I got my nose pierced about a month ago and Sam did an amazing job. Last night, I accidently ripped it out after a shower and the hole closed overnight. I went back to NYCInk and told Sam what happened. Without a question, Sam sat me down reopened the hole and replaced the stud, free of charge. I expected to have to pay again but Sam was so understanding and just wanted to see me happy. Inaccurate review of moderate pricing ($$). I went in to see about getting my ear lobes pierced, not cartilage, and was told the cheapest gold earrings they had for piercing were $120 each (since I knew I would have to keep them in and didn't want titanium), and another $35 to pierce each ear. So for a grand total of $300 I could get my ears pierced. No thank you. Update: Just for comparison, another shop a few blocks away with similar rating and moderate pricing indication offered 14k gold options, safe for new piercings, at $40 a pair (plus the fee for piercing each ear). As the owner said in his response below (although a little condescending because clearly I don't understand that gold is not cheap) they do have stainless steel and titanium options if that is your jam, that would NOT cost you $300. read more

These guys are really professional. I've only had piercing related visits (i.e. New ones/changing things out/checking up on old ones) and they always have done a great job, been really friendly and made me feel at ease in general. I know tattoo shops get busy, so I called in advance. Luckily there's no need for an appointment when getting piercings. Just walk right in!! Sam is the BEST!!! He's so good at his craft, that he asked me a question and by the time I started to answer, my ear was pierced!!! I then started bracing for the second piercing when he told me he did both my conch and mid cartilage at the same time!!! Whoaaaa!!! Completely amazed!!! Easy breezy!!! He's also very patient, taking the time to explain the do's and don'ts for aftercare. You're encouraged to return for a checkup to make sure everything is cool. I called ahead for a nose piercing to check if they were doing them due to covid. Sam quoted me $100 for titanium jewelry which is what it came out to. He did my piercing very fast, showed me the jewelry before and made sure I liked the placement. I asked him about my 2nd and 3rd lobe piercings since they were swollen and he cleaned them for me. Sam said they were infected so he also gave me iodine packets even though he didn't pierce them. He told me to come back in a week to check on them and my nose and wouldn't accept a tip when I tried. The only thing is he wasn't wearing a mask but I guess it's not required in NYC for vaccinated people anymore. I could've asked for him to wear a mask but I didn't. read more

Luckily, I found this gem through both yelp and groupon! I would totally recommend checking groupon if you're saving money or if you don't mind and are worrying about the quality, don't worry about it either. I asked for a cartilage piercing in which he told me it would be really easy. My bff was there with me in case I fainted because apparently people have fainted after getting pierced! The process was simple, the tools were sterilized and were only used once. I believe he used a needle and made sure it was clean. He gave me advice on maintaining from getting an infection. So what's to do in NYC after you've done all of those touristy things because you go there on a regular basis. Get a tattoo! I'll admit, that sounds impulsive and while many people do this while drunk and impulsively, I was neither drunk and this is something that I've wanted to do for years. Fear of pain, kept me from it, as well as changing my mind about, what and where. Did some research, talked to some friends with tats and decided I was getting closer to taking the plunge. Checked out some Yelp reviews and realized that one of the places I bookmarked was right across the street from where I was having dinner, so I decided to stop in and ask a few questions and let it go from there. I walk in and meet Sam the owner, very nice easy going guy, he answered my questions, mainly about "does it hurt" his reply was exactly as my friends have told me, so honesty rated really high with me. He also had me type out what I wanted to we could review fonts, he told me to take my time looking and also stressed if I wasn't sure, to wait. As I said, easy going and no pressure. By this time I had a phrase in mind, so since everything checked out, I decided to go ahead. Sam introduced me to Kevin the tattoo artist, super sweet guy and explained to him that it was my first, so we joked "tattoo virgin" no more. Kevin told me he'd be gentle and work it slowly and for me to let him know if I felt uncomfortable. As he worked, all I felt was some tingling and a couple of little moments of discomfort, but all and all it was just fine. The whole experience was very pleasant, and I'm very happy with the tattoo. I'd have know hesitation about going back. To illustrate what gentlemen these two are, as I was leaving it started to rain at a good clip, Sam asked me if I had an umbrella, well I didn't. He ran to the back of the shop to see if someone else had left one behind, and came up front with one. As luck would have it, it turned out to be Kevin's, which at that point I didn't want to take it. Being such a nice guy Kevin said, take it, what kind of man would I be if I let you go out in the rain and get soaked. Aw, what a man! I really appreciated the gesture, because as it was he was giving his umbrella away, he knew I was from Chicago. I was so touched that the next morning, I doubled back and returned it, looked to be a unique umbrella not one of those compact ones, so I didn't want to just leave it behind at the hotel. read more

