First, who can resist homemade bread? We ate there twice during a recent trip to Lake Anna area. I had the Turkey panini with plum chutney. I tried the house fries and my husband tried the house chips. Delicious meal. Server was attentive and she was from NJ! My husband also tried a special with rye bread and my grandson had cheese quesadillas. We were all satisfied. read more

A great restaurant is such a boon in a small town. My mom had raved about weekend brunches here when visiting my godmother, and we just had lunch here today. Delicious bbq burger, grilled to order, moist and flavorful. Best homemade potato chips, and the fries are crispy perfection, too. Traveling for business, one generally finds themselves in chain restaurants or local "family" type establishments for lunch and dinner. Pleasantly, my recent trip to Louisa was different, thanks to Obrigado. This restaurant takes it's name (from the Portugese "Thank you") seriously, serving rewarding, fresh food in good portions and with friendly and efficient service, especially given the amount of business the place stirs up in a small town. We started our meal with homemade potato chips, which were delicious, crispy, and altogether an amazing start to a good meal. The garlic ranch sauce served with it was delicious. The second course was a soup, today's being a Virginian Minestrone. Very interesting, though, with limited VA experience, I can't comment on it's uniqueness. Altogether a great combination of flavors, with ham, kale, and new potatoes added to the mix. Third came the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich, served with chicken, tomato, basil, and mozzarella on fresh, homemade (!), wheat bread. All the ingredients tasted like they just came off the field, thoroughly possible around here. To finish up, the chocolate/hazelnut gelato was good, once again tasting home made and altogether a perfect close to the meal. Three of us met here for Sunday supper, Arrived about 5:00. We all 3 had different entrees; I had oysters , one of us had shrimp and grits and one had catfish, They were all excellent. I was concerned about serving time due to several other yelp reviews indicating that it had taken a very long time. This was not the case for us. Service was very good and also very prompt. The food was very good but I wasn't happy with my order. I thought a dish called pan roast would have a nice chicken breast as the center of attention. Instead I was disappointed to have been served a pasta dish with some cubed chicken breast. Fortunately, it was tasty. The server was syrupy sweet which was a little annoying. My family came for Sunday brunch. It was practically Monday by the time we left. Seriously, though, it took an hour and a half before we got our food after ordering. The little ones did not last that long, but despite our multiple requests, the kitchen wouldn't send out the kids' dishes early, since they wanted to send all the food together. The staff was rude, and blamed the delays on us for coming with such a large party, even though we had made an advance reservation, so it wasn't a surprise that we were coming. None of us ordered anything difficult or complex - it's brunch food! Pancakes and eggs are not that hard to make. It's too bad, since there aren't that many good food options around here, but our experience was bad enough that we decided we couldn't come back here. Disgusting! Avoid this place at all costs. I came in with my 3yr old daughter at 730 on a Friday night. The dining room was half empty - which should have been a clue! We only ordered two apps and service was abysmally slow. We were served rock hard "fresh" bread wrapped in a paper napkin, and the milk they brought my daughter was sour. Me and a friend stopped by for brunch one Sunday. Our waitress was super friendly and welcome. She was very attentive and took great care of us! We both order omelets and they we delicious! They also give you a basket of bread and biscuits. There was some kind of cinnamon blueberry bread. OMG! it was sooooo good! For sure recommend this little place for a nice brunch! We have been going here for really good meals since they opened. The Friday prime is as good as it gets. We have eaten calamari at restaurants around the world but our favorite is Obrigado's. If you want really good food in kind of a funky setting stop in. Also a fabulous selection of wine, a good bar and some really good and cold draft beers. Obrigado's used to be a great restaurant for the small town of Louisa. We recently celebrated New Year's Eve there and, most recently, ordered a takeout dinner. NYE's dinners were overpriced for the amount of food. Previously, the bread served with olive oil was great - now it's hard as a rock. For takeout, we ordered calamari and Greek salad with chicken. Calamari was definitely not fresh and salad was mostly lettuce - chicken consisted of three very small, very dry pieces. Sorry to say we're definitely no longer fans. One positive is that waitstaff are very friendly and welcoming. Since there are no other decent restaurants in Louisa, it looks as if Obrigado's feels they'll get the clientele and can charge whatever prices they want for the lousy food they now serve. read more

We were literally robbed! After spending $104 for dinner and leaving a tip of $25 we later looked at our bank statement and noticed we were charged an extra $30. After speaking to the manager we found out someone had altered the merchant copy of our bill and added an additional $30 to the tip entry. The owner agreed to refund the amount but made no effort to make it right otherwise. In fact, they said the person responsible will be "spoken to" but not fired. My husband and I go here often. 98% of the time the food is great! Occasionally something will be over seasoned. The service is great too, but can be a bit slow especially if it's one of their busy nights. The prime rib is the best and if it's still available, try the Red Drum Fish it's quite tasty. For dessert, the homemade blackberry ice cream is heavenly. There's lots of beers and wines to choose from too. You'll be pleased. read more

To say that this is the best restaurant in Louisa isn't enough. It's a great restaurant and Louisa is lucky to have it. Nice setting, great service. We started dinner with the homemade potato chips which were fantastic. Paella was good, a generous portion with large shrimp and lots of fresh mussels. We got seated and received our drinks from the lady at the bar who also sat us but the waitress(brow hair girl) was too busy to come over and get our orders. She felt it was better to go and box up leftovers at table next to us before getting our orders. She seems kind of rude and did not want to wait on us. Back on Saturday Night and Obrigado was on point. Paella was excellent with a pile of muscles, shrimp and chorizo over a rice that was infused with flavor. Scallops sautéed with a bit of wine, shallot, garlic and butter over linguine was flavorful without being over the top rich and heavy. Super-yum! Blueberry cobbler alamode was an awesome way to end the dinner and don't forget the house wines - typically a South American quality blend and a generous pour. Had a great dinner with my brother two nights in a row. Food was fantastic and the service was great! Went back two weeks later with my lovely wife and nothing went right the service was terrible the food was very late in getting to the table and my trout dinner was as oily as trout could possibly be. This place is a little diamond in the rough. It is very nicely put together, everything is freak and made to order, and there is zero competition in this area for a nice meal.
