But, their prices are 5% to 10% less than other auto parts chain stores too! And, the parts are name-brand quality items, not cheap discount trash! Trust me, you don't save anything by using the cheapest parts! You end up doing the job over again and paying TWICE rather than spending a little more the first time! Cheap imported parts may not even fit, or work as they should. So, get the best parts that you can find! YADIRA (young female) helped me today and she definitely went out of her way to find exactly what I needed. She spent 7 and 8 minutes in the back looking, rather than just saying we don't have it, which is what so many other people would have said. Yadira earns a AAA+ rating for her proficiency and work ethic! Excellent customer-service skills, which is definitely rare in this day and age! But, be sure to use this NAPA store, not the one in Stanton. Because the manager at that location is the exact OPPOSITE of helpful. They carry specialty items here too, that chain stores simply do not stock because of low sales volume. I purchased anti-seize compound, which prevents threaded fasteners from becoming corroded and hard to disassemble. Most stores do not have that item. All in all, if you repair your own vehicle, then this is your best source for whatever you need. If they don't have it, they will order it. As a vehicle owner, the more you can do for yourself, the better off you will be. Auto repair shops use a time-based compensation system, so the technicians struggle to complete the job in the time they are paid for. What that means is they often rush, and eliminate anything that can be skipped. It's not uncommon to find missing fasteners that were never replaced. The technicians have no time to do careful work and you, the vehicle owner, will suffer as a result of that. Also, making your own repairs will save you MONEY, as well. Most likely hundreds of dollars, since shop labor time runs around $200 per hour or more. Plus, your vehicle will be more reliable as well, because you are the one staying on top of the service needs. If you're a beginner, there are two excellent sources for information to guide you through most repairs. First, you can buy the repair manual for your specific vehicle. It will show you everything with the possible exception of rebuilding the transmission, because that is a complicated job. YouTube also has videos that show you the exact steps needed to do common repairs. I urge you to watch a video first, and see someone else doing it, before you begin. Even if you just do oil changes yourself, you end up saving money and time! So, don't hesitate to tackle the common repairs that your vehicle requires. Buy latex gloves, so your hands stay clean! And, definitely safety glasses too, to protect your eyes. Learn all the safety requirements as well, like no loose hair or clothing when you are working on a running engine. If you're brand-new to using hand tools, there are books and videos that show you how to get started. So, don't assume you lack the skills to do most basic auto repairs. The money you save on labor will pay for all the tools and repair equipment that you will need. You are really investing in what's needed to keep your car in good operating condition. Most people do NOT do any of this. They simply drive their car until something is clearly wrong and then they pay outrageous prices to get it repaired. That's the most expensive way to go! BTW, this store carries high-quality VACUUM HOSE too! Not the cheap Chinese stuff that you find in other stores! One of the best things you can do is to inspect all of your rubber hoses and belts, especially if your car is 5 years old or more! Engine-compartment heat takes a toll on rubber belts and hoses and it's not uncommon to have vacuum leaks in rubber hoses that have cracked. If you have a check-engine warning light on, it's possible that the fault is from a vacuum leak in a worn-out rubber line. Fluids have a lifespan as well. The coolant. The brake fluid. The transmission oil. All of these things should be changed after years of use. The only downside of this store is that you must pay in advance for items that are not in stock. And, that's because people call and request special-order items and then fail to come and make the purchase, leaving the store holding an item that they do not normally stock. But, other than that, I'd say you can't go wrong with this store and these counter workers! Much better than average, is the score I'd give them. While the vehicle was on the lift, the experience shifted from a routine service to a series of significant red flags. Deceptive Diagnostics: A service advisor named Jose showed me torn CV boots and torn boots on the struts. He then pointed to a groove on the inner face of the driver-side front rotor (the side closest to the engine) and pointed at the brake pads, claiming I required a complete brake replacement on all four wheels. As someone who replaced my front brakes less than a year ago and knows the condition of my vehicle, I could see clearly that the pads still had plenty of life and did not need replacement. Despite using the "damaged" rotor as his primary evidence for a massive repair bill, he never once mentioned replacing or resurfacing that specific rotor in his recommendation. It was a clear attempt at a predatory and unnecessary upsell. Documentation & Transparency Issues: I was told I needed a radiator cap, two front axles, all four struts, and full brakes. When I requested an itemized price list to review the cost of parts vs. labor for the $3,400 quote, I was handed a small, hand-torn scrap of paper itemized breakdown is unprofessional and fails to meet the transparency standards required by the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). Between the deceptive "faulty" brake pads and the lack of proper documentation, I can only conclude that they thought I was a dumb person who knew nothing about cars because I am a women I can no longer trust this shop. I brought my 2018 Ford Explorer in for a recall service about a month and a half ago. Before taking it in, my driver's seat was working properly and was adjusted to a higher position. When I picked up my vehicle, the seat was noticeably lower than where I had left it, would no longer raise properly, and was making a noise that had not been present before. I immediately brought it to the dealership's attention and did not even leave the Ford lot because it affected my visibility while driving. As someone who transports my children daily, this is a safety concern. During my conversation with the Service Director, Steven, he explained that they did not yet know what had happened and that an investigation would be needed. He discussed that vehicle handling during service could be one of the possibilities being reviewed. Because of that conversation, I expected a thorough investigation and a clear explanation of how the final conclusion was reached. I was later contacted to schedule another appointment. The dates offered did not work because of my work schedule, so I asked if I could bring the vehicle in on a day I had off. I was told the service department was extremely busy and that there was a good chance my vehicle would not be looked at that day, but that I was welcome to bring it in. I brought my vehicle in, and approximately two hours later I received a call stating the issue was due to wear and tear and internal binding of the seat motor. What was frustrating was how quickly a definitive conclusion seemed to be reached after I had just been told there likely would not be time for a full inspection that day because they were already booked with service appointments. I asked several questions, including whether the condition of the seat had been documented before service, whether the seat position was noted during intake, whether camera footage or vehicle handling had been reviewed, and what specific steps were taken during the investigation. I never received answers to those questions. My concern has always been simple: the seat was functioning properly before the recall service and was not functioning properly when it was returned to me. Even if the dealership believes the issue is wear and tear, I never received an explanation as to how that conclusion was reached or what investigation was performed to rule out other possibilities. Steven later informed me that Ford Corporate would be contacted and that a Ford representative would review the situation. I was told I would receive an update afterward. I followed up multiple times by email, documented my safety concerns, and even stopped by the dealership in person. During that visit, I was told Steven was not there and that no other manager was available, that they come in when they want. It has now been over a month and a half, and I still have not received a response, update, or follow-up regarding the corporate review. At this point, my biggest disappointment is the lack of communication and follow-through. If a customer is told there will be an investigation, a corporate review, and a follow-up, then there should be follow-up. I would appreciate transparency, clear communication, and answers to my questions. More importantly, I would like this issue properly addressed and resolved. I simply expected better customer service, especially with a concern that affects safe driving and the safety of my children and myself.
