This was THE PERFECT place for a rainy day lunch. What impressed me the most was that for the food we received, our total bill came out to less than $30! Boyfie and I shared a Hainanese half chicken, chicken broth rice, and ginger duck noodle. I don't know what their secret was to making all the meats so tender, but I felt like I was in food heaven. Probably one of the most memorable Hainanese chicken dishes I've had in a while. The ginger duck noodle soup was also very fragrant and flavorful. Usually, duck can be a fatty meat, but that didn't feel like the case at Nyonya (a good thing!) Cannot recommend this place enough. It's safe to say that I'll be back here during my next NYC trip. read more

we were in Chinatown looking for a good lunch place and online places suggested this place so we decided to check it out. as the description says, they are a chinese malaysian restaurant so the flavor is a bit different. we started with the roti and then had the chicken satay, the tum yum soup and the pad thai with shrimp. the pad thai also came with tofu and had more glass noodles with lots of sambhal sauce. the roti cani was average while the chicken satay was decent. the soup was really good with lots of ingredients and a good portion quick service and decent food with good portion size. the restaurant is cash only read more

CASH ONLY Our friends wanted to take us here and while I was a little skeptical reading the reviews, this is the real deal. 4 of us had: - Roti (thin): good classic dipping into the curry sauce - Kang Kung Belacon: this was surprisingly my FAVORITE dish of the night. I've never had a veggie dish with more umami flavor than this one. I wish I could buy whatever shrimp paste they used for this dish. - Hainanese chicken: not bad, but not necessarily something I have to get again. - We got a shrimp noodle dish that was good and would get again but don't remember the name. - I think we had one more dish too but can't remember now. read more

We stumbled across this place for dinner. It hit home. The food was palatable, well seasoned, and delicious. The service was great and everything came out pretty quick. We ordered four entrées and shared it family style, which was more than enough for the four of us. Staff were very friendly and always refilling our cup. read more

All the food here was worth the price. There was no wait time to be seated. It is conveniently located. 1. Beef Rendang (9/10): The beef was very tender, and the curry was flavorful. This was my favorite dish from the meal! 2. Roti Prata (9/10): The roti here was delicious! I really enjoyed the dipping sauce, and the roti was fried just right. 3. Hainese Chicken with chicken broth rice (9/10): I typically don't like Hainese chicken, but they did it really well. It was not dry and had really good seasoning. It paired so well with the rice and I would definitely get this again. 4. Prawn Mee (7/10): The noodles and beef in this dish were pretty good, but the soup was a bit too oily for my taste. It's spacious, but it's cash only so make sure you bring that when you go. The service was fast and efficient. This is a restaurant worth going back to to try more dishes. read more

A staple just steps from Little Italy for 30 years, this Michelin Guide spot is serving some banging Malaysian-Chinese dishes. And it's super affordable, entrees for only $15 what?! Roti canai, beef rendang, and garlic chicken. Those are the most consistent and crowd pleasing dishes that I order whenever I come here. Servers always treat me really well. Side note: do try to bring your own cash from home instead of relying on the ATM there. It's an easy target for people trying to steal your credit card info. My friend's credit card got hacked lol. I doubt it has anything to do with the restaurant owners though. read more

Pretty good Malaysian place in SoHo. The place is quite big so can seat plenty. We had the chicken satay, shrimp with mango, and the ABC for dessert. The chicken satay was pretty good with the peanut sauce. The shrimp with mango was good too but not something I would order again. The ABC hit the spot at the end. Service was good though they did mess up our order in the kitchen. Nice place, good food, pretty good value but cash only. They have an ATM by the entrance. read more

Not sure if it's under new management or what. But came back after 4 years for their Singapore noodle but it is no longer authentic. That's $14.10 in the garbage. Note this review excludes reviews on Malaysian food since I'm mostly here for their Singapore noodle. read more

