I came to Oakobing with 2 friends on Thursday night around 10pm, and it was packed. We found free street parking about a block and a half down from the store. There are two self ordering tablets at the front of the table, and some limited seating inside and outside the store. We were lucky to be able to grab a table from a party that just happened to be leaving as we finished ordering. -mango melon shaved ice ($17.51): the pictures don't really do justice to how large this shaved ice is; it was plenty for the three of us to share. It cames with a litle cup of condensed milk to pour over the top, but we only used about half since it was already sweet (but not too sweet) on its own. The melon is perfectly ripe, juicy and sweet too. At the end, I was surprised by how much melon was left in the half that was used as a bowl, and try as we might we were unable to scoop it out with the provided wooden disposable spoons. I asked for another plate or some sort of container to transport the melon, but the workers would only give us a take out container so I flipped the melon upside down onto the plastic plate it was served on and used the takeout container lid to hold the top. The melon ended up being another 2-3 cups worth of fruit that I was able to enjoy as a morning snack :) Oakobing is definitely worth the trip and I can't wait to come back! read more

Oakobing is one of my fave bingsoo spots in SoCal! It was quite cold when I stopped by for dessert but even then it was still pretty busy, though outdoor seating and seating out back near the restroom was still available (I always forget this exists until I inevitably have to go to the restroom LOL). We ordered via kiosk and they called out your name when the order was ready. My two friends and I ordered the matcha bingsoo to share. It was a good size for the three of us: a tottering pile of matcha shaved ice topped with mochi bites and red bean, with a matcha condensed milk drizzle on the side. The shaved ice was not too sweet, and we could definitely taste the matcha flavor. I think the matcha drizzle made this bingsoo a bit more special, and I'm glad it came with that instead of plain condensed milk. The red bean topping was somehow both more liquid and more solid than I was expecting. Instead of mashing up the beans to act as thickener and form a paste, the beans were left more or less solid, making the rest of the sauce watery in comparison. It was still delicious, but I would have preferred it mashed. The mochi were deliciously chewy, always one of my fave toppings for anything tbh. I've also tried the mango and melon bingsoos and those were nice and refreshing, but I think I do prefer the matcha bingsoo now that I've tried it. I am just taking a star off for the plating. And I mean that literally because this gigantic pile of unstable frozen treats was served in a wide, flat plate instead of something deeper like a bowl. As a result, it was a bit difficult to eat, as we had to be careful not to cause any "landslides," so to speak. It also turned into a bit of a team-building activity as we had to work together to scoop up toppings and bingsoo without knocking them off the side of the plate. It had a slight powdery consistency from the black sesame but it was a perfect combo with the mochi balls, red bean and condensed milk we poured on top. I also liked that we were able to finish almost all of it before it melted. Overall we really enjoyed our time here. The service was quick, parking was easy to find and most importantly, our dessert was good. They have parking in the alley behind the store and also street parking.
