    Fried rice

Nyonya has definitely been hit by the inflation rates as expected. Prices are up from the past but the food was still delicious. This time around I tried the deep fried squid balls (squid fishball covered with small cubed potatoes), seafood fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. The fried rice had a lot of wok hei and was mild in flavor but really tasty. It wasn't too spicy, just a hint of white pepper at the end. The seafood this dish had were shrimp, scallop and squid pieces. The sweet and sour chicken was crunchy and also generously coated with a lot of sauce. The fried squid balls reminded me of the korean corn dogs with the potato cubes covering it. The sweet chili sauce complemented it pretty well.

The roti canai and roti prata were both really good! I also really enjoyed the fries fish soup --the fish itself could have been a little fresher, but the broth was super sour and flavorful, which I personally loved. The garlic chicken was a bit dry, but overall, for the price and the flavors, I think this place is definitely worth it.

Great place with great food. This place is a staple to visit in Chinatown and awesome prices. My friends and I ordered staples like the hainanese chicken and roti and ordered new dishes like the tom yum soup and clams. Everything was super delicious and worth coming back to. Service was quick and nice and ambiance can get lively especially on weekends. Amazing experience 10/10

Wow, can't believe I've never reviewed Nyonya... a Chinatown staple... back to when it used to be located across the street! It was definitely before my Yelp days. Nyonya is consistent. The food is always good. The vibe, still hectic AF. (Back when the wait time would be over 1hr... ). The service is sometimes a miss... can cause anxiety and leave you hungry lol... but there are times when it's super nice. I'm not saying they are the best, but they are a solid choice for "Americanized" Malaysian food. (The seasoning is spicier in different parts of Malaysia.. but in Malaysia their version of chicken rice is not as delish as ones we had in Singapore, yea I said what I said). So, Nyonya went through an expansion phase... they used to have 2 locations in Brooklyn, which has now shuttered. This Grand St spot is the OG... serving up delicious eats for over 20+ years. I've been eating here for over 20 years... since my poor college days to my now mediocre salary days! lol What we love: Roti (airy & crispy); surong burong (taro nest is delish!), Hainanese chicken (silky smooth), and love love their morning glory with belacan sauce. They also have a dessert that I always get - momo-chacha (freaking bomb). Anyway, there's lots of good eats here so explore the menu and taste one dish at a time!

Came here for dinner and I will say it was eh. We were seated quickly and the staff were extremely nice and friendly. We ordered the sarang burong, seafood scramble egg chow fun, hainanese chicken over rice and the roti canai. The roti canai came out quick. The roti was cold but crispy. Guess it was just sitting there and not freshly made. Thankfully the curry dip was hot. The sarang burong came out next and it was very bland. No flavor what so ever. It was just stir fried chicken shrimp and veggies topped with cashews. Wish it was flavorful. Salt would have been nice or some sort of Malaysian flavor. The fried taro was cold also. Guess it was just sitting around til someone orders it. The hainanese chicken was also bland. Not even the dark soy sauce or the water downed hot sauce on side could have saved it. Only thing flavorful was the chicken flavored rice. The seafood scramble egg chow fun was the saving grace. Flavorful and tasty. Don't think I will come back and stick with going to West New Malaysia from now on.

Hainanese chicken, roti canai, tom yum clams

Walked in on a sunday around 7 PM, and were seated at a table for 2 immediately. The restaurant was very large and had a lot of seating, and the waiters were quick to take our orders and fill our orders. There was a very extensive list of options on the menu. For our appetizer and entrees, we ordered the roti canai, Hainanese chicken, and tom yum clams, as well as chicken rice on the side. My favorite was the roti canai, but all of the savory dishes were very good and comforting. I normally never finish my rice, but the chicken rice went very well with the tom yum soup. For dessert, we ordered the ABC, which was a shaved ice dish with a variety of toppings. I didn't enjoy it as much as the other dishes, but it was refreshing and light. This meal came out to be about $35 per person after tax and tip.

Came here for dinner and it was packed! Luckily didn't have to wait long to be seated. We got two of the roti canai, and interestingly one of the dippings was spicer than the other. They also had small pieces of chicken in the spicy sauce. The beef skewers were amazing!!! Heavenly! They were juicy and so so flavorful even without the dipping sauce. The tom yum clams were okay, just not for me. The hainan chicken took the longest to come out surprisingly. It was nice and juicy. Service was good and they came by to refill our water several times. It is clean and roomy inside.

Been back a few times recently. Much happier with the service. Food came out comically quick for our last visit. Ambience is fine. There's some interesting lighting if you're moved towards the back of the main dining room. The bathrooms are also freshly renovated so it's clean and solid now, which is a plus. Chow kueh teow and the kang kung belacan are my staples here. The crispy golden fried squid is excellent, with light batter and good flavors. The Malaysian style spare ribs are intense and rich. Hainanese chicken is a bit bland and needs sauce.