When I got take out here a couple weeks ago, it made me realize I last ate here in person over 5 years ago! I ordered the clay pot pearl noodle soup to go, this comes with handmade rice noodles, soup that has chicken, shrimp, bean sprouts, minced squid in an "egg drop" style broth. Flavor was good but a little too salty, had to drink a glass of water afterwards. Though I didn't dine in this time, previously I've come with larger group of 6-10 and it's great bc they have some larger round tables to accommodate family style sharing. It's probably one of the few Malaysian restaurants in the city that can seat more than 50 people. Decor-wise it's got a SE Asian colonial vibe with dark wood colors, exposed brick and wall murals featuring Malaysian street scenes. Overall food is prob middle of the road compared to other Malaysian restaurants, good enough that I would consider it an option if I was in the area. Their curries, veggie dishes, some noodle soups and fried noodles stand out in my mind. As many have said, cash only! read more

Food was mediocre, really small portion for the price and quite pricey I got their squid with house special sauce and my boyfriend got their Hainanese chicken One pricey dish will not be enough to fill you up their portions are so small you need to order several of their expensive dishes to make up a full meal. This place is a total ripoff and the food is disappointing. I would say avoid this place there are much better cheaper places in nyc read more

this spot is an absolute hidden gem in chinatown, nyc and it's a must visit if you're looking for a cozy meal. the appetizers you must get is their roti and chicken satay. both are such a classic and you can't go wrong with either. I really enjoyed their fried pearl noodles. It was flavorful and delicious. for drinks we got the watermelon & lychee juice and malaysian ice tea which were both sooo good. depends on if you're feeling something fruity or milky. service was amazing and super friendly. our food came out pretty quick. read more

Solid Malaysian option in Chinatown. Its a fairly nice space, so good option for dining in. Prices are a little higher than average for Chinatown standards, but reasonable. Everything that we ordered was tasty. My favorite was the beef rendang. This had a fairly generous amount of meat, and I enjoyed the curry as well. I am reprimanding myself for having Nyonya on my radar for the longest time and not trying their food until now. I think I found my new go to Malaysian spot. Right when you walk in, on your left, there is a wall of accolades from Michelin, Eater, and every food publication you can imagine. Mesmerized by the wall of awards, I almost didn't notice more people coming in and I shifted my focus to communicating to the host before I was waitlisted behind the people coming in. Thankfully, our party didn't have to wait for a table. Nyonya doesn't need fancy decorations or swanky ambiance because the food speaks volumes. Everything from the standard Malaysian appetizers and the big shared platters were flavorful without being greasy. My partner, who is a little picky, was raving about the curry beef tripe and stingray wrapped in banana leaf. Since my partner is allergic to shellfish, we opted for the satay skewers, roti canai, pineapple chicken, and curry fish head just to name a few. All the meat that was served was tender and well seasoned and the breads were flaky on the outside but soft on the inside. If all the food we got was good, I can only imagine how good the crabs, prawns, and seafood flavored broths are. The best part is that since I came with my family, the workers were even more friendly and treated us like the local Asian aunties and uncles. The workers were conversational while also being efficient. I guess it also helps that my parents come often and the workers know them well enough to give us coconut pudding on the house. For the amount and quality of the food we payed a reasonable price for a party of 4. Now I understand why my family loves this place so much. Nyonya has everything from great food, great service, at great prices. Nyonya is a real gem among all the overpriced hype in nyc. read more

