In a nutshell: Above-average sushi for an AYCE spot in Reno. Gets busy due to popularity so don't come on a busy night hungry and impatient. Rice is on the sweet side. Fish is decent AYCE quality not that most patrons eating heavily sauced rolls could taste any difference. Service is great when it isn't packed. Small, simple, clean dining room with about 8-10 bar seats. Nothing fancy. Service is friendly and attentive until it fills up, at which point patience becomes part of the tasting menu. Prices match the competition, but the AYCE punch card (buy 10, get 1 free) effectively knocks ~10% off. Beer is included Mondays; sake Tuesday-Thursday. Nigiri fish-to-rice ratio is average but varies depending on who's behind the counter. Notably, broiled mussels are unlimited, which isn't always the case elsewhere. Roll selection is very large, many are mayo/teriyaki/eel sauce heavy with imitation crab like the other places (fills up patrons for cheap.) Great for those wanting to taste sweet & savory more than raw fish. Rolls are large, so they fill you up quickly unless you share or switch to hand rolls. If you don't need high-end ambiance or seating for more than 4 people without a wait, want solid value, and don't mind sweet rice, this is a strong choice. 4.5/5 by Reno AYCE standards. 4/5 all things considered. Comfortably top-five AYCE in Reno. Just wish the rice wasn't so sweet.

O'A sushi is ahhmazing! First visit here and we were lucky to get right in and seated in the main dining room, as I've heard it can get quite busy. We had a late lunch so decided to just go for ala carte but wished we had done their all you can eat. We started with the calamari appetizer, cucumber salad and two orders of their potstickers. Their potstickers were the star of the show and I would go back here just to order these. Some of the best in town in my opinion! They were doughy and flavorful, still tender not too crispy and just the right size with a great potsticker slightly spicy sauce. We then ordered the Snow mountain roll, the caterpillar and rainbow. We loved the size of the rolls, not too much rice, flavorful, fresh and good. Before our order came out we were offered a sample of a new dumpling pork bun that was so good we wished we could order it; but the owner informed us it would be coming to a store next door soon - so stay tuned for a new O'A dumpling dim sum shop to open soon in the same shopping center. The service was attentive and charming and the restaurant seems very authentic - we can't wait to go back and try all you can eat and get their punch card.

I liked the smaller pieces, easier to eat. Tempura Upside Down Shrimp Nigiri Sushi was my favorite.

Service was good. Nice lady kept our waters filled and checked in often. Pieces are a little smaller. But I like that! Easier to eat! Fish was a little bland. But for AYCE it was good. We liked the black Tiger and snow mountain. One thing, the music they had on was not family friendly. Curse words playing pretty loud. Kinda funny. My kids are adults now so didn't bother me.

Me and my husband went right after the lunch special ended and it was the perfect time to go. Not too busy or crowded and the space is cool tone but relaxing. I've been here before but for the Chinese food side and never the sushi side which is very intriguing. I love their Chinese food and was not surprised when I tried their sushi. The staff are kind and quick to attend you when ordering. They also do a great job of following up on drinks and anything else you may need while you're eating/waiting. They did fail to bring some of the appetizers on our order, but the food tasted so great. We were OK with it. My husband and I loved every single roll that we tried. We had: -Mussels -cream cheese Rangoon's -miso soup -Tasty pop -OA #2 -Creamy Salmon -War -Golden Gate -Sweet bear -Paradise -Snow Mountain We did not finish all our sushi but we definitely enjoyed every bite. 10/10 highly recommend this place. It's located in the Moana shopping center near Raley's.

I'm due for an update! I'm glad I decided to return since being treated to a sushi dinner date here recently. The servers are great here and on the Chinese food side as well. I like the rolls offered on their dinner menu. The sushi chefs(guys) are hit or miss. For instance I'll order a roll as a hand roll and will come out a long roll. It's happened everytime or they'll serve us someone else's platter. So I keep track of what I order and ask what things are as they come out. I like having the option to have Chinese at the sushi half or vice versa. Bar or table seating like other sushi bars and tables are cleared off immediately. It's a plus that their restroom is clean. I only wish they would change their policy with the cards. I suggest whoever pays gets the stamps for the visit. We had friends visiting from out of town and they have no use for a stamp card at sushi here.

Oh yeah, went here with my sister's brother and man for my birthday dinner. Had a wonderful time. We actually went for lunch. I really like this sushi place. Always really fresh sushi. Great service! They're great for parties and it's super fresh sushi. I really had a wonderful time. Thank you to my family....

I absolutely LOVE this sushi spot!! The owners are so nice and welcoming ! The sushi is always fresh and tastes so amazing! The chefs are seasoned and can recommended things that you would love no problem! Small and intimate. You get what seems like personal service most of the time . All the employees are superbly attentive and friendly also!

Maggie, our server was so sweet. The hand roll and long roll combinations were all delicious. Loved the well proportioned sushi, as it allowed us to try a good variety of their offerings & there were many more. Ingredients were fresh. A great spot, especially after a day on the slopes. Thank you, O'A!

    Karen A.

It was busy, but the staff smiled at you once you entered, they had to clean a table for us. Attentive. Sushi was surprisingly one of the better ones in Reno, but this is my personal preference... I love smaller bite sized portions... the sushi hand rolls were smaller and delicate. Fresh and good options. Casual ambience for sure, will definitely go back.

