COVID-19 WARNING! My husband (who is in his 80s and at high risk) was shopping at O'Reilly's Auto Parts store on Freedom Blvd. in Watsonville and the cashier wasn't wearing a mask. When he was asked about it he says he doesn't believe in them. Apparently they don't require customers to wear them either. We won't be going back. I would suggest finding your parts elsewhere. read more

I'm going to keep this review short and simple; I ordered a tool set online from O'Reilly and i did not recieve the product that I purchased, the return process was so easy. I told them what happened and they were willing to make it right. I ended up buying a better one than the one I originally wanted Performance 20 Piece SAE, Metric Tool Set. What's happened to customer service these days? I came to buy a battery. There were two people working and nobody in the store. I explain my car was running, because I just had my car jumped due to my battery failing on my 2029 truck and I wanted to buy a new battery. I asked if somebody could install it for me. The gentleman behind the counter said nobody could install it for me until after 130 because an employee was was at lunch yet, there were two people behind the counter and nobody in the store. Fine no big deal I'll purchased a battery and take it home and have my husband install it for me. after purchasing the battery, there was no thank you, come again, or any type of gratitude for purchasing $222 worth of merchandise. I find it disheartening to spend my hard earned money and not greeted with a smiling face or thanks for being a customer. read more

As any business goes, it's really only as good as the service they provide. Every time I've ever been here I've had great customer service! The parts people are always knowledgeable and are quick to point out the variations in quality of parts. Their selection is good and I love the new rewards program! The customer service sucks. I wouldn't expect the store to have every single part I need but the reason I went here is because I checked online and their store said they have it. I live 20 minutes 1 one way from this one. I show up, wait my turn and tell the guy what I want. Even showed the picture. What I pointed at on their computer screen is not what he grabbed. He even printed out the part number. I couldn't tell until I got home and opened the box to find it was the wrong type. I take it back to get the right one and need and a couple of belts. The girl that helped me didn't. I mean it took her forever to come up with 3 entirely different belts. I brought the used ones with me as a reference. I don't know why they hire people that don't know anything about cars and can't pull parts accurately off the shelf. What I do know is, this store won't be getting any more of my business. read more

On Sunday morning, September 4, I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts on Freedom Blvd. to buy an oil filter for my car. The store was formerly Kragen Auto Parts, and has since been remodeled. The door that used to be the main entrance to Kragen had a sign that said "Entrada Principal" with an arrow pointing to another door. I am not a Spanish speaker and it took a few moments to figure out what the sign meant. I wondered why the sign was not also in English. Should I assume that they do not care whether I find the entrance to the store, and that my money is not welcome there because I speak English? Or should I assume maybe the sign is implying "Latinos Only?" Or maybe was it just an innocent oversight on their part? I entered the store, quickly selected my oil filter and went up to the counter where two bilingual Latino clerks were helping two Spanish-speaking Latino customers. Note that I am of half Latino decent, but most people perceive my appearance as white. I stood in front of the cash register obviously ready to buy one simple item. I waited for an easy ten minutes while watching the clerks leisurely converse with the other customers, walk around the store and answer the phone, totally ignoring me. Finally, I crossed my arms, loudly cleared my throat and tried to look visibly perturbed. The female clerk then asked me, "Are you going to pay for that?" I was tempted to respond, "No lady, I have been standing at the cash register for 10 minutes because I plan on shoplifting it!" Instead, I replied, "Well, I was hoping to eventually." Hopefully this experience is not indicative that the racially divisive politics that have infested the local Watsonville government have gone viral and and now spreading to our businesses! I've been a regular customer at this specific location for the past 2-3 years with never any complaints. I've maybe had to to bring back one faulty water pump in which is pretty good considering how much money I spend there. A couple weeks ago I ordered a cylinder head which was supposed to arrive today, 10/23. I called the store 3 times this morning to see if or when it would arrive. Initially they couldn't find the order all together. Then they said it might be there at the store so they'd look and call me back. I waited 40 minutes for a call and figured they would've found it by now. I called and was hung up on so I went to the store personally. The excuse goes as follows: " Oh, yeah... power torque is [like] really busy and backed up with orders so it'll be here the 4th of November." I replied okay, thank you (clearly frustrated) and left the store. Seemed to me that they didn't place the order. So now I'll be waiting an additional week and a half and continue to lack a mode of transportation. read more

Went there to get something for my car The employee helping wasn't very helpful she basically said here are your choices what do you want. There are other employees 3 or 4 just goofing off, as my receipt started printing she answers a call and starts chatting on the phone. I just went here today to get a license plate holder for my front plate... I got a ticket for not having a front plate, and the guy in line behind me was getting the same thing because he ALSO just received a ticket for a missing front plate... I seriously didn't even realize they were required, but if you don't have one... beware! anyway... I digress... The young man at the register took a look at my old banged up license plate holder and pulled out some tools from under the counter and showed me how I could re-attach the old plate holder with a few alterations which required the purchase of $2 screws which is sweet because the license plate holders are like 25 bucks! Then he told me to hang out until he waited on the few customers in the store, and he would help me put it back on! Such great service... nice guy... awesome experience! I know nothing about working on cars, so they aren't going to be able to retire off my business... but I will always get my car products at this store because good customer service is the number one thing that brings me back again and again! read more

Great store and employees. I went in to grab a few things and had to use their store system to look up the specifics (wiper blade number, oil weight, etc) and it worked like clockwork. I even had one of the workers help me install the blades since it's the first time I had done it on a new car and didn't want to mess it up. Everything was in stock, where it should be, and the workers were very nice (one was even bending over backwards to help another customer enact a warranty process for his battery while I was there) read more

As with most Kragens in Santa Cruz county, there are like 1-2 car people who work there, and the rest are just your average clerks who would otherwise work at Target or Burger King. The store is large, and well kept, but if you need anything out of the ordinary or need some advice, you might have to wait a while to get helped by that one car person on duty, but otherwise it's a decent store. read more

Three days before a road trip to Yellowstone National Park, while prepping my truck for the trip, I discovered that the rear differential gears had to be replaced. I called places from A to Z, from Salinas to Livermore, and this store was the one to have any in stock. Christopher pulled the parts and upon comparing new to old, they didn't look 100% the same. So, Christopher made calls to his suppliers, he pulled tools off the shelf to take measurements of the old parts to compare to the new parts. When that didn't pan out, his manager called the manufacturer directly for verification. The manufacturer verified the they were the correct set, and I walked out of the store with the parts I needed. During all of this, the store was packed with people, they still took the time to provide me with the level of customer service I needed, while helping the rest of the customers in the store. Christopher and his manager went out if their way to make sure I got the parts that I needed!!!! I'm extremely grateful for every mile of our 2200 mile road trip, across 5 states and back, that their help made happen! read more