Yes this is cash only but who cares when the food is THAT amazing? It certainly doesn't matter much to me. As a proud Penangite, I absolutely LOVE the asam laksa (which has a sour base broth, not to be mistaken with the curry laksa which is creamy coconut flavored). I almost cried when I ate it the first time cause it tasted so much like home, the waiters let me know that the chef is from Penang like myself and it warmed my heart. I've also tried to their prawn mee and bubur char char - both were authentic and passed my very hard-to-please Penang tastebuds. This review has been a long time coming as I was here during Chinese New Year with one of my many groups. The service as noted by others is hit or miss and they are cash only which is fine with me. In general I would say that a lot of the seafood dishes here unfortunately include squid which I'm highly allergic to so I have to avoid a lot of seafood here of course. As I don't exactly remember the order of what we ate, I'll put it by preference outside of the prosperity salad which was a special for Chinese New Year. Prosperity Salad/鱼生/Yusheng- Much more complicated than the version at Rasa with some jellyfish and other new ingredients. It's a mix of textures and you add the various sauces and condiments and toss it all in the air using your chopsticks. It's a fun thing to do though I found it a bit too sweet compared to the version at the other spot. String Beans With Belachan- These surprisingly came with a couple small shrimp on top. This was the surprising hit of the night with the string beans cooked perfectly and them having a nice rich seafood flavor from the shrimp paste. Would recommend heavily. Beef Rendang- Very good version here at least for this style. Stewed down well with very tender beef though my preferred version is very likely at Malay restaurant in Flushing. Roti Canai- Solid. Roti could use more crisp but the curry was good. House Special Pork With Yam/客家芋頭扣肉/芋头扣肉- It's hard to tell until you put your chopsticks in whether you're picking up a piece of pork or yam as both of them have a dark brown color from the soy sauce marinade. It has a very rich flavor with perhaps a bit too much salt but the pork was cooked nicely. I believe it's a Hakka dish in origin which makes a lot of sense for the restaurant. Pearl Noodles With Mixed Seafood- I couldn't try much of which as expected the mixed seafood turned out to be shrimp and squid but of the noodle I tried, there was a good amount of wok hei. Steamed Bass With Mushrooms And Veggies in Spicy Lemongrass Sauce- Big portion. Strong lemongrass flavor. Not exactly spicy and just alright. In terms of Malaysian spots, if you want to pay a bit more, I found the noodles and stuff better at Rasa. In terms of cheaper options, I found the food better at the newcomer Curry House and there's always the old West New Malaysia which is similarly good to this and easier to get into. If this review was written before I went to Curry House. If 3.5 stars existed, this would be the perfect spot for it. Mid 3 rounded up for the prices and overall food primarily for a couple dishes in particular. read more

came here once 2 years ago and enjoyed it but this time the food didnt hit for some reason. not sure if my tastes have changed or the food quality actually got worse but the prawn mee tasted watery and the shrimp with lady fingers was just ok and didnt taste fresh for some reason. sadly my favorite dish was probably the bean sprouts. we came around 5pm when it was empty except for one other party. it felt like we were rushed to order by the waiter but somehow he also gave me 'dont bother me' vibes. read more

kind of an underrated spot but so great. will definitely go back next time im in the city! this was my first time having malaysian food and the experience was amazing. the ambiance was nothign crazy special, just a nice, comfortable restaurant. the service was quick and efficient. remember to bring cash, but if you forget, there's an ATM at the front ($3 charge). another positive is that it's a very affordable meal in the city. we ordered the roti canai (can't miss, best starter), fried stuffed tofu with peanut sauce, and the glass noodles with salty fish. the menu is super extensive so there's lots to go back and try. read more

Solid Malaysian, cash-only venue. The staff here are very friendly. Came on a Tuesday evening and there was no wait for my group of 5. We ordered: Char Kway Teow, Hainanese Chicken, Beef Rendang, Roti Canai, Roti Prata, and Shrimp with Green Beans. I enjoyed everything except for the Hainanese chicken! There were so many bones in that thing. Way more bones than flavor, I might add. Overall, I still had a great time and would come back to try more off the menu! read more

I grew up eating Nyonya and it's sad to see the quality of their food slowly decline over the years. On my most recent visit, our roti canai ($8) was too crisp and lacked the chewy, buttery texture that made the roti so special to me. The accompanying curry was watery and bland and had a sad little chunk of potato swimming in it. The beef satay skewers ($16.95) were so burnt and tough that it was actually difficult to chew some parts of it. The satay tofu ($10.95) and the chow kueh teow ($14.95) were both alright though the portion sizes seem to have shrunk a little. The Hainanese chicken ($17.95) was a little tough in texture. Overall, a lot of potential still shines at Nyonya so I'm always rooting for them, but I hope they can improve on the consistency of their food soon because there's a lot of competition today in Chinatown. read more

