OC Fish Grill is a popular seafood restaurant located in the Irvine Oak Creek Shopping Center adjacent to I Can Barbecue Korean Grill. Their menu offers everything from appetizers, soups, tacos, grilled fish plates, bowls, fried plates, sandwiches, grilled salads, breakfast items, coffee, tea, cold beverages to adult beverages (beer, wine, cocktails). For their customers, the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and they even have live jazz performances on weekends - check their website and socials for dates and times. We visited for dinner on a Friday evening, and I enjoyed an a-la-carte battered fish taco and a grilled White Fish Swai plate with grilled zucchini and french fries. As other reviewers have said, their portion size is generous and I appreciate that. The battered fish was fried to perfection and the swai was both tender and delicious. Seafood isn't cheap, but their price point is less than Pacific Catch and higher than California Fish Grill. I recommend enjoying live music with your fresh seafood only at OC Fish Grill!

Looking for a healthy place to eat in the area. My husband found this place. they have a lot of varieties in their menu-mediterranean mostly. i ordered their thai salmon and hubby ordered grilled mahi mahi with french fries and grilled zucchini. the dressing on my thai salmon and the salad is delish. it has mandarin, apple, carrots and nuts. The service is great and the restaurant is clean. Lots of sitting area. The outside sitting is covered with grapevines. ait feels lime you are at the winery kind of vibes.

We came here with a group of 10 people and had no trouble finding a place to sit for lunch. Ordering is pretty straightforward, and there's a display with desserts. I appreciate how they have a decent kids' menu - my boys loved it! I tried the fried calamari, ahi poke bowl, rice pudding, and another dessert that had pistachio (I don't see it on the menu, but it was in the display case). The calamari was really good - I like the breading on it. Nice and crispy and thin. The poke was also pretty good. I should have asked for the dressing on the side, but oh well! The fish was really good, and I had it with quinoa. All of the toppings were great as well. Nice balance all around. But the sleeper hit was the rice pudding. So unassuming at first, but after that first bite - yum! Several people at our table said it was probably the best thing we tried during lunch. So smooth and such a great flavor. Not too sweat at all. And it looks like they might have brulee'd it first? Not entirely sure, but very tasty. Service was decent, and there's plenty of parking in the plaza.

Flies, Flies, and more Flies last Saturday Evening. Enter the restaurant at approximately 6 pm on one of the hottest days of the year and both doors were wide open and it was hot inside the restaurant. No A/C on! Asked the waitress why no A/C on such a hot day and she said manager decided not to turn it on. I can't believe they were making employees--especially ones in the kitchen work under these conditions!? It was over 80 degrees in there--probably about 85 really. I was already perspired from the day hauling stuff so I was okay with it. Ordered my Salmon and sat down inside. As soon as the Salmon plate was placed on the table, not one, not two, not three but a team of flies converged on my food. Both big and small flies. I swatted them away and they came back with a vengeance, some flying together in teams. Those little flies stood their ground on the table around my Salmon and refused to move. Now I am wondering how many flies are in the kitchen? Maybe stirred up in the food? That's not a spice I want! I could not get a bite without flies attacking so I picked up my stuff and sat outside on the patio. One fly came by occasionally but not as bad as the infestation inside. I am wondering if this restaurant has an owner on the premises regularly and the competency of the manager? Does the owner know what is going on? Something was very wrong here. The restaurant is behaving like like they will be turning the lights out soon and can't afford A/C? Really cutting costs to stay in business? But I hope not because I really like the Salmon here, but I am not going to be able to return for a while because I am concerned about all the flies. One fly OK, but not the amount of flies they had in that place. Those leaves outside on the patio generate flies and bugs, so it's important to keep the restaurant doors closed at all times and A/C on when hot. They do have a fly zapper inside, but it was not doing the job or overwhelmed? Sorry to report this debacle.

