I found this place by accident after leaving the supermarket, and honestly, it feels like a hidden gem! The dim sum and roasted duck looked amazing, but I ordered 1 lb each of BBQ pork and crispy pork to go. BBQ pork was tender and well-balanced, not too sweet or salty. The crispy pork was perfectly crunchy and not greasy at all. I also tried the pork bun ($3). It was very large with a lot of dough, and the filling was delicious, but I wish there was a bit more filling inside. I'd give this item a 4/5. The staff didn't speak much English, but they were very friendly and tried their best to help and recommend items, which I really appreciated. We stumbled upon this spot when we were doing some shopping in the area. It wasn't super busy when we stopped in but got gradually busier. I did notice a ton of people getting to go orders and a handful of people sitting and eating in the restaurant. For the food, they opted to either have you fill out the order sheet (if you don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese) and submit it and get in the line for cafeteria style ordering. Price wasn't bad $4.89 or $5.59 depending on what was being ordered. We got the Shrimp and Green Leek Dumpling, Sticky Rice Dumpling, Shanghai Dumpling, and Shrimp Rice Roll. Aside from the mishap of getting out of line and having to go back in line to order, we were delayed an extra 15-20 minutes. The food was pretty good for take out dim sum and we got the food pretty quickly. Luckily I had secured a spot to eat in the restaurant (there were 4 other tables that were partly vacant and some that had others enjoying the dim sum. Not bad for a spot with no people pushing carts out with the dim sum offerings, but there were at least 6-8 employees on hand either cooking, prepping, or processing orders. My mom loves getting dim sum here. The foods are always fresh. One of her favs are the egg tarts. The golden orange/yellow color and the buttery crust lol yumm...tastes even better when it's fresh out. Recently, she discovered the sesame buns. Omg! These were so good. Occasionally, they may be mild, while at other times they offer a pleasant level of spice. While I haven't personally experienced the taste of chicken feet, I can discern when a dish lacks flavor. She then begins incorporating her own ingredients into the chicken feet. She also enjoys the roasted pork. There are instances when the white rice cake is soft, and the flavor is not quite right, leading me to discard it. SOOO GOOD. The food is delicious and the service is great. My family loves ordering the siu mai and har gow and they are so big and full of meat and shrimp. You will definitely have a lot of big bites because their servings are huge. Also, the workers are so friendly! I was a big fan of this location when it was the old 'Yum Cha Cafe,' and when I was in the area, I learned it's now, 'Ocean Island.' As much as I miss the previous establishment, Ocean Island does have a good selection of dim sum, pastries, and your basic congees (jook), noodle soups, and rice plates. There's like three tables inside if you want to eat there, but with the constant foot traffic, you may just to take your food to-go (like everyone else). It really helps if you speak Mandarin or Cantonese here - the ladies are working fast and there's kind of a line and also kind of none lol. I was trying to place an order and they didn't hear me for some reason, then this kind lady who spoke Mandarin told them I wanted to place an order (so nice!) and I did just that. I only came here to try their Boa Luo Bao (Pineapple Bun) and their Pork Ribs Rice Plate, which turned out really good on everything. The dim sum also looked good, but I feel like the pastries and plate meals might be better value. Even though it's a to-go shop, the prices are still slightly steep for dim sum - about $5-$7 per dish or so...that definitely adds up! Quality of food is good though. Parking here is a hit or miss in the lot, depending on the day you go there. It shares a parking lot with other shops and the giant supermarket, so parking space can come sparingly. Went to a gathering recently and someone brought a few trays of dim sum from this place. I never knew this shop existed but after having a taste, I had to go and see for myself. Note: this is a primarily pick-up spot although there are a few tables for customer use. The store is located on in a small mini-mall, next to the GW Market main entrance. Plenty of available parking when we went on a recent Sunday morning, 9:30am. Upon entering, we noticed bbq pork hanging in the deli window...amongst other prepared items. The main star of the show, however, is their dim sum, which is out for full display behind the glass counter. This makes it very easy to see what is available (I'm not sure if some of the items change daily). There is a paper menu at one of the registers where you can mark down your order (this is what we did) and simply hand the paper over to one of the staff and they will box everything up. It may help to speak their language for more specific/particular orders (like if you wanted your order boxed up a certain way) but we do not and the older lady behind the counter was exceptionally kind to let me know they were out of a certain item using hand gestures. Communication is key! As we were waiting for our somewhat large order to be boxed up, we noticed that the shop became increasingly busier, yet the staff had their ordering process down to a science and it really showed...talk about teamwork! As for dim sum, they offer your typical items (char siu bao, har gow, sesame balls and more!) but they also have one that is a sliced green bell pepper with a filling (maybe fishcake?) that I've never seen before. I would go here just for this one! Seriously everything was delicious! Dim sum prices are fair: currently two prices..."A" = $4.89 and "B" = $5.59 so this makes it easy...but it does add up! They also offer rice plates (I gotta try this too), porridge, party trays and the like. Cash and cards accepted. Plethora of dim sum places in the immediate area and everyone has their preferences but this place really impressed. After visiting this place 3 times, I have decided to downgrade it. The char siu is not really that great tasting. 99 Ranch Market in Alhambra has better grade of char siu and lotus wrap. Most items here are big size but are lot of dough. Most of the time I found my order was filled a little different than the way I entered on the form: sometimes I had more item, sometimes less which confused me. And I had to order items here that I normally do not eat e.g. doughy items. So not coming here for a while. read more