Curry is always a favorite with my sons. We came here based on online reviews, and it really did offer some unique dishes. We tried two Indian bread and they were just okay, but the beef curry and tofu curry soup were both quite good. It's said to be Malaysian cuisine, and it definitely had that Southeast Asian flavor. A nice spot to check out when you're in the mood for something different. read more

I always like trying Malaysian restaurants to get a taste of Malaysia/Singapore food (I have family in Singapore and always miss the food there). I ordered the Roti Canai, which was good. I liked the Nasi Lemak, but the rice didn't have a strong coconut flavor. The Chow Kueh Teoh, on the other hand, was extremely flavorful and my sisters and I all loved it! I ate at Nyonya three times now and the food has been consistently great every time. At this point it's definitely one of my favorite spots in Chinatown. I love that the place is also quite spacious and can accommodate a lot of people! On one of their busier days, I only had to wait 15 minutes for a party of two. I tried many things from their menu but so far Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper Platter and their Prawn Mee are my favorite so far. The flavors for the Prawn Mee are just so unique. Unfortunately their drinks are very watered down, but it's not a big deal considering that their food is solid across the board. read more

This is a cash only restaurant in Little Italy/Chinatown section of lower Manhattan. The best dish on this day for me was the Roti Canai, which you dip in a chicken potato curry broth. So thin and tasty. I had the duck noodle soup. I felt the soup was very oily with slices of ginger in it. It was okay but I thought it could be better. Maybe next time I'll try the dry dishes or the Hainan chicken with rice. Perhaps these would be better than soups. The selection of Malaysian food menu was vast. So so good!!! One of my first times having Malaysian food and it definitely didn't disappoint! Went on a Friday night and didn't have to wait, but it was pretty full. They don't seem to take reservations even though they said they did, so that was a bit confusing. The food came out fairly quickly which was nice. Nasi lemak- super flavorful, good ratio of meat to veggies to rice Noodles- loved the smoky flavor, almost like a smoky pad see ew Roti canai- the curry sauce was soooo good!! I think the roti became a little to crispy so will probably get the prata next time but still really good Beef rendang- very flavorful and not too heavy! Ended up with leftover after 3 hungry people ate a lot and the price only came out to $20 a person after tax/tip which is practically unheard of these days for a good quality meal in Manhattan. My experience at Nyonya was very delightful. The food was lovely. Keep in mind that it is CASH ONLY. The waiter that served us was very friendly and it was fun participating in light banter. My friends and I ordered the skewers, garlic roasted chicken, and the Roti Canai. These were all lovely and tasted good. The ambiance was nice, with dim lights and a cozy feel. Established in 2006.

The inter marriages between the Straits Chinese and Malays offers a delicate culture of the Nyonyas (the ladies) and the Babas (the gentlemen). This was then translated to traditional fashion, handcrafts, and, of course, its special cuisine. Nyonya cooking is a specialty derived from the recipes of one's Grandmother, and sometimes, the influence of one's Grandfather. Recipes were passed from one generation to the other with very little variance. We, at Nyonya, are fortunate to have inherited such guarded recipes. It is then, our utmost belief to present the most authentic Nyonya cuisine to the affluent palate of our American and Asian friends. Here, we strive to introduce and influence our friends, with the many dishes that is achieved through the delicate, and, somewhat perfect blend of spices and herbs.

The honey butter pancakes were pretty good but kinda drenched in the butter that made it hard to finish. The korean wings were also alright but the batter to me was kinda thick and heavy and lacked crispiness. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

If you are not used to mala spice, asking for recommendations or adjusting the spice level is worth doing. The portions also make this a better option for sharing, especially if you want to try several dishes. Overall, Mountain House is a strong option for Sichuan food. The combination of bold flavors, comfortable atmosphere, and attentive service makes it a place worth returning to, especially if you enjoy spicy Chinese cuisine and want a restaurant that focuses on the flavors and techniques of Sichuan cooking rather than just convenience.