Love this place! Irvine hidden gem! They have a vast and tasteful menu. The staff are very polite and welcoming and they have a ton of daily specials and events. Checks all the boxes whether you're looking for a quick lunch or a place to lounge and eat / drink

If you're trying to eat healthy, OC Fish Grill is a decent choice. It's counter service, with indoor and outdoor seating on their large patio. OC Fish Grill has a Taco Tuesday, where three tacos are $12. Tacos are normally $5-$7 each, so this is a deal! The tacos all have to be the same and you can choose from chicken, whitefish, shrimp and salmon. I would recommend the salmon over the shrimp, as the salmon tacos are quite large compared to the shrimp - a much better bang for your buck! They also offer the same three taco price during Happy Hour. I've also ordered the grilled tilapia, which comes with two sides. Their brussels sprouts are good but they go a little overboard on the balsamic vinegar. Plenty of parking in the lot.

I recommend this place for awesome service and delicious food specially Turkish breakfast

I got the grilled salmon plate and was pleasantly surprised by how much fish came with it. Typically, when I go out to eat--especially for salmon dishes--they give you only a tiny piece. But this place gave two decently sized pieces, which was very filling, especially for the price I paid. The taste wasn't too strong, which I liked. It was just lightly seasoned, so it was pretty good as is. The veggies that came with it were grilled--I chose the Brussels sprouts. Overall, everything was pretty good, and this is exactly the type of dinner I usually go for. I was surprised the place was so empty, considering how good the food is. I'm definitely coming back to try some of the other dishes.

Casual counter service with indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is nice under the grape trellis (cape trumpet vine & jasmine, too). Clean bathrooms. Recommend any of the grilled fish as well as the Brussels sprouts. If you're getting water, give the lemon water next to the soda fountain a try.

The location is great and very accessible, unfortunately, my ahi tuna was SEVERELY overcooked and dry as a bone. I had ordered extra Cajun sauce which I never got and it was very hard to try and get the attention of a worker. I had previously tried the fish and chips and they were great with a fantastic portion size but this time it was just not a good experience.

Wanted to love it be wise it was highly recommend but was disappointed. Service was below average didn't feel welcomed at all. However when I had an issue with my food it was resolved quickly. I order spoke bowl with brown rice - the brown rice almost broke a tooth it was so hard. I asked for a new side a rice and offered me a freshly made cup of it. When they realized it was my bow the took it back. read more

I do like this place a lot. Good food. Nice seating area. The live music is nice. The service is okay. Could be more friendly. I do have to ask each time for knives etc but great food option. I have met with friends here on several occasions and everyone likes the food and selection. read more

Oh man, I am not a fan of leaving bad reviews because I think that restaurants deserve a break from occasional blips, but what we experienced was just not acceptable. First, they took our order, payment, and tip at the register, gave us a table service number (which clearly means they know we intend to dine in). After 40 minutes, and everyone around us who arrived much later ALL got their food, I checked with the register to see what was going on. It took the lady a while to realized that they lost our order. OK, fine, mistakes happen -- but no apology. Then after another 20 minutes, I went back to check what happened. This time, they said they'd fix it right away -- again no apology. After another 10 minutes, they told us that it was ready right after we first ordered, but that it was just bagged away in the takeout section for the past hour+ -- still no apology. Then they took out the packed food that was sitting there for over an hour, put them on plates and served them... at room temperature, and no apology. I think the prepaid tip system at this restaurant really disincentivize the wait staff to care at all. This is the worst service quality I have experience in about a decade. read more

