Since I had 'above expectation' experience, I decided to try the dim sum. We ordered 8 dishes for the two of us and everything was good. Service was nice especially the waiter / mgr actually hold off our sweet dishes until we are almost done with the savory dishes. This is the first from my experience dining in Chinese dim sum restaurant. Very nice touch. The food price is slightly above nearby restaurants but this is expected as it is inside a decent hotel. However if you like a nicer ambiance ( less crowd and noise ), you should give this a try. Btw, it will be nice if I can charge my bill to the room so I get some points from Marriott. read more

We stayed at the Courtyard so we decided to stop by to have dim sum for dinner since it was convenient having a restaurant at the hotel. I was a bit worried when we walked in because there wasn't a lot of people dining. But my worries withered away once we tried their food. It did not disappoint! Service was super friendly. They were welcoming and attentive. We ordered quite a few dishes and we ended up finishing most if not all of it. Between Crystal Palace and previously Chef Tony, I have been to this location probably close to 10 times. I am a big fan of it being in a hotel with ample parking, clean bathrooms, spacious dining room, and elevated food. Crystal Palace does a nicer job with dinner than Chef Tony previously did. It has a full menu, and currently a Peking duck special. The dishes are well executed, noticeably more refined than the typical restaurant elsewhere in SGV. There are always multiple large parties of families celebrating special occasions here, much like the reason we're there. As with the decor, the servers are pleasant, polished, and warm with their service as well. I hope they can expand their dinner menu with more modern specialties, but what they're currently doing is good enough. First time visiting after it was taken over from Chef Tony. Came to dinner with friends. Staff and service was attentive and friendly. The request to move to a larger tables was accommodated rather quickly and without hesitation. That was much appreciated, there were eight of us sitting quite tightly in a table that seem more suited for 6, getting PTSD from Bistro Nah. We tend to order a lot and wished restaurants would understand that family style doesn't mean cramped quarters. The food was delicious, pre ordered some items, squab, large live shrimp and turbot. The steak was good, and the noodles and tofu, so their regular menu items were in my opinion better than the special order dishes. Dinner ended up being quite expensive due to the social order seafood and squab, and was left a little disappointed with the Turbot and shrimp. Really classy upscale designed restaurant with spotless furnishings. Sliced gai lan (Chinese broccoli) salad style with truffle and roasted garlic was a great creation. Each dumpling has actual flavors and distinctive combinations avoiding the typical "everything tastes the same but looks different" happening in so many dim sum copycats. Located inside Courtyard by Marriott, parking is validated by them if you park in their underground parking structure. There are also handful of parking along side of building designated for restaurant customers. We wanted to try out their dimsum on a Thursday around 11:30am, no wait at all. Not sure how it is during weekends. We didn't personally like this spot for dimsum, overly priced and food wasn't that great. But it's well decorated, table cloth is purple instead of yellow beige if that matters to you. Maybe dinner is better? However, I wouldn't be returning. Pan Fried Radish Cake - arrived lukewarm, plated well and garnished with some microgreens. But lukewarm pan fried turnip cake isn't what I'm looking for. Spacious seating with modern decor. We ordered some dim sum and regular dishes, including the chicken feet, beef rice roll, sautéed string beans, walnut shrimp, and siu mai. Everything was delicious except the beef rice roll. It's supposed to have minced beef inside it but it was just this dark brown flat filling that did not taste like meat at all. There is nothing not to like about this place. It is ever so clean and it is very comfortable. The last time we went it was so cold outside but the eatery was nice and warm, but not hot. There is great seating and when we were there it was not crowded. We did not have a reservation, but I think you can make one and I would if allowed. The place is really pretty and set up to seat a lot of people. The service was exceptional. They were all so nice and I did have questions about some of the Dim Sum. They know everything. Their dinner fish dishes are great and we love their rice. We loved the beef tripe and all of their shrimp dishes are great. Have fun. read more

