Seriously? Where have you been all my life?! This place is terrific! We stopped in on a whim and were so happy with our experience and food! Our waitress was great, got our food out quickly and made sure everything was the way we asked. Everything we ordered was delicious- especially the sweet potato fries- soooo good! The chicken marsala was excellent, we also had the Irish egg rolls and cream of broccoli soup (soup was a special) which were fantastic! I also really liked that the booths in the bar area also had their own tv's in addition to all of the tv's over the bar and in the restaurant area showing various games/fights. They are easily located right on Forest Ave. and have their own parking lot. Definitely try this place out if you are in the area. The place needs a new up lift and it's very dark and dreary in the place it has old uncomfortable booths and the place smells funny. Well, am I ever glad this place replaced the dugout. Came in for lunch and sat at the bar. Brian our bartender, was attentive and friendly. 10 beers on tap, ranging from Blue Moon Ginger bread to Stella. Had the beef barley soup, which was made from scratch and delicious. Fresh barley, vegetables and meat. The kale veggie burger was one of the best veggie burgers I ever ate. Fresh and homemade and not a frozen hockey puck. Served with sweet potato fries all for $10! The decor is Irish Disney chic. It's a little bizarre, but a massive improvement to the linoleum tile lunch room feel of Dugout. The bar is a nice piece of reclaimed wood. I was so impressed with this place! The inside is renovated beautifully with a warm finish. We were seated immediately. I thought our waitress was a little abrupt and less than friendly (which was a little uncomfortable), but thankfully, the food made up for that. To start, we had fried calamari and hummus with pita bread. Delicious! The fried calamari was crispy and delicious. The hummus was amazing!! I feel like good homemade hummus is difficult to find and it was great. The pita was hot and yummy. We had burgers and I had a chicken francese hero with mozzarella and it was delicious! It came with a delicious sauce and such good fries! I was so pleased with the food here. I can't wait to go back and try something else! Highly recommend. The only reason they lost one star was our waitress and the temperature didn't seem to be regulated. It was very cold when we arrived and then became stuffy towards the end. We used the groupon brunch deal. For appetizer we had the Irish beef rolls which were super good. For entrees, we had the steak & eggs and chicken pot pie. The steak lacked a little flavor for me and was a little hard to chew but my boyfriend enjoyed it. So to each it's own. My chicken pot pie was delicious, I haven't had a pot pie in a long time, it was exactly what I was expecting, rich in flavor, fresh and yummy. Can't wait to have it again. The service was good too, our waitress was very sweet and professional. Every time came on time and she checked in with us every now & then. This is the first time we visit since moving to SI. This place is really cool. I love the fact that they have a personal tv in each booth showing sports. Their service is great and the brunch menu is dynamite. My boyfriend ate the steak and eggs in which he continually gloated about as he ate and i had the blackened shrimp cesar salad which was delicious. I love O'Neills! I love their cool library decor and it's clean! I only tried one of their brunch items which was the steak but it was massive. I couldn't finish it. Bacon was on point though- not greasy, perfectly crisp. I usually come here for a quick beer and drink time off peak hours which makes this place enjoyable. I've tried and liked their lobster Mac and cheese, bangers and mash, fish and chips, and had a couple of their burgers. Their bakes clams are SOO GOOD. I haven't tried anything to complain about. Keith, the owner is so friendly and when we came by for some drink time on New Year's Day he was so accommodating to me and my group. We didn't feel rushed which is always nice. This Irish restaurant/pub is phenomenal!!! The atmosphere is spot on to what you would expect to see. We sat in a booth which was so personal for us, the back support part of it is so high you can't see anything behind you! I loved that. Also in the booths you get a personal tv if you're a fan of any sports which is super convent and the set up is just adorable with some Irish books, etc. The menu is just about one of the best menus I've ever seen. So much variety & such great prices! Especially if you use the yelp/Groupon deal ($25 for $40 voucher) it is great! We got the Mac and cheese burger on an English muffin, corned beef sandwich, fried pickles & 2 cokes and after the voucher only ended up paying $3.50 for everything! O'Neills is always hit or miss. I go once in a while, and have had both good and bad experiences there. Overall, the food is very good. The mac and cheese, and lobster mac and cheese are outstanding. The sandwiches are very good, and I had their Cajun Chicken Salad, which I'd order again. However, if there is one thing you need to avoid there, if you like anything less than well done, it's the burgers. The patties are definitely fresh, and flavorful. BUT the chef seems to only know one temperature-well done. I asked for my Dublin Works to be medium, my wife asked for her Jack Daniels to be medium-well. We both got well done. And every burger I have eaten there has come out well done. The beer- every time I have gotten a Blue Moon there, it tasted as though the lines weren't cleaned. The service- I wouldn't call it good, wouldn't call it bad. More like "indifferent." I have had good and bad there, but in my last visit, indifferent was definitely accurate. My server spent more time at the bar talking then checking on tables. It was frustrating, given my burger was overcooked. It was probably the only time I had one beer, half of a burger, and left. Had there not been indifference, the experience could have been better, amd while I gave a 3 star review, 2 1/2 is more accurate. Had I posted this review three years ago, it'd probably get 4. AWFUL!!! A group of 6 went in...ordered fries and cocktails ( tap beer, whisky shot and wine... pretty basic stuff). The waitress approached our table ... no greeting, ..and proceeded to pour us 1/2 glass of water each. Then left. Returned and took our order. The fries arrived from the kitchen but our waitress was MIA for over an hour. When we finally hailed her down and politely asked about our order, she informed us they were short staffed and our drinks were on the way. Still no drinks. I finally went to the bar and she was behind the bar. She again stressed they were short staffed... I informed her we had waited patiently for an hour. She couldn't have cared less . I said we'd pass on the drinks and asked for the bill for the fries. She had the nerve to tell me "drinks or no, we are still short staffed so it'll be a while til I can get you your check". I understand the staff shortages caused by Covid... but if you have a customer based job, at least pretend to appreciate customers and lose the uppity tide.