They seem to be known for their hand-pulled noodles and spicy flavors. I did see chefs making noodles when I went. We ordered: -Cleaved cucumbers (5/10- these were good but average) -Fried sticky eggplant (8/10- these were fried but you could still taste the flavors and was a good size) -Very spicy pork dan dan (8/10- delicious but more reliant on the sichaun spice over flavors; not too spicy if you are used to it but can pack a punch if you aren't a spicy food eater; the noodles were great). It's one of the larger stalls in the market and has some seating, but not enough, and the market seating is very limited as well. I ordered the hibiscus lemonade and the very spicy Dan Dan Mian. I loved watching the staff prepare the noodles while waiting. My bowl was huge and absolutely delicious. It was very spicy as promised, but not too spicy that it was rendered not enjoyable. I looked at other orders and everything looked delicious, leading to only semi-regret of my choice. My lemonade was very good. I'm very much looking forward to returning.

1, OVERVIEW: NYONAY is a Malaysian restaurant, specializing exotic spicy dishes. It is one of the most popular restaurant (with massive yelp reviews) in the Chinatown in Manhattan New York. 4.5 star. At the entrance, your dining experience starts by their commercial PR activities. A wall-full of variety of awards and recognition of this establishment by the restaurant community are proudly displayed. Also, you see the notification of "CASH ONLY" posted at the first door AND the second door, even before you see a waitstaff to be seated here. (And the tray of the payment bill also had the "CASH ONLY". See my attached photo below.) The each dining table in the front area of the restaurant is really tiny and I was NOT impressed at all. Nevertheless, their menu is made of a very well-designed, large, clean, and laminated full color images of foods & beverages with names & short descriptions & prices. This beautifully created menu is a real perfectionist's work of art. My expectations for the dishes became very high at this point. 2. FOODS: NYONYA is famous for their highly specialized variety of Asian dishes with spicy and hot spices/herbs/curry powders. (I love Japanese style rich and deep curry rice and cook & eat it regularly at home BUT I do not like Indian style sharp spicy curry rice. So, I was thrilled with teh high expectations of tasting dishes here at NYONYA today. 2018.0517.) It is a very good idea to research the yelp reviews before visiting the target restaurant AND actually asking the wait staff what are the most popular dishes there. I chose the following very popular dishes dishes here. HOMEMADE ROTI CANAI (INDIAN PANCAKE): This is a very popular "appetizer" here. At any Indian restaurants, you enjoy the naan bread (it is like a small pizzza without any toppings) by adding those spicy semi-liquid spicy curry foods, commonly. At NYONYA, a paper-thin crispy exotic-looking naan bread instead. The cup on the side is full of sharp spicy curry dipping sauce (with a very tenderly cooked potato and pork with bone). $3.95 +TT. (NOTE: Personally, I think the dipping sauce is way too spicy for the "appetizer". How could you taste the less spicy Prawn Mee after this? It was an exotic work of art. BUT I wish I had two dipping sauces - the original and milder, Mr. Chef there.) PRAWN MEE (spicy): This is one of the most popular (main) dishes at NYONNYA, according to the waiter. (see my attached photos below.) It is a slightly stinky fermented-flavored curry-flavored bowl of egg noodle soup dish. It contains the sliced pork (NOT good. I prefer the richly juicy and full-flavored Chinese Char Siu or the sliced Chinese BBQ pork any day), 4 prawns (good), water spinach (tiny portion), tiny bits of bean sprouts (where?), dried onion (where?), stinky fermented Indian/Malaysian style sharp mildly hot curry spice broth. $8.75+TT. (NOTE: It was nicely done. Nevertheless, I personally prefer the Tonkotsu Ramen at AJISEN RAMEN in Chinatown here, which executed much better as an Asian dish.) The curry-flavored Indian-inspired Asian fusion dishes are gaining popularity in recent years here in New York City. There are also number of Indian restaurants, that serve AYCE Indian lunch buffet in Manhattan now (and I expect their numbers will increase with the current dining trend of the dishes with less meat for healthy diet in Manhattan with very unique life style unlike that of Brooklyn). 3. INTERIOR: NYONYA is NOT a giant restaurant BUT they have three distinctively different dining rooms with completely different walls. (see my attached photos.) They also have several big fish tanks with live fish and lobsters in the back on the way to the bathroom. They have 3 average clean bathrooms (nothing fancy like lovely bathroom at the Lan Ting Hot Pot). One is for males, another one is for females, and the last one is for the both. 4. SERVICE: WARNING: The wait staffs services were good: they answered my questions nicely, and responded politely except two rude ones here. The 15% tip was already added to the bilk, so, be aware. The waitress also did NOT give me the receipt until I request for her. The change was one penny missing, too but I just ignored. Be aware of the sloppy cashier, and count your cash change. I recommend you NYONYA if you have NOT dine at any Malaysian restaurants or curry-flavored dishes for your culinary adventures yet. The price for the each dishes are reasonable and compatible to those at any surrounding Chinese restaurants and Italian restaurants in the "Little Italy" here. We had been meaning to dine at Nyonya, knowing that they don't accept reservations. To avoid any disappointment or inconvenience, we decided to arrive slightly early for dinner. To our surprise, at 6:30 pm, we were promptly seated and informed upfront that the establishment only accepts cash payments. It's advisable to plan ahead to ensure a smooth experience. The menu at Nyonya is extensive, but it's quite easy to understand, especially with the accompanying colored pictures that help you make your selection. To begin our meal, we enjoyed a refreshing cold bottle of Tsingtao along with Roti Canai, a freshly made bread served with curry chicken. We also ordered crispy squid tentacles but soon realized that they were unnecessary. For our main course, my partner initially wanted to try the Hainanese chicken but was informed it would be served cold. As a result, he hesitated and opted for the duck with ginger sauce instead. Meanwhile, I couldn't resist ordering the Nasi Lemak, which was served with flavorful curry chicken, chili, anchovy pickles, and a perfectly boiled egg. The dishes were delicious, and the portions were generous. However, in my opinion, I've had better Malaysian cuisine elsewhere in the city. Overall, the customer service at Nyonya was friendly and efficient, and the prices were reasonable. We will probably come back to try their other dishes. read more

