My boyfriend and I are kind of sushi lovers!! I wanted to be by the bay and this was the only place closest to the water and it had 4.3 stars and the reviews were mostly really good. The view is hardly a view of the bay at all. The sushi is lackluster to say the least. Fish just wasn't fresh and we didn't think the presentation was all that great. I frequently order from here and have seen the gradual decline in food quality and service. My most recent experience was getting a rotten ceviche roll that smelled putrid. When I called to complain the person who answered was extremely rude and did not to give me her name or the manager. "What do want sweetie" was her response when I asked for her name. The manager finally got on the phone after I kept insisting. Apologies followed and they picked up the rotten roll. I did not want my money back or a replacement. I wanted to make sure they check their shrimp and not give it to anyone else. Difficult to rate this place. I would give it a 3.5 because some things are great... others less. Let's start with the good: great selection of sushi, very creative with taste from sweet to spicy with a very enjoyable presentation. They offers lunch menus with enough food to stuff the hungry- vore. Those menus include a small salad or miso soup and sushi or rice bowls with chicken or gyosas. I particularly enjoyed their fried rice and teriyaki chicken as well as south beach sushi. Now comes the less enjoyable, crappy water! It's better to order a beer cause the water they serve is disgusting. Their california rolls are tasteless so avoid them too. The sauce for the chicken katsu is so so. The marinated squid and sea vegetable appetizer was a generous portion, great for sharing, and the marinade had the perfect balance of yuzu, sesame and soy. Loved it. I went simple with a brown rice unagi bowl. $11.50 for a huge bowl of brown rice topped with my beloved BBQ eel. The eel was perfect, buttery tasting, sweet and salty perfection. The rice was short grain sushi rice to my delight (not the cheap long grain rice many places sub), lightly seasoned with a little soy sauce. The chirashi bowl is also a great deal. For $9.99, you get a huge bowl of rice topped with generous slabs of sashimi. Brown rice or fried rice are optional. The fried rice has great flavor but a little too oily for my taste, especially paired with rich oily fish. Dessert was small but a nice finish without the guilt. Apple cinnamon filled hot fried spring rolls, crispy on the outside, dusted with powdered sugar and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Tastes just like apple strudel, yum. read more

This is my go to place for sushi around my work hours. Their lunch special are good, with a variety in selections and prices. I must say the freshness and quality for sushi is out of the world. I normally order lunch special #25 which consist of 9 pcs of sushi (each piece has a nice size and thickness to it). I also order the tuna tartar. The location has modern look to it with white/orange/ brown decor. They have wicker patio furniture outside for outside seating. The negative about eating inside is that the tables are too close together with other parties. FYI the bathroom does not have a changing station. So one time that my hubby surprised me at work to have lunch with him and my daughter. I had to put her changing pad on the floor and then change her diaper. read more

I'm not sure why this place has gone so downhill! I first ordered from uber eats a couple months ago. When I went looking for it again they are no longer with uber eats. So I find their website and order. What a mistake. I placed my order at 6:32. At 7:38 still nothing. And there's no app to see the little driver so now I have to call. They tell me ohhh the driver is picking up your order right now (WTF....it was veggie rolls! Why is it just being picked up an hour later) At 8:10 I call again....nothing. "He'll be there soon". By this time I have a very HANGRY husband who is super pissed off and a very hungry 12 year old who is starving. My husband calls and demands to know where it is. They say 3 min.....nope. FInally get a call from the driver at 8:40. He's finally downstairs in the lobby.... This is over 2 hours late! The kicker? The fried rice which I specifically asked for no meat only seafood (we don't eat meat) has a ton of meat in it. Obba Sushi is simply good! A nice spot with good service and food. It is great for inexpensive quality sushi. Nice atmosphere and location... The menu is expansive and there is a great variety of everything especially rolls. The rolls are creative and flavorful. Highly recommend the Chipotle Roll. Their signature dish is the Obba Sandwich which is just sooo good an creativity at its best!! The Tuna Tartare is also very tasty. The location is perfect as it is located on Brickell Bay. Although I went at night, I am sure that the view is beautiful in the day as it is overlooking the water. This is a great sushi place right by the water in brickell. Their teriyaki chicken with fried rice is excellent. Also they have a happy hour where they offer cocktails and 5 piece sushi rolls for 3$! Great price for brickell. The reason I don't give it 5 stars is that they take so long to serve and sometimes forget to check on tables. Treated me terribly and instead of finding a solution to my problem they said I wad the one doing something wrong. Ordered the Chicago Roll which is the most expensive roll on the menu and claims to have "real king crab". I receive the roll that is 90% asparagus and avocado and the crab is mixed with carrots and imitation krab. If you're looking for quality sushi, look somewhere else. I don't usually write reviews but this restaurant was very disappointing. We made a reservation and we're sat about 10 minutes after getting there. We get sat at the table and nobody came to us until 20 minutes after, when the server got to us we didn't get a greeting just "you ready to order?". We ordered our food and it took 10 minutes just to get our water and the server didn't even serve us the water, the hostess did. Another 35 minutes pass and our appetizer finally comes. We got the spring rolls and they were good but you can tell they were sitting in the window for some time. 15 minutes later our rolls come, they were average. I ordered the south beach roll and an avocado cucumber roll, my boyfriend got the popcorn lobster roll(which was hard and tasted fishy)My avocado roll never came so I got upset and told my boyfriend go check on it and he sees our server eating in the back! We canceled the roll and turns out "it was put for Togo", how ridiculous. Maybe if she wasn't eating she would have realized my food was packaged and not at my table. So after that she realizes we need more water "went to go get it" and only arrives with our check and says "the hostess didn't bring the water?" So after we pay we did not tip because our experience was disappointing and we can see the server shaking her head at us not tipping. I work in a restaurant and I know very well what tipping is to a server but with the experience being horrible and seeing our server a total of 3 times (1. To take our order and the other times to bring our food and check after that) there was no reason for a tip. Listen to the one star reviews on this restaurant. The food was very good and tasty. I had the kani su rolls, avocado salad, sun-dried tomato rolls, avocado cucumber rolls and Thai donuts. But when I received the order; There was only 4 boxes and a cup of ice cream. When I opened the first box, I saw the sun dried tomato rolls and assumed all the rolls in that box were sundried tomato rolls. They were bunched up. I did not see the avocado cucumber rolls. All the other boxes had the correct items. One item per box. I called the restaurant and the lady said that she packed the delivery and it was all there. I told her I ordered 5 items but I only had 4 boxes. She said it's all there And she hung up on me. So I called again and I told her that I was sorry but I just wanted to be clear about the delivery. She told me to call Uber eats and get a refund. I told her that I did not want to make a complain, get a refund or create an issue if I was wrong. She told me She was busy and didn't have time for this. I told her I would be quick. She put me on hold. When she came back I told her how many boxes I had. She then proceeded to tell me she combined the avocado and the sun-dried tomato rolls in the same box. And for me to check the order first I was not familiar with the rolls and noticed only the sun-dried ones when I opened the box. She just hung up on me. I was upset that the lady had hung up in me like three times already. So I called to speak to her manager. She then refused to answer and sent my phones calls straight to voice mail. My friend and I always try to meet for dinner once a week to catch up and last night she decided to have some sushi and suggested Obba as it's her absolute favorite. We decided to order ahead online (definitely a plus) and pick up ourselves to enjoy dinner at her home. It is located on the first floor of a condominium tucked away in a corner. The restaurant has very simple decor with tables throughout. I asked where I can pick up my food and was directed to the take out cashier (after looking around confused) and no one helped.
