to be happy--no pressure-y sales tactics here! Sara even took the time to take a bunch of videos of me in different gowns (both stills and walking) so I could show my mom who lives all the way on the East Coast. They were patient enough to pull some clever magic and put a second gown on me with a different skirt while I was wearing another dress with a neckline I liked to show me how the gown could look with a fuller skirt. They also had tons of great suggestions as far as alterations when I asked about things I could tweak... I'll be the first to admit I'm very particular and they were very helpful in that regard. I have not yet purchased a dress there, but will be going back later this month to look at a gown I loved with my mom when she's in town for the holidays (Ashley was even the one to encourage a first visit in advance of my mom coming in order for me to get an idea of what I liked... again, I really appreciated the no-pressure attitude!) Nyanza Bridal was by far my best wedding dress shopping experience to date... thanks Ashley and Sara! Go support a woman-owned and operated business! After a few bridal appointments without finding anything that was in the budget and that I loved, I walked by Nyanza Bridal to see the prettiest dress in the window! It was exactly what I was looking for and loved. Called the store the next day and the owner Ashley was so helpful in getting me in to try it on multiple times during Covid time. She was really supportive in the whole process and was NOT at all pushy. I was in a bit of a time crunch and my only option was to buy that exact dress and do alterations. The back of the dress was open and i wanted a covered back. They shop was able to get me the same material that my sleeves were made of from the designer and ship it to me within a week so I can start on alterations right away! Nyanza bridal has really high quality dresses in a variety of styles and also price ranges. So many beautiful dresses! I went to four other bridal boutiques in the Seattle/Kirkland area and Nyanza definitely had the best dresses, location, and customer service. The dress selection was very impressive - they had everything from very simple/clean designs to intricately detailed dresses with beading. They definitely have a more modern vibe in comparison to other places, which I liked. The interior of their bridal salon is so nicely decorated and spacious with a bunch of large windows, it was great to be able to see the dresses in natural lighting! My stylist Sara was super professional and helpful, as well as patient while we took photos of the dresses and asked questions. After trying on what felt like 100+ dresses in various stores around the Seattle area, I can confidently say visiting Nyanza was a completely elevated experience. Ashley (the owner) and Sara (an incredible stylist) are both unbelievably personable and helped me find the dress of my DREAMS. They were never once pushy (even encouraged me to go to my other appointments that weekend so I wouldn't wonder 'what if'), but made it clear they would be there for me 110% should I choose to go with the Nyanza dress.