I've been teaching a STEAM workshop for the city's summer program for kids on Friday afternoons. I was headed home and thought, fish & chips sounded perfect for dinner. There were two places that I considered with high ratings. OC Fish Grill and another; the latter was thirteen miles away in the opposite direction. It was along day, it was hot, I was tired and OC Fish Grill was only two miles from my location. - "We have a winner!" When I arrived, there was a couple sitting outside on the very nice & spacious, front patio. I really liked that it had plenty of shade; great for a typical OC day with lots of sun. I'm quite particular about my poke, don't sample the mainland style version too often. (i.e. - Poke bowls, salads, burritos, etc.) Those are all mainland conventions created to stretch out the poke so people can feel they are getting more for their $$. LOL - I just want poke. The closest to no frills Hawaiian poke that I've found is at COSTCO or Whole Foods; if available. However, rarely do I found mainland poke with *inamona or *limu kohu. (COSTCO gets their poke FedEx'd overnight.) Salmon poke and crab poke are my favorites. - Apologies, I digress. For fancy, fufu mainland poke; it was good. *Inamona - The meat of a kukui nut; edible when cooked. Roasted in their shells; a popular ingredient to Hawaiian poke. *Limu Kohu - Thin, red seaweed; used in traditional poke. (My favorite!) After glancing over the menu as I enjoyed the poke & beer, I decided on my to-go order; both were Megan recommendations: Grilled Salmon Plate ($15) Good; nicely seasoned; moist. I'm sure it'd be nice to grind some pupus, enjoy a few drinks while sitting outside on a warm summer evening, chilling by the fireplace, and listening to jazz. Very nice casual place for fresh grilled fish! They have good varieties of fishes to choose from and sauces to your preference. The side dishes are great as well. From Brussel sprouts to French fries. Amble dessert selections to fill your taste bud with you favorite cup of Joe. The added bonus to this place is live Jazz on Fridays and sometimes on Saturday! I family made it here and I love it! This is like California fish grill fence or but with premium quality food is and portions are generous. I love the char flavoured fish and I really like the sides that come with grilled fish plates such as the Brussels sprouts and grilled zucchini. Moreover, the outside seating area is very nice and cosy. Overall great value for your bucks and good location. I will come back. read more

Big portions, good customer service and great happy hour/ taco Tuesday deals. I got 3 salmon tacos for $9 on Taco Tuesday and was more than full. The table next to me got a massive order of nachos that could easily feed 3 people. I will be coming back for the live jazz band on Friday & Saturday. read more

It was our first dining experience at OC Fish Grill and we loved it. We got a great customer service from Emir. He greeted us very kind and friendly. We ordered everything at the counter but Emir served our food to the table. We ordered an ahi poke as a starter and our main course was a taco combo plate which was very delicious. Well BLOW me down! I am blown away by how good the food was at the OC Fish Grill on Alton in Irvine. I love me some fried food, but I also appreciate some higher end fare. This place has it all. The fried zucchini was the crispiest and most flavorful I have had, ever. The fried calamari was not just crispy but tender and tasty. The brussel sprouts bursted with charred flavor and not a hint of bitterness. Their battered fish taco surprised with authentic Latin flavor and the softest corn tortilla in memory. The service was excellent and the decor and atmosphere is contemporary and cool. Even the bathrooms were clean. All in all, the best fish place in town. read more

GROSS GREY GREASY GRIMY GRILLED GRUB aka: A fish taco called to express concern with my order. Asked to speak with the manager not there apparently only present on Fridays at 4pm suppose to receive a call the next day, NO CALL ever!! Went in hopefully receive a refund, NOPE!! Food kinda bland... tried the Mahi Mahi fish taco and frankly there was nothing to it... even added Tabasco sauce still couldn't get any flavor. Sorry guys.... I was planning to go and get some cod tonight. Not sure I'll be able to give this place another shot. Looking for the top freshest fish n chips in OC. read more

