Had a great dinner with my brother two nights in a row. Food was fantastic and the service was great! Went back two weeks later with my lovely wife and nothing went right the service was terrible the food was very late in getting to the table and my trout dinner was as oily as trout could possibly be. Was just wondering how things could have gone so awry in a two week.period. it makes it difficult to decide if we should even go back again. I guess it three stars based on an average experience. Is it work just to two nights I would give it five stars last night they were there it would be zero to one star. read more

Terrific fried oysters. Prime Rib special was perhaps the tastiest I've ever had. Wine selections were interesting and affordable with great descriptions by the owner. Center of the community where everyone is friendly. Bathroom art is a must-see as well! read more

I love obrigados, and my favorite appetizer ever is the potato nachos app, great fresh food, and always an interesting wine selection.

Was pleasantly surprised by this quaint, well run and great service from shanna and restaurant/bar. Our entrees were hot, tasty and well-presented. My single crab cake rice pilaf was right size and fresh. Wife's vegetable medley on couscous with jusT the right amount of tasteful spices! All in all, the experience was great and felt like we were in a Harper Lee scene in central Va. get off the I64 and have this relaxing time to and from Richmond or northern Va. read more

Now that I'm single and living in a very rural area, I am on the lookout for that one place, my go-to restaurant where I feel welcomed and comfortable. Obrigado has the potential to be this type of place. Stuck in a small town on Main Street, Obrigado has been built in a storefront and the atmosphere is very casual. The floor was left unfinished, there is local art for sale hanging from the walls, and the owner has created the bar and a few of the tables from his passion for working with wood. While the name might imply some South American dishes, this restaurant focuses on Mediterranean and American fare. The menu is varied but not too adventurous. A swordfish special caught my eye but I wanted to sample the regular dishes. I ordered the shrimp Rosso. It was nice, tasty in a pink sauce with fresh spinach. And putting it on a bed of orzo made it much more enjoyable than standard pasta. Caesar salad was just what you would expect. The good surprise was a nice cup of Brazilian coffee which they sell in bags. Dinner is too late for me to indulge in a sugary dessert, but the offerings were very tempting. Maybe I'll come back for lunch and try one another time because I want this restaurant to be a part of my regular routine. read more

We've been there at least a half dozen times in the last year and a half and have had great food and great service every time.

Obrigados is one of my favorite close-by restaurants near me. My family and I come here very frequently. They do have a short menu, however they will usually make anything that isn't on that current short menu. My dad loves their fried artichokes and they make them for him every time, regardless of if it's on the menu or not. Being new to Virginia and Louisa, it was recommended that we try Tuesday Pasta Night. If all of their menu is as wonderful as our Pasta dinner, don't walk but RUN to this restaurant! The food and staff and atmosphere are wonderful. Casual, but special. I can imagine a great lunch spot or a romantic dinner! Family style salad was not only delicious, but a special touch! read more

Obrigado has many good points, but the service can be terribly slow, and this problem has tended to worsen over the years. I don't care if a restaurant has the best food in the world if it takes an hour for the food to arrive. An unreasonably long wait for the order puts me in a bad mood, makes me feel like a fool, and ruins the whole meal. When that happens I'd just as soon go to Food Lion instead. read more

This is a great little restaurant, easily the best in Louisa County. The food is generally excellent, the service is friendly, and the decor is pleasant. It's not perfect (but what is?). To a degree it's become a victim of its own success, so tables are often hard to find if you get there during the heart of the dinner period. The menu could be a little more varied and a little less pricey. Also, quite often they are out of the thing you want to order. But overall my wife and I love this place and return again and again. (Careful, don't order the catfish---it's WAY too salty, or was when we got it.) The pizza is WONDERFUL and is a good deal. It also has a great bar---a by-gosh real bar in LOUISA! read more

Saturday night dinner for four. Afterwards everyone agreed the meal was sub-par. Bland food and the service seemed overwhelmed. In their defense, they looked understaffed. We really enjoyed this restaurant. The staff was very good. Our food came out hot and in a seasonable time. We had The Summer salad, blackened cat fish, and pizza. The pizza was not the normal round pre-made type it was fresh and not made in a round regular shape. The place had a great look to it, a nice bar with a good selection of wine. Yesterday was my 2nd visit. A bit disappointed. The first visit July 1, the calamari and pizza were excellent! Calamari was fresh, light and by far the best calamari I have ever had. Pizza was more like brick oven. 2nd visit, July 31, pizza was soggy and calamari didn't taste as fresh, too much breading and greasy. On a positive note, waitress was excellent!! read more

Obrigado may be your best dining option in Louisa but I would rather stop by Subway. My filet was cooked to medium-well when I ordered medium-rare. If a restaurant cannot cook a steak to the proper temp then they should be serving it. The server was inattentive despite the small size of the dining room. Had lunch here today and everyone at the table enjoyed their meal! I had a blackened chicken wrap that had a tasty herb wrap that has been toasted, so it had some crust to it. It was quite good. The special soup of the day was tomato bacon and clearly was homemade with a nicely thick consistency. The half BLT it came with was on thick bread. The service was a bit slow but there was only one server working and there were a couple of other tables seated. I will definitely be back to try dinner! read more

Either the restaurant changed owners or the other reviewers had incredible luck! I had the two out of three choice from the menu and chose the New England clam chowder and the chicken salad. I asked that the bread be substituted for French fries, since there were no gluten-free options. I have been going to Obrigado for years... it is a gem in downtown Louisa Va. The cooking is excellent and the atmosphere is even better. Some faves....The calamari is wonderful - light and crispy as are the bang bang shrimp. Steaks off the grill are always good, bistro chicken is very good and the chipotle pork is a winner. The kitchen knows how to cook fish - grilled tuna was excellent seared on the outside and warm on the inside. Dishes with shrimp and scallops are always good. Excellent wine selection at reasonable prices. Oh yes... don't miss out on their Bistro Burger... it is one of the best burgers anywhere. read more

We were seated fast, but that was about it. It took an hour to get our food, which was partially cold. At $13 a plate, we were definitely expecting more on the plate. The one star comes from the great mimosa. Don't think we will be stopping there again. read more