Sorry to say this place has gone to what I call tourist restaurant with no taste the curry that I use to love has been water down and taste like shit.. curry should be thicker. The chicken favor rice is dry as the desert.. Unbelievable that since hippies and tourist the food Quality has gone below 1star... I've been eat at this place for a long time and no is no even a place I recommend for friends visiting from out of town. People that give higher then 2 star don't know what real food is. Even my chef friends say is really bad.. Delivery food - most of the food we ordered was SOOOOOO salty that I had to call them and the answer I received was like you SURE you didn't add salt I was like I have high blood pressure you think I would do that plus is not only my dish but my coworkers too and this has been twice we ordered and samething, sorry I've recommended to my family & not to come here because of the service, this place has GONE down to the slump because is more tourist that has no idea about Malaysian food.. This is another must visit restaurant every time I'm New York. The first time we visited was in 2012 and the experience was amazing. Since then i always visit every time I'm in New York. The food quality and taste always hits the spot! When you come by, do your self a favor and get the paratha roti and curry! The roti is so soft and the curry is so flavorful! My party ordered two and we devoured it before we touched our main dishes. For the main dishes I had the prawn mee it is a popular dish here and is a soup with a fish broth base. Super delicious and spicy just like I like it. My wife had the seafood Tom yam. And the broth was freaking amazing. In my opinion I would combine the spicy from the prawn mee and the flavors from the seafood Tom yam My bestie had the pad Thai with shrimp delicious as well. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit as much as possible. i must mention that this is a cash only restaurant. read more