Took my 90+year old mom for late (2:15pm) lunch. She had fish and chips with coleslaw. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi with coleslaw and grilled zucchini. Both were delicious. Fries were seasoned just right, coleslaw is kale based, simple and yummy. Zucchini was really good as it had a hint of balsamic and butter but just a hint. Mom said the fish was BETER than what she had in England which is a huge compliment. The fried fish was a glorious golden brown and juicy-not greasy as there is a difference. Mom doesn't eat much but she was chomping on those fried fish gems!! Also fish didn't need tartar sauce so I had to at least taste that separately and it was good. We would come back but we don't live nearby. But if we are in the neighborhood we will stop here again! Service was good. Not crowded so ordering was simple. It is a walk-up order joint. But food is brought to your table. Ambiance is lovely. Outside trellising with plenty of shade, lots of tables and two standing waterfalls that drips water over black tiled walls. Relaxing ! I wouldn't recommend this place mostly for horrible service and bad management. Food is ok, but don't be surprised if the food is no good. Been here a few times and it's been hit or miss mostly. The last time I came here we got a branzino plate and a chicken Caesar salad. The fish was tasty but cold. Brown rice was ok, brussel sprouts were cold. Chicken Caesar salad was completely red and moldy and wilted, chicken was dry and inedible. Called the restaurant, complained about only the chicken Caesar salad. They said we'll take a note and credit you next time. I came back in a week later and they were only willing to credit me for the the lettuce in the salad, they said there was nothing wrong with the chicken.... Haha seriously? What was I supposed to do with a piece of dry chicken by itself? Anyways, this place lost a customer, due to sh*t service. Pick up your service if you expect to stick around. I live 100 feet away and used to come here often. Food was decent but always a miss with staff, too bad their staff sucks. read more

I've been on a salmon plate kick lately. I really liked their salmon. It was not overcooked. Moist and flaky. The french fries were crispy and not soggy. It was good portion. You get to pick 2 sides of your choice with the plate. They have 3 sauces to choose from. They serve beer and desserts. They have both dine in and outdoor seating available. It was raining so we dined in. They did follow covid protocol with social distancing, sanitizing, and wearing masks. They also had hand sanitizers. The employees were friendly. Not going to lie...I was not excited for this place when I saw the sign go up. I was really hoping for a nice breakfast/cafe spot since the location had a lot of great outdoor seating. The Fish restaurant concept is already a thing a few miles down the road (California Fish Grill) and I never really went there anyway. Though since this place is like a 2 minute walk from my house I thought I'd give a chance! Been here a few times now and I've had the fish/shrimp tacos, clam chowder and fried fish and shrimp plate. All were quite good and they really pack the plate so I definitely appreciated that. It's not like the best tacos or fish I've ever had, but I do feel like it was all made with quality, fresh ingredients. Everything was packed with favor and made well. My husband had their chicken tacos since he's not a big seafood guy and he said they were good too. Really enjoyed our sides: Brussels sprouts, zucchini and fries. Service was super friendly and the place was clean. I will continue to support this place, especially since they opened during covid so that mush have been tough! read more

My daughter and I visited the OC Fish Grill, for the first time about one month ago. The food was fresh and delicious. We went back the following week, and i was totally surprised at the quality and service. I became ill and was unable to go back, but I have made several attempts at calling the manager who is a lady, Bishra, or Abiishr, I'm not sure. Three different employees have taken a message and my phone number. She has not mad any efforts to contact me, to try and resolve this issue. I saved the food and took photos. Now I will continue to leave negative reviews and contact the corporate office, if possible. read more

This is one of our go-to spots for dinner. Food always come out quickly and tastes awesome every single time. Shoutout to Ridvan and the rest of the team for providing great service! We've also been here during Jazz Friday's, which are a bit busy but extremely entertaining if you enjoy live music. You can't really find a place in Irvine with this kind of energy and good vibes. Been here maybe 4-5 times always ordering the same thing! Fish and chips and / or fish tacos. We've never ordered anything else, as we come here for that deep fried goodness. Each time, we've always been happy with the hot food and serving amount. This is a fast food, casual place where they bring your food to your table. I was not happy with my fish and chips that I had this afternoon for lunch. While it looked lovely on the platter, the fish was paper, thin, and strangely chewy. The side of coleslaw was nice and crunchy and fresh. However, there was no dressing of any kind to speak of, or the dressing was so light I really couldn't tell. I tried to peel away the coating of the fish however, it wouldn't peel away as the fish was just mushy on the inside, and it was all attached as one piece. Very strange! I will not be back for fish like that. read more

