Went for a late lunch, after any potential rush. The first impression was from the hostess, who attempted to seat us at a small wall bound 2 top when there were at least 8 open 4 tops. We asked to be seated at a 4 top, to which she agreed with a huge eye roll, no bueno customer service. After that confrontation with arrogance, everything else was excellent. So we asked to speak to a manager at multiple points but turns out the manager quit and no one wanted to step up and they all avoided it. Nothing but excuses and then we asked to cancel our order and simply leave. An hour and 45 minutes later we ended up having to pay for multiple sodas and Alfredo we never ordered. The first time we went to Oak Wood I had the steak-frites and it was great. The pizza we ordered was almost inedible, soggy in the middle and the flavors were not complimentary. The chicken wings were really good though so we decided to go again and it was extremely disappointing. The wings had absolutely no flavor at all, it was very odd. I ordered the steak-frites again, medium rare, and the steak I got was beyond well done. I didn't eat it because it was hard to chew so I just ate my fries (which were good). Pizza again was not cooked in the middle so we just left it. Gave it a try a third time and the pasta I ordered had so much water in the bottom I didn't eat it. It use to be really amazing! The last few times have been mediocre food. This will be the final time I come. Wings under seasoned and chewy, pizza was ok, salad was good, cookie under cooked which I appreciate that they comped. Service was servers socializing instead of doing work. To start we waited 35 minutes when they had tables at the bar and tables open. When we asked they said that they text the person and wait for them to come. Really! There was an open table for 20 minutes. After getting the table we ordered quickly. For appetizer we ordered calamari which they had to cancel because the fryer wasn't good and the bread would not stick to the calamari. We also ordered steak with vegetables which was supposed to be medium. As you can see in the picture it was medium well with some well done areas and only carrots for vegetables; broken plate included. I have to say that she took it out of the check. It took a long time to get all our food. I think they have a new manager because we been here before and never had problems. I hope they can take this in a way for improvement. I wish I could give Oak Wood Fire Kitchen a glowing review, but honestly, our experience wasn't that great. I'll start with the positive, my husband loved my son's kid cheese pizza. And I loved the fried cauliflower so so much. But the problem was our entrees. My husband loved my son's pizza, but he hated his pasta so much he sent it back (something we never do). And my turkey sandwich was equally bad. I didn't want to send two things back, but I could barely finish it. It was bland and the flavor just wasn't there. So this place doesn't look like much from the outside or when you walk in. However, the food and alcohol selection are AMAZING!!! Our server, Logan, really made our experience. Best service we have had in ages. We seriously tipped him 50%, that's how fabulous he was. I can't remember when I tipped like that last. He makes these "Logan Nuts," which aren't beignets or donut holes, but they are still very good. Ask for Logan if you want them for dessert. We decided to go with the spaghetti anyways and forgo the meatballs. We also ordered the wild mushroom pizza, and as an appetizer the goat cheese and bread. Spaghetti- first this dish looked nothing like the pictures on yelp. The noodles hardly had any sauce, plus a lot of water was left on the bottom of the bowl. Worst part was, it was all room temperature. I was a little frustrated on this one when we got the bill because even though it did not come with meatballs, we were charged full price. Wild mushroom pizza was good. I would give this a 3 if reviewing it alone. Flavors were there. My only complaint would be that it had no crisp to it. It was a soft pizza. Goat cheese appetizer would get a 5 on its own. It was very good. Overall all service was good. I do wish the bill would have been adjusted though. 3 visits now. Each one got progressively worse. Food is actually wonderful, but the service is horrible. I'll give 2 examples: As we entered this 3rd time, host/ waiter, saw us come in and instantly turned around and walked away. Thinking, he would come back any second, we were wrong. His back was toward us for a good 5 minutes, (similar thing happened upon my second visit, but not as long) Finally, a busy waiter sat us quickly. Menus were dirty. Yuk. The last two times, 1 entree was brought well before the others. I don't get this. Today was 20 minute gap. Especially awkward, as it was a business meeting. This was our first visit to Oak Wood Fire Kitchen and it will not be our last. The crispy pork shank was perfectly fall off the bone braised and the Carolina sauce was tangy without being overwhelming. The red pepper flakes in the sauce provided the perfect mild spiciness that had me sopping it up with my fries. My wife ordered the Gorgonzola Steak salad. She did order it rare and it was closer to medium rare. It didn't matter though because it still melted in your mouth. It was also seasoned perfectly with a mild smoke flavor that must have come from the oak fire oven. Finally I couldn't have asked for a more perfect brisket patty. It was juicy and tender without being overly fatty. The only thing that threw me a bit was the bbq sauce. A little too sweet for the rest of the flavor profile. Not a huge deal and still an amazing burger. All in all I look forward to trying other dishes at this amazing restaurant. read more

Oak Wood Fire Kitchen has only been open for 2 weeks and it is already buzzing. My wife and I arrived early around 5:30 and found the place about 1/2 full. We were greeted promptly and were seated at a nice booth. We decided to share the Margarita pizza $8 to start. The crust was very tasty and crisp and I liked the flavorful tomato sauce. The only complaint I had would be the lack to basil, only 3 pieces for the whole pie but I love fresh basil. I will definitely try the Doña Chaya on my next visit. For our entrees the wife had the 1/2 Roasted Chicken and Fries $16 and I had the Petite Pasta $6 and Meatball Sliders $9. The winner by far were the sliders. 3 meatball sliders topped with a nice slice of fresh mozzarella and basil on a toasted bun with more of that delicious tomato sauce. I asked my wife how she enjoyed her chicken and even though she enjoyed the dish she is looking forward to sampling another menu item next time. The total bill for the pizza, sliders, 2 entrees and 1 soda was $55 which included a $10 tip. read more

A nice and casual place for lunch! The staff is nice and friendly upon arrival and throughout the meal. The server was very attentive and was happy to provide suggestions. One complaint would be on the wait time for food to come out. We ordered junk fries for an appetizer and it took a good while for the first course to come out. Afterwards, one entree came out WAY before my pizza was even ready. By the time my pizza came out, I'd polished off the fries and drank so much water that I wasn't hungry anymore. Aside on the food arrival time, the service when the server could help it was quick. The junk fries were great! It came with two different types of sauces, one kind of chipotle/mayo/aioli-ish and the other upon first glance was just ketchup, but it actually had some sort of secret ingredient that gave it a bit of a kick. Delicious. I personally ordered a ham and pineapple pizza upon the server suggestion. It was good with big chunks of pineapple and very cheesy. Although it took a while to come out, it came out piping hot and fresh. The atmosphere of the place is clean and spacious with large TV's for sports fans to hang out. I felt comfortable hanging out here for nice chats and we never felt hurried. I visited the bathroom (rare occasion, public bathrooms are always a gamble), it was VERY clean. I would definitely come back here to try the calamari, honey sriracha wings, and other dishes.