What can I ask for more? I love this place to death... thanks to my buddies who discovered this place and introduced it to me the first time last night. I cannot wait to bring my gf next week... We had: Princess Tofu Red Snapper with curry Roti (fresh made!) Chicken Satay (really good!) Hainanese Chicken 1/2 Kencung Balacan Beef Rendang Ended our meal with pulo hitam and tiramisu! yummy! The decor surprised me for a place in chinatown and the food blew my mind away. The total damage was not much at all. We had so much food and each of us ordered drinks. We had dinner on Saturday night, and the food was just average, lacking the flavors I had hoped for. The Roti Canai was served hot with curry dipping sauce, which was decent. The Baby Oyster Omelette was good and likely the best dish of the evening. We also tried the Hainanese Chicken, which was cooked well and tender, but lacked flavor. The Spicy Squid Tentacle was tough and not crispy, if it weren't for the shape, it wouldn't have resembled squid at all. The watercress vegetables were well-prepared and not soggy. Lastly, the Pad Thai was underwhelming. Nyona used to be a dependable go-to spot with long lines, but this time there were no lines and many empty tables. Perhaps a reassessment of the changes may be needed to restore the quality of the dishes that once made it so popular. read more

Had to grab a quick lunch before catching our flight out of NYC. Had seen the zagat review signs in the window and the clerk at the hotel recommended it. Food was good and fast! The server was really nice and allowed us to sit by the windows as we had our luggage with us. We also had some drinks we wanted to consume before going to the airport and upon asking the server if we could drink it in the restaurant, he allowed us to do so! I'd like to be able to try a few other dishes, but that will have to wait until we go back! I'd recommend going with several other people and eating family style, as with any asian restaurant, so that you can try several dishes without getting overstuffed or breaking the bank! read more

I have been here a few times over the last 10 years with my most recent visit being about a month ago. Sadly, the authenticity of the Singapore/Malaysia food has been compromised. We ordered the Char Kway Teow, Roti Canai and local dessert. Suffice to say, the Char Kway Teow was bland, and tasted nothing like what I would otherwise get in Singapore. The Roti Canai was ok, the curry dip accompaniment is bland and watered-down. I was really looking forward to the experience but was disappointment with how bland the food has become over time. Love coming here for a quick lunch outing. Service is quick and the lunch specials are under $10, comes with a bowl of soup, and the portions are normal entree sized. I dont know how authentic the food is since Malaysian food is a bit fusion to begin with but it does taste good to a person who eats in Chinatown on a regular basis. The atmosphere is nice - wooden setting, hand painted artwork by a local Asian American artist, and low lighting (you can read your menu clearly and see your food but it can have a romantic feel to it). The bathroom is also clean which is always a plus in Chinatown. I recommend the roti and mango chicken over rice. read more

I had brunch earlier here, came in at around 11:30 and the food was a total knockout. I think this place is worth 4 stars, everything in here is damn near perfect except for the try hard service. I was overwhelmed by friendly servers, but it was a little too much. Everyone's smiles were a little too fixated in here, they tried so hard to give off a good vibe and they sorta went overboard with it. It made me a little anxious to be honest. As for the food, the roti canal (Indian pancake) I had was tremendously tasty, especially with that super delicious curry dipping sauce. I'd come back here just for that. read more

Nyonya is the bustling, busy and extremely popular Malaysian restaurant in Little Italy. Here they try to bring to the West authentic Nyonya style cooking which evolved as result of the intermarriages between Chinese immigrants and local Malays. The food at Nyonya is good but the whole experience is all a little too mass for me. I feel Im missing out on the authentic nuances of the cuisine which I might experience at a place like Taste Good. All in all though, Nyonya makes for a decent experience with a few dishes that will keep you coming back for more. read more

My brother and I like to go here for Malaysian food but I feel like its more of a Asian fusion type of restaurant. I don't recall mango chicken over rice Malaysian. Anyhow, the food is delicious! I suggest you eat there Nasi lemak ( rice dish), abc shaved ice for dessert and ohh!, try all there appetizers/ snacks:) What I really didn't like about my experience is, waiters and staffs don't leave you alone! The closest I've found to real Malaysian food outside of Malaysia and trust me I've searched. The roti canai isn't perfect, but it's very good and once again the closest by far to the real thing that I've been able to find in the states. I really liked everything I got, but some of my friends got some Chinese dishes they really didn't care for, so I would advise sticking to the Malaysian and Thai food and take a pass on the Chinese food. It's also very cheap for what you are getting. read more