Really nice service, clean, sushi was all you can eat at lunch for $26.95. The fish was fine but nothing special or amazing by all means. I like to give honest reviews because 4.5 on Yelp is very generous but not accurate if you're looking for good quality sushi

    Kyle S.

I was really impressed with O'A sushi. The quality of sushi was excellent, and the service was incredibly fast without feeling rushed. My favorite roll was the Tundra and my favorite appetizers were the Donald Duck and Yakiton!

Tried the sushi at O'A Chinese Restaurant and Sushi--pretty good overall! The fish was fresh, and the service was great, but the sushi rice was on the sweeter side for my preference. The restaurant is small but not too busy, so it's worth a try for a casual eat!

    Sam B.

I've been gatekeeping this place because although the place is small and is no frills, the service is really excellent and the sushi always fresh. At least every time I go there. I really like how their staff is so friendly that they take time to talk to you even though they're busy. And the chefs...I just have to say that they are very accommodating. If there's something you want that's not on the menu, just ask and they will try their best to accommodate. I do not like any sauce or mayo at all and they are really good at making sure I didn't have any in all of my orders. They even ask if you're ok with certain ingredients before serving your order to you. I especially like the fact that the portions are just right, and not too much rice. Perfect balance of fish and rice. I definitely like eating here.

The time it was just my husband and I was so slow. We also sat down as the second table. They had a full staff and it took the longest. The food is good. I rate the roles at a 3, but note. I like simple sushi. So I tried the rolls just to try and see what they taste like. Its good if you like likes of flavor. It removes what people say is the fishy taste. I love the taste of fish. So I typically lean towards nigiri. I will amdit their sashimi salad as a 5/5. I loved it. I thought we could order 1 per round, but thats not the case. Look at the menu and its once per visit. The salmon hand roll is a 1 for me. It was not very crispy and hard to power through. So I dont recommend that, but they do a roll of it. So if you share with friends it might be worth while. The Niger I rate a 3.5/5. There was a lot of rice, but they also give a good size slice of fish. What got me was it didn't have that crisp taste when I ate it. Its hard to explain. The food quality is good. Don't get me wrong. Just the service and my simple taste buds. Its very popular and many locals love it. The lady was very sweet, when we got to speak with her. So don't let my rating and my taste buds hinder you from eating here. So give them a try.

As I sit at the bar with salmon eggs popping in my mouth, I think: life is good, but not perfect,…read moresame for Tokyo Sushi. Most times I come alone an hour before closing and get a seat at the bar almost immediately. This visit, I was astonished to find 36 people on the waitlist with only an hour left. At that late point they hand out order sheets while you're waiting, which for groups still not seated means placing a MEGA order as soon as you sit down, followed by a rushed scarfing-down session as the staff begins closing up shop. The menu is quite large with heavy overlap with the menus at most other AYCE places. Roll selection is good and popular, as I look to either side, I'm appreciative of most patrons filling up on rolls commonly made with fake Krab (same stuff in frozen fish sticks), deep-fried ingredients, and generous applications of mayo and eel or teriyaki sauce. These cost the restaurant far less than a steady stream of nigiri, effectively subsidizing the roughly $120 worth of assorted nigiri I'm about to consume for about a third of that price. To each their own. The rice was perfectly seasoned and properly cooked, the most important part of sushi, though on one previous visit it leaned a bit too sweet. The fish tasted good, and the fish-to-rice ratio is better than at most competing spots. Service attentiveness can vary but on average is typically solid with a call button you can press. The combination of a packed dining room and upbeat music makes the place LOUD and festive, with sports on two large-screen TVs that appeal to the younger Midtown crowd. The downside is that carrying on a conversation in a larger group can be challenging. The bar refrigerator sits high enough that you can't really watch the chefs work, and when combined with the noise and possibly a language barrier, forget about chatting with the sushi chef. Food-wise, it's easy to place Tokyo Sushi in Reno's top three AYCE options, though you'll pay a few dollars more than average at roughly $45 per person with tax and tip as of June 2026. Its extreme popularity, however, fills the parking lot and creates wait times capable of testing almost anyone's patience. Waiting over an hour during peak dinner service is not uncommon, and the crowded waiting area may leave you standing outside or sitting in your car. Hungry couples and groups may want to consider less busy alternatives, especially on a 90+ degree summer day or when winter "rolls" around.

I ordered two rolls, the negi toro roll and the fire ocean roll. I literally have pictures of both because the rice to fish ratio is a complete joke for what they are charging you. It was basically a giant mountain of rice with a tiny sliver of fish hidden inside. The food could have been salvageable but the service was also bad. I was given two sushi rolls with no soy sauce plate, no chopsticks and no napkins. I had to sit there staring at my food while it sat warm on the table. I also ordered edamame and it's a miracle that you can dry something out by steaming it. It was completely shriveled and uneditable. To top it all off, none of the hosts or waitresses paid attention to me for an extended period of time so I talked to the sushi chefs that spoke no english to help me. 5 stars to them because they actually tried to help me out when the rest of the staff ignored me, but unfortunately it doesn't really help the restaurant.