I did not do a lot of research as we are getting close to the place I just trust Yelp's stars. so here we were. We thought we could eat dine-in - yes we did- but I don't recommend it. This place is good for you to go. No one will serve and help - and the place is small. Also, this is one of the most stressful experiences I had in ordering! you have to say what u want fast because they are all scrambling fast, I do not know all the names of the food, I just point at it and ugh I just felt so rushed. So thankful to the guy customer who helped us say what we want. Anyway, parking is a lot. There's no restroom, do not come on a rush hour I guess. Be prepared. This is our go-to, to-go dim sum spot. They open early and close late. They have a good variety and portions are larger than most other places. You can either order directly through the ladies in the front or fill out the sheet that has picture and name of the item you want with the quantity. They box everything and you pay at the end. The past couple of times I've gone the credit card machine was down, luckily I had cash on me and was able to pay for it. They also have roasted items like duck or pork. I've been there and had big orders to buy to celebrate events at my work and luckily they had enough. Beware that they may run out of items. I would highly recommend getting the fried glutinous rice dumplings, they look like footballs and are fried crispy deliciousness. read more

My want was this sweet rice cake which I took a picture of the menu item to show the lady behind the counter. The second item I was asking the lady next to me if she knew the Chinese name of the item. She didn't and I kinda remember how to pronounce it but I wasn't watching the lady put it into my box. I'm always in this plaza for GW market. It's so easy to miss since is so small. Anyways, it was popping and I didn't want to eat toooo much before thanksgiving dinner, so i ordered the BBQ rice noodle and some deep fried dumplings and can't forge the chicken feet! This was my usual place for roasted duck and salted chicken but after yesterday's experience, I would not be giving them my business. I sent my husband to pick up 3 times( 1 whole roasted duck, crispy pork and 1 whole chicken. Total should have been $97 and some change. When my husband said the total was $130.28, I knew something was wrong. Called them and confirmed that they over charged. My husband can understand but speaking is not his strong suit. While I spoke to them in Cantonese and said you need to give receipts that show itemized cost and the mistake was a big one. She gave me a $30 refund and walked away! I told it should be $33+. She had the audacity to tell me how I could be picky with asking for the tax back! I Food is good but attitude and customer service resolution does not deserve my business. I mean I am sure I am being overly dramatic The bao is sticky and the bug just got stuck. But that is not what I want to see when I open the white box. A black bug on the white bao. This place used to have 0.99 dim sum back in 2013 and I always felt it was on par for what you got. That was 12 years ago but the quality and food hasn't changed in 2025. What has changed was inflation, where now the 0.99 is nearly $5. I think all of the local dimsum spots have begun to price fix with their competitors but that would be a tinfoil conspiracy then, wouldn't it? There are better dimsum take out joints with better quality ingredients nearby, so while I think you should definitely check this place out, I'd encourage you to also check out the local competition and you'll definitely see what I'm talking about. read more

For take-out dim sum they are surprisingly good, with an even more surprising menu in terms of the spread that, even mid-day, is still pretty solid. It's absolutely a take-out dive despite the presence of a few little tables, parking lot does get busy, and while they do take credit cards I saw most paying with cash. The enclosed glass counter is full of pineapple buns, egg rolls, lo bac guo (turnip cake), cheung fun (both shrimp and beef), plus a smaller than expected but still quite well-stocked area of fresh steamed items. Har gow, shu mai, lo mai gai, ngau paak yip (ginger beef tripe), and all the goodies I would expect. There is a bit of a wait as orders are packed into foam boxes and queued up to pay, but it's not bad, and you have to admire how well they understand organization. Shrimp filling was good in portion and standard for taste. 8/10 Sui Mai - 4pc and the pork and shrimp filling was juicy! 8/10 Shrimp Noodle Rolls - 3 rolls with good amount of shrimp filling. Just be careful because if you point at something and ask what it is, the server is more apt to put it in a take out box. As for the dim sum, the siu mai was ok..mostly pork and didn't detect any shrimp. The char siu steam bao's were very good as well as these triangle shaped wor tip/fried dumplings. If i could give this restaurant 0 stars, I would. Our first experience eating food there we did an order for take out. We ordered like normal and received our food and went home. Upon looking at the food we got, we realized we were missing 3 food items. We couldn't really determine if we were charged for those items as the only receipt we got was our final total. One person from our group decided to go back to the restaurant and see if they had just forgotten to put it in our bags but a woman who worked there told him they didn't have what we had ordered.
