Stayed in the area and picked this spot for breakfast based on the reviews. I couldn't help but be underwhelmed. Corned beef dish was overcooked with bits of blackened/extra crispy potatoes and chewy/dry beef. It wasn't horrible, but definitely worth forgetting. What a lovely place, just a hometown kind of eatery. Varied menu, breakfast, sandwiches, home made soups. And a specials board. We ordered Turkey and swiss, it was marvelous. We are picky. Really picky. We're both excellent cooks and have an extensive garden, so we value fresh, good stuff. Spending money on a crap meal is our pet peeve. So when we walked in and immediately were given a choice of red or green sauce -- tried both -- and were blown away by the complexity and flavor, we knew we'd scored. Three Oaks/Harbor Country has desperately needed a quality, affordable breakfast joint -- and this is it. The portions are incredibly generous and the food is excellent quality. Hilda, who served us, is awesome -- motherly, with just the right touch. She makes those sauces from scratch and you can tell. The Mexican choices are real Mexican, no watered down BS. And there are plenty of more traditional choices for those who prefer them. It's bright and clean and welcoming. My only concern is that it will be so overrun in the summer months it'll be hard for us locals to get a table. Keep on keepin on Oaks Eatery -- we needed you!! read more

Awesome fresh food. They have a great breakfast, lunch, and unique Mexican inspired dishes. I ordered the Chilaquiles, which for the uninitiated, are tortilla-chips coated in sauce. The best Chilaquiles come not from a bag of tortilla chips but are cut from tortillas and individually tasted or fried, these guys appear to be doing it right. They come with eggs, Chorizo, Guacamole, and have perfect crunchy flavor. Their French toast and pancakes were great also and with awesome fresh fruit. We used to love coming to this restaurant and sitting outside for breakfast. The staff is great and good very good, but inside of the restaurant ruins it. Pictures are crooked, chairs stacked in middle of seating area, and a total unkempt look. We used to bring friends and guests but would now be embarrassed to. Please clean up the atmosphere and have outside seating. It really makes a difference! read more

We waited an hour and a half to get seated (Father's Day) but the food was absolutely delicious. It was worth the wait.

My boyfriend and I just stopped here for a late lunch and it was delicious! I had the caprese omlette and was very satisfied with it. I gave 5/5 stars despite the slow service because the waitresses were working so hard. They still managed to be pleasant even though it was apparent they were very stressed. There were three waitresses that were waitressing, bussing tables, AND hostessing. I'm not sure if someone called in sick or what, but Oaks Eatery needs to hire more staff. read more

What a wonderful find! Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Absolutely mouth-watering eggs Benedict with beautifully creamy, lemony Hollandaise and best gluten-free waffles ever. Chef makes sure that everything he makes is expertly prepared, fresh and pleasing to the palette! This family, who is local, couldn't be nicer and more welcoming. The food here is absolutely scrumptious! We were in the area for a wedding on Saturday February 8th and decided to check out the local restaurants. We had breakfast at Oaks Eatery on Sunday and all that f us enjoyed it so much, we decided to go back before leaving on Tuesday the GF Sweet potato waffles are to die for. My hubby had chorizo omelette and he said it was fantastic. Our friends had traditional breakfast foods and they raved over the flavor and the freshness of the fruit! The owner is a gem and so friendly and thorough. I have no clue how he could remember all of our orders without writing them down, except I would guess because he's 24! Just a delight all around. The food is excellent, the best breakfast around here by a long shot. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive, a joy to spend time with. We have been there three times so far, and I am looking forward to going again this week. I haven't finished enjoying the huevos rancheros with chorizo (the best chorizo I have ever tasted), so I will probably order that yet again, but the other dishes look very good also. The winter around here is brightened up significantly by having this place to go to. read more

When I saw this place was rated the best breakfast place in Michigan, I just had to try it. My husband and I were in the area for the weekend and made it a point to stop in for breakfast. It was not crowded at all on a Sunday morning and we were seated promptly. The waitress was very sweet and friendly. There were several items on the menu that looked delicious and I wanted to try but decided on the cinnamon bread french toast with fresh berries and pure maple syrup. I rarely have the sweet items on the menu, but the pictures I saw online of this could not be resisted. It was pure heaven. The berries were fresh and the toast had a good flavor. My husband had the breakfast burrito, which seemed to have been toasted or grilled. That presentation made it look all the more delicious. He happens to be married to a Mexican, (ME), so he knows and loves true Mexican cuisine. His burrito was not taco bell at all, but really authentic! We will definitely come back here next weekend with the kids when we're back in town. Great addition to Three Oaks! read more

Breakfast and brunch cannot get any better than this, seriously. This is a wonderful homey cafe where everything seems to be made from scratch and there are great vegan options (a rarity!) as well as traditional breakfast choices. They have good coffee as well as an espresso machine for coffee drinks. Every town and city should be so lucky to have a top notch yet unpretentious cafe like this. read more