Affordable, authentic Malaysian food in Chinatown--literally not a single dish I didn't like! My family and friends raved about Nyonya. Compared to other Malaysian restaurants I've been to in NYC, the dishes here felt lighter and less oily. The menu is huge, and there's so much I still want to try. *Roti Canai 印度麵包 $6.5 * Their signature appetizer: the flakiest flatbread I've ever had, plus they even put a piece of chicken in the curry sauce on the side! *Beef Satay 沙爹牛串 $15.95 ** I often find beef skewers overcooked and tough, but here they got it perfect. Tender, charred, and with plenty of satay peanut sauce. *Sarang Burong 佛砵飄香 $21.95 ** Possibly the most underrated Malaysian dish and my personal favorite. The fried lace mashed taro is shaped like a bird's nest and topped with shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, and veggies. Similar to a taro puff pastry dim sum, and I swear any taro lover would love this. *Nasi Lemak 椰漿飯 $15.95 * I couldn't leave a drop because the curry was that good. Coconut milk rice made every bite even better. *Hainanese Chicken 海南雞 $13.95 (¼), $17.95 ( 1/2) Super silky, tender chicken, and the portion made the price totally worth it. *Coconut Pudding 椰子凍 They treated us to this coconut pudding on the house, which normally comes in a coconut shell. I was stuffed, but it was so light that I still finished every bite. *Malaysian Iced Coffee 馬來咖啡冰 $5.5 As always, malaysian coffee was way too sweet for me since it's mixed with condensed milk...

    Hainanese chicken with rice

My cousin and I came here for a late night dinner. Inside was larger than it looked from the outside. We both had hainanese chicken with rice. They warned us that the chicken was cold but we knew what it was. They also made sure we knew it was cash only. We saw. They gave a generous portion of chicken and rice. When you order it is the luck of the draw. I got all white meat with nary a bone while my cousin got all dark meat with lots of bone. Both white and dark was tender and delicious but I felt like I got more meat. The rice was very flavorful. The spicy dipping sauce was not too hot. The waitress kept our water glasses full and was attentive. It was a solid meal.

Came here for Chinese New Year lunch after walking around Chinatown and enjoying the festivities. There was a bit of a wait, about 15 mins, but they are very efficient and turn the tables over quick. It was a bit crowded and loud since it was Chinese New Year but it did not seem like tables were on top of one another. They had a special menu for the lunar new year but we stuck with our tried and true Hainanese and Thai Chicken, a few Roti Canais, and some skewers. Their food came out quick, but they did not forfeit flavor over speed.

Food: This restaurant's food is delicious! We tried the roti canai, beef satay skewers. curry fish, Indian Mee Goreng, and stir fried water spinach. All dishes were very tasty and enjoyable. The roti canai was perfectly crispy and thin. Beef skewers were moist and juicy with an excellent satay dipping sauce. The fish had great flavor but was definitely a bit overcooked and dry in some parts. The Indian Mee Goreng and stir fried water spinach were our favorites and so flavorful. They have a very extensive menu of authentic Malaysian dishes. Service: Service was excellent and staff are so warm and friendly! Ambiance: The restaurant is a good size and can accommodate both large and small groups. Seating is a bit tight, and tables are placed very closely together, but the overall ambiance is great. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Walked in on a Saturday night and was seated immediately. Tons of seating for an amazing Michelin guide Malaysian restaurant! Able to easily accommodate parties of all sizes and fast service. Cash only. Tried the curry mee chicken. Absolutely blew my mind. Need to return to try their roti canai, roti telur, hainanese chicken and beef rendang.

Upon looking at the yelp reviews and pictures, Fish Creeks was it! We made a reservation, which is highly recommended. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed but there wasn't a line. We were seated immediately. The place was nicely lit, not too crowded. It was just my wife and I, so we were seated at a small table. We were greeted by our server. The menu was fairly simple, not too many choices to debate over. That's always a good sign imo. We decided to go with the fried rice (recommended to us), the fried pork belly and the morning glory (veggie). All I have to say is.. WOW. Even being pretty hungover, the food was absolutely amazing. The fried fish was fried to perfection, the herbs really added a nice touch. The fish was so meaty, no bones. The pork belly was a little over fried, but was still delicious. It was a little chewy but the flavors and fried garlic was excellent. The morning glory was cooked perfectly, just like how my mom made it when I growing up. Overall, the meal was 5/5! We couldn't have asked for a better meal, it exceeded all of our expectations. The service was great. The place was booming and it didn't take long to get our food or anything. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back next time! We can't wait to try the rest of the menu.. or even getting the same thing because it was that good!
