I never heard about this place till very recently through words of month. Gave this AYCE a try and found the place quite to my liking. The sushi rolls are on the smaller side but thats a great thing for AYCE as you have the chance to try out more varieties. The sushi arrangements were visually catchy, the quality solid and I was pleasantly surprised by their green apple sushi. The service was quick and prompt. The restaurant was clean and comfy. Fish is not fresh. Rolls poorly made. Spicy tuna roll was just a tuna roll with sriracha squirted on it. No wasabi on the nigiri. The only thing that didn't taste questionable was the albacore and the fake crab but that's basically just the sushi equivalent of a hot dog. read more

With our go to spot for lunch sushi being closed, we headed back to O'A for a second try. I'm so grateful to have been forced back here and this go around to have AYCE instead of ala carta. Service was stellar, and attentive. We sat at the bar and I was entertained by the artistry of each hand roll or nigiri we ordered. And let me just say, the hamachi (yellow tail) was smoothly delish and had me ordering more. The sake (salmon) nigiri and Donald Duck however had me eating far more than I planned as I could not resist a second round. I was a bit dissuaded from trying several hand rolls by the sweet potato garnish listed on the menu. Toward the end of my feeding frenzy I was brave and tried one, man, I was off on what I envisioned. It is crispy little strips of sweet potato that adds a sweetness and crunch. This place is awesome and only a few miles from my office. A few days before Christmas I had my heart set on some to-go sushi lunch. I wound up needing to work from home that afternoon so I offered to grab some sushi for my wife as well. We went a tad crazy and my "to-go lunch" turned into $80 of yumminess for us. I placed the order online. When I arrived they said it would be ready soon. The chef had waited until I arrived to ask me about one of the rolls. I had asked for no spicy crab. He assured me it wasn't spicy and even scooped up some on a plate for me to try. He was right - not spicy at all. He loaded up my roll, packed up everything else and I was on my way shortly. Everything was packed perfectly so it arrived safely at home. My wife and I dug in and everything was spectacular. The quality of the fish really set them apart - everything had great texture and flavor. I tried 3 different rolls and they were all delicious. We also had appetizers and individual pieces. I can't wait to head into this place and do dine in since the chef was so fantastic. I thought the prices were on point for to-go. I just need to realize my appetite is better suited for dine-in all you can eat if I am trying to save some money. =) read more

Venturing out of my comfort zone.. can sometimes good and sometimes bad.. Today was a day of should of had a sandwich for lunch.. I'm glad there's another restaurant in the shopping strip.. Ordered a black dragon, unagi, seaweed salad and sashimi.. and a salmon skin hand roll-kept falling apart.. Sashimi was suppose to include rice and soup.. So we asked and the server forgot..finally arrived.. I'm sorry, but you cannot eat sashimi with long grain rice!!!! Presentation was none, except the lemon slice.. We didn't see the sign for the O'A sushi restaurant from the parking lot only O'A Chinese, so we assumed they were the same but actually its attached to the sushi spot right next door. Didn't seem like much from the outside look of it but inside was very neat and clean, boasts a large sushi bar and has sleek black on black decor throughout. We tried a few things here this evening my son and I and we were delighted by how fresh everything tasted! The rice to fish portions were spot on. The rolls were just the right size, not crazy big to where you can't eat a slice in one bite. The service was fast and they were very nice. I found their hand rolls interesting bc instead of your typical seaweed wrap they used a spinach rice paper. It was light, something different and I quite enjoyed it. Also their chopsticks were nicely rounded and totally smooth! No splintering wood! That's a big thumbs up in the sushi world I think. I think this is great new addition to our area. We wanted to try a new sushi place and my coworker suggested this place and this place did not disappoint. Definitely recommended this place! The inside is nice with a sushi bar, a good amount of seating and the service is great. The servers check on you often and the food came out fast even when they are busy. It all tasted fresh and was delightful. The mussels have this broth like sauce on it and I really liked it and they were good sized. They have a large variety of rolls to choose from which I liked but made it hard to decide! The rolls are smaller than a lot of sushi places but I preferred it! Not as much rice meaning we were able to get more rolls since we did AYCE. The No Name #1 was my favorite roll and so we got it twice. It had sweet potato shavings on it which sounds weird but it was so good! Try it! The miso soup wasn't too salty which is something I worry about and it was delicious. When it was time for dessert, they only offer ice cream. I wanted the green tea but they sold out. The vanilla ice cream is good though. The waiter had a good sense of humor and was helpful. While I used to really enjoy OA. They have gone down hill fast. I would say the biggest issue is on to go orders. You could order 10 days in advance for a set time to pick up and when you get there, the food won't even have been started. It is ridiculous to set a pickup time and then always make you wait 25 minutes. Terrible business plan. read more

First time trying this spot. The service was good despite them being rather busy, but the sushi was mediocre at best. It was edible, but not particularly fresh, and all of the rolls were uninspiring. The udon dish we ordered came out long after the rest of our food, and the sushi chefs forgot to make 2 of the nigiri rolls that were on the order. They were brought out quickly after we asked about it at least. If I could give them 3.5 stars I would as the pricing was at least reasonable, but I'd happily pay more for better quality sushi. read more

What a great surprise for a sushi restaurant in a strip mall! The reviews on Yelp did not lie! The fish was so fresh and the rolls themselves were very well done. The staff was attentive and the restaurant itself smelled so good from the moment we walked in, so it was easy to tell they were cranking our great food. They have unique items. The sweet potato seemed strange but they grate it over the rolls and it is a crispy delicate surprise. We went for lunch and they do have the "dinner" rolls. This place had some great options for appetizers and had a great lunch price. Some of the appetizers had so much breading and I wasn't a fan of the gyoza. The donald duck nigiri was delicious, as well as their salmon. I also enjoyed fried ice cream for dessert which a lot of sushi places here in Reno don't offer. Friday AYCE Lunch ~12PM I've been wanting to try this place so here we are! They're in the Mira Loma plaza so it's easy parking (always a plus) Not many people were dining when we arrived so we were able to pick our own seats (bar, of course!). The very friendly owner/host seated us promptly and we were able to start our orders with the sushi chef right away. The place is clean and service was quick. Some favorites were the Rainbow hand roll, Goofy nigiri (tempura salmon), and Black Tiger long roll. The tuna tasted a little off so I avoided that the rest of the meal, but everything else was good. The fish:rice ratio was generous and the rolls weren't TOO big where you're stuffed after 1 or 2. We were feeling rushed by our server who kept asking us if we were ready for dessert when we were obviously still eating sushi, but other than that, it was a good lunch. We'll try to come back on a weekday for some free alchy and see how that goes :) read more

I'm a huge fan of O'A Chinese food so I was eager to try their sushi side. Their menu is pretty expansive but if you don't like spicy food or cream cheese, you might be a little pressed to find something on their menu. They were rather busy on a Tuesday night, but they kept up with our orders quickly and were constantly taking away our dirties and filling out water. They were definitely staffed well and were able to accommodate the several sushi and Chinese food customers they had. The rolls were alright, they were on the smaller side, which was good for being able to try a lot of them without getting full too quickly. But their fish is cut VERY thinly and gets a little lost in the flavor profiles of a lot of the rolls. I did appreciate their creativity but not everything worked. Overall, the sushi was decent and if I'm in the area, I think I'd come in again. But there's definitely better sushi places in town with better quality food for the same price. read more