This was my first time here. I came for lunch with a friend. I have some dietary issues. I let the person taking my order know about all of my food sensitivities and allergies. I even asked / double-checked when the food was dropped off at the table. There was butter on the fish. I have a casein allergy. Of course, I didn't know / realize until several hours after the fact. I was pretty disappointed. I MIGHT give it one more go because my friend loves it so much. I hear they have live music sometimes. read more

I wrote a review already, but for some reason it gets deleted every time, so here we go again. Ordered food to go and it came extremely greasy and soggy. My tacos were impossible to eat and my fish and chips were disgusting. It was like eating old fried fish dipped in oil. When I got there my order was not ready and I am pretty sure they didn't even have it because they rushed to the tablet once I gave my name. Like, if you take online orders you should be able to handle it. I also went there another time and the food took forever. The salmon was way too cooked and the white fish was way too undercooked. It seems like they wanna make money no matter what and now their quality and services are terrible. I went on a Jazz night so it was pretty packed, but if you can't deliver some decent food for the price you charge (which is not cheap btw) then maybe you should consider changing how you do things around there. read more

I was really looking forward to trying the Turkish breakfast at OC Fish Grill, especially since I've visited Istanbul multiple times and absolutely love authentic Turkish food. Unfortunately, this place didn't come close to meeting expectations. The omelette in the skillet was served cold--almost as if it had just come out of the fridge. We ordered over-hard eggs for the kids, but they arrived runny. Even after asking for them to be cooked more, they still came back over-easy. The potatoes on the combo plates were also cold. On top of that, the coffee was mediocre at best. Today is Monday Jan 27 and picked up some friends to go for lunch. Every-time l eat here l feel l have to praise this owner. His food is so fresh and cooked, grilled, breaded, anyway he cooks l'll eat it. Today I ordered breaded zucchini some lovely grilled salmon e/ asparagus and sweet potato fries. And, of course, key lime pie...... oohhh my key lime pie! Food is fresh and healthy and dessert is decadent. It was warm outside today so we ate on the patio. We came early so not too crowded but parking is getting a little hard as the gym folks take it all nowadays. Service is lovely and quick. Best fish in town. This place just opened about two weeks ago and I'm so glad they did! They have the best fish and chips I have ever tasted hands down. My friend tried the white fish swai and she absolutely fell in love with it. It's nice that you get two sides of your choice with your meal as they have many options to choose from. The place is super clean and the employee was very attentive with our order. It is obvious that they care about every single one of their customers. I have been to a different fish grill and this one is by far the best one! They have a great variety of food choices from fish plates to tacos. This place has a beautiful family environment. But in particular especially customer service oriented and welcoming. The crew working is friendly and The lady who runs this place we just met, is helpful, knowledgeable and kind. It would have been preferable if the cafe provided the olive oil sauce in a separate small container rather than pouring it directly on the to-go box meal. Unfortunately, by the time I arrived home, the sauce had leaked out and accumulated in the plastic bag, resembling a miniature pond - more suitable for a goldfish than my meal. It seems the grilled salmon fulfilled my craving for a healthy and flavorful meal, especially since I hadn't had the opportunity to shop or cook that week. read more

Always heard about this place from close people but never actually tried it until the other day and let me just say, the food was absolutely DELICIOUS and although it can be a bit pricey but it is SO worth it! My server Daniel was very kind, funny and welcoming, I loved his energy and how quick he was to ask if I needed anything and to listen to my requests. Omg, I adore this place. The food is AMAZING, especially for the price. The service is fast and easy and the desserts are super yummy! I would 100% recommend the NY cheesecake. I met the manager by chance and she was so sweet and passionate about the quality of this restaurant. ALSO the ambiance of this place is so nice.
