My husband and I have been fans of Oasis for years, and we applauded their menu change when they upgraded it a year or two ago. As much as we love it, we haven't been there for a while since it's a little pricey. So I went there today for lunch and, unfortunately, I came away very disappointed. I always got the Carne Asada-style tacos with Pico de Gallo and vegan cream, but they changed it from Carne Asada to "Carnitas". Guess what? It's the SAME thing only WAY smaller portions. Same price. Less food. They now use SMALLER tortillas (yes, I noticed) which means, of course, less filling inside. No pico, either. Not sure if I missed it or if they missed it. But for $9.00 for TWO small tacos (plus one very, VERY SMALL side item), it should come with more than just the TVP, the vegan cream and a few cilantro leaves. If the Pico (which was absent today) is indeed EXTRA, for these prices it SHOULDN'T be. What a shame. I really want to support local businesses, especially vegan/vegetarian ones -- something Riverside is sorely lacking. This used to be my go-to, the place I wanted to eat above all else. However, due to the disappointing experience of the last few times we've been there as well as menu/food portion inconsistencies, Oasis lost a couple of good customers today. read more

Their jackfruit tacos are so "meaty" and satisfying, it's hard to believe. They had so much flavor, and the tacos were so huge, I was really satisfied at the end of my meal. I tried it in their tacos before and then recently I tried it in Burrito form. Both times rocked! The next time I will go light and just order the bowl and restrain myself from ordering the lentil soup, the fried plantains, the tamale, the carrot/ginger drink. I love elote corn so I ordered that with it. It was smothered in vegan mayo/sour cream which I absolutely loved. I ordered a side of fries with some cheese on it. The salsa was good with everything. I ordered to go but took one bite in my car and had to pull over and finish it. The food is reasonably priced ; vegan food is typically more expensive anyway but I think I spent $13 for all this. Not bad. I went into the market while I was waiting for my food and ended up buying a whole bunch of frozen vegan items and felt like I was in Heaven. Another vegan-land great. While the burgers & burritos have good seasoning & the "meat" has good texture, I prefer this place for semi-healthy junk food indulgence. Anything with the "meat" is slightly salty so I sometimes prefer the portabello option. The "meat" & potatoes Taquitos are good, too bad they don't give 5 instead of 3. The chilli cheese fries are awesome. The "steak" is my favorite "meat" especially as a wrap. Most vegetarian or vegan places are a little more expensive (especially to meat eaters), and this place is no different.