I had been wanting to get more lobe piercings for awhile and decided to take the plunge while visiting Manhattan for my birthday. The first thing I noticed upon setting foot in the shop was how CLEAN it was. To give you a quick profile of me, I'm a bit of a germaphobe and tend to be really conservative in appearance. I found NYC Ink through researching every piercing shop in Manhattan. So you can only imagine how relieved I was to walk into this shop and be able to smell and feel the cleanliness. So here's where I tell you that the owner, Sam, is amazing. The rest of this review will be dedicated to how amazing he is. My friend and I waited for awhile before we were addressed. Sam was working with another customer and simply popped out for a quick moment to let us know he'd be with us shortly. It was about 15 mins. When he was done, he came to work with us and gave us his FULL attention. He walked us through the entire process, helped us pick out jewelry, and was extremely patient while explaining everything. He kept marking and remarking the piercing location and never once rushed us. In fact, he really wanted us to take our full time and gave us a good idea what the piercing would look like with different kinds of jewelry in each potential spot before he pierced anything. Sam told us he'd been piercing for 17 years, and it shows. I was not expecting just how smooth and easy the piercing itself would be. He is not the cheapest option out there (but do you REALLY want to go for the cheapest guy who might cut corners for punching holes in your body?) Sam engaged me in questions to distract me as he was doing the piercing so I barely noticed. He supplied us with a stack of alcohol wipes, gave us a discount on the cleaning solution, and gave us the free jewelry per the Yelp check in. He made it thoroughly clear that he considers aftercare as his job and told us multiple times to contact him with ANY problem. Since we were from out of state, he told us he would ship replacement earrings if a part fell out or if anything happened. It's a level of customer care and service that I was not expecting. Remember the part where I told you we waited 15 minutes when we first arrived? Sam spent over an hour with the two of us. In that time, another customer came in, and he briefly let her know it'd be a bit of a wait. He then proceeded to give us his full attention. Never once was he distracted by the fact that there was another customer waiting for him. That is something I really appreciate especially given the fact that this was to do a piercing. Afterwards? We both kept forgetting all day that we had pierced our ears. I had 3 lobe piercings done, and my friend did 2 cartilage piercings. We FORGOT we had them pierced because it did not hurt at all. It's been exactly 2 weeks since I've had them done, and it is healing perfectly. I honestly thought Sam was exaggerating when he told us that my friend's cartilage piercing could heal as soon as a month. Now I'm inclined to believe him because hers looks so good as well. We are going back to NY in two weeks and will be dropping in for a check up with Sam. I wouldn't ever go to anyone else to get additional piercings done. Highly recommend. read more

There's a reason these guys have 5 stars and have been open for as long as they have. I got two piercings on my cartilage and they took the best care of me. They had me come back to check up on the healing and whenever I came in with an issue they took care of me free of charge! When it got infected they helped me take care of it AND gave me free titanium earrings because they thought my body rejected the surgical steal ones. They switched the earings out, cleaned up my piercings and gave me a handful of swans to continue cleaning it. I also got my first tattoo done here - their designer worked with me for an hour until he mastered what I had in my head. These guys take the best care of their people and have the best service. The store itself is one of many such establishments in the West Village. It's clean and professional looking. Isadora did my piercing without any issues at all -- I had a straightforward nose piercing done. Sam wasn't available when I went in which was a bummer because I'd read all about him. My negative review is only for the quiet piercer lady who seemed she didn't want to be there. I found NYC ink through yelp. It has so many good reviews! And what I wanted was just the most common earlobe piercings, what could go wrong? Well..not to mention the painful process(she couldn't get the jewelry through the holes she just pierced), I got my earlobes pierced in early MARCH and they still aren't healed(I even switched to pure gold jewelry after the first 2 month of not healing). You might say healing time is all depends on individual, but my lower nostril and septum piercings( they were done elsewhere a week after the earlobe piercings) are perfectly healed now. I honestly don't know what to do with my earlobes, I might have to take out the jewelry, let the holes heal and get them redone by someone more professional. Ps: one of the 2 stars is for the waitstaff who helped me, she was super friendly and welcoming! Sam was awesome and professional and had it done so quick that I barely had time to feel any pain. He also hooked both me and my boyfriend up with some tshirts before we left. This place is a little pricier than rest as they flex their pricing (generally $80 for a piece, but upping it during later hours), which is why I'm only giving them 4 stars, but if you get the good fortune of getting Kelsey Mo as your artist, just know that she'll take care of you and give you a piece of fantastic body art for life. NYC Ink is tiny (probably only 250 square feet), and they only have two artists, but both of them are more than competent, and they stay up until 3:59am to help you. If you're in the area, you really can't beat the customer service. Pricing could be better, but I'm finding that NYC tattoo parlors in general are charging this price.
