My first trip to Oak Barrel was fantastic! Wasn't too busy for a Saturday night but service was spot on. We sat at the bar and we ordered some drinks right away. I really enjoy that their draft list included quite a few local brews. The menu was your typical pub/bar type foods. Burgers, salads, sandwiches - lots of things to choose from without being overwhelming. I settled on the pastrami sandwich with sweet potato tots and man, I'm so glad I did. Pastrami came with Swiss and spicy mustard. The pastrami itself was awesome (not fatty or chewy which happens far too often) and the tots were to die for. Great service, great food. My mother and I visited this place last week. It was my third time and her first. We had meatloaf, Buffalo chicken dip, and slow-roasted prime rib. The dip was especially excellent, with a flavorful sauce and mildly crispy pita chips. The prime rib was alright, but didn't have a terribly distinctive taste. The meatloaf was excellent, served over a bed of mashed potatoes with just the right amount of sauce. I'd been here before and I would come back again, keep it up! read more

In one word... FANTASTIC... from start to finish. We, a family of five + service dog. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. The manager brought our dog a bowl of water. We were seated at a table that was accommodating for our son, who has special needs. The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. The finishing touch... our son, who is non-verbal, became very attached to his "fry basket." Hugging it, indicating that he could not live without it. As parents, we stressed about how to make a smooth exit without causing a disturbance to our fellow diners. The waitress quietly slid us a bag and insisted we let him bring the fry basket home. The manager then came by with a larger one to add to his "collection." A parting gift that made this boy's mother cry, his teenage brothers smile in awe of a simple kindness, his father left speechless. This was more than a dinner out. This was a memory. This restaurant is so-so. My husband and I are not a fan of chain food, we prefer the freshness of non-chain restaurants. But it's not horrible or anything. We really love the fried pickles and peppers. Burgers are good. Haven't had anything we really disliked. The big drawback is how cold the restaurant is. Unfortunately it is too cold for comfort. Food comes out nice and hot but cools down way too quickly because of how cold it is. Have to keep a sweater or jacket on entire time. Such a bummer. I have been here to eat three times in the past two weeks and spent well over 500 dollars and every time it is been great until today when I asked to have the grilled chicken sandwich with mozzarella instead of Munster cheese the sandwich was great but when I got my bill they charged me 499 for a piece of mozzarella cheese. Have been a couple time since they opened. Let me start by saying the restaurant is completely different than Tweeds...In a good way. The place is beautiful. A lot of money was spent on renovations. High top tables in Bar area. About 4 round tables in the back. a nice sitting area in front of the fireplace to have some drinks and appetizers. I've had sandwiches and burgers so far. All were good. My wife has had there dinner salads there were also very good. If there was a complaint that i would have is that it is on the loud side. Not really sure why cause Tweeds was never really that loud. And I would say its a bit on the pricey side for entrees and such. If the prices were a bit lower i would have probably given them 5 stars. You have to check out the bar top. We came in at around 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. There was a short wait for a table, which we anticipated. The interior of the restaurant is COMPLETELY different from what it used to be when it was Tweed's. I didn't notice many booths. Most are high-top tables with chairs and some are low tables with chairs. We sat at a high-top table, which I found to be uncomfortable. It's also very loud. We had to yell across the table to hear each other. We ordered our drinks and while my Diet Pepsi came out right away, the other member of my party waited more than ten minutes for his beer. We placed our order and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered a wrap with onion rings and he ordered a salad. He enjoyed his salad, and my wrap was pretty good. I ordered the onion rings because they are listed as an "OBT Signature" menu item. They were cold and chewy. There was nothing "signature" about them; I was underwhelmed. We ordered dessert to share. We ordered a brownie with ice cream. The ice cream came out a soupy mess. The waitress said it was because they warmed up the brownie. If that's the case, maybe they should re-evaluate the execution of the dessert. Maybe there were a few flaws because they're still new, and I'll probably be back, but my first experience here wasn't a good one. read more

Came here on a Thursday evening for a work get together, since we work right down the road. At first glance, it was a nice upgrade. Our party was 11 people and they weren't even equipped for. Four of us showed up first and wasn't served right away, which is kinda of annoying. They are a new place, figured they be all over the customers. Ordered a sangria and took one sip and regret my choice! It was more wine then fruit blah! Waitress at one point comes over and says " alright who's getting drinks? We visited here for an early dinner one night. The interior was done over very well and the place looked very nice. The three of us there all agreed the food was good but nothing fantastic. Perfect casual restaurant, really enjoyed this place. What really impressed us was how fresh the food was and how much thought went into the overall presentation. We had the Ahi tuna rice bowl and fish tacos - the tuna was cooked perfectly and was definitely sushi grade, and the fish tacos had these flour tortillas that were very fresh but not floppy making them easy to eat - both dishes were delicious. I stopped in tonight with my wife to check the place out and see how it compares to the old Tweeds. Although I miss Tweeds the renovation results here are impressive. We didn't order any drinks today, but I'm excited to come back and try a bunch of them. The menu looked delicious and was full of comfort food... it was difficult to choose what to eat! We were happy with what we ordered. My boyfriend stopped talking to me after his wedge salad with steak tips came as he was preoccupied with his meal ( I mean, not in a rude way). I ordered bacon burger with fries, both of which were delicious, with the exception that the bacon was overcooked and the burger was medium-well despite being ordered at medium. These are minor inconveniences and I didn't even bother to mention it to the server because it was so delicious anyway. The slightly off preparation of my meal and the fact that they serve Pepsi products are what knocked my rating down to four stars. Went here about a week ago (Sunday) and had a bad experience. We called ahead for a grroup of eIght and were told there was no wait, to come right over. When we arrived we were told they made a mistake and the taBle they were going to use was too small and the manager said no. We then waited 30 minutes for a table. We would have gone elsewhere if they had accurately given us that info. They finally seated us. Then no server came over at all for about 15-20 more minutes, until we complained. FInally they sent our server, James. He was nice and hard work but maybe covering too many tables as he was running around the whole time and it was haRd to flag him. We didn't get our drinks for a very long time, and when we asked, we were told they were out of clean cups and we needed to wait until they could clean some. The people who ordered coffees gOt the coffee but no cream or sugar until we asked. The food was decent which is why I gave two stars. Second time in a rOw that we've had a bad experience. Saturday night the place was crowded but only waited 20 min for our table for two. Our waitress was prompt. We ordered our entree's immediately since we had our drinks from the bar. Our table was against a half wall partition. The table of four was basically right on top of us. Literally every time a person walked between our tables they had to walk sideways to get by! With that being said our table shook when people walked by. My entree was good however my husbands prime rib was rare when he wanted med well. He also got a handful of tater tots without a vegetable!! When the waitress came to check on us I asked her if a vegetable comes with his entree and she said he only gets one side.