Not worth it. Steamed fish amazing, but very expensive. Squab yummy, but overpriced. Not much meat on the bones. Everything else we ordered was delicious and amazing and you need to bring a big party with you so that you can share more items because the dishes are big. Service was amazing! Truly. It's been our Christmas morning tradition since the kids were little to go get dim sum. This year we decided to try some place new and found Crystal Palace. It is in the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in the space that had been held by several unsuccessful restaurants in the past; most recently Chef Tony. Hopefully, this time it would last a while since Crystal Palace turned out to be one of the best dim sum places we've tried in a while. It is also one of the very few dim sum spots that accepts reservations. Unlike the typical canto abruptness attitudes, the service was also friendly and polite. Those who like truffles would love this place for truffle flavor is in many of the dishes. The obligatory hargow and shumai were very legit. The chashiu pineapple bun had the perfectly crunchy outside layer. Basically everything met or exceeded our expectations. Dim sum here is more expensive than other places but I like that it doesn't smell like oils and the place is spacious with enough AC. The staff is attentive and changed out plates several times so the flavors of the food won't mix together and so you can taste the food as is. My favorite is the egg yolk lobster. This spot used to be Chef Tony, but it has now changed to Crystal Palace. The menu is extensive with lots of variety, flavors were great, and the staff were also very friendly. Before serving, they announced the dish name and gave a quick intro about the cooking style, which added a nice touch. One of the newer dim sum spot in the 626 and is pretty good. Not as big as your typically dim sum spot, as it is part of a hotel and shares the parking, get pretty packed. The food was fresh and provided little different things that l normally would not see at other spots. This restaurant is located in the Courtyard Marriott in the lobby behind the Starbucks on Atlantic & Hellman. Across the street from Atlantic Time Square. There's 3 hours surface parking available. Or if you opt to park in the garage, they will validate. I found parking outside so no validation needed. This place doesn't require a reservation, but it's not that big, so I would highly encourage reservations on the weekends for sure. Also, I noticed tour companies like to use this hotel to house their guests, so you might have to deal with that crowd if you did not make any reservations. The interior is nicely decorated and clean. You order off of a menu and they bring the food out to you. It's not the traditional push cart like a lot of the Dim Sum restaurants are in the area. The prices here are higher than the other restaurants. It's also nice that most of the employees here speak English well so that helps a lot. As far as the food is concern, this is where the 3 Stars apply. The food here is on the bland side and lack the flavor punch like their competition across the street at Atlantic Seafood & Dim Sum to name a few. The Seafood Chow Mein was nice and crispy, but lack that Wok Hey that I look forward to when ordering this dish. Again, it wasn't seasoned well enough. The gravy was bland also. The har gow tasted like it was on the steamer a little too long. They charge $2.18 for tea per person. So make sure you drink up. Though this restaurant is on the smaller side, they are definitely short staffed. It was hard to flag someone down for soy sauce as they were just moving so fast and doing multiple things. I would think twice about coming back here when there's so many better ones within 5-10 minutes away. Good thing is parking was big and the spaces are wide here. I enjoyed having something traditional and it taste soo good! Also the beef rolled rice noodle roll was delicious! This place makes it legit and it isn't beefy but actually so so good! Most dishes were competent enough, a few dishes could use a slight tweak - too much truffle oil on the sliced gai lan, the beef tripe felt a bit too light on ginger but was cooked properly, har cheung fun skins too thick but generous with the shrimp inside. At least in daytime, it's brightly lit, quite modern. Don't be shy to ask for a table away from the windows if you want more of a traditional Chinese restaurant vibe, although it's still too modern to really say traditional. BETTER QUALITY DIM SUM Monterey Park has a ton of dim sum spots but Crystal Palace is my favorite for many reasons: 1. Located inside Mariott hotel there's free parking w/ validation. Underground parking = nice cool vehicle. 2. Dim sum here tastes fresh and ingredients used is always quality. You order off the menu and it comes quickly. I hate waiting for push carts. 3. Over the phone, they said yes. Once we got there, they said they don't reserve tables and that we had to wait like everyone else. So whoever answered the phone either misheard what we said or there was lack of training here. Anyway, the service was lacking. Food came out extremely slow. Unfortunately, the service is what completely ruined the visit. We were treated with noticeable disrespect by our server. The restaurant was not busy (around 10 tables with multiple servers on the floor), yet when I politely asked for chili oil, our waitress responded with an angry, dismissive tone, telling me to wait because she was "taking our order." I completely understand being busy but the attitude was unnecessary and unprofessional. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, assuming she might just be having a rough day. However, the service only got worse. Our table was intentionally ignored for most of the meal. We never received refills for water or tea, and each interaction was met with impatience and attitude. What stood out most was that other tables were experiencing the exact same issue with the same server. One guest even took it upon himself to grab napkins and refill water because service was taking so long. For a restaurant located inside a Marriott property, this level of service was shocking. Hospitality should be a priority, and this experience reflected poorly on the brand. Unfortunately, I won't be returning and I'd definitely been telling everybody else not to come here. We've been wanting to try Crystal Palace for a while, and finally got the chance when we were invited to a wedding banquet there. The restaurant is inside the Marriott Hotel, nicely decorated with a plush setting and comfortable atmosphere. The service was good and efficient, and we appreciated that parking was validated by the restaurant, which made things convenient. The food, however, was just average for the price. The lobster with Yee Mien noodles didn't have much flavor, and overall, the dishes were a bit underwhelming. Still, we had a great time celebrating with friends and enjoyed the surprise lion dance and the full USC band that performed during the wedding -- it made the evening fun and memorable. read more

The food was great. it was served family style and placed on a 'lazy susan'. For starters we had Seafood Congee. It had a very nice texture. Not too salty. We had fried rice and that was delicious. We also enjoyed the Coconut Bunny Pudding and yes, it was shaped as a bunny so cute! Since it was located in a hotel, the restaurant is fine dining compared to your ordinary Dim Sum & Chinese joints. We asked to move to another same sized table farther into the room BUT, they refused implying the other tables already had other reservations.
